Some people are curious why I iron a front crease into my jeans. To some it might seem strange, to others it might look appealing and might want to know more.
In this video I talk about why I Iron the crease in my jeans, and maybe you might find it interesting and want to try, too.
About the jeans I'm wearing:
First Pair: Principle M 'Denim Chino' made with 12oz denim from Kaihara Mill, Japan. www.principlem...
Second Pair: Chad Prom New Largo corekore.com/
Third Pair: Chad Prom Dritto (ecru) corekore.com/

This video is so underrated. If anyone has wider hips like me ( ik...fml lol), creasing your pants makes a world of difference. I like the trending wide pants look but it never looked good on me until I started doing this. It gives them a natural looking taper without making it look like a skinny jean

Because of the history of jeans and it social attachment throughout the years, it is odd to see jeans with a crease. They are meant to be casual, by essence, although, granted, they can be dressed up with an OCBD/popover shirt and a sports coat. Chinos, mid-rise, would do the job best or a heavy twill.
@Justin_Kwan
@Justin_Kwan Год назад
Yes, chinos or heavy twill would do just fine. However, it's nice to take a casual denim and put a crease in it or in the first example, make it with pleats and a high rise, and mix them into your classical, yet casual, repertoire.

I always thought that jeans with low waist looks too sloppy for me personally, they look too skinny and fall so easily from the waist( which is a bother ) so I asked a tailor to make me a denim trouser with two pleats , with a 17 inch wide leg opening at the bottom and 1.5 inch waistband. I literally think these were the best creative idea that came to my brain in clothing. I wear them almost with everything, sometime with just a tucked in T-shirt, and most importantly, everytime I put them on I feel like myself, I don't have to put a facade that was made by some an ugly trend or some whim of a clothing designer, and I think this is the true intent of having clothes tailored for you, is to feel that you are original and like your true self. just as a suggestion, the color olive looks as nice as an indigo blue with denim fabric and as versatile as well.

Thank you for sharing and I applaud you! It's such an amazing revelation to have denim like that. I'll take your suggestion, and keep my eye open for some olive denim--it does sound enticing!

Would you also iron chinos?
@Justin_Kwan
@Justin_Kwan 7 месяцев назад
If they are wrinkly, yes. But I wouldn't necessarily always iron a front crease. Most of my chinos have a pleat and I find a front crease gives them a clean, crisp and sharp look. It also creates a slimming silhouette, which I like because I have thick thighs. If Chinos are in a 5 pocket jeans style, or a bit slim fitting, I wouldn't press that front crease.

I own a pair of dark dress denim with pleated front like chinos. I always iron a crease in them. Makes them a little less casual. Great video. Cheers Ron

maybe i missed it, but how do you determine where to put the crease on pants without a pleat??
@Justin_Kwan
@Justin_Kwan Год назад
Good question, and an ironing video needs to come next! If you fold the trousers down the center, then try to match the inside seam to run along the outside seam. Make the crease down the center as you keep that inside seam matched up with the outside seam as you lay it flat and press a center crease.

Do you use spray starch then ironing the crease? Or just steam?
@Justin_Kwan

Just steam and some water spritz.

My jeans are the usual low waist but someday it would be nice to venture into a Denim style trouser. I've been getting into slacks a little more lately so it would make a great addition to the wardrobe. Thanks for the info you provide very interesting as always. Keep it up my friend.

Almost at 1k. How do you keep your rise high pants up without suspenders? I had high rise chinos and no matter what they wouldn't stay up even with a belt. They always moved down to my hips

Hi Dominic, good question. I’ll follow-up with a few questions because I’ve seen this issue with some of our customers and it sort of depends on body type. First, is the waist of the chinos snug but not tight? If they are a little loose, gravity will inevitably do it work throughout the day and they will sag. The other consideration is body type, if someone has a bit of a belly and the difference between waist and hips isn’t that big, then it will be hard to keep the chino waist tight enough (with or without a belt) without being a bit too tight or uncomfortable and then gravity throughout the day will do it’s thing. For me, I do have a bit of a belly (I enjoy a few IPAs now and then) so I have this issue sometimes, but I’ll tighten my belt and the rise is high enough that my waistband also overlaps my hip bone and usually they will stay up. A lot of guys I know love braces because the waist doesn’t need to be so tight and they keep the trousers up all day, however I know this can be awkward if you use suspenders but don’t wear a jacket to cover them up.

@@Justin_Kwan Hey thanks for the reply. The waist is snug with a belt. I don't have a belly but you look to be in great shape! I went back to mid rise and it wasn't that much of a difference. The chinos are Spier and Mackay. I tried looking up your website but it's asking for a password. You have great style. Keep up the videos
@Justin_Kwan
@Justin_Kwan Год назад
@@Dominicreviews Hey, maybe it's just gravity doing its thing. If I think about it, I do have to re-adjust my mid or high rise trousers now and then if I'm not wearing suspenders. Thanks for visiting the website but it's under maintenance--a bit of a re-design as I enter the international market with our newly launched ecommerce. Check back in a week, I'll have it launched by then!

I have purchased Haggar Work to Weekend denim jeans in a dark wash. They come with a center crease. I love it. Like you explained in this video, a center crease looks versatile in a variety of combinations and situations. I have also purchased two of their medium wash denim WTW jeans. All of them came with the center crease. I have gotten compliments from the ladies. They like the center crease. Thank you for this video discussion. I use wooden clamp hangars. All of my trousers and jeans hang straight down with no visible fold.

Do their products fit well? I have a few Haggar Cotton Smart Wash Blazers although technically they are Sport coats since they feature patch pockets but I ordered them in Medium since I wanted room to layer underneath plus I understand they are suppose to be somewhat loose especially for the warmer seasons. I just hope they aren't too baggy or the sleeves end up too long. Anyway as you can tell I haven't tried them on yet so just curious. Sorry to bother.
