Is it weird to say that I just LOVEEEEEEEEEEE Lin's Voice every time it cracks? It just... it just gives Usnavi so much of a personality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s great that he is technically a rapper and a composer, yet has a great voice but also that voice isn’t super polished yet he still has the spotlight because of the other stuff so he still gets attention giving broadway vocals more diversity and I love Lin if you couldn’t tell.
I haven’t watched the entire video yet so idk if it happens in this one but in plenty of productions the audience is so loud at that scene that the actors need to restart their dialogue
The lighting director didn’t need to go this hard but they did and I’m over here crying over the best lighting choices over and I’m not even through the first number.
'Your father said Usnavi, that's what we'll name the baby!" "It really said US Navy, but I worked with what they gave me okay." THIS CRACKS ME UP SO MUCH.
I'm Dominican American and whenever I watch this musical I swell up with pride not just for being Dominican but for being Hispanic in general. I am so excited for the movie version of this to finally be released I will admit one thing though it's going to take every ounce of my self-control not to bring a giant Dominican flag to wave during Carnaval del Barrio
This is a great analysis on the show. I definitely agree on all the points you took up regarding why the original cast is so great. Just, it put everything I couldn’t explain to other into words. Good job!
@@itscarol6911 in abuelas song she sang about how she would look at the stars, and when the blackout happened they could actually see the stars again. She died shortly after
OK, I know it's not really underrated, but to me, Paciencia y Fe is the most powerful song. I always get emotional during it, but this time hit different, seeing it live, her crying at the end, the ensembles Calor's at the end, so much emotion for me. Also the gasp when the audience sees the lottery ticket, omg I gasped too, even knowing the outcome.
I do agree, but when I saw it, Robin De Jesus played Usnavi in my cast. I get the opposite, Lin sounds weird to me lmao. It's also weird to hear Robin play Sonny in the OBC.
I saw in the heights when I just came out on my senior class trip to NYC it was amazing because we got to meet the cast because it was fresh and no one knew about it !
Top 10 best quotes from this show (in no particular order) : -"That's what everyone says, I remind them of their grandma" -"I'm chiledominicarican" -"It really said U.S navy, but hey! I worked with what they gave me okay" -"No hablo ingles" "YES!" -"I think we both know what time it is" "Your bedtime?" -"One day you'll both need my sympathy, and will I be there? Probably" -"They say he's got quite a big...*taxi* -"She was my babysitter first!" -"Haven't you noticed you get all your coffee for free?" -"You're done for the day" "No way" " 'Cuz we've got a date" "Okay"

You are my hero, I chOked when I heard Lin’s voice because In The Heights bootlegs are hard to come by. Bless your soul I absolutely adore this musical and even though I adore Hamilton, and the songs are masterpieces, most of Lin’s best work is in this musical
I know right?? I love Hamilton, but I have a bigger love for ITH. There's something special in this musical, it feels like Lin put his entire soul and being into creating this. Maybe I feel this way because I'm Latina, but idk, I just love ITH so much
Not only as a Dominican from NY and an area just like the heights/in the boroughs and barrios, this musical is a love letter to the world my family and so many community members know. Hamilton was a wonderful ride, but this is a passion project that never fails to represent our community thats still lacking its voice and representation, and I can never stop thanking Lin for its existence ;>
Oh wow, I noticed a huge change in "No Me Diga" Daniella: Usnavi went out with Yolanda! All: No me diga! Vanessa: Ah no! He'd never go out with a skank like that! Daniella: Well what do you want him to do? He can't wait forever for you.
@@thatkidd9270 It's very funny. Everyone could agree that he is a genius. Also he is so kind even if he didn't let people record the performences. It's his right at least. "Hamilton" was a great job
Reasons to love Sonny - He a cute bean - ("Sonny, you're late.") "Chillax, you know you love me." - "PS: I kinda broke the fridge." - ("Does your cousin dance?") "Like a drunk Chita Rivera." - ("You really love this business?") "No." - His whole rap in 96, 000 - ("You are so cute!") "I was just thinking off the top of my head.." Sonny is such a cutie I love him
Modern Philippine and Latino culture have a lot in common cuz of our colonial history with the Spaniards, so though I know this takes place in New York, I just can't help but look at this set and call it home. It's the closest thing on Broadway that resembles it. Effin love this show for that. Effin love Lin-Manuel for bringing it to existence
no one: absolutely no one: not even the bronchitis-infected audience: abuela claudia: "you know what seems like a great idea? spending 96,000 dollars on bread."
I know for sure that i’m gonna bawl, even though i know what happens!! Although i did lose two people close to me in the past 2 years, so that might play a part haha
@@sorellerilyn4713 people joke about bootlegs being slime tutorials to avoid the algorithm or other things picking up on it, so it doesn't get taken down.
I saw this musical when it first was on broadway fresh at my senior class trip to NYC it was amazing. We got to meet the cast too because no one knew about it yet! Was so awesome!!
I mean, I can understand what they say something in Spanish, but if I don't have more level in english I can't understand the entire musical, so, your so lucky (I'm sure that I wrote something wrong, sorry for that)
All I know is that in sunrise they laugh because they say are you ready to try again and then they actually mean a Spanish lesson rather than what it looks like they were doing that last night
@@samtrotter7177 i mean, compared to hamilton and a few of lin's other works (like moana), i don't hear many people saying ITH is their favourite musical. maybe it was popular back in it's day, and you might get people who saw it back in 2008 or whenever saying it, but more people know hamilton than in the heights and in the heights came first.
this is the best ensemble to ever hit broadway istg! they are ALL so TALENTED! they represent us hispanic immigrants/ children of immigrants AMAZINGLY!
Lol checking comments and I get a in the heights movie ad. Also no I’m not making money of this it’s been copy right claimed and so ghostlight records is making it lol.
Who’s here after the In the Heights trailer? And I can’t wait for Olga Merdiz to reprise her role in the movie!!! Paciencia y fe is one of my favorite songs from In the Heights.
Thank you for uploading this. I know LMM doesn't really like bootlegs but most of us abroad have no other way of seeing this. His work is just amazing♥
I’ve noticed the Piragua Guy gets his moment cut short in his reprise, but we can all safely say now that Piragua is one of the best roles in the show, and very much appreciated now in other productions. The OBC is great though! Lin was killing it!
1:32:11 So I was just re-watching this again after finding out that filming for the new In The Heights movie has already started and I only now noticed DANIELA KISSED USNAVI IN THE CHEEK IN CARNAVAL DEL BARRIO HOMAIGAHD MY HEART
Lmao remember when Usnavi was fully prepared to leave his underage cousin to run the shop while he flew off with Abuela Claudia to the Dominican republic Bonus: Sonny is the only one who sits out for the second half of "Carnaval del Barrio" 😔
My first language is neither English nor Spanish, but I’m so blessed to have learnt both just so I can understand and enjoy this entire musical in all its perfection!
Best lines: "That's what all the ladies say, i remind them of my grandma" "Well that's some s*itty news" "You love this business?" "No" and in the script: "Yo sonny" *gestures that Sonny should get lost* "Shhh, yo the man's havin female problems" "You're done for the day" "No way" (hA like Ham" "Cuz we've got a date" "Okaaay." "How do you get this gold s*it off?"
This is the only footage of the original musical I come back to, watched the reunion and the movie all amazing, and then watching this every time feels like I’m peering into a window of the past. I absolutely love In the Heights and this is what made me a fan of musicals foreverq
The timestamps of my favorite moments that make me smile/be emotional and I give a tiny reason why: 2:59 - Lin´s(Usnavi´s) rapping skills and how everyone joins in on the ´in the heights´ part. 4:06 - Daniela and Carla! 4:33 - MY BAE SONNY 5:42 - Bennyyyyyy 6:17 - OUR girl Vanessa! 8:03 I love how they went to the middle of the stage (like in the last song) and sung “In the heights, I’ve got today!” (THE VOCALS AND THE LITTLE HEAD BOP/FIST) Sorry I love choreography on broadway 8:09 - I love how Vanessa and Usnavi give each other a cute little look that also shows how cute their friendship is instead of only showing them trying to get with each other. That´s how I see it. 8:38 - ¨Turn up the stage lights. We´re taking a flight to a couple of days in the life of what it´s like En Washington Heights!¨ Perfect line for a theater performance. 9:04 - ¨Hell Nah! It´s blowing fuses and sparking and s***!¨ 13:56 - ¨Nina...¨ Gotta love Aubela Claudia and our sweetheart Nina. 15:59 - I would gladly listen to Benny´s voice on the dispatch/radio any day 22:49 - Love how they kinda made her feel better with the dance. 31:40 - The way Sonny started dancing with Benny when he separated Usnavi and Sonny. 31:53 - ¨You know me, I don´t like to talk about nobody.¨ *Proceeds to talk about someone* 58:00 - My favorite ending besides the first song. 1:02:44 - I love the dancers 1:04:13 - He sounded like he was actually drunk. (I know he wasn´t) 1:05:58 - Glad we were able to see Karen (Vanessa) dance so many times in this song. 1:08:45 - i love how they expressed the real panicking that would more than likely happen if a blackout happened in the club or just in general. 1:12:29 - Yessssssss 1:14:27 - Their voices are beautiful 1:16:02 - I love this part of the song where almost the whole company comes on stage and joins the song with Sonny starting with ¨Sunrise¨ 1:30:08 - Graffiti Pete and Carla dancing! 1:31:20 - ¨OH MY GAH!!¨ 1:32:14 - Love what they´re doing in the middle 1:32:37 - Every time me and my group of friends find out that one of us has a crush we always sing the sitting in a tree song. (With our friend´s name and their crush of course). 1:36:25 - You could hear people in the audience gasp or say ¨awww¨ 1:39:19 - The climax point of this song is so beautiful but the context is heartbreaking. And Sonny ran away after the song :( 1:53:09 - FINALLY 1:58:22 I SEE YOU MR. ROSARIO 1:59:49 - This has to be my favorite part of the musical because they are all singing individual parts as they stand behind Usnavi in the middle of the stage and a few of them connect by holding hands or putting their hand on the other´s shoulder. Vanessa put a hand on Usnavi´s chest/shoulder and when he put his hand on hers they all started to move while a few of them still stayed connected then when Vanessa took her hand off Usnavi everyone separated as if Usnavi was what kept them together. (I don´t know what it's supposed to mean but I love it).
