Why I sold my GW-M5610? Watch before you buy. Comparison with DW-5600BB. 

Had very similar feeling about this watch and also returned it… but have you tried the updated version GW-M5610U - it seems that Casio fixed all the issues there!

@@maslovsergey have not, waiting for the price to become more reasonable. Have some good expectations, they basically fixed it all.

@@TomasWatchReviews I’ve tried the one today in GShock store - and to be honest totally changed my attitude to 5610 model. I still think that 3229 is the best GShock module for me, and most likely will keep using DW5750 as my fitness watch (for me it just has an edge over square DW5600BB in terms of buttons and bezel ease of use). But should I need/want a square G - this 5610U is the one I’d go for. You may say that Bluetooth model even more capable - yes, that’s true, but then somehow for me Bluetooth and classic GShock is something I, for now, can’t merry up; and more importantly 5610 bezel is still a tiny bit smaller than GWB5600 and not that sharp to touch on the edges. Might be wrong, but it seems that buttons are easier to push on updated model, but don’t want to set false expectations here. Give it a try, and may be you’ll find it good enough to make another video update! 👍

@Masi on that basis, you could argue that nearly all the functions on Casio watches are gimmicky. Personally, I like the fact that it's accurate all the time and to the second. Makes me wonder why you didn't just buy the DW-5600.

Mine used to work, not anymore. It's about 8 months and several hours behind. And Casio has actively removed the quality from the g-shock. I was expecting a g-shock, I got a watch with a floppy band that fell apart, the back is a thinner metal plate with screws, it's not scuba rated anymore, and the atomic feature won't work. The gimmick is Casio is selling this junk on the good reputation of an honest G-Shock.

@@stan4097 don't think so. The instructions that came with it said it's okay in the water but not for scuba diving. My last two were. They have indeed removed the screw down back and replaced it with a metal plate and four screws. The bands are less robust, and softer. Can check that a retailer. All of those changes can be verified, the quality has indeed gone way down. I really don't have any reason to think it isn't genuine. And the atomic setting worked for a while

I have that one. Its actually from thailand but sold in japan. I love it, but also want to try gw5000u-1jf -- the true japanese one

Where do you buy that one

As cool as the negative display is, from a tacticool perspective I find it difficult to read in all light conditions unlike the positive display. I think that's why my new 5610U is now my favorite watch. Even my automatic mechanical watches are taking a back seat to this square G Shock😁

with the accuracy of those watches I would say once per 6 months is just enough :D

After 1 hour of the stopwatch the 5610 can keep tracking 1/100th of a second something the 5600BB can't do. So in terms of stopwatch capability it is technically a more accurate stopwatch.

These things suck now. I bought one. The band fell apart. They're no longer scuba rated. The back is a thinner metal plate held on with screws. I expected an honest G-Shock and got this. Do you know if there is a way for me to get my 5600 or whatever it was rebuilt? The rubber cracked and I damaged the crystal and started getting condensation inside.

@@ArturoGarzaID Taste is not about "education". If you dislike the cluttered look of the traditional style, you don't need to "educate" yourself to change your preference.

@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou I never said anyone had to "educate" themselves to change their preference. There's history. Certain watches even though may look bland are more expensive or sought after because of the history behind it. Watch collectors know their history.

@@goover7533 No, it updates very irregularly about 1-3 times a week.

Mine updates every night for as long as it gets proper signal.

The new u version, where it says light in the top right hand corner is the new version pal, not back light or led light, it just says light. Brilliant watch

I bought one too. Gonna do the unboxing today.

I am thinking about GBX100 too, but mainly because of one function - it shows time and shows when the sun rises or goes down in the same screen. Knowing time and also knowing how much light has left in the day is kinda convenient.

@@TomasWatchReviews that is a very interesting feature i agree.. if you do decide to get the GBX100, i would be very interested to hear your thoughts, and a comparison to the 5600 BB, hopefully you will make a GBX10o review vid in the future, i will be looking forward to that !

possible, just peel off the original polarizing film and add new one at another angle. But it is very easy to brake the lcd screen.

F91 is a god tear watch for a reason. It is super fun. 5600 not bad, fun, but buttons annoying. AE1200 meh, did not connect with that one.

@@TomasWatchReviews It's true that the F91w are god tier watches, I have owned multiple G shocks from 5600 to mudmaster gwg1000 and the F91 are my most frequently worn due to its size and weight. City dwellers don't even need a watch so a lot of the functions on the more expensive G's are overkill, even the tough build of G shocks. F91w can take a beating too, you'd probably destroy your arm before the watch dies XD

It’s easier to read than the other negative displays. Plus the digits are chunkier than the standard 5600 positive display.

Different strokes for different folks. Had both DW-5600 and GW-M5610. And 5610 is a keeper for me. For couple of reasons. Adjust button is more recessed on 5600. Much prefer the press and hold solution on 5610. More than one alarm is also big deal for me. Using it regularly as reminders for different tasks. Also didn't expect to use world time feature as much i do. On the other hand fully agree on auto illumination. It's not that great, turned it off. As for solar and atomic. The combination of both make the watch stress and maintenance free. Sure changing battery every 5 years and ~3 min a year variation on basic models is no big deal. But for someone who owns and wears more then one watch (the rest are automatics). Having 0 maintenance reference clock on hand is ... useful. BTW L3 signal indoors in my location (southern Poland). But I'm ham operator, so having rf free environment and knowing how to fight radio interference is my thing. Cheers.

You also forgot to mention that standard battery operated G Shocks have a brighter back light display than the solar models. Also many G Shock forums have reported the standard battery operated 5600’s will last as much as 7 to 8 years when hourly chime, and alarm is not used.

why? Review is about old version. "U" version is amazing.

I would call a mirror face and display totally useless. Legibility is very bad with the mirror finish. You cannot have a G-Shock that looks more utilitarian than the 5610. Solar & atomic is great. Totally worry free watch.

I just tried that watch on today it looks AMAZING. That’s the coolest looking G SHOCK ever IMO and it doesn’t get enough love, Casio doesn’t even make it anymore wtf. Anyway I’m massively torn between 5500bb, 5600bb and the 5610 (the latter looks the least cool but man those features just brings out the inner child from me even if they seem a bit exaggerated or unnecessary)…:) Peace.

@@artyohm4810 i agree, DW-D5500 is ice cold, it's low profile, elegant, and yet robust at the same time :D it was my dress watch for a while, but when my brother saw it on my wrist, well, long story short, it's his now xD if i may suggest, pick the DW-D5500, because: 1. it is a quartz watch, you don't really need the multiband 6, 2. 10 year battery life, you don't really need the tough solar 3. it is Casio frickin' G-Shock, you don't really need other reason to get one ;)

it is not that clear because it sits very deep. F91W is much easier to read speaking about positive displays. 5600bb is almost as readable with negative display as 5610 is with positive..
