I notice alot of people dont also pay attention to whether fuujin is charged or not. Rin will now catch you if you try to jump out after a charged fuujin
Im an XBOX player and i was on the outside looking in on this game. Finally decided to get this on PC, but then got a PS5 and got it on there. Feels good actually being able to understand the terminology and mechanics for this game when i watch Strive vids and read the comments lol.
Anji player here. It’s mainly because of people either not bothering to learn the match up or not showing Spin (or Fuujin for that matter) respect. For the latter, people I generally fight seem to know the match up, but they try to hit Anji when he comes out of Spin rather than trying to grab him, PRC, or use projectiles. That’s from my experience.
If you respect the spin and play defensively in general, it's a nightmare for Anji. Bad neutral and a lot of stuff just ends your turn after 1 mixup if your opponent is on point. So you often end up trading 1-2 mixups with low reward meterless for 3+.
Player who refuses to show Fujin respect here. Anji’s one of my personal worst matchups, and I know the reason why, Its cause whenever I block Fujin, I just cannot respect it. I always want to push a button and I get blown tf up for it everytime.
As a former S1 Anji player, it really boils down to the match up not being learned by other players cause he's not common. When I fight him tho, it's easy cause I know everything he does lol I still keep up with his new stuff since I still try him out for a little bit after every patch.
I remember when they did did buffs anji each patch, even when some didn't come to relevance till now, I told myself that anji slowly climbing up there and it'll take one really sweet patch to push him into a real issue fighting against.
Anjis been winning, people finally caught up. Charged fujin into rin, hard to react to overhead, spin requires the opponent play very differently from normal the list goes on. Its like with Goldlewis, people just didnt want to admit he was good until it became so blatant it became absurd to deny it.
My favorite buff was that he can overdrive cancel fujin. It just makes his mix real, if you got the stuff. Just makes the game fun to me because I get to do offensive defense.
Ok BIG THING on the he's uncommon part of the vid He isn't very well explored even by his player base so the exp you may have may not be relevant by someone who's just generally better than who you played Second anji is built on spacing traps where he can by -9 on block and still swing in on you because he did something like far.s spaced out and a lot of the cast doesn't have a good layer 1 response to that thats not commitment heavy
Not gonna lie, I'm not really a GG Strive fan so I found this out of the blue and I thought the title meant "Winning *in popularity*" and I was just going to come and say "Because he's hot and has big titties", then I realized that you meant winning as in win rate 😅
because they made it so he can capitalize on the risks he takes much more than before. Now that he's gonna be more common yall are gonna finally see his left right 5050 and his high low.
@@killerkonnat A left right has been developed for him off a 2d knockdown with 50 meter, currently being explored more in the anjir discord server. both left and right will leave anji able to get a full close slash conversion
Compressor and limiter won't help when the mic is already coming in too hot. He needs to turn down the gain going in and then if he needs to, increase the volume in whatever software he's using, which is also where you'd add a compressor/limiter to gain the loudest sounding audio without the software itself causing distortion from peaking.
can you turn your mic down a bit? you're clipping it so hard, just turn it up in post and if need be compress it a bit please, this is is really uncomfortable to my ears good video tho
@@Josie.770 How are people this deaf to audio quality? The audio is distorted because the mic is too gained. You can get the same volume, probably higher overall volume tbh, by decreasing the mic gain and boosting it in software, add a compressor if you're feeling fancy. Always always always leave at least -5dB headroom, preferably -10dB, then you always have the ability to make it sound decent in post unless the mic you're working with is truly dog.
@@Josie.770 People have different tolerances. It's pretty bad quality, which is also unusual for his vids, though I can make the effort to watch this single vid like this, if it's the norm I wouldn't be so prone to watch other ones for long.
@@Uooooooooooooh Don't let Anji mains read this. They've been constantly saying that Anji has no mix what so ever while Nago repeatedly took tourneys with nothing but mids.
@@HellecticMojo It's not a big deal to get hit by Rin, he needs meter to actually get anything off it, I know getting hit doesn't feel good but if he doesn't have meter you don't need to feel threatened by it. So just guess and punish/take back your turn if you guessed correctly. Anji is a good character now but Nago is/was such a successful tournament character because you don't get many guesses against him while he has alot of HP to spare for guessing, this problem has been somewhat alleviated with the blood gauge defense nerf now.
Anji is also the easiest character execution wise since all of his specials are one motion input and both of his specials are one motion input. I don't think he is going to be popular in tournaments considering he loses slightly to projectile zoning and heavily to meterless reversals but he beats or goes even against ever other character. His best matchup is probably Millia because he has a variety of anti-air options (great corner carry and solid damage off of 6P confirms, Kou loops that deal 40% meterlessly, jD doesn't do a lot of damage normally but can lead into damage from a wall bounce which can occur from a ludicrous distance away from the wall with dash momentum, and of course spin).
@AnonymousFactsSpitter7336 fun fact: Anji Mito's parry has cross up protection but it only goes into the weak parry follow-up (The one that leaves him at a slight disadvantage if blocked) which is important in the Leo matchup so I think he can fight Leo and Nagoriyuki pretty well but high tier counter pick characters are going to be unfavorable (Testament, Baiken, and Ky) and Anji vs HC is sad so definitely not a one character run but maybe as a character to cover up some bad matchups. Edit: Nagoriyuki has the slowest fS in the game and Anji crushes 2 and 1/2 out of 3 and 1/2 of the non-projectile zoners (Yes, I am counting Potemkin as 1/2 a normal zoner because of 6H, 2H, and FDB when I doesn't connect with a projectile is disjointed.)
I think he should have a 3f 2P and a 5f 5P because Kachoufuugetsu Kai (parry super), his only dedicated defensive tool, is too inconsistent for how middle-of-the-road a lot of the rest of his kit is. And reduce Issokutobi (command hop) landing recovery, but that's more a universal system issue than an Anji issue. Otherwise, he's about where I want him to be.
3f is way too much, Chipp's 5p whiffs against crouchers and Sol's 5k has shit ton of recovery, while Anji's 2p has good range for a punch button. 5f 5p is debatable too because of its range. Anji definitely needs buffs, but not kind of this
I think he should get a 4 frame but he never had a 3 frame even in the old games. Although I wouldn't complain if they made him the only 6 frame character and gave him back his old gaurd point nomals which could allow him to preform a very fast version of a special move on the opponent's offense if he catches the opponent's strike during the gaurd point frames on the command normal (it would of course lose to projectiles and reversals).
@@NeoBoneGirl I think you might be thinking of Nagoriyuki 5P (5F and 0 on block) or Chipp 5P (3F and -2 on block). Anji's best jab is 2P and it is the worst of both worlds (5F and -2 on block). Anji's best buttons are 5K, 2K, and cS, for pressure, jK and jD in the air, 5H for neutral, 2S for low profile, and 2H as a meaty. His only good P normal is 6P. His jP has a by far the fastest recovery of his air nomals but it is the second slowest, lowest damage, and leads into nothing. His 5P and 2P are both -2 on block (bad) and +1 on hit (average) and 6F and 5F respectively (bad). Anji's P normals are probably the worst nomals in his kit especially after cS and it's applications in pressure got buffed.
