I also have a 22 Badlands for all the same reasons but namely so I can take my family on the types of adventures I've wanted to share with them but couldn't until now. Regardless of manufacturer, we're all here for the same basic thing. Cheers to the adventure.
Welcome to the Bronco community! I feel ya. Had a Tacoma for 9 years, now we have two Broncos. Mine is a Badlands as well, for all the same reasons you listed!
I have a 22 Tacoma which suits me well for fly fishing and camping and I absolutely love it, but still can’t wait to see what you do with this bronco and the adventures you take it on with your family. For your situation the switch makes total sense.
I will always love the Tacoma's and I can definitely see myself getting one again in the future when my situation changed. But yeah, just not a good family rig. Thanks man!
Congrats on the new rig man. Being a family man myself can definitely understand why you made the change. Been trying to make the Tacoma work for the whole family and it’s super tough.
Welcome to the bronco family I hope you enjoy. My wife and I love the bronco so much we each have one as our daily driver and both already have a few mods on them👍🏽👍🏽
Nice man excited to see more of the bronco. Ignore the goofballs that think it’s Toyota or bust. It’s a sick rig and a badass channel! Keep it up with the content I love watching it! Cheers 🍻
To each their own, right? I made the channel about the Tacoma in the beginning and there will certainly be bronco specific content going forward. But I hope most people are here for the adventure! Thanks man, I’ll keep them coming for sure! Cheers
Nice man, I got my Badlands Sasquatch at the end of last year and I've been loving it, especially with the small touches Ive been making. Got new wheels, rigid ditch lights (w/ ford points), Pura vida Offroad Traction board brackets (these are so perfectly tucked away), IAG rear cup holder (a must have for 4 door broncos), grab handles, air compressor, and a course motorsports phone mount. I'm also gonna add a sleeping platform soon enough and I'm interested to see which amber fog lights you get cause I want to add those too. Glad I found your channel and Im looking forward to seeing where your bronco takes you! Subscribed.
Nice man you’ve got a lot done already! Jealous of the air compressor. Definitely on my list. The fog lights should be coming soon and I’ll definitely do a video on it. Got a bunch of lights going on actually! Thanks though, really looking forward to the build and sharing it with everyone!
Welcome to the bronco community, I’ve got a 1970 bronco that I’ve had for 30 years now, I live in Washington state also an hour and half north of Seattle, I’ve been doing little projects on it when money allows it, can’t wait to see more of what you’re doing to your bronco
Thanks so much! I love the old broncos and would love to get one one day! I hope o can get a old project car like that before they’re all gone. Good luck on it though man, that sounds awesome!
The Badlands Sasquatch is one of the coolest stock vehicles ever, I'm gonna upgrade the suspension not for a lift and bigger tires but just to fix the biggest weakness of the vehicle which is the payload. Old Man Emu makes a suspension upgrade that increases the payload. I also want to to get the ARB Summit bumper and a winch, a roofrack and maybe a snorkel. It's awesome that the vehicle comes from the factory so capable though.
I agree that the payload is weak. I may look into that eventually but for my use I don’t find it limiting. That may change when I get the whole family out to adventure though! Sounds like you’ll have an even more capable setup though.
Debating between both a Tacoma or a Bronco for my next car, and this was an extremely timely comparison that I wasn't sure there'd be a video for. Thanks for all the points and the detailed touch of changing sceneries! Watched a few other camping videos of yours and loved them, too. Subscribed!
Congratulations again. And making decisions based on your needs. People gonna hate. 😂 love the bronco can’t wait to see more videos of you guys going out and using it.
@@JeepCherokeeful ??? Who didn’t understand that? If you mean me, I totally understand, but as life evolves, needs do as well and the truck didn’t meet that need anymore. It was perfect for me when I bought it over three years ago where a kid was not in the plans
So thanks to you man, you had alot of influence on my tacoma build. Even though you switched to a bronco I still enjoy your channel and will continue to…oh and its cool to see your old rig with your bro now. Hope to see your old tacoma in future vids!! 😎👍
Thanks so much man, and I'm glad I was able to help you in some way with you build! I hope I can continue to motivate you to get out and enjoy it either though it's not mine anymore! And yes, you will definitely still be seeing the it on the channel alot! My brother loves to adventure so we'll go out as often as we can together.
The skid plates are pretty good; I've banged mine quite hard and so far there haven't been any issues. SAme for the rock sliders. Unless you are doing something like Pritchett canyon or Rubicon, the stock sliders and plates are amazing
In 2021 I went from the Tacoma world to the Jeep world and ordered and then bought a 2021 JL Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon for off roading, overlanding and camping. I actually just discovered your channel a few days ago and am enjoying it. I saw your videos on the Mammoth trailer, which I am thinking about buying next. On the first video I watched I asked about your dog that had cancer and I’m glad to hear that she is better!
You liking the jeep? It is such a great, tried and true platform for what we do you really can't go wrong! I LOVED my Mammoth! I would highly recommend getting one. I will get one again one of these days. And thanks about the dog! Still have many years with her!
First time watcher. Definitely subscribing. Really enjoyed the video. It was well put together. You walked through your decision very well. I love my Tacoma and don’t plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. But the Broncos are awesome.
If I either didn’t have a kid or didn’t have 2 big ass dogs I wouldn’t have gotten rid of it! I loved that truck so much. That said, I’m freakin pumped on this bronco! Thanks for subbing!
Congratulations, beautiful SUV. I have a modified Taco in Georgia and has been great for me, TRD sport. Will consider Bronco when it’s time along with 4-Runner.
Yeah they are really expensive. I loved my Tacoma though. If I didn’t have a kid I would still have it. That said, I’m freakin in love with this bronco! Lol
A 200 series would be amazing! I hear you on the reliability aspect, but having had good luck with ford products in the past, I am hoping for the best.
Silent exhaust can translate to seeing more wildlife, so no exhaust for me. I’ve heard rear shock skids are a good idea. Congratulations on finding a Bronco.
That's a really good point. Once the the truck is warm though it settles down a lot and isn't that loud. I have seen come wildlife even after the install. Hopefully that doesn't chase them off. Thanks though!
I may be a T4R guy, but I love the new Bronco line. Had an original that I found in a barn somewhere east of maple valley back in the 80’s. Good luck with your adventures. 👍🤪🇨🇦
@@OFFTHEGRIND Ha. Yeah it was an interesting vehicle. Had to work on it every night just to keep it running though. Great 302 engine, bad electrical. Cheers 👍
I'm still going strong in my 2nd gen Tacoma, it's hard to give it up but I will need to get more modern at some point. Jealous of my friends with their lockers and sway bar disconnects. Ford did everything right with this new Bronco, but given past experience I just can't get past the Ecoboost engines and the 10 speed transmission. They have been very troublesome for me in my experience. Unless they get that figured out in the next few years I'll probably go with a Rubicon. Keep up the great content!
Thanks so much! Bummer you’ve had issues though with yours. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the Ecoboosts for sure. But I know they’ve been hashing stuff out and seems to be good as of late. Fingers crossed
I’ve been absolutely loving every minute of it so far. Gone on a few trips and it’s been a pleasure to drive in any situation. Great road trip car too! Thanks!
@@OFFTHEGRIND I know you do more WA side, but have you done any of Oregon BDR, or Cascade Discovery Route? Want to really take our KTM Adventure bikes up there and explore as well.
Hope you’re ready for all the challenges you’re going to get from us Tacoma owners on that remark!! Your baby Bronco being better off-road!! A fact, please!!!!😂😂 Looks good buddy, looking forward to the adventures!!!
Great video, i just passed a year with my 2021 wildtrak last nov. My intent with it is camping. Definitely a challenge with space. I have a BA Tents rack mainly to carry my yakima cargo box. I also added a tailgate support and an RCI spare tire rack which fits 2- 8 gal action packers perfectly along with side mounted rotopax. Congrats on your new rig brother!
Yea, my set up feels solid. Only issue i have is if i want to remove the whole top this summer , i gotta take the roof rack off. The one good thing about the spare tire rack is that even with the roof off i can still run the spare tire rack. With some gear. I also put molle panels by greyman tactical behind my front and back seats so i carry various survival gear. Cheers!
Dude, your dad's Bronco looked badass! Excited to see where this build takes you. Oh ..... and to all the hater in the comments who are salty because someone chose a different vehicle than what YOU would have chosen.... grow the f*** up.
Down here in Texas, having no back facing ac vents except the floor sucks for kids in the back. You have to keep everything on high and freeze in the front seats to keep the back semi cool. That is why i got rid of it after 6 months of my kids complaining.
Well, plenty of Toyota and Ford people in the comments, but haven’t seen the Jeep people yet, so guess I’ll be it. Those Broncos are pretty sweet, and getting one for family I completely understand. That’s actually the reason I trade my 4door Wrangler for a Gladiator, to fit the kids, dogs, and things that always need to come along. Also a bit easier to stuff 37s underneath a Jeep. Happy wheeling!
Great video and great channel. I am waiting on my build which is an identical to yours Brondo Badlands Sas with same color as well! and I couldn't agree with you more on not changing anything up unless I need or have too. Keep it up please!
Dude, love this. Exactly the way I want to do mine. Keep it stock-ish. Upgrade when factory parts wear out. I want to keep my exhaust quieter though. Modify to be user friendly.
Definitely miss my taco but dude this bronco is amazing! Absolutely love it. Congrats on the new taco though! I actually got the jacket off amazing. Link below. amzn.to/3j6YYVD
Kudos on pick - the haters are misinformed and/or biased. Terrific product - I got a '22 Badsquatch too, because of another customer's default on purchasing their order. It's a soft top and low package so I'm awaiting my Luxe hard too version.
Funny that I come across your video after I bought the 35s off my buddies bronco for my 4Runner. Between regearing, adding a Tundra steering rack, 3 inch lift, spc upper control arms, and everything I needed to do to go to 35s. it would’ve been nice to have 35s right out of the factory lol
Dude I’ve had a few mustangs and I want to get another so bad. I miss them. But I love this bronco and it fills many more roles than a mustang could. Thanks man!
I remember first seeing the Bronco and wanting one. Then seeing the Badlands and wanted one. Then I saw the rat's nest engine under the hood and wanted it less. Then I saw the people reporting engine failures and I think Toyota is the way to go.
The engine failures have been rectified. They had a bad batch of valves in the initial 2.7l but they have identified and fixed that. From what I understand that affected the first half model year.
Toyota has been losing customers in the dedicated off road segment to The Bronco and Wrangler. Even with all the new announcements I still don’t see anything from them that competes straight from the factory. I have a unique 2012 FJ Cruiser that was very accessorized at the dealership with the Xplore package. That was probably the best attempt Toyota ever made since the old days of developing something for what we do. Just found your channel. Great job 👏
Overlanding is not just off road. I did keep dog in back with truck cap plus fan blowing for the dod thru the rear window. I'm not sure how do make comfortable to do ovelrnding with family and dogs. I went form Jeep to full size truck, because no space to keep things. The rims from factory is more likely has a higher mass rating, so as you are loading your truck, your wheel might be under load rating.
Outside of the Braptor, your Badlands with Sas/Lux is the highest level and most capable 4x4 SUV available. and that includes other car makers Jeep (Fiat), Toyota, and Land Rover (Tata Motors out of India). Nothing can compare feature for feature < $120k.
Completely agree! This thing is so capable. I’ve been very impressed with it so far in stock form and feel like I haven’t come close to its limits. Excited to test it out more as I get more comfortable with it
Love your videos. Great philosophy to modifications, don’t do them until you’ve lived with it for a while and established the actual need for it. BTW, the more you talk about the reasons for your Bronco (in all your videos), the more I love the Rivian R1S I took delivery on this past October (Tons of factory off-road capabilities, including 34” all-terrain tires, 15” of clearance, can forge 3’ of water with 0 chance of hydro-locking & no diff breathers needed. Auto-leveling using the air suspension, climate controlled cabin for the dogs and for yourself car camping overnight, not to mention the sound system right before dozing off or the camp speaker for a little fireside bourbon. Lots of storage in the fronk and where the gas tank normally goes, list goes on and on)
I got some extra bright Diode Dynamics Amber SAE fogs. I still plan to add them on my 2005 Subaru Outback XT manual that I built to overland. Baja Designs has an excellent video comparing white and amber lenses and color temperatures and eye strain and headaches.
I agree. Really can’t beat that with the Toyota. However I feel I can get a good 3-5 years out of the bronco which is about how long I keep my vehicles anyways
The Broncos are AMAZING. I absolutely might’ve gone with one over the ‘23 4R TRD-P, but wasn’t confident Ford has satisfied that engine’s hunger for valves (resulting in catastrophic engine failure). Maybe in a few years if the 4R somehow isn’t what I believe it to be. Where are you at, BTW? In the PNW as well, and looking for some stuff that isn’t outright rock crawling (live right next to Walker Valley).
Yeah that was a bad batch of valves that caused that. Ford has said that has since been fixed and we haven’t seen that happen anymore. I could be wrong, but by the late ‘21 model years that issue was resolved
@@OFFTHEGRIND That’s GREAT news! Late ‘21 was when I started shopping/plopped down a deposit to get on a wait list. Took almost a year, but it’s been worth the wait, so far. Now just gotta go explore, and find some trails!
Subb’d. Just picked up a 23’ Badlands Sasquatch as well! Pretty much mirroring your build ideas. Keeping it stock until stuff wears out. Badlands has good factory skid plates but I recommend adding a transmission & crossmember skids. The crossmembers get hung all the time. I’m adding either the LOD Offroad Trans skid (covers trans + crossmembers) or the RCI Trans skid + crossmember skids. Both of those brands will fit with the factory skids. Rear shock skids are also wise. Probably going with Next Venture shock skids so I don’t have to remove/retorque the rear shock bolts to 350lb/ft. If you notice your suspension sagging some after the roof rack/RTT install check out Eibach’s new coil spring replacement lift kit. Gives 1.5ish lift on a stock Sasquatch 4 door but uses the factory Bilstein shocks. Would be an easy and inexpensive way to re-gain lift height after adding that weight.
Awesome man, congrats on getting one! Yeah there are certainly some under body armor that I would like to add, but not in a huge rush. Most of the terrain that I am on on a regular basis won't pose an issue to those components. That said, it is definitely on my list of things to look at in the not to distant future. Thank you for letting me know about the Eibach springs though. That is definitely a worry for me as I start to add weight and that sounds like the perfect solution.
LiteBright runs a Bronco Raptor and runs armor from a couple of different companies. I think they are American Adventure Labs and Next Venture Motorsports. Not sure which one is which. They also had a regular Bronco
Great video. Subbed 🤘🏻 I have a Badlands Sasquatch thats shipped. Should be any day now.... Why did you pick the Corsa exhaust compared to others like Magnaflow? Non Bronco question - What Camera do you use to film? Thanks!
Thanks so much! I bet you are stoked to get it, especially with that spec no longer being available! I picked the Corsa because to me it sounds the most aggressive. I really like the growl and little rasp that it has. I use a Canon T7i and a Sigma 18-35mm F/1.8 to film mostly.
The reason that Ford did well on quality a decade ago was because they had Boeing’s chief executive running their company. He once said that we have to make sure that 100k parts work together well in a plane so why can’t we make 10k parts in a car do the same? Consumer Reports had a piece about him many years back. They had criticized Ford so Mullally actually came out to their site to learn about what they saw wrong with Ford. He brought his engineers and bean counters with him and interrupted them when they decided to argue with CR engineers to tell them to listen and learn. Ford went downhill after that with ecocrap engines with plastic intakes. Ford had good non-turbo engines and they surely could have increasing fuel efficiency if Toyota could do it without turbo engines until now. Toyota executives actually came out to learn from American after the War and ended up applying Kaizen, a theory developed by an American, back to their manufacturing processes while American companies sat on their asses. There was even a joke many decades later where the Japanese turned out and told the Americans that we actually applied what we learned from you back in the fifties.
The Goodyear duratrac is not a mud terrain tire. It’s an AT tire and has the 3 peak snow flake rating. No mud terrain tire has this rating. The tire has the MT marking on the side, but it stands for “maximum traction” and not mud terrain.
Hi Man New subscriber from Australia, just discovered your channel, looking forward to following you and discovering your beautiful part of the world. If I may make a observation, I would recommend getting a cargo barrier if you intend to be carrying your dogs in the very back, god forbid you had a accident and they came flying thru the cabin with your Child in the car, that’s 2 very heavy and large projectile’s, just my opinion Keep exploring and stay safe out there Den
That’s a really good point man. I really should look in to that. My setup has to remain modular which is why I’ve just written that option off but that is a really good point. But thanks for subbing as well, glad to have you around!
Watching your video right now. I have a Badlands w/out sas. I'll comment on your video as I go through it. I don't have Sas Pkg. I have both lockers. (only difference between Sas and non-Sas Badlands is the 1" lift & 35" tires. I have the same shocks and stabilizer bar disconnect). Waiting on my TRMR rack now. Once in, I'll be picking up an iKamper 3.0 mini RTT. I also have the tailgate table and absolutely love it... however, if I hadn't bought it in advance of my Bronco delivery, I would've picked up one with a slide out cutting board. I too have the HD Modular bumper. JUST purchased a 3 light set for the bumper from Baja Designs...it's delayed until March but the Quad light is their new SAE then it comes w/two dual lights, and - I'm with you on the amber, for the exact same reasons. 'thumbs up'. Another great feature of the Badlands are the pre-wired Aux. switches. I added Rigid ditch lights from Ford Performance and wired them to #6. Congratulations on 'lucking into' the purchase! I love mine :)
I thought the front locker was a sasquatch only thing, but maybe that is just on other trim levels?? It does get a little confusing trying to track what each trim level has haha! Sounds like we have a lot of the same mods coming!! I just got my TRMR rack in this week and it is going on this weekend! I'll have a video on that in the next couple of week! Thanks and congrats to you as well! Such badass machines!
@OFFTHEGRIND ya, trim levels! LOLOLOL. I've watched so many Bronco videos since placing my original reservation- 2/2021. The Black Diamond comes with Rear locker only & that's the only trim that gets it standard. The other thing yours has in addition to regular Badlands is 4.7 rear gearing. I believe the non Sas is 4.47. I had 12 parts in my house waiting on my truck, ordering like 1 every month or so. They are Badass!
Right!? I love it! It’s a corsa exhaust. If you’re in the market, panda Motorworks has it in stock and if you use code OTG5 you can save 5%! Thanks man, it really needed some sound lol
Fingers crossed! Did you get trim level and package that they’re gonna produce? I’ve heard the Sasquatch package and lux package aren’t available this year
I own a 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road that is the best vehicle I have ever owned and I'll probably never sell it. Recently though I purchased a mildly modded new 2022 Eruption Green Bronco Wildtrak from my boss, for a price nobody believes, so I won't say it lol. He paid cash, did a few mods then decided he has no time for it. It is already lifted on 37 inch GY Wranglers, has killer aluminum off road bumpers/protection bars with an ARB winch and integrated lights. The only mod I have to do is add rock sliders that double as a step, because I am very short lol. I purchased this because the price offered to me by my boss was unbelievable! He knew I was ready to move on from my 4Runner as my main adventure rig and am interested in the Bronco Raptor. His logic was "take this for a steal, get to know the Bronco brand, then trade up to the Raptor, or just sell it and profit". People stop to check it out CONSTANTLY lol and not to see a Bronco, per se. It is the stunning Eruption Green, combined with how great it looks on 37s with these beautiful offroad bumpers! Edit: Every Sasquatch Bronco includes front and rear diff lockers. Not just the Badlands. My Wiltrak has front and rear lockers and just lacks stability disconnect and a named "rock crawl" mode in the GOAT selector, but I don't seem to need either lol. It crawls everything, like a tank! I can now tackle our super technical trails that usually only modded Wrangler owners can use! 37s and it being a 2 door make it unstoppable
That sounds awesome man! Congrats on grabbing one for a killer price. What I meant to say, was that the badlands sasquatch was the only way you are going to get front and rear lockers AND the disconnecting sway bar. It can be hard to record these videos and make sure I get everything in there lol
@@OFFTHEGRIND Yeah, I figured you meant that, but wanted to help confused potential buyers listening lol I am VERY happy with the Bronco so far! It is like a monster truck, on 37s lol. The 37s devour every obstacle lol. Ford did an excellent job! Thanks for reading my long winded comment lol. I always enjoy good Bronco content!
Note that a Badlands without the Sasquatch package can also clear 35" - just remove the crash bars (4 bolts). Sas does add 4.7 gears (instead of 4.46) and the Goodyear MT instead of 33" BFG KO2. I have a non-Sas Badlands (2021, also Carbon Grey but wrapped) and prefer the non-Sas version as it already has the features and I am not a fan of the Goodyear tire chosen for Sas (and I am a big fan of the KO2). Great you found a package like this - just want to let other viewers know a Badlands without the Sas package is also a great option. Also in WA - I'll keep an eye out.... V/r NDRWY
All personal preference I guess. I personally hate the K02's from my experience with them on the Tacoma, and so far am really liking the Goodyears. But I'm with you, the non-sas is still a great options and allow you to modify (if desired) to more suite your taste rather than what the manufacture puts together.
I bought the Big Bend edition because the higher packages had that gawd-awful tan or navy interior trim. I'm old-school and like my black/graphite interior.
Congratulations on the new truck. I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD off-road but I'm eyeing the Bronco. I'm not expecting you to reveal what you paid, but I'd like to know if you had to pay over sticker. Many of the dealerships in my area are demanding up to ten thousand over MSRP. Enjoy the rig and look forward to see what you do with it.
Yeah I had to pay over sticker. Honestly glad I did though. I’m absolutely in love with this rig. They also aren’t offering the sad package or lux for 2023 anymore so this was my only way to get in what I wanted
Well, I got me a Jeep Rubicon 392XR. I thought about the Bronco. Then, anything A Bronco can do, a Jeep 392 can do and beats the Braptor 80 yards ahead. That makes the Jeep 392 the best all around vehicle. Plus, the loyalty of the owners when it comes to Wranglers are insane. People are buying Wranglers decade after decade, that says a lot about everything. Toyota has my vote tho, Sorry Ford.
I sold my Rubicon 392 XR and got me a Toyota 4Runner TRD PRO. Sure my jeep was an excellent offroading vehicle for more extreme off roading but I found that was rarely the type of off roading I engaged in and I hated how the jeep performed on paved roads (not a comfortable ride). My friend's dad has an old 4 Runner with 800,000 plus miles on it and so that is why I went with the 4Runner TRD PRO. It performs amazingly well when off roading (again I am not into extreme off roading) and rides so nicely on paved roads and it has a proven track record.
I rather really enjoy your videos. I live in the southeast. Im in the process of rebuilding my credit after my divorce but when im done with that, im going to buy a bronco badlands. But my question is, is it absolutely necessary for a rooftop tent? Me and my boys(which i have custody of) like sleeping in a regular ground tent. But im also trying to start a youtube channel and do kinda what you are doing.
I think you asked this in another video too and I wasn’t able to respond quite yet. No, it absolutely is not necessary. None of this is. All that matters is you let ability to get out and enjoy nature. That could mean ground tents, hammocks, bushcraft shelter, or a roof top tent
What made you go Bronco instead of 4Runner? I went Tacoma, 4Runner, then Bronco. Loved both the Toyotas, but the Bronco tops them. Curious if the Bronco is pushing Toyota to make the much needed update to the 4Runner.
The 4 runner being out of date definitely made me not even interested. Plus it felt smaller to me. Plus, I’ve just loved broncos so there was some of that as well
@@panagiotisf7228 oh I don’t mean it as an issue, really just personal preference. Yeah I know the 2.7 had a rough beginning but seemed to have ironed it out now. We’ll see long term though
I wouldn't say more reliable. Because I had a wrangler and it had several engine and suspension issues. I got a bronco now with the 2.7 and running down 25k miles and not even the slightest issue
