5000.....metal case, better display, more value for the collection if that matters. Definitely should have both models. The 5000 is definitely a better watch, but the 5610 is preferred, it is more comfortable to wear, the legendary "price-quality" model.....that's why you should have them both!
5000u. As much as I LOVE my 5610, the plastic lugs really worry me long-term. If you EVER switch straps, you're going to damage the lugs and I worry about losing it in a rough outdoor scenario. IMO, the 5000u is the better option for long-term use. And besides, the monochromatic color scheme is way better on the 5000u compared to the 5+ different colors on my 5610. I'm WAY more of an analog watch guy and just get a better "sense" or "feeling" of time by watching the hands move. But eventually I'm going to get a 5000u, and if I could only own ONE watch or would be stuck on an island and actually cared about the time and date, the 5000u would be it. It's the most rugged, maintenance free watch available. Forget about my more expensive Rolex, Accutron, Seiko, Citizen, etc watches. The 5000u would be on my wrist and will likely FAR outlive the others because of it's construction and solar powered movement. Add in the Multi-Band 6 automatic atomic timekeeping and there's really NO reason to wear anything else, whether you're in business attire, have a rougher lifestyle, or go hiking, it's the best choice IMO 😉 And I already have a SS bezel for the 5000u/5600 and SS bracelets (black PVD and silver) that I have for my 5610 that will work seamlessly with the 5000u, that make it look like the MUCH more expensive G-Shock GMW-B5000. I try not to switch between the black PVD and silver bezels/bracelets or my SS & rubber 'Jays and Kays' lug adapters because everytime I do, i worry about damaging the 5610 PLASTIC lugs. That's why I'm going to demote my 5610 as a work-only watch just like my DW-5600. And my 5000u will be getting used in non-work attire 😁👌✌️👍⌚⌚⌚ Anyway, just a rambling G-Shock junkie here LoL
So you are basically saying the 5000u is more robust but you still wear the 5610 while working😂. I think that concludes which watch is better for rugged use. The 100$ plastic watch with the same module will always outperform the premium one for 300$ in terms of price/performance ratio. I have a 5610 and a gw-s5600u and also wear the 5610 more because its cheaper but with the same module/functions and so i can care less about it. Which one is technically better then??? To further make my point: the mrg line is made out of titanium alloys and other super strong metals, so should not that watch technically be the one to outperform all? And be worn the most? No, because it costs 4k $ Many more wear 5610 in their daily life and get the same performance as they would with a mrg. Id say: if i ever go on an island and i could choose between a mrg and 40 5610‘s. Id choose the 40 5610‘s. And that also applies for real life. People rather get the cheaper plastic one (because its also damn good) and get a new one eventually when it breaks. Id be surprised if a 5000u can outlive 3 5610‘s. If that is true, then i should wear a 5000u everyday
The 5610u for looks the price and all of the same functionality but my favorite part is it looks almost exactly like the 1983 original G-Shock and Kikuo Ibe the creator of the G-Shock said that the 5610u was his favorite G-Shock 👍🏻
But… smaller size. Don’t get me wrong the GW5610 is the most beautiful currently g-shock model. But it is so tiny… I had to change my GW5610 (to a GW5000) because it looks like a Baby-G… and I have a 18 cm wrist !!! Ok… 3 times the price but NO REGRETS AT ALL. The GW-5000u is the watch to go. No doubts.
Wish they could make the 5000 with the red outline and blue lettering on the face. Then throw a black metal bracelet on there and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
@@Veganarius98 Nah, 5610U is made in Thailand .. Both options are good anyways, but the one made in Japan has a screwback case that feels more premium. I like the red accent, so for me it was a no-brainer.
5000 is too expensive - the GWM 5610u is much more practical, actually compare the display angles on these to the DW5600e - that display is awesome and only $40
Originally wanted the 5600, then seen the 5610, now the 5000u. Might just pick up the 5600 for cheap and wait on the 5000u? Maybe a Black Friday sale will come up?
You can buy aftermarket stainless metal cases and straps for both that are cooler for like $40-100 so that $200 doesn't justify the difference. Also, with aftermarket you'll have something you're less likely to see on someone else's wrist.
En Europa el GW5000u yo lo acabo de adquirir por 200euros, la diferencia de 90 euros vale la pena es un reloj que se siente muy bien tanto de peso como la calidad de la correa.
Once you put on both you will want the 5000. The strap is better. However the watch itself is no better than the 5610 which is less than half the price.
@@tw_judy That is a great idea too. You can probably buy the strap from Pacparts. Some people like the weight of the 5000 because of the case, but other people prefer how light the 5610 is. Either one is awesome.
@@branislavradojevic339 5000 is criminally overpriced. That watch should not retail 1 cent over 185.00 US dollars. I’m sorry, that’s just the truth. I bought one and sent it back because I couldn’t shake the guilt of getting ripped off for what I paid versus what I got. 285.00 for a steel screw back and casing….gtfooh! Went back to 5610….does the exact same thing for a fraction of the price with better recessed glass, larger buckle and easier to press buttons!!
@@always1st59 that's all BS😀 yes if you have got $$$ you can spend another 4K + USD but my point was simple in terms of tech "INSIDE", I buy three 5610s for one 5000
5000u is manufactured in japan where as 5610u is made in Thailand so obviously there will be a huge quality difference. Anyway i think the 5610 is not a bad watch as for 100 dollars you going to get solar power and atomic time keeping thats automatically enough to prove its worth or value. If you want better quality go for 5000u they also do full stainless steel silver, rose gold and gold nice watches but they are coming down in price you can get a ful metal g shock for 350 dollars now much better than rubber case.
At least the GW-M5610U is readily available in the UK for around £100 (max price). Casio currently has no intention of bringing the GW-5000U to the UK, even though it's already very popular over here.
@cohenworrior898 I don't think you read my comment at all. I said the *UK* currently doesn't have this watch, and it's unlikely that Casio will change that anytime soon, considering that it's already been out in mainland Europe for 2+ years.
@@HLi-eu5er I’m not sure if you’re referring to the black-resin 5610 with the blue line and blue-tinted positive display or the blue-resin 5610 with the red line and negative display, but I think the regular 5610 versions (black resin and either grey positive display or negative display) look better than both of those.
Don't buy the GW-5000, it's not worth for the price, if you are going to spend that much money then I recommend for the real premium one : the full metal GMW-B5000
