I love when u said you can’t live in India wanting to live like in USA … this is great thinking I have lived in USA 35 years and looking forward to retire in India in great city of MYSORE jai Bharat 🇮🇳
If you have lived your life in the USA, retiring in India is difficult. I am just sharing my thoughts with all the examples of indian retired folks around me in florida. They said they couldn't adjust back in India after living so long in USA.
@@jayakishore565 you are mistaken. I’m not repeating anything, just made my comment once . People who have returned to India are trying to justify by beating around the bush, but there is only one real reason and that’s what I have given. Take it or leave it.
@@mohammadshoeb9852 no one is beating around the bush . If anything they have enough money they retire . Usually when you goto west you will get extra money bcoz of exchange rate . Just to show ur ego you put down ur comment . Either you accept and change or leave it . Let’s moves on
@@jayakishore565 one thing I have learned is that one should never argue with a moron, because he will get back at you with greater vengeance . End of story. Good bye
Great 👍 We are also on FIRE journey now and return to homeland in a few years ❤ after accumulating a decent corpus ! These type of videos are good inspiration that it is infact possible 🔥
@@lisboaprince4513 It depends on the lifestyle and personal choices. But some basics would be , fix a number for known costs. Maybe even tackle them straight away like buy a house that will live in if you haven't already. It would be an asset plus will protect from rent inflation. Get health coverage and set aside money for childrens education. After that it becomes more tricky and subjective as it's lifestyle dependent and what you want to do next in your life
Would be nice if you can add questions like 1. what he did with his 401K 2. Did he kept his equity investments? 3, What is he doing in india after retirement? 4. How is he managing Citizenship of kids?
Will ask. Sometimes guests are not open to share. 1. We did couple of videos about 401k ( check them out on channel) 4. Not sure of this question. Nothing special you have todo. One can renew passport at embassy in India

@@smchoudhary123 also what about social security?? If u have 40 credit ( 4 credit /year) that is 10 Years … u can collect when u get to 62!
If you want to move india , move but don’t glorify it and motivate others. You must have made substantial amount of saving and have invested in india with the intention long back plus the current dollar vs rupee difference, second you can easily get maid and support of relatives , most important I feel your child must have born in us so you plan her or his future back in USA. Please don’t use hyper nationalism and ethnocentrism to lure others
If ypu can cover more details on 1)tax implications of your income earned in india after you leave US 2) pros and cons about 401k withdrawal while you move VS wait until you retire. The above questions will be very useful for ppl who aspire to move. Thank
We lived in US for 10 years and returned to India in 2022. We are now living our dream of running an organic farm 😊. The points discussed in this video are good. But, with time, we faced other challenges like kids education and other unplanned expenses etc. This is a great show and happy to listen to the stories similar to us. 😊
Organic farming, opening a cafe in a tourist location and Airbnb are some of the top aspirational post retirement plans of aged 40 plus early retirement takers in our country, something that is there in everybody's mind and planning can't do well for all, plus farming is a difficult job in our country and require physical labour, connection with the grassroots and domain expertise none of which the ex corporate employees bring, my message is don't retire until you hv enough funds and you can sustain without working and your investment returns can see you through, most of us working in the corporate set ups overestimate our abilities to start a business venture from scratch and be meaningfully profitable, and then most of us Indians don't hv any hobby or interest outside work that is serious enough to be monetized, don't retire till you are retired from this world is my mantra, invest in acquiring new skills around your work and be curious to stay relevant
The biggest challenge would come when the children decide to go to University in the USA. Even if they are US born citizens, they would likely pay out of state and this can make it easily a dollar 500k per child.
You need to start with the basics for the listeners. What is the interviewees age, how much is the approximate savings before returning to India...etc Backgound helps a lot

In the long run education of kids is a problem which may face young people with kids. Indian education system is hyper competitive and seats are few. Us citizen kids later want to come to us to study for the bachelor degree and then the advantage of low tuition from state universities has to be given up
That's one aspect to consider for sure and I have seen parents moved back to be able to eligible for in state tuition. Also if kids grown up in India and US can decide which is the right place for them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching the video.
i disagree with the comment that one has to sell the house. Its an asset and one needs to figure it out to rent it out so that i gets paid down. There are several property managers who can help run it for a 5-6% service fee. Also, not everything goes as planned, if you choose to return for whatever reasons you have a place to go vs having to start from scratch all over
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Couple of points on why one might want to consider selling house 1. For a non US citizen or GC holder, one need visa to visit US to sell or rely on friends/family/PM (hassle) 2. Missing out $500k capital gain exemption for primary house is another important thing to consider. At the end it depends on each individual short/long term plans and decide whats right for them.
I think you have done the right decision. The cost of living has reached a crisis point in G7 countries, people are living a constrained life, health service is deteriorating, salary hike is very little. I doubt people can ever retire in G7 countries due to the countries debt burden and ageing population. Whereas India is better place as long as inflation is contained within limit.
for 25 yrs ppl have to wait for gc. These days many people are moving back. Fot that 25 yrs every year the risk is there on work visa, he is right! Freedom is imp.
Returning as indian born and raised is ok but kids born and bought up abroad finds hard to adjust as education pattern differs, they dont get facilities like parks, libraries etc
With IB, IGCSE board’s education the difference is minimal. Keything with kids is the sooner they move to India, the better they can adjust. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Any video link discussing about moving savings/investment to India while moving and how the tax works in India on that $ since it’s post tax money from USA¿
I am Indian citizen and moving to US permanently..😅🤩 Reason: Low quality of life Low quality of education Unnecessary high taxes Pollution Corruption Overpopulation Over Competition in India Poor work life balance...in India 🤡
If he had got the green card would his decision be different ? Easy to understand why people on long work visas decide to come back as there is no GC in the near future . This is a very important point why many are returning to India .
They could have waited to get GC but they decided to not wait and stretch their dollar savings more in India. Yes immigration creates limitations and less flexiblity for career growth, business etc., People also move after GC/citizenship for different reasons.
I think it's not so easy to retire early in this current scenario because of the surprise inflation events happening throughout the world. Whoever goes now or started a career abroad (for the past 3 years) might face many challenges regarding housing, rent increase, expenditure increase and no savings due to a rise in all daily usage products. It's really hard to save a penny at this moment. especially if you are with the family!! I think many people will not agree with me but I am experiencing this at the moment and heard many others are facing the same!!!
@@DesiReturn it's really good content. I would suggest taking a podcast with the present situation in aboard and challenges faced by a families in aboard across the globe
These folks now will come to India and increase prices for everything. Most of all property. Making life of existing people difficult. Govt should do something about this pattern.
Far too often people focus on standard of living than quality of life. Clean air, clean water, unadulterated food and ease of getting stuff done is something that is grossly overlooked by people who move back to india.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. No place is perfect and one needs to choose which place is better based on their key priorities and live with the rest.
Thanks for This Many important questions missed How did you achieve fire What amount you had in mind How did you disciplined yourself with it How do you manage expenses in india How much you earned saved invested Where did you invested Probably interviewer is not clear about what’s fire
Thanks for watching and for your suggestions. The intent of this episode is more about return to India from several factors (motivating factors, logistics, life, etc.,). We will do a follow-up one that's more deep dive on FIRE (Plan and execution, $$ in mind, discipline in achieving it, etc.,)
1- Standard of life in India is better than US? Dude look at the infra, roads, schools etc... end of the day that's what we need. In India you might get maids and live inside a big house, only to be surrounded by a flood of rain clogged water and potholes on roads. 2- Green card? How does that matter if you have a good well paying job and indefinite visa extensions allowed. Who's stopping your wife from working either? The rules have changed for dependents there. Its simple. You made/saved some dollars that when converted to Rupees is a good amount. So, you are moving back. Good luck and hopefully you've got adjusted to the sweaty weather, snail paced driving on potholes, people jumping the queue and pushing around in public places, vulgar stances from strangers on your women, and your so called loved ones who have now started to feel the heat of your lowly presence in India!!!
Everyone’s priorities and way of looking at life are different. No place is perfect either US or India. One need to decide based on whats most important to them at their stage of life and deal with the other stuff. Glad you like it abroad and thats good.

Before serving the community you might need to help your wife because she is stuck in 9- 5 job!!!
Dude only inside cities you have fresh air issue .iam retired from Germany 3 months back . I took house 10kms from hyd . Here we have very decent fresh air and water . Prob is when you stay near center of city and travelling then it’s prob . In India everything is home delivery . All sports are in our society only inside . Except for movies and mall I don’t have to go inside city . I don’t see the fuss
6:26 is the first and only reason - no prospects of getting a greencard and can get laid off anytime. else he would not have moved :) all other reasons are just made up
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Thats a very genric statement. There are quite a few a few people who moved on their will who dont have visa issues. Thanks for watching
I'm here since 14yrs and having my i140 approved which gives me unlimited renewals until I get green card yet I'm at Position to move back as well. You need to be a bit wise in gaging the situation
Maid, Gardner, driver , yoga teacher at home in morning, vip gym membership, lavish brunch , evening snacks , samosa etc , evening walks , mall or shopping or temple ... Movie time and sleep in peace .. then why not return and retire early
@@DesiReturn did you do MS in US and found a job there? No...most of them go there because they got a H1B Visa and happily earn. When the company learns that these people have become dead ducks then they ask them to leave. Accept the reality. You were not in the intelligent crowd of people ( that cracked GRE and passed out of IIT and REC's) that went to US. You were in the crowd of software engineers that got an opportunity to work in the US.
Unless there is an immigration issue , you will always be able to find a job here ( assuming you have at least minimal skills ) … once you lived and worked here in USA for more than 5 years, you gain certain skills and experience which helps you find a job easier… So people who are moving back are not really who lost job , there is a clear trend for people to move back retire early have a better quality life and enjoy a longer retirement
