I thought it was a bout time I started surfing again and what a bad time to start during a storm with 60MPH winds.Where better than the visit Godrevy Towans near St Ives Cornwall to see just how rusty I am. Luckily I survived these dangerous surfing waves and managed to make this video. I've got a long way to go too get back up to the prime of my younger years. Enjoy the surf music with duck dive surfing and I may need surf lessons. Maybe I want to be an Astronaut In The Ocean

Ah Gwithian, my happy place! Even when it's lashing down it's still a brilliant place to be. Another great vid Shaun even if you couldn't get the shots you wanted. They way you edit (getting out the car etc.) gives you a sense of being there, which is why I always look forward to your vlogs! 👍🏻👌

The surfing looked pretty good to me Shaun. Like you, I don't mind getting in the sea on a stormy day either. Of course I usually remember to bring a towel. ;)

My checklist goes as follows Camera gear (big camera, drone, GoPro, microphones, tripods, memory cards, camera batteries) ✅ Wetsuit ✅ Water gear (snorkel or surfboard etc) ✅ Water bottle ✅ Phone ✅ Wallet ✅ Keys ✅ Sunglasses ✅ Towel…. I’ve got one in the car! Oh wait no I haven’t 😆

Nice to see some surfing shaun at my local beach im like you love my snorkeling but also love my bodyboarding i must have a thing about wearing fins. Got to get the board out not been in yet this year. Hope you do a few more surf videos in the future. Thanks as always for another great video. Ps they do a great breakfast at the café in the car park. 👍🏄‍♂️🏄‍♂️

Yea it was good to just get out in the waves but I definitely need to build up my paddle strength again I was knackered 😆. I’ve only eaten at the rock pool place once which was years ago but I have eaten at the sunset cafe quite a few times both were good to be fair.

I think the fail is that the GoPro cut out mid surf so of my 2 hour session I only captured the first 15 minutes 😆

Nice one, Gwithian must of been blown out haha. I got in, in the bay and got munched so bad and my gopro 8 did the same, stopped recording. Still had a blast. Stoked you got in and had it though dude. Also like the duck dive and the editing on the surf section was sick. 🤙

@@LoveSundays yeah my gopro does the same. Gets super hot and the battery vanishes. I could have done the same tbh and not notice or it could be an issue. Yeah I tend not to surf onshore mess anymore as I always have a bad surf. I wait till it chills, even if its way smaller i have a better surf. We should do the bay one day when it's like 2 to 3ft and clean, that would be fun. 🤙🌊

Just bought a pair of 8' foamies for the wife's birthday (so I can be her surf buddy!). Need to find somewhere we can stay clear of more experienced surfers, but cannot wait to get out there to get some practice in. Good vid as always, love the drone shots!

That’s great that you’ve got some boards. I would recommend staying a way from the really crowded beaches if you’re looking to learn and go to one with lifeguards 👍 gwithian is a great beach

@@LoveSundays Thanks for the reply. Perranporth looks about the same size, which is nearer to us (we're Launceston). Is that similar? Or too busy? It has life guards. Most beaches we body board on have a life guard presence, so we'll be sure to stay safe :D hope to one day level up to a board like yours!

You always make such nice videos even when it's raining and gloomy out. :) I know what you mean about all your vid plans relying on it not raining, I'm exactly the same. I've been faffing about making a vlog for the past week or so which has all the weather types in it... Impressed you went out in that storm, too!

I LOVED that video!! :D :D It was exhilarating watching you out there on the stormy seas. It also made me realise just how shamefully unfit I am :( How do you manage not to wince when walking on them there pebbles, though?! ;) Also, there's a naked man in the car next to yours :D x

Thank you Hattie, I guess my feet are just used to the different surfaces of the beaches because I spend a lot of time walking barefoot on the beach and when scrambling across the rocks whilst out snorkelling. Also I did notice the naked man when editing but thought I’d leave it in there as a Easter egg 😆

I have an NSP board, it's a 5/10 shortboard, performs really well, I wouldn't of gone out anytime after you went out though, that's when the 50mph onshore was coming in, Still enjoyed the video, well done Mate 👍

Yea the NSP’s are great boards and you can be fairly rough with them. There were quite a few people out in the water when I got there but the conditions changed fairly quickly and most of us headed back into shore. Thanks for watching Alex 👍

@@LoveSundays I agree, there stable, Waves are almost Effortless, Try Again when another heat wave comes and brings Clean Lines Rolling in from the horizon, there the days I wait for and head out on at Gwithian 👍

@@AlexBoultz yes those days are great for catching waves however everyone else has the same idea. The problem is when the conditions are good the breaks are always over crowded even in winter. Sometimes some messy onshore mush can be the best days surfing of you life 😆

@@LoveSundays Yeah that's the problem, a little Break Not known to many Lies near Harlyn Bay if you want to escape the crowd, I mentioned it in one of my videos, Mother ivy's bay, It's Amazing for snorkelling, surfing, swimming, and basically no one knows about it, Body Boarders can get Barrled there! On-site Mush😂 can be when your not fighting for waves!

This may seem like a silly question mate but if your heading to the beach then surely a towel should be the first thing you think about 🤷‍♂️ cracking video though shaun and some good footage off a younger shaun. 👍

You’d think I’d remember a towel wouldn’t you 😂 I try to keep one in the car at all times but Kate keeps washing them 😆. I was a lot slimmer back in 2014

The was Godrevy/ Gwithian Towans depending on how far along the beach you are. I parked at the national trust car park at the Godrevy end
