During Nintendo Direct 2024, everyone was shocked that they announce that Marvel vs Capcom 2 is back as part of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection.
Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is a fighting game compilation by Capcom, in cooperation with Marvel Games, which serves as a successor of Marvel vs. Capcom Origins. It features all 2D Marvel licensed games which were first released in Arcade port, from The Punisher (1993) to Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, released between 1993 to 2000. It is scheduled to release in late 2024, on Playstation 4 (cross compatible on PlayStation 5), Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows (via Steam).
It is part of Capcom Fighting Collection compilation series.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (a.k.a. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 or MvC2) is the fourth game of the Marvel vs. Capcom series of fighting games. With the (presumably) final installment of the series, Capcom simplified the engine so that it would be more accessible to casual players, in order to bring in new players, as interest in arcade fighting games had declined.
