Love YSL I haven’t had any issues with any of my bags, I don’t understand why they keep comparing YSL to Chanel, it shouldn’t be the same quality, you are paying so much more for a Chanel bag, also for quality issues you may have them with many brands including Chanel, I personally can’t justify paying for a Chanel bag with their current prices.

I love my toy Lou Lou and my grained leather camera bag. Smooth leather on my toy Lou Lou is so durable, no corner wear even in heavy rotation. I prefer Ysl grained leather over Chanel caviar.
I have both YSL and Chanel bags, and love them both. It seems like an unfair comparison when Chanel is x2-x3 the price point, it would definitely reflect on the materials used. I have been told by SAs that Chanel and YSL are made in the same factories… not sure if that’s true. Either or yes, Chanel is a better quality bag but not sure if it’s x2-x3 the quality.
You are so right! I can’t believe people keep comparing YSL to Chanel. I was almost persuaded to order the YSL WOC online had the opportunity to check it in store. I can tell you the feel of the leather compared to Chanel is like day & night! I went straight to Chanel and got their WOC! You get what you pay for I think
I agree with you on the Kate bag, I use mine really just for the evening. I don’t understand people that are saying that it’s a day to day bag, it’s so not. About the YSL leather quality, no it’s not Chanel at all but hey the price is not Chanel’s prices neither, so what can we really expect? I have 3 YSL bags and I do own Chanel bags also, to me it’s just different. I don’t buy YSL to replace Chanel, it’s too different to me.
Exactly! I have never been able to understand when people say they’re no longer going to buy Chanel so they will either buy YSL or Hermès instead. These three are so different from each other.
I ordered 2 YSL envelope clutch pouches from Neiman Marcus. The corners were very poorly done with raw leather exposed etc. They were returned. You inspired me to buy a Vintage Chanel Vanity Bag in Caviar leather from a Japanese reseller. The leather is very nice and although it has some wear, it was cheaper than YSL clutch and it is a keeper.
I have a medium ysl croc embossed sunset bag and i love the look of that bag. I went for the croc embossed bc the leather seems more durable than the regular leather bags. I also have the small loulou, absolutely love saint laurent 🥰

Glad you got out of YSL, the SA at the Pit st Westfield shop was playing doorman and tried to refuse me entry because I didn't have a mask (regardless of me having an exemption) put on a show and dance, tried to make me "go to the back of the queue again" after trying to refuse entry. It was all ego and very bizarre. The other SA was shocked and so lovely and made up for it but they didn't stock any mens sac de jour, which I was after. Only shopped online since then. If this was the culture of the company or hate to see what else goes on with it's staff. Love seeing an Aussie girl with an honest upfront additude sharing her wisdom ❤
I had one WOC 9” and sold it. I didn’t love it that much. The glazing on the front end trim under the YSL logo started to “melt” (not sure if it’s an exact term to describe) and get sticky. I’m just impressed with the social media vibe leaning towards Saint Laurent after Chanel price increase. Yeah Chanel price has skyrocketed. However I still prefer Chanel for its aesthetic and find Saint Laurent bags design getting like …too much inspired by. So, I would keep saving to get Chanel bags than spending for many other cheaper bags.
I find it interesting as well the shift to YSL as Chanel because expensive and inaccessible. I own one YSL piece but am unhappy with it and find all the recommendations interesting. It’s a Chanel or nothing like I don’t think YSL is worth the price point!
I don't own any ysl I want to own one like the camera bag but I just can't buy it. For some reason I can't see myself using any or buying any ysl bag. It's beautiful but I just feel like it doesn't have the same excitement as LV😬
I have 5 YSL bags and as well as Chanel and to be very honest i do not have any issues with any of it. As a matter of fact if you wish your handbags to last it's all about how you "baby" your handbags and how you use it. If you're the typé that doesn't take good care of it then that's how it will turn out, sticky and what so ever. Just sharing ayé! 😊😊😊
They do have some nice styles such as suede ones I've seen, College and Toy Lou Lou but I have ways felt they're mass produced and the logo is too in our face. I agree and prefer the small written logo from the past. They should have some with the large logo and some with the small to break it up. 😊
I thought it was just me who felt this way about the huge logo! I love how it is written on the shopping bag and the SdJ or the small YSL on the Victoire.
@@AnUrbanGypsy nope..not just you. I sold my toy lou Lou because I felt that the logo was in your face. I prefer the Chanel reissue and other bags with discrete branding. It’s much more elegant imo.

When Hedi Slimane became creative director he dropped the Yves to make in more modern. He also created the trend to have the skinny boys in slim jeans and rock and roll kind of look- teddy jacket and the biker jacket and well as the Kate, SDJ and Sunset are all creations of Hedi, he COMPLETLY revitalised the brand. He is now the creative director of Celine and he has applied his same signatures to the Celine label as well after Phoebe left- he also removed the ' from Celine to make it look more minimal. This is why if you look at Celine and Saint Laurent now the ready to wear is very similar as Hedi left his signature everywhere. Sorry if i rushed typing this but the is a brief explanation
also the YSL logo is actually seen as a work of art which is why I belive they still use it. also I suppose it pays hommage to the original deisgner Yves Saint Laurent who passed in the early 2000's. The history is Yves Saint Laurent is actually amazing! He created the concept on runway shows

I feel like I’m the only one on the planet that dislikes the Cardholder…I find it too stiff and it doesn’t loosen up at all. Pulling my cards out was like pulling teeth. It’s cute to look at but that’s it🙃

You are so knowledgeable on handbags, brands, leathers, etc. I had no idea SL leather is not as good as Chanel, for example. The only luxury brands I own bags are LV and Gucci and I have never touched a Chanel or Hermes bag, so I feel like Gucci leather is amazing but I have nothing to compare it too 😂
Interesting insight into SL! I feel like non- black Chanel caviar actually very similar to the SL GDP. When I put them side by side they have a similar texture and grain size. Chanel black caviar is very different though for some reason - the grains are larger and it feels a lot less “plasticy” than the SL GDP and non- black caviar 🤷🏻♀️ Re exclusivity: I almost feel like the Chanel stock scarcity is artificially created/marketing - they limit stock to jack up demand (see Supreme), but I do agree that SL bags are just way more readily available at so many retailers. One thing that makes me hesitant to buy from the SL boutique is the return/refund policy (similar to Hermes). Even Chanel does returns/refunds even if it’s a short time window.
My Kate bag is my everyday bag because I don’t carry much. I went in to buy a camera bag and got the Kate and medium envelope instead because I love a structured bag. I also got the sunset recently.

the croc embossed i found is very durable in either the matte or shiny! I perosnally love the shiny but its a little more glam! The tassel strings are only stuck on with glue so if you get them stuck on something they can pull out quite easily- SL can fix this if you have issue

Hi, you have a fabulous colorful bag collecting in the background! I own a large grey aged calf leather Niki, I'm glad to tell u the newer version has solved the problem of the flap going up, by attaching the chain to an extra 2 metal rings that's stitched onto the bag (not thr flap). I've been using it for over 3 months everyday and haven't seen any wear and tear issues yet.
Thanks for sharing, I can't commit to YSL and I've been sniffing around them for a bit. Some say their leather is better than Chanel but it's good to hear it from someone who had held and experience having both. Save me the trouble.

YSL is on my wish list for this year but I am having a hard time "falling in love" with one style and I don't live close to a store that carries them, so I basically have to research on RU-vid until I can go try them on. The one I am loving now is the small puffer, either in leather or even in denim. But I seriously won't buy without trying on, as I have heard the shoulder strap/chain is not kind to short people....

I agree with you Jessy, caviar is not comparable at all with YSL grain leather. Thanks for your opinions on most YSL styles, I always go for Chanel over YSL but I have been thinking forever in getting a sunset bag and a toy Lou Lou. I’ve sold all my YSL bags too. Besides the fact they are owned by the Kering group whom I do not wish to support I find their styles way too trendy. I’ll buy one wear it for 1 or2 years and then be over it and sell. I don’t like that’s they aren’t like the classic brands. I only purchase Chanel, Dior and Hermes. They do a better job with timeless bags and retain their value with the exception of some Dior bags Ofcourse.
Defs agree that YSL quality is not great and it’s why I want Chanel going forward. Also Ysl doesn’t have really strong track record with long term handbags like Chanel and doesn’t seem to care about it’s heritage at all. Congrats on 5k!
Yes I agree the quality on Saint laurent is not the best.. Also, the grain somehow gets dirty so easily it annoys me. I only like their sdj nano now for the simplicity elegance and understated look without the big ysl logo on most bags. Congratulations on 5k!!!! 😍 You deserve 50k imo xoxo

Thank you for pointing it all out. It would drive me crazy when people would praise their grained leather saying how durable it is but when I used to own them, they didn’t particularly wear well. Leather quality is definitely not the same as Chanel caviar leather, but of course it is fraction of the price of Chanel so go figure

The hardware is soooo gold orange fake looking, can’t ever compare to vintage Chanel’s. Love the college bag but the quality is not the same as LV. The hook on my strap broke right before I was getting ready to go inside the restaurant for a business lunch. Lucky for me I could use the top handle. I’d had the bag for less than a month. Saint Laurent replaced it but that was very disappointing and aggravating. I’ve never had a strap break on any of my LV bags. I still love the bag and will purchase in dark beige.
