This car requires a level of commitment that I don't think most people on iracing are well enough equipped to deal with. You REALLY have to trust the car to be quick in it. If you trust it, the car will give you everything it has, but moreso than other cars, it NEEDS you to push it, and push it how it needs to be pushed. The problem is that people don't know how to get everything from it, and I'm confident in saying most people never will learn how to make the car do what they want it to. Which is why this series will remain a crashfest. Its an absolutely wonderful car that I've completely fallen in love with.

Why is it so difficult? Because it's a powerful car with a ton of grip and insane braking. Those things together make the closing speeds very fast. The margin for error is razor thin, especially when the cars are all bunched up at the start. If you react to a guy on the inside, within a blink you've gone too far and hit the guy on the outside. Don't make the mistake of judging split second decisions as if they had as much time as you took to analyze it. That said, going 3 wide into a tight corner, especially a chicane, on lap 1, is never a good idea. You can point fingers all day as to who should have backed out, but the fact is you can only control what YOU do. Keep up the great videos, man.

Oh, you are describing why Super Formula is so much fun, I agree. But yeah, if you do not practice with it, it will go crazy on you. If you train that 85-90% level, you will have loads of fun.

Its most likely difficult because most folks jump in too fast a car too quick. Iracing penalty system doesn't even come close to mirroring real life. Turn 1/Lap 1 crashes on cold tires are common because if we crash we can just jump in another race an hour or so from now and crash again. This is a simulation unless your an alien or Max Verstappen master the slower cars first at the highest splits before moving on. Test Drive in iracing is the greatest practice tool ever. use your free track time go to practice sessions of live races and practice driving in traffic, if your slow dont race.

I started two weeks ago and have been racing solely in Super Formula since I got my B license. So far, I'm quite happy with my progress. I'd rather focus on the series I want to stay in and invest my time in getting faster in this car than spending time in lower series trying to master cars I won't use in the future. My main focus is on not causing crash incidents. I do time trials and AI races with the same setup between races to improve my lap times step by step. The key is to be respectful, let obviously faster racers through without causing a crash, and avoid the initial carnage, which will happen every time. There's no need to "waste" time and money in lower series. I follow these steps and it's super fun. A couple more races and I can get my laptime down to top 5 which will make it even funnier :)

It's you. And like most people on iRacing or sim racing, don't take it seriously enough and act like it's a game. You need to set a goal lap time and practice until you achieve it. Use test or practice sessions, you will learn and get better ffs. Doesn't everyone want to win a race??? Because you're never going to get good at sim racing until you simulate it in your mind and act like if you crash, you will get hurt or at least cost yourself 1,000s of dollars in damage. Honestly, you can really see the difference with drivers who chose the invisible halo option.

@jsaleen Hold your finger in front of your face. Now look past it to something in the distance (in front of your finger). Is your finger completely blocking your view? Nope. The (mostly) transparent option in sim, is pretty close to having two eyeballs, looking past the halo pillar, and down the track.

LOL! I hate to shatter your illusions, but it IS a game. Like it or not, people can play it however they want, within the sporting code, at least. If you want a grid full of purists, you should join a league. iRacing may be a sim, but it's still meant to be fun. And how do you think achieving a goal lap time makes one a better racer? Plenty of guys can put down quick times, but can't do 5 laps without spinning. Or they completely fall apart when driving in a pack. Everyone should practice, of course, but people are here to race, not to practice until YOU think they are good enough to share the track with you. How is Scott driving like he doesn't take it seriously enough, anyway? On one hand you say he should drive like he'll actually get hurt or have to pay for repairs. Then on the other you say everyone should strive to win, which usually means taking more risks. 99% of us are amateurs, dude. Shit happens and it's going to continue to happen. The fact is the vast majority of drivers ARE trying to race clean. Put your races up on youtube and I'll bet my whole rig that we find plenty of things about your driving to criticize.
