The biggest thing I’ve noticed since quitting coffee 15 days ago is that my sleep is exquisite. I often wake up hours before sunrise ready to go on a run 👌 I also fall asleep earlier and quicker.
@@Sassypantsinpink it gets better. It’s about the journey, not the destination. When you’re in it, at that moment, it’s hard to feel like things will ever change or be different. But one day you’ll wake up and things will be different. You won’t even notice. And randomly during that day you’ll have a moment where you remember how you felt. You’ll know then, things can change and get easier. Hang in there!
I agree with you my husband accidentally made me coffee today fully caffeinated I usually rarely drink it and I thought why not we were cleaning and organizing and now I sit here hoping I can sleep soon , it’s now 2:23 am 😢 never again
@@SunsiasLove I hope you found your sleep! Remember, caffeine has a half life of around 7 hours! It leaves the body somewhat fast compared to some other stimulates. You’re going to be okay and this shall pass. Hang in there!!
@@jasonvoorhees5640energy levels are smooth throughout the day. No longer have to take a sip of caffeine to get an energy boost and then crash after. I’m 30 days caffeine free. All caffeine not like in this video
Caffeine is a drug. I’m an addict in recovery and it interferes with my process ( program). Today I’m caffeine free and enjoying freedom from active addiction.
50 year caffeine addict...always suffered anxiety..manic depression.. right now as I approach 70 I am really experiencing more anxiety... reading Caffeine blues and Allen Carrs book The easy way to quit caffeine... thank you for your testimonial...
Same here, I am 64 and have drunk strong coffee since my teen years. Have tried to give up cold turkey before, the resulting headache day 2 and 3 was PHENOMENONAL !! This time I am cutting down very very slowly, due to reach zero in a couple of weeks time. Even reducing slowly has given me a daily mild headache so far, but 50 years is a long time, I doubt my body can remember not being caffeinated!! Lol
I am 71, drank strong coffee since my teens. I quit caffeine about a month ago. I didn’t have the headaches but I was sleepless for the first three days. My blood pressure dropped to normal, I feel much more even keel and sleep much better. I guzzle decaf like I used to do regular coffee so I really didn’t change anything. About a week ago after an exhausting day, I drank a cup of tea. I felt like I had dropped a hit of acid. It was uncomfortable so I haven’t since. Quitting caffeine was a good thing for mr.
I feel as though I have been self medicating with caffeine as well. It is the only way I feel joy or feel excited about life. I belive I suffer with bipolar disorder as well
I didn’t know Allen Carr had a how to quit caffeine book! I read his how to quit smoking book 20 years ago and it was magic! Haven’t smoked since. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks!
4 years for me too. I was heavily addicted and drank 1000mg a day. My sleep was terrible, my anxiety was super high, as was my blood pressure. I decided to give it up to see if it was responsible and in my case, it was. It was crazy difficult for me to give up, withdrawals lasted months for me. But once I came out the other side, I had no more sleep issues, and much less anxiety. Never going back to that nasty drug that is sadly normalized in corporate culture.
@@whitejodeci8926 I did, yes. The withdrawal process was miserable. The body and the mind are protesting whilst adjusting. It does get better but you have to stay the course.
@whitejodeci8926 mine lasted two weeks where I was mimicking a method addics withdraw. I was seeing in black and white and everyone's voice was like a bad Chinese dubbed movie. People woukd talk and about 45 seconds later I woukd hear the audio. It was scary. My husband and I did a lot of research after it put me in the hospital because I couldn't feel my arms and legs. Coffee was the only drink I had. No water no nothing just coffee for 2 years. I was drinking only decalf for a year and then I was off of it completly for 6 months and unfortunitly I started giving myself one cup of caffine a day again and now I'm struggling to get back off of it. It was about 6 months before I felt regular. However I did learn having one cup about every two weeks to a month helped with mood swings because I always have depressive down swings and high anxiety so it's something relaxing and familiar. It's different for everyone and it all depends on how much you drank according to your body size and what other types of liquids you drank as well. You can do it I'm rooting for you.
@@bopeswiththemost4415man, reading your comment, I have to say that’s insanee 1000mg a day. I’m pretty much the same as you in that aspect, I’m on day 3 of quitting caffeine. And it was the same thing for me, I drank death wish which is the strongest coffee. You mind sharing about how your experience has been? Whats been the positive side of being caffeine sober? Mainly the reduction in anxiety…?
This is great news. I'm on day 5 without caffeine and I'm enjoying it. Hopefully I can make it this time. I've tried giving it up many times and have kept coming back. But I am tired of feeling tired and anxious all the time. Need freedom from it.
Caffeine has been the #1 trigger of my social anxiety. Im actually angry when i think about all the wonderful people and situations ive avoided because of how bad my anxiety had gotten. Never did i ever link it to my caffeine consumption. Ive been a coffee and energy drink drinker for almost a decade and its ruined my life. I quit coffee five days ago and literally feel like a completely different person. Practically no anxiety, more energy and a much better quality of sleep. I actually enjoy being around people now. Ive been laughing and joking more. My caffeine addiction made me borderline antisocial. I've also noticed that when i wake up i dont feel groggy and irritable. I actually wake up feeling refreshed and energized. Its amazing. Luckily the only withdrawal I experienced was binge eating for a few days.
6 weeks clean from caffeine now. I love the feeling of not feeling dependent on it, and feel much better in the morning now. Very little anxiety now, and the undercurrent anxiety you mentioned (which I also felt) it totally gone. It totally worth taking a long break from caffeine to see how much better you can feel. Prioritizing sleep is earier and very important too.
i quit caffeine for about 6 months earlier this year, previously i had anxiety, delusions and psychotic episodes or psychosis as i believe the medical world call it, after doing research and listening to my body, i figured i had a severe magnesium deficiency plus excess caffeine consumption, the magnesium worked wonders, got rid of my brain fog and helped with the delusions, about 3 months ago i got hooked again but im on day 5 cold turkey now, im not going back, anyone dealing with mental health issues, anxiety, depression, brain fog etc get a magnesium supplement, there really cheap and just take it daily, i hear caffeine makes us dump more water and electrolytes/magnesium causing these issues.
You should give up chocolate aswell, just to see what happens. I've done both, gave up caffeine and all things that had sugar added(which includes chocolate) and one of them on their own is ok, but both............this was when I got to see the truth about myself and my addictions, they were completely exposed. It was not easy and I felt exhausted, I felt this existential emptiness inside, there was no real physical craving, it was all mental/emotional/spiritual. Now I see caffeine as one of the most unacknowledged drugs that exists in the world. Imagine if all of a sudden caffeine supplies died overnight and people could not drink coffee/tea? You would see the truth, that so many people are literally caffeine junkies.
I did something similar. Because everyone has become so crazy. I gave up on friends about 5 years ago and my life is so much more simple now. I'm not getting used anymore, or lied to, being taken advantage of. I have invested in myself and my happiness has returned. Great video
sounds like you have communication issues which cause friend issues. communicate clearly and honestly. look for the level of reciprocity you get and adjust your expectations for relationships based on that, i think this is key and might mean that you'll still have to spend considerable time alone, which is fine.
@@granitecolorado i think the following are objective statements: you're communicating with a human over a discussion in a comment section. you're still a social animal, we all are, and there are psychological and physiological benefits to social interaction. people are nowadays like they always have been. the tools we use change but we are still sacks of meat that think and feel.
When I quit cofee, for me was much harder to say good bye to the cofee flavor, caffeine itself wasnt such a problem - just a day of headache and then all good again. But is incredible, how much every functionality of your body improve, when you get out of the state of constant small stress.
+1 for Rooibos tea. If I need an energy boost now, I drink a glass of vegetable juice (carrot, cucumber, celery and a red pepper). Massive energy boost without the jitters. Also, I am extremely sensitive to caffeine. It not only triggers severe anxiety for me, it also gives me migraines when I have withdrawal overnight. If I want to have a panic attack I just drink two cups in the morning on an empty stomach. That is how sensitive I am to the stuff. I have been on decaf for a couple of years now, best thing I ever did.
Same. Made cowboy coffee one morning, and a few minutes later had to walk outside to not go crazy with anxiety. If a cup of cowboy coffee - which is like 2 or 3 cups of regular coffee - gives me a reaction that strong then only one cup will also likely have negative effects on me.
I've watched a lot of videos on quitting caffeine and I think yours is the best - thank you! For those of us that were heavy caffeine users, it is a much longer road to recovery. I was drinking the equivalent of probably 8 cups of coffee a day (part of it was tea and sometimes caffeine pills). I only took two days to taper off to zero and I didn't get any of the headaches or traumatic withdrawal symptoms some people talk about. I quit over three weeks ago and I feel like my energy is gradually coming back. I especially notice it in the evenings, when I used to be just brain dead, and now I just cruise along at the same energy as I had all day. My energy isn't great but that may have more to do with my depression. I have to agree that the anxiety is just plain gone. I had pretty severe anxiety every day, though perhaps not as bad as many people who have anxiety attacks.
now add healthy exercise to your routine to replace the unhealthy stressor coffee, with the healthy stressor exercise. not necessarily heavy weights, you can add those at any point in time when your body is very fit. but functional training, or group exercises to add a social aspect (not crossfit, that's just good for injury). that should further help with the energy levels and depression. what i found also helped, was psychedelic breathing, with the right teacher and guidance.
Yesterday I had my first cup of the day and was ready to take on the world, but then a couple of hours later I started to slump, and was so irritable and angry. This happens to me all the time but yesterday I decided I'd had enough. Today my head is throbbing and I'm so sleepy! But will ride it out and get to the other side. I've always suspected I'm sensitive to caffeine but now is the time to tackle it. Your video was really helpful, thank you!
I’m on day 4. Last few days have been rough but worth it for the sleep. Bro, I’ve had the deepest and most happiest sleep since I can remember. I ain’t going back. I already feel sharper and more concentrated
I've quit twice this year 🙃The first time in the beginning of the year for about 3 weeks, this most recent time lasted 2 months. I decided to have a latte about a week ago and have had 2 other lattes/coffee since then and today I had nothing and I feel so deflated and low energy. It's crazy how quickly our bodies become dependent. I thought I'd be ok just going back to casual coffee drinking but my body insists upon all or nothing.
That’s exactly how my body reacts, I thought treating it more like alcohol and only doing it on weekends would be ok and every Monday feels like square 1 every time 🤦♂️.
I can definitely relate to this!! I'm in process of giving up all caffeine right now. I've been having dark chocolate as a cop out. The struggle is too real lol. One day at a time.
Falling victim to hussle culture, i developed a 800-1200mg /day habbit the last 5 yr, probably 300-800 for 10 years prior. Quit one time 7yr ago for maybe a week. This time was brutal withdrawls, and ive been through opiate withdrawls... im on day 4 and feel 80%, the work week was a major challenege, but i got through it and have 4 days before i go back to work, feeling optimistic that I'll feel good then. Hanging it up forever. Never again. From what I hear, it will take 2-6 months to get back to a true baseline. Comment here and i will update. First things ive noticed, getting started lifting in gym is harder, but my workouts overall are wayyyy better, and feel much better afterward. Sleeping more than ever, feels rejuvinating on a deep level. Music is much more powerful. I want to optimise the effect of normal human experiences chemical free.
2 to 6 months? You might be onto something there. In sifting through 4000+ comments on a YT video featuring sleep researcher Matthew Walker (linked below) dozens and dozens of commenters claimed this process can take some folks 3 to 4 months. How is your journey going ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k5BMGmf1ai0.html
I was ill last year and gave up caffeine for about a year, and then this year I went back to my favourite teas. Watching this, reminds me and encourages me to lay off it, or at least cut down most of it. Thanks Jess! x
My 3rd day today without caffeine. Feeling great today after 2 days of terrible headaches. I have quit it before for 6-8 months, and then somehow relapsed into it. Idea this time, however is to quit it forever and I am more confident as I have been doing intermittent fasting, So I was already used to not having any Tea or coffee until afternoon.
I have also decided to quit all forms of caffeine, coffee, green tea, black tea and oolong tea, love the taste but it was giving me anxiety and panic attacks, restlessness, digestive issues etc
I am OK with caffeine. I am more energic doing my jobs since early in the morning till afternoon. I only take coffe after breakfast and at around 3-4 pm with snack to maintain my energy. Never had problems with stomach and sleep. Lucky me
I drink one cup of coffee in the morning, occational caffeinated soda when eating junk food. Your video makes me want to stop caffeine just to see how I feel. Thank you and best regards from Sweden!
Im really looking to quit. I have CFS so I’m addicted to coffee, preworkout, and energy drinks. In 2019 i measured how much I was having a day and it came out to anywhere from 800mg to upwards of over 1000mg. (FDA recommends not going past 400mg in a day). I nearly passed out one time at work from being so caffeinated. I also suffer bad from anxiety attacks and as well a lump in my throat feeling thats makes me feel like I am choking. I had a scary attack today while working out (even tho now since 2019 I do not go over 300mg a day) off of only one coffee. Today I have decided and come to terms I am just done with caffeine. Your story and others has me convinced that my heart and anxiety problems stems from my caffeine abuse.
No coffee 4 days, i feel reborn. I am so much calmer, before it was like i was stressed all the time, over nothing. It brings overthinking, adhd, anxiety, and on top of that bad sleep, going to the bathroom, waking up groggy. Also i dont have acid reflux anymore, feeling very shaky after drinking coffee on empty stomach , and very jittrery after the second. I wish ive done this long time ago. I would suggest to anyone to try 7 days without it and see how you feel. Sleep alone is worth it.
Starting today I will give it up is well because I have the same problem. Soon as I drink tea I feel like throwing up and also I need to run to the toliet!!! Also I get anxiety soon as I drink it and headaches. I will update after few days.
I was forced to quit due to bad gastrtis and GERD. Teecino is my replacement now. If I try to go back on any caffeine I every gut/anxiety symptom back in full force! 2 months off it and my energy is stable across the day too.
You were wise. And you are glowing. I can see the freedom in your eyes, and it is nice to look at. Most people do not even understand what this means... Anxiety is maybe the worse thing with caffeine. After sometime without it, you are feeling free... for first time (for some - I got the addiction only a couple of years ago, in a ... very unusual way). The main negative impact of caffeine is that is distroying solar plexus, energetically speaking (hence anxiety). It is indeed a powerful drug, and it is enough ... just one ”more” time, to became addicted again, because it ”helps”: productivity is excellent, for some time at least. Fewer migraines (in my case), and no sleep problems, but only when I seriously overdid it (like 50-70g strong black tea in a day. Many times, I even needed a black tea to sleep well. Right now, If I only take a little (I never drank tea or cofee, but only chewed tea leaves for long), I am feeling like being hit by a hammer in my solar plexus, beside the regular stimulation. I can cope with it, but ... why? It really depends on my energy level, for example, if I did not use it for one month, it is not really a problem. This may mean I was on a brink of self distruction when (almost) quitting this ... stuff. It is, like any drug, a poison. It may be useful like medicine (as it boost the effects of some antiinflamatories and analgesics), but then... using it again for health issue, it means you are using willingly a poison. Disclaimer: when I get a migraine, I use black tea to boost the effects of ... other herbs I am using for this. Guarana may be very good to replace it, but it may depend on your constitution. However, every time, the ”just once again” devil, is over the corner.
Thank you so much for sharing this.... I too am experiencing health issues related to caffeine, and I've been hesitant to give up caffeine. This gave me the confidence to move forward without caffeine
I am quitting all forms of caffeine now,day 2,after I got covid 3 years ago I started feeling hypersensitive to coffee, soda, teas.Felt shaky, anxiety, racing heart etc.Only drinking herbal non caffeinated teas like chamomile with lavender I drank last night and helped with sleeping and relaxation, today for lunch I drank a peppermint, spearmint tea that had juniper berries with one small star anise and I felt great.
Near chronic headaches were my reasons for quitting. If I am tempted to have a coffee or a Coca Cola now, I just remind myself of my life with migraines and headaches, and I have herbal tea instead, because it was a very difficult life (headaches are invisible, and you don’t go around telling everyone what your pain level is all the time, so you suffer in silence a lot). Also going off coffee was awful (I was sooooo tired and ALL sense of initiatIVE was GONE). Without coffee life is good and stable. ❤
I was having anxiety, then one day I decided to stop drinking coffee to see if it will help and it did! It improved my mental health. To those suffering from anxiety, stop drinking coffee, you will have a headache from caffeine withdrawal but it's worth it! ❤
Love your honesty and non-bias on pros and cons.. like the other person said .. probably one of the best testimonial videos on the subject.. ill be sure to check out the rest of your content.. thanks
Anxiety: me too. I suffered it often, at night mostly. VERY annoying. Since I quit coffee 2 months ago, no anxiety. And I just had 1 cup in the morning.
Happy quitting helped you! Also drank 1-2 cups (really strong black so counts as 4^^) Curious if I will experience the same relieve as you! 8th day without caffeine:)
Hope that relief for you. Note that the darker the grain, the less caffeine, even if it tastes stronger. Because the drug is located in the oil, that gets burned out with torrefaction.
I seem to have become allergic to coffee this year... if I drink it, I can't breathe. Before I figured out it was the coffee, every day I was terrified and thought I was going to die. I miss coffee though... I really really really miss it.
I had a terrible anxiety attack after having a large americano coffee one day from costa. It felt like one anxiety attack after another, which left me feeling exhausted and horrible. Since quitting I just feel so much more relaxed and calm about things in my daily life. My overthinking has gone too. I wish I knew it was caffeine causing this earlier but I’m glad I have realised it now.
So true Jess! Amazing experience, thank you for sharing! I am on my 4th coffee fast, usually I lasted about 2 months and got back to get that "productivity high" but I have the same caffeine sensitivity like you, I mainly get very anxious and problems falling asleep. So by now I defo recommend to quit coffee completely - for people like us!!! 👍
Great video-I'm a senior and only ever drank 1-2 cups of coffee each day - about 6 am. I read caffeine has a half life of 5-10 hours! So now am going to quit.
Thank you so much for this ! I’ve had sleep issues and started looking into why and had ZERO idea caffeine was a factor for this - along with anxiety ! I’m on day two of just getting rid of it during the day, still having about a half of cup in the morning but I’m fine with trying decaf as I agree I don’t feel like I need it to wake up - I so appreciate this!
Have not been drinking coffee for years, until recently started again, about a cup a day about 3 mornings a week. But have been drinking black tea for years, about one cup per day. This morning, though, I had 2 cups of really strong coffee, and I feel horrible. After watching your video, I feel like giving up both the coffee and black tea completely. I still remember how much better I felt I slept after giving up the coffee years ago, so will probably be better still after giving up black tea as well. Thank you for your helpful video. As a side note, sometimes during the day if I have felt low in energy, I have found that simply drinking some water can help. It’s so important to stay hydrated. I have heard, though, that you can even overdo that if you dilute your electrolytes too much. Everything in moderation, I guess. I think in general, as I have gotten older, my body is just more sensitive, and that includes alcohol as well. I just can’t handle it well, and that’s probably a good thing.
I don't like coffee, because of its taste and yes, because I dont like being drug dependent. I have drank coffee on days where I lack sleep. Literally. Like an hour to 24 hours awake. I did that on days when I had to cram production, burning the midnight oil, then attending art fairs or dropping it at a retail branch. But the last time I drank coffee was five years ago. My heart palpitated so much, it hurts. I hate being fake awake. I just needed to drink a cup to keep me awake for that one job. Lesson: Never cram production. 🤣 I have discovered though that Yoga has helped me get through sleepy days (whenever I lack sleep or just outright sleepy). For just 15 to 20 mins a day, and even just the basic poses, I am energized throughout the day. I have been doing Yoga for 2 years now. I dont aim to be a Yogi or do a full split or look sexy and fit 😆, but I do see that I am much stronger and more mindful of my body and its needs because of Yoga. Highly recommend it for people transitioning away from caffeine or smoking or any kind of addiction and dependency.
Also, I am not a monster. I love chocolate, dark and mint and milk. And English breakfast is my favorite tea, but I only drink teas a couple of times per month.
It’s also surprising to me having never been a coffee drinker that someone would use a stimulant in the morning. I enjoy the slow process of waking up gradually.
I think caffeine is starting to catch up with me as I approach 30, I can no longer have 2 cups of coffee a day like I did in my teens and early 20s. I have fond memories of skipping some classes in high school, walking back to school with a coffee and mountain from the hospital that you could access through the forest. I'm having more tremors and eye twitches, it sucks.
I have been telling myself to stop drinking coffee but failed everytime. I do really want coffee to stop controlling me. I hope i can stop drinking coffee this time🙏🏻 I gave up soda completely many years ago and it was easy for me doing it. Why can’t i do the same on coffee?
Seconding the suggestion of rooibos as a replacement. I’m one of those rare weirdos who lacks caffeine receptors (genetic) so am unaffected by caffeine. However, I had to give up black tea because I developed a GI sensitivity to the tannins. As you say, the act of sipping on a comforting warm drink is half the appeal, but herbal teas weren’t really the same. Discovering rooibos felt like a miracle - the same type of full-bodied flavour as black tea but without all the side effects. I usually drink a plain red rooibos, but the vanilla is nice for a slightly sweeter taste. Now I need to figure out how to detox on sugar! 😂
I did not even know that was a thing (the no receptors issue). Does that mean you have issues with adenosine activity (as caffeine binds to adenosine receptors)? i.e. sleep/wake issues? And yes, rooibos was a life-saver for me, no other herbal tea I've tried has the same depth to it.
@@JessVanDen Fortunately, no - it’s something about the structure of the receptor such that it allows adenosine to bind like normal but caffeine can’t. Apparently something like 10% of people have this or a different gene that allows them to metabolize coffee super quick so it barely affects them. I also can’t get drunk (I only get dizzy from too much alcohol, no mood effects) or high from marijuana, both of which use the same receptor system so I assume it’s similar reasons though I haven’t actually seen studies on this. The research on differences in caffeine sensitivity is pretty fascinating, though.
The video shared valuable insights into the speaker's journey of quitting caffeine, highlighting both the challenges and benefits of such a decision. It's truly inspiring to see how prioritizing health and well-being led to improved energy levels, reduced anxiety, and overall better quality of life. Thank you for sharing your experience and empowering others to make informed choices for their health.
Whenever I do a five or six day water fast, I can't stand the thought of coffee at around day three. I have quit coffee before but I get a headache for two days, when doing the water fast, no problems at all.
This was a really nice (and insightful) video to come across... I've always been a green tea drinker since my teens, tried coffee and it was too much for me. Finally giving up caffeine for the health of it 😌
I was drinking eight bing energy drinks a day. 120mg caffeine per can. I'm down to just one when I wake up to kick start my day. I'm more laid back and calm, less jittery, happier definitely, feel much healthier, I save over $140 a week now from buying just one a day. I fall to sleep so much easier, and my sleeps are so much deeper and I wake up more full filled from sleep. At my work we sell tons of pop/soda, energy drinks. You have people buying caffeine, 15 six packs of pepsi or coca-cola. And tons of Redbull. Only if they knew how good it felt to be free from that nasty fake false energy high. I also run and light weights. It's natural energy that last much longer and feels better all throughout the day.
What happens if I just want to give it up just for the week and treat myself with a cup on the weekends but just don’t drink it Monday through Friday. I just wanna cut it down just for two days
Been done with coffee and tea for a long time now, many years. Got tired of being cranky and jittery and yelling at my kids all the time. A racing heart is not 'energy' to me in any useful way. Coffee is done completely, no decaf for me. Still enjoy the smell, but otherwise I don't miss it at all. We have such a deep romance with coffee in our culture, but overall I think it's a bit of a lie and holds us back much more than it helps with anything.
Many people experience post-acute withdrawal symptoms - cycles of recurring withdrawal symptoms. There are many people who report that it takes them years to feel fully like themselves again. I’ve finally decided to quit FOR LIFE. I did not have a lot of caffeine, and I have felt improvement in areas of my health (eg. clearer mind, joints not stiff and achey when rising, increased stamina, no energy slumps…), but I’m having a bout of “blah”, feeling flat and tired with occasional dizzy spells. It’s quite tempting to reach for the coffee. But I now know all the risks of caffeine - blocks mineral reabsorption in the kidneys leading to loss of Calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and copper (no others have yet been studied) causing musculoskeletal dysfunctions such as osteoporosis and muscle cramps; causes cardiac arrhythmias; reduces capacity for critical thinking and increases suggestibility due to vasoconstriction to the cerebral cortex, etc etc. Caffeine use increases risk for miscarriage. And there are many more. It’s not worth it. And yes - why would anyone want to be dependent on a drug for the rest of their life? I pray daily for the grace to continue and not give in to the caffeine monster again regardless of it’s social acceptability. It’s worse that smoking.
Thanks. I'm on day three of no caffeine and I'm glad the withdrawal is over. I'm having a hard time at the gym in the morning now maintaining the same performance. I'm looking into other wholesome ways to gain more energy with my diet. Excited to try out your tea suggestion.
I use pre workout but wanna quit caffeine and this is my concern.. I feel like I won’t train anywhere near as hard as I do with the aid of pre workout..
@@TheZestySoul97 you will adapt and be fine eventually. I had the same concern and then I realized it was only because I made myself dependent on it. My workouts are just as good now.
As a person with an addictive personality, the older I get the more I realize how important it is to get rid of the small, addictive habits, and substances that I consume. For example, the only time that I went through being sober was the time that I told myself that I was never going to drink ever again. Every time I made the exception of only drinking on holidays or special occasions, then, I fell out of my sobriety. I've been sober for a year and four months now and I don't make any exceptions with alcohol and now I want to experiment the same with caffeine. I recently did the same thing with my P*rn habit where I just came to the conclusion that I can't do this ever again. I can't ever partake in this habit ever again, no exceptions, and I'm okay with that because my life quite frankly is a lot better without that harmful substance in my life. (P.S. I'm also 1 month and 1 week clean from P*rn also known as PMO). Here's to quitting caffeine. Mainly, coffee, sodas, candy, and energy drinks. I'll be experimenting with getting my energy from cold showers and a workout in the morning (I'm thinking about jump rope) and fasting during the day.
I quit 3 weeks ago when my nose started twiching all day. I consulted a doctor and he said it's coffee(Used to have 3 cups of strong black coffee). First three days were terrible but the it was so much better afterwards- felt positive and more focused. Yesterday, thought of having a small cup and felt worse. I am not going to drink it again!!!
Personally I don't think we should lump green & black tea with coffee. They have amazing health benefits (esp green) and have way less caffeine then coffee. You ever notice you never hear about people trying to kick the green tea habit? :)
2 months now Caffeine free I live in a hot climate here are the improvements. 1) Sweat less ( love it ) 2 . My mind is 100% more clear sound and laser beam focused. 3 Sleep is better more deep sleep. 4. I can handle more alcohol without any hangover symptoms.
I've accidentally stopped taking caffeine twice, I get big headaches for a couple of days then done (first time in the middle of the wild while hiking, it was a little distressing). Though, as you said, once you know what the end result of giving up is it stays with you even if you start again.
Ive done this twice. The first time landed me in the hospital because I was drinking upwards of 2 pots of coffee a day and now I'm doing it again. But one thing I would advise is give yourself a treat. If you've made it 2 weeks without caffine then give yourself a small soda. Drinking decalf helps just because it gives you the flavor of coffee when you really need it but you won't be braking your caffine fast. I'm saying drink a cup once a week when you really need that placebo effect. As a reward. It's not going backwards. What is going backwards is having it every day to ease symptoms. But I've done that this time around. I've been with out soda for 3 months and without any caffine for 2 weeks. Today I had a small soda like the kind you give kids just as a reward well done. My mother came over for a few days and I had some decalf coffee with her. But that was what I told myself I would allow while she was here then it was back off of it. Making goals like that such as you made it to your month mark of not having some. Have one and enjoy it. Then get to your next half month mark and try some again. After a while you won't want it as a reward. I've replaced milk for my coffee and sometimes that's what I want rather than it. I know its really hard. But you can do it and so can i.
Recently I've gone down to one cup of tea or coffee every three days or so. What a difference. My anxiety has pretty much disappeared. And I've had it so bad.. What an impact
Many people also lack the enzyme to breakdown Theobromine which is in coffee, chocolate and tea. I do terrible with all those three. Aside from all that, it’ll raise cortisol levels it’s just not good.
I paused the video before halfway through, so I don't know if you mention the book: "Caffeine Blues", but I just wanted to say "Thank you", young lady, for making this presentation... you have encouraged me to start a detox regimen off of coffee ! ! 😵💫
i used to drink tea for all my life , but since two months i started in coffee,(nescafe, folgers, brasilian coffee)i get an intake of 3 quarters of spoon of coffee in a cup ,2 times a days , one in the morning breakfast with food, bread ,eggs, and for lunch ,i mean after lunch coffee with crackers,it keeps me motivated to do some chores at home, at night i have dinner with seltzer water and a glass of gatorade and i have good sleep.in fact i dont feel adiction for caffeine, my addiction is water, oranges, seltzer water
I am thinking of taking a break from coffee. Whenever I try quitting something, I never say I am quitting. Because I will inevitably relapse. I say I am taking a break, if that break should last for the rest of my life. Then that is a very good break. This way of thinking helps me succeed in other things I have quit in the past. I get nervous walking into a Walmart, and I really believe caffeine is to blame. The days I do not have caffeine. I do really well. The pandemic showed me that caffeine causes me such great anxiety. Thank you for this awesome video. I do plan to quit very soon. Maybe even tomorrow ha ha ha take care
@@lordnelsonmc.billionberg9166 no worries. I can’t see very good. So I always use my voice to dictate the text for me. As typing is not my strong suit. You rock.
Thanks for sharing your experience, I sleep badly and suffer badly with anxiety, I also drink about 10 cups of normal tea a day. So time to try your advice.
What a blessing to not have anxiety anymore after giving up caffeine! Liked hearing about your experiences. I do believe it’s a drug. But I have never had coffee (I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). I didn’t taste, as a child, caffeinated soda very many times. … Raw carob is a good alternative to cacao. I no longer eat any kind of cacao but I don’t feel the need for carob either. I love ripe raw organic fruit! And my drink is filtered water.
The first three days was fucking brutal. Split headache, exhausted, etc, but after I remember feeling awake. Waking up and actually feeling well rested, vivid dreams that I remember and more natural energy.

I never was a coffee or tea drinker until 10 years ago Still not have tea I started having one coffee a day in 2013 large Gloria jeans soy Capp was my go to Then 3 years ago I had massive burn out so I am now back to a one shot soy Capp every morn but I’m like no this is not helping my burn out at all yet I’m scared to just stop cold I am so determined to wean off in the next week In fact I am on a 1/2 shot small but it’s got to go as I’m a calm person yet I have been getting bouts of anxiety off and on and this video has made me realize oh my god coffee is not helping Thank you so much for making my decision and sharing your anxiety story 💛🥰 Because of your video I WILL do this ❤
I quit caffeine for the most part about a year ago! I used to drink a lot of black tea (5-6 per day) and suffered with headaches. Now I enjoy the occasional decaf coffee but mainly drink chamomile tea. I am very sensitive to caffeine in coffee, I recently had a coffee gelato for dessert one night, forgetting about the caffeine element and was kept awake half the night! I have recently found a love towards matcha but aware it contains caffeine so trying to decide if it's something I might enjoy on occasion or whether I should avoid it all together.
Good job. I dropped it all a while ago, caffeine, alcohol, smoking. Generally feel better of course. Though i picked up chewing gum occasionally, which i had not done for more than 30 years - in dire need of a vice substitution i guess. Cheers.
Caffeine really helps me focus, more calm, less ADHD symptoms, so for some people, it can really help, and I don't have any negative effects. I drink two espresso shots in the morning, and I don't need medication, or any more coffe that day.
My first week off caffeine (3-4 cups a day before), I experienced memory and speech impairment, lack of energy, cravings, depression. Weeks 3 onwards, all of the above started to go away. 4 weeks since quitting …Never felt better.
I quit caffeine for a solid 3 weeks once and had amazing sleep. I would also feel naturally tired much earlier in the evening. I am on day 2 of trying to not drink coffee. Peppermint tea is my go to for caffeine free tea
I quit alcohol , don't miss it, my next goal ( after I finish this last bag) is coffee and other caffeine. I know I'll get headaches but I'll get over it.
