“this film is not yet rated” is something on all movies before release date. Having periods shouldn’t be a controversial topic; almost every girl goes through one. showing it through tv movies or shows is kinda a great way to let little kids know it’s nothing to be ashamed about, because many of them are embarrassed.
@gamerboiiiiiii Eh, not really, as a dude its actually kinda interesting to learn about tbh. Humans are literally skin suits for bones and a whole bunch of organs, so it doesn't really matter to me if it's "gross" or not.
The emotions being a mix of boys and girls could just be because most people have a mix of feminine and masculine traits. While some (like the mom and dad) are mostly just masculine, or just feminine. Or, the mom and dad only had one gender of emotions each for the moms vs dad's gag. A group of moms vs a group of dads.
I believe that it was like traits being passed down. She got some boy emotions and girl emotions. This does not make her non binary. And she isnt gay. Everyone forgot about her boyfriend i guess? Oh well.
@@PorkedParade-rm9qe there not saying she is gay they are saying that she will be trans just because she has a mix. And if Riley were trans I think it would have to be in the first movie, because that was just me that they were going to take away of the emotions that were females
It's just feelings, a part of the phase of growing and maturing rather than saying turning trans or whatsover. Personally speaking from experience, I've had boyish emotions throughout teenage life but by the time I turn 18, I slowly become more feminine and a woman. I grew out of it. Hopefully, it's the whole point that Disney will be focusing on.
Or maybe its because her personality varies?? Maybe she has girly traits and boyish traits. Idk that's just my theory. I don't rlly want a kids movie to get into all the controversial pronoun/ transgender stuff..
My main issue is poeple say the "evidence" of riley being gender neutral is the different gendered emotions but the reason of the other emotions being different gendered is character design anger is angry business man fear a cowardly dork, disgust a snobbish teenager girl etc
but they also made the emotions of the parents of only one gender... even if they didnt mean to say that Riley is gender neutral or that her emotions are different, thats what they showed. Makes sense there are so many theories, especially considering there's a lack of nonbinary representation in media
@shark_bee the patents emotions are also VERY plain and just copies of hers to save time on designing, her parents emotions aren't the main focus so they won't get much character.
It's gonna be rated pg even though it's probably gonna be just g. Most kids films rated pg aren't really pg there just g. Honestly name one recent Disney movie that was worth a pg rating. Not marvel not Pixar but Disney exclusively
Turning red also had a big scene about periods... I think it's great more kids movies are touching on this subject, some kids as young as 10 or even under can get them and it's a perfectly natural process, not something to be ashamed about. Society not talking about it only teaches kids that periods are gross and, by proxy, their own body is gross. Considering periods are already hard enough (bloating, cramps, mood swings, cravings, body aches, etc) especially when discovering them for the first time when you're already in a really hectic time of your life and just entering puberty, seeing kids your age talk about them on movies, validate your fears and make you realize it's normal and not something to be ashamed of is awesome.
For real! It’s so sad how it comes to a huge shock to people that it gets brung up in a movie, it shouldn’t be so shocking. It’s only good if people learn about periods, no matter which gender. Because people have to stop alienating periods.
I understand all of that but if I'm being completely honest this is some stuff parents are supposed to talk to their kids about themselves. Not a giant red panda shaking her ass at her mom. I think that should be enough to tell you the real reasons why people don't like the movie. And it's because it can be described as one thing. (Hint: it's a commonly used word on the internet to describe things that are physically repulsi-) yeah it's cringe. Even for a movie about teenagers. 😐 I don't care about the periods but the characters and the things they did were so god awful that I left that stuff 33 minutes in. Given the memes I've seen of the ending the rest of it did turn out about as awful as I expected. This is less of an issue about the fact that they're talking about periods and more of just an actual opinion on the movie. (Or at least most of the time it is when you see people crapping on turning red.)
@@Mutantthefurry it already is. Literally ever since Twitter existed. (That's an exaggeration, it was probably common at least a decade before that but you still get my point. Twitter even managed to normalize things that shouldn't be normalized. I'm sure you'll know what that is, whether it's just messed up kids or awful leftist ideologies.) I mean yeah they're obviously some things that you keep to yourself, I'm not exactly going to walk around telling people that I finally started growing pubes except for my parents, so I would think it would be common sense that teenage girls don't tell random people that they started bleeding from their vagina except for their parents. But other than that I'm pretty sure everybody knows it as a common thing at this point.
Honestly I hope they do touch on the topic of menstruation. It’s a normal function and shouldn’t be shushed just cause it’s “disgusting” or “inappropriate” it’s not inappropriate. And stating it as such just makes young girls feel ashamed or embarrassed of having their periods. Plus if the movie dives into puberty, then it would be weird if they didn’t mention periods since it’s like the first thing people think of when it comes to female puberty lol
I find it so sad that many women feel disgusted about one of their normal body functions, because they've been taught for most of their lives that it's gross. And it's not helped that men, who have little personal experience, have the whole process hidden from them so that when it does come up they will inevitably find it weird and uncomfortable. It's a never ending cycle of shame for something that's really very mundane.
I just hope they don't make it awkward again. I myself am quite comfortable talking about everything from boobs to periods with my friends, and I'm sick of them being treated as hush-hush topics, but I feel severe second hand embarrassment which is why I still haven't technically sat down and watched all of Turning Red
My theory is that Riley gets her emotions from her mom and dad but as she grows into her own person her emotions will start to actually look like her like the parents
As an adult with 4 kids... I actually like this theory. Most of my emotions since being a parent have been mostly my own parents. After about 10 years, only just starting to become my own person. Definitely without self awareness or deep reflection, it Definitely conditioning. My reactions were a mix of hormones and hidden in my subconscious, my parents emotions. Now, I do what my parents never did for me and I respect them, grateful for them... but communication and emotional support have made our household quiet peaceful and non toxic.
I remember when inside out first came out and just the title was written on the movie theatre display sign and I thought it was going to be a horror movie
Same ^^ I like the animation, music, and story of the first so i'm pretty happy this is getting a sequel. I honestly don't get whats the drama with the gender of the emotions or Riley. If she's cis good, if she isn't good. The caracter will go where it's going to go and i just hope people won't dig themselves in a hole or start fighting for no reasons TwT
@elik.8113 Okay, well then there should be no parents shown or crushes on opposite sex 🤷♀️ there shouldn’t be any interaction as well between the characters. I don’t think you understand what political is bud.
@@CaptainGrat75 your taking things way too far than what I meant. Interacting is just being social. What I don’t want is agendas being pushed in this movie
A disorder and an emotion are different, anxiety is an emotion that anyone can have. An anxiety disorder is a bit more rare as less people have them. They aren't saying that she has a diagnosed anxiety disorder. They are just saying that she is growing up a bit more and having a bigger range of emotions
I think it’s fine to talk about “the time of the month” because in the Netflix show “The Babysitter’s Club” one of the characters gets her period at her mom’s wedding, and her friends actually give her a pad.
How dare you question Riley's gender. Her emotions are set apart from everyone else's because she is the main character. Her gender is obviously female.
Bro is overthinking it all. The main reason it’s gotten very popular is because the first movie IMPLIED a second movie. The end of the movie was a clue for the sequel. The puberty button!
Everyone has at some point in their lives, and most if not all grow out of it. Hopefully, Disney focuses on exploring the emotions being emotions only.
Riley é apenas uma garota normal, inspirada na filha do diretor de Inside Out, Pete Docter era o diretor do filme e ele se inspirou em sua própria filha para criar a personagem Riley
Agreed i'm bi and i actually like it when cartoons or shows show queer characters cus it gives representation but it annoys me when people make drama on it when it's not even a part of it. Cus then people get mad at eachother and it ruins it weather ther are queer caracters or not :/
@@Acorn905 I think they should add mostly straight characters and some LGB characters to balance realisticness and representation although i don't mind a good mix of both either. But I'm totally against making characters that were originally straight LGB just like I'm against race swapping characters. I really hope Riley isnt lesbian because the original movie implied she's straight (if you remember her encounter with that boy). And like he said in the video, Riley should be relatable to a wide audience. being directed at teens is already narrow enough it doesn't need to be narrowed down even more by making her lesbian. don't get me wrong, I'm not against representation, I just think they shouldn't alter existing characters for it.
Their “little girl” could change. I know when I was 12, my parents and mind thought I’d stay a girl, but going into teenaged years, I found myself to be nonbinary. People change, so there is a possibility.
They also weren't aware that there was going to be new emotions arriving. The resolve of the first movie also makes it a point that Joy didn't initially see the true value of Sadness. It is clear that Joy isn't fully knowledgeable about everything going on. So taking her word as fact is unreliable.
the thing is that everyone is talking about it because of the timing. They should’ve done this in like 20222 so they can save Pixar from the horrors. In the meantime this is the start probably.
Riley is none gendered Bc her emotions are male and female but her mother is all female emotions and her father is all male emotions but Riley is both male and female emotions
Actually, I don't understand why periods are taboo. Plus, it's natural like eating, drink, breath... Evry girls had/have/will have it. That's people who make it taboo
@@Tamashiifuxk racism and HIV what is a uncomfortable topic and guess what PSA exited for you to learn a little bit about it so we can be better people and make better choices instead of just ignorant about it
Inside out showed me that the world isn’t perfect, 8 years ago I was an innocent 7 year old I watched this movie and almost cried seeing the reality of life, that’s why I love this movie sooo much and I can’t wait for them to go through other emotions like anxiety which is something every one struggles with e.g. me
People are already believing that the film would have Riley being non-binary. That would be controversial for many. Because apparently non-binary people only exist when they're 18. Who knew?
@@Rozercover_thegreat ik they make up their own characters sexuality in movies where they’re animated pressuring the company into following their ideology by either calling that company homophobic or something like that or even just cancelling them
It’s also 2023 (2024 when the movie comes out), and a LOT of teens experience anxiety, ennui, envy and embarrassment (the newest emotions in the sequel) early on, and as gen z comes to the age of Adulthood, they are STILL figuring out their emotions. And as social media platforms rise, as do depression rates in most teenagers in America. (Hope this helped anyone!) ALSO: at 6:11, Turning Red touched the topic
I was 6 when Inside Out came out. Now I'm a Freshman in highschool. And I suffer from SEVERE anxiety. My mental health issues surfaced because of COVID. So I wouldn't have known if it wasn't because of COVID.
You know what's funny, everyone is talking about how they got their first period in thier early teenagehood, but I got it when I was 9 at the school swimmming lesson :')
The way people keep thinking that Riley is bi just because she has both boy and girl emotions is just weird. Like bro it’s just a movie stop bringing lgbtq++++++++++++++++++++++++ into this.
just a movie nah bc y’all ain’t gonna say that when there is some sort of lgbtqia+ content in the movie 💀💀💀 I KNOW angry twitter moms are gonna be throwing tantrums if there is 😭
Here's the deal though if Disney does do this route it's still completely controversial because of the way they're handling the LGBTQ + community right now they're using it as marketing in thare parks but they're Hypocrites as they signed to the do not say gay bill as much as I want representation from them legitimately im not entirely sure if I want it from Disney at this point in time
@@musicallytalented16 ok now I DO not think this way I believe its important for kids to understand and or be seen by lgbtq shows it's IMPORTANT to have this in are mainstream media i was talking about how im concerned disney is NOT doing this for the right reasons that's why I HATE it that disney signed the don't say gay bill in the 1st place
I’ve always felt Disney was always with lgbtq And I know they are but my parents give me limits of what I can watch bc of this:( But I think the reason Riley has boys and girls is bc boys AND girls watch the movie? And the would be kinda sexist The reason the mom has only girls is bc it supposed to represent the idk mom essence?? Same for the dad but they shouldn’t be bringing lgbtq in kids movie (This was a lot to write)😭
I was like 4 when it came out but I don't remember when I watched it, I can't wait because I have been waiting so long for a sequel, and if its garbage, I am going to cry
Can the fandoms stop making everything LGBTQ+. Like its just so irrelevant and weird to make a literal 11/13 yo non-binary or some shit like that. Im not homophobic.
@user-xz9mi4jz9s I'm one of those people who do that and I'm non binary and u clearly have a issue with that even tho it doesn't affect ur life but u still feel the need to bully us.
First of all im not bullying but doing weird shit like that is just weird all of above so don't try to assume that im being homophobic and now apparently "bullying" you for your wrongdoings. Fix yourself.@@JuniperBlues
Theres 2 sides, one half of me thinks they just goofed up trying to be inclusive and made her emotions both boys and girls, and the other half of me thinks what if they really did do that on purpose…
Sorry people want ONE movie out of HUNDREDS that have NB representation It must be soooo hard for you to see 1 queer thing out of 100 things you see every day, so sad, I feel sooooooo bad for you
I’m pretty mad. Having periods is normal, it’s completely natural. Most people get them one week, one time a month. Now, why should it be so serious if an animated movie were to talk about that? That would only teach people how normal it is to have periods. And also the thing about LGBTQ+. It’s normal, it’s natural. It should be more normalised and it shouldn’t be such a huge topic that someone has discovered their identity in a movie. It’s normal, it’s a part of life. It’s honestly really sad how people won’t accept that.
i cant wait for this film because when i was around 6-7, i watched inside out, and to me was up there with finding nemo and cars, now im 13 and i still cant wait for this flim
I watched the first part when I was 10 and lived on the other part of the world. Now I’m 19, married, live in US and can’t wait to see the second part.
As a non-binary person, I feel like people, claiming Riley is non-binary without actual evidence that she is is very, very very disrespectful and offensive
As another nonbinary person, I disagree. Just because a character has little-to-no evidence on if they're nonbinary doesn't mean you can't headcanon them as such.
“LGBTQ+ gets so much attention these days! Can’t we just have a normal movie😡!” I’m sorry what😭? Let me guess, you guys who say this want ALL movie sequels to stay the EXACT same as the original cuz otherwise it will “ruin the movie”. You do realise that people can change. And lgbtq+ people have fought for centuries. Having a gender neutral character, especially a main character is honestly amazing! Seeing that there’s a chance that bigger movies aren’t scared of showing lgbtq+ anymore is a big thing!
Personally, I think the reason Riley's head works differently from other characters is that she's neurodivergent. More specifically, adhd. Is this just me projecting because I also might have adhd? Most likely.
I don't think Riley has mixed Gender or is Gender neutral, having a neutral name with neutral emotions doesn't mean your gender neutral, since this is a kids movie, it was trying to simplify the emotions that we all go through and of course we feel more, but this would make sense if they didn't want to make this movie too complicated, and I think that by the emotions combining at the end of the film sort of explains how the basics of emotions work. Her parents' emotions, being male and female in contrast to Riley's emotions, is probably to differentiate them from Riley's emotions. (Please don't hate on me. This hasn't been confirmed yet, so it's what I think)
This is the only explanation i can accept. Too many creep are in the comment section speaking about the 11 yo sexuality. We dont have to put kids in boxes,/ stereotypes. The can decide themselfs what they like and enjoy. Seriously, this "non binary" trend sounds like a kind of new sexism.
@Kaczyfunny agreed, we should just wait for confirmation rather than looking too hard into things. This is a kids' movie trying to explain emotions, not a kids' movie trying to explain what gender this child is.
Yeah uh 4:00 I have anxiety which I didn’t know of and I figured out in a very interesting way. Not healthy at all,I also have adhd and don’t take medicines,it’s difficult and I EXTREMELY relate to this one emotion. 6:49 I think it’s ok but if child movies start talking about this, movies might have more probabilities of not being for all ages, having a period is nothing to be ashamed of and I’m 10. I got my period when I was 10 and the next year I’m going to be 11,having a period is very normal and every girl has one of will have one In the future.
damn I was 5 when this came out I thought it would just never get a sequel now im 13💀 *AND IT DID GET A SEQUEL* ive been lied to for 7 years................................................
I know this is probably out of topic but I feel good how Pixar made a movie that was about a girl that moved from Minnesota to San Francisco, and I feel good cause I live in Minnesota, Minnesota doesn't get that much mentions, Inside Out is such a good movie and I'm not sure if I'm gonna like these new characters
