That's something I love about From Software games. The dying animations takes a few seconds and while your body is falling and fading, the enemy AI still registers you as an enemy. So these motherfuckers are just relentlessly attacking your corpse even after you're dead. It's such a *fuck you* moment and it usually makes me laugh, even when I'm frustrated.

a couple months back i went and did a playthrough of every halo campaign on legendary. halo 2 probably took the longest due to its difficulty but i honestly prefer it over halo 3. i know im gonna get alot of hate for this but theres something about halo 3 that i really dont like and it makes it one of my least favourite halos.

And to add to that, get ready to die, over, and over, and _over._ It is inevitable. Also, play with a buddy in co-op if you attempt your first legendary run, it is a great way to ease yourself in, dip your toes in slowly so to speak, so you don't immediately go into shock and drown in all the frustration and anger😂. Man I miss those days, Halo CE and 2 were pure magic, beating Halo 2 solo on legendary was basically like getting the congressional medal of honor, as far as your peers were concerned😂.

In general, Brutes take massively increased damage from explosions, so grenades and needles tend to be the best route to dispatching them

I played H2 when I was a kid on legendary, never thought it was difficult. It just took a lot of patience and good peeking. The only exception is that goddamn level with the Scorpion also the Sniper Jackals but they were quick to deal with once you figured out their general spawn time. Also just realised I made a comment on this video 5 years ago lol.

Tip that people don't realise with needlers They fire faster when you tap the triggers quickly Vs just holding them down I'd argue the fire rate is near double this way

From what i've seen so far Halo 2 Legendary basically seems like a naked baby fighting the Predator.

i remember meleeing an elite combat form like 7 times on normal/easy difficulty when i was younger and it easily shrugs the damage off and kills me. i was definitelly viewing halo 2 through nostalgia lenses because you couldnt pay me to play this shit on legendary.

That's a cool challenge! I had a young family friend play Halo 2 a few years back, and as a joke, I made him do the mission Quarantine zone, solo, on legendary. He died a bunch so I went and grabbed dinner (it was a family party type thing). When I came back he was halfway through and I made sure he didn't change the difficulty. Needless to say, he beat the damn mision, and he was 8. As an adult who grew up with Halo I'll always be embarrassed I never even played Halo 2 on Legendary.

futbolluva In tank, Stay decent distance away from enemy units and focus turret fire on fast moving targets/banshees. Fire tank at the front tip for close banshee/ghost, just ahead for mid, and half- 1 cm ish for long range. In hog have a marine man the gun and drive evasively. With some practices you'll find its actually quite easy. Source: halo 2 pro who ate legendary for breakfast.

I realized that all my achievements for Halo 2 were for my old profile so I fired up Halo 2 (for Windows) in late 2016 and boy what a crap storm that was. It was just sheer stubbornness that kept me going as I ground through the game. There were checkpoints that required a dozen attempts until I got lucky and made it. In the end I did a whole lot of running and jumping in what is probably the most cowardly Spartan II service record of all time.

The gondola section of Regret was the worst for me. Trapped in a small space with partial cover while being attacked by jet pack dual wielding Elite rangers. The only thing that worked for me was stockpiling needlers on board before setting out.

Just a heads up/correction on a few things: firstly, Chief does have health in H2, but it is invisible to the player. it recharges slowly. Cryphon mentions this a few times in some of his speed runs, and he is the best OG Halo2 player in the world. Second, game glitches really do need to be utilized to make some parts of this game more fair. E-swords can be used to destroy the flood even after it has run out of ammo. Sword flying is a must if you want to survive. double shot battle rifle should always be done. pocket reloading is essentially required as well. Third, the chief's hit box, I believe, becomes larger as the difficulty increases. One of the speed running tactics is to get a marine in any vehicle that you are piloting. Marine's have rather small hit boxes and enemy fire will *frequently* miss them. if you are solo, they will melt you rather quickly. Finally, a horrifically unfair game mechanic is flood with shotguns. they can snipe with their shot gun. it is completely unfair as chief will see it spread so that it (rightly) is only useful in close range. Flood can fire it with zero spread from half way across the map, and still land a headshot

The Game ja difficult, but that it is what People want. These days all Games are too easy! There are barely any challenging Games anymore. Its called legendary for a reason. If people find it too difficult, they play easy or normal. This game forces you to be carefull and not run and jump through the campaign.. it is meant to be a Challenge! I spent HOURS on Long Night of Solace, trying to get the par time on legendary (trying to beat Reach under 3 hours solo) I did it eventually but christ, it changed me.

When I first played reach on legendary on mcc, I ran out of ammo in pillar of autumn at the shipyard, and had to kill the brutes with a plasma pistol and spiker. It was torture but the rest of the game was very doable except for long night of solace. You really have to keep the seraphs off your tail to live.

They fire shots quicker than the speed of light, they'll actively try to avoid your grenades, their damage is even higher to the point where it's like you're wearing tissue paper. Although Halo 2's Legendary is the worst in the franchise, the other games are not much better. I've tried all Halo games on Legendary and believe me it's not fun. People say CE is "fair" but that's a load of BS. Not to mention the damage players do on them is next to nothing. And it sucks that every NPC gets an upgrade in rank, making it even harder. Have you played Reach and ODST? Heroic is super difficult on those two

I like legendary in halo because it tests my skills as a player and is just generally fun( because I like challenges as a gamer). I can understand why some people don’t like legendary because of the challenge but to outright call it bad because you don’t know how to or want to adapt by taking cover instead of running and gunning is ridiculous ( note idk know your play style but that’s what most people who complain about legendary say)

Nope, sorry. I´m not sure if you've ever played the other games, but I´ll tell you that it´s definately there. The games has *always* been designed to play on Heroic difficulty. The player shield health, Enemy shield health, weapon damage, AI accuracy and difficulty etc is "normalized" at Heroic. Easy is for those who´s console-fps noobs or are only in it for the story, all the values are halfed for the enemies and doubled for the player. Normal is inbetween that and Heroic. Legendary is 1.5 to 2 times as hard depending on the game in the series. It´s even in the actual code. That is if you actually doubt the fact that it literally says "this is the way Halo is meant to be played" in Halo:CE, Halo 2 and Halo 4 as well, which it does. I can't tell for Halo 5 because I don´t own it. But since the other 6 games are made like this, why would they suddenly deviate from it? I´m sure it´s even been covered several times on Q&A´s with bungie or 343i in the past. If it hasn´t, it makes me glad, because it´s a stupid question to ask when it´s there literally. In writing. So I don´t know where you've gotten the idea that it doesn't from ._.

+James ZD6 In Halo: Easy is unlosable, Normal needs you to just pay attention, Heroic needs you to be good, Legendary requires you to know the game deeply. Shift all of these up one level for Halo 2, with Legendary being the mentioned "Fuck You difficulty".

+James ZD6 Uh..they don't say you're stupid. That is simply the way Halo was meant to be played before. Bungie with Halo 2 just had balancing issues. Until they finally decided Heroic was a "good difficulty" in Halo 3, ODST, and Reach. So yes, Says the games themselves. Only in Halo 3, ODST, Reach, and Halo 4 are the only Halo games where heroic is the perfect difficulty. For every other game? Legendary, no doubt about it.

Legendary ain't so bad when you're speedrunning. Just uh, don't introduce a friend to Halo Co-Op with H2 Legendary. Perma-Iron skull is for hardcore friends who know what they're getting into, and what their relationship will go through as well XD

That room is tough, but not so bad with some well-timed and well-placed grenades while paying attention to the enemies shooting at you while trying to pay attention to when the guys are spawning from the boarding craft while paying attention to how much ammo you have while .... I'll just stop right there!

Brent Granger I think I hit the checkpoint to that room with two sticky grenades and almost dry on ammo. I was determined to beat it as-is and had to take a strategy of quickly recovering a fallen alien weapon. Luckily, plasma pistol + anything else was available (lots of grunts).

Problem with that logic is why the fuck would you bother wearing armor if you'll instantly die anyway?

El Psy cause they dont instantly. The mjonir still has the Energy shield,which dissipates the energy and heat from the plasma blast. Problem is that it overloads after a certain amount. All things considered, the armor is still a tremendous line of defense for Spartans. Without the E. Shields, the plasma would hace melted the armor down (it still has some natural resistance due to the alloy of the plating) within 2 shots

@@aricente then explain the SEVERE downgrade from Mark V to Mark VI, oh the shields recharge faster? Well thats great, considering they're ten times more useless. You can try explain it away using lore but the truth is that Halo 2's difficulty is just broken.
