VA WRX or VB WRX? Let's go over why this decision was right for me, and what convinced me to trade in my VA for the VB. Loosely going over pricing and reasons of why it was time for me to move on from the VA.
initially I hated VB’s but what convinced me over buying a used STI is you never know what you’re getting 100% with a used vehicle and after seeing my 23 premium VB in person I just fell in love with it and I have no regrets
no need for sti and their fancy stuff. i enjoy my vb i recently found out it has open diffs front and rear, i thought it would be like sti with front lsd and the center dccd and the rear lsd but it not. but i will learn in my vb still because there is proof it not about the car it is about the driver, dont believe me search "initial d ae85 vs silvia race" in that is good driver takumi with ae86 with lsd just like sti and his friend itsuki buy ae85 which is like wrx without lsd. but guess what, you put the good driver takumi in the ae85 and he still beat a car, silvia, in a race. that show me it is more about driver and if i get good will easily beat sti, evo, gr corolla, gtr.
My 22 premium is the best daily I’ve ever had. I thought this car was ugly until I saw it person. Then I test drove it and was signing papers right after 🍻
people hate on the plastic, but for me, the justification was in the fact they are inexpensive to replace, and you dont have to worry about chips or scratches. Mine is black so the cladding blends well. Of course if i had a white or any other color than black, i would most likely get it painted. Or you can mix black accents with the over all color scheme/theme of the car.
It’s the effect Subaru tends to have on us. I absolutely hated the VB WRX when it came out, and now I really like it.. except for the rear, I’m not convinced. But at least there are modding options.
Subscribed bro! I went with color matched fenders from AFD due to a partial sponsorship. I’m kinda missing the black cladding tho. I feel like it adds so much character. Congrats on the purchase bro and welcome to the VB community.
I bought a 22wrx as my first subject ever….absolutely loved it as a daily fun car to drive year round. Unfortunately got rid of it after a year due to my wife and I having another kid. But boy do I miss it and I would say to anyone on the fence about it it really is a great enthusiast car that won’t break the bank and you can have fun in and won’t draw much attention to yourself in it.
Went from 20 WRX-21 STI-20 Supra-23 prem VB. Enjoyed prior cars. Supra was a dream to own for a short term but auto got boring. I’m not out of my manual phase just yet. This VB is worlds better then my old FA20. I’ve done simple cosmetics to make it way better looking. Looking at exhaust/LED bezel and F1 fog light. also I got MGM best color!!
The VB looks better. More aggressive, protective cladding for those of us who actually use the car as intended, and the nest factory tune and moding potential of any wrx. Congrats.
Yeah I got a 2016 with stage 1 tune and an axel back, wheels, and front lip. I've had it from 17k miles to now 57k miles. If I was single I'd trade it in my car now and get a 2022-2023 right now, but my gf will say it is not financially smart rn :(. I would love to start over fresh and do all the modding the right way now that I know how to! Also I actually live near pro tuners now so I can do all the fun stuff. I'd be happy with 350whp and a healthy car.
no one need sti and its fancy handling, it about driver. i enjoy my vb i recently found out it has open diffs front and rear, i thought it would be like sti with front lsd and the center dccd and the rear lsd but it not. but i will learn in my vb still because of proof from initial d. in that is good driver takumi with ae86 with lsd just like sti and his friend itsuki buy ae85 which is like wrx without lsd. but guess what, you put the good driver takumi in the ae85 and he still beat a car, silvia, in a race. that show me it is more about driver and if i get good will easily beat sti, evo, gr corolla, gtr.
VB 23 limited i have the crystal black. I dont get it man i guess it is subjective , but for me this car looks beautiful, even with the fenders, front has an aggressive look and the booty is wide. for me doesnt have a bad angele, on pictures maybe the back looks iffy specially if its stock height, but in real life its actually pretty nice
Golf-R.:? did you trade your '19 w/all the mods attached, or did you remove some to make the car more desirable? Modded cars fetch less money on trade as they are someone's "peoject" and harder to sell to a 2nd owner?
Northeast, AWD, have it not need it, rather than need it and not have it. ALSO, history shows they hated all WRXs at one point when each model came out. I have a 23 WRX and love it. Congrats on the new car.
Dang, my '15 wrx just hit 60k miles 😵💫 granted im a long haul trucker and dont drive much 🤷♂️ not sure what route im going next, im thinking gr corolla or type r. also considering a mazda3 turbo. i really want an automatic cus im so tired of owning and driving manuals my whole life (bout to be 41yrs old) but the options on the market are limited in that respect
Wow that’s great mileage! Also good points, but you mean 41 years young! 💪😎 maybe look into a golf r? Not sure if they’re your taste but they’re mean machines with an insane DSG drivetrain.
@@AntilleanConfederation I’m 100 percent sure that it is. I modded mine it has big brembos ETS intake and a full e85 tune from drunkman but still didn’t feel as good as my 07 sti (maybe cause it’s my dream) and I’m lying to myself but anyway yeah some people have gotten overheat with awd system some haven’t. But don’t forget the aftermarket will always solve the problem.
The thing is ugly but it grows on you. Only thing I miss about the VA STI is the hydraulic power steering. VB's steering doesn't have that same Go-Kart type of feel, but on the up side the electric power steering should be more reliable long term.
Should have saved up an extra 5k and traded it in for an RS3... i traded in my 2020 STI for an RS3. Zero regrets, 477awhp with just a stage 1 ECU tune, 0 to 60 in 2.8 on draggy
