I am extremely happy to see that you guys have sorted out the problems and focused on what you found important! Really glad the videos are up again! Can't wait to see what you'll teach us from your new experiences. I've had many projects which seemed never to end because of external factors that I haven't got any control over. It's tough, you get a little depressed when things don't come together, but you push through, postpone, figure out solutions and get back on it. Good luck with the film!

You guys are the UK version of Film Riot and we love your content. I did not know the struggle that you guys were going through and I feel your pain. If you were to produce a detailed BTS documentary and offer it for sale, I think people would buy it (I know I would). On a separate note, how can we get this channel more views? I feel like you guys need a lucky break from some exposure by a big social media site - maybe No Film School. What other sites could help do you think? Keep up the great work, cheers Tony

We are planning on producing an extended BTS (30 mins) for each film we make inside our 'film packs', which we will be selling on our Film Look Store, so stay tuned for them! We actually have a Film Double Pack on the store now, we just haven't found a place to plug it on a video yet haha. We've actually been featured on No Film School about 40 times over the last few years, which has got us this far! I think, just keep watching, and tell some of your filmmaking friends. That would be more than enough, Tony! The rest, we are working on under the hood.

Wow what a string of bad luck boys! But I totally feel ya, can sometimes seem like one thing after the other is going wrong. I've been doing RU-vid for one year now, doing weekly uploads in the past few months, and know the pressure of trying to keep an algorithm which is working against you happy as well as produce high quality content. Keep it up, it's creators who put the extra effort into their videos who once are discovered stand out, it just takes time but people will find you and stay as you've got a backlog of high quality content! Which you can be proud of as you didn't just stick at it half assed, you made the right choices!
@TheFilmLook
@TheFilmLook 4 года назад
A string of back luck, indeed! But it feels like we have been rewarded for taking the darker fork in the road at points. We wouldn't have been able to build a bigger studio if we decided to move out of the building. The risk has paid off...so far!

You are definitly one of the best film making channels. I guess you use a lot of time on each RU-vid video aswell. Thank you for making such great videos. I have learned a lot form you guys! Great video today. I love how the new studio is. The green walls makes it so much more cinematic for you scenes. Your style is very unique :-) I am working on a horror short and I messed up so much. The planning... we just went to location and shot without a plan. We shot in rain and in a forest without electricity. totally 25 hours on locations so far... Have been editing for the whole day. I have learned so extremely muc h from my mistakes. I feel I did thousands of mistakes... but hey, that's how you learn. I have it fun and that is the most important. I think we can save the movie in the edit. This was the first production I have ever rented gear (Aputure 300D). it worked great for imitating the moon in the forest, but we just had it for one night so I had to use my light panels, which is not so good. 100 Dollars so not too bad for the light+ 4 v-mount batteries. I shot in V-logL on the Gh5 and that was a mistake because the Log makes dark scenes full of noise. I didn't think of that before shooting. I had too much other stuff to think about. It is not easy to be the director, DP, editor, controll of the lights in a dark cold forest. I have elarned so much and I will be taking all of this with me to my main short film that I have told you about before. I will not do these mistakes again... or I will try my best not to. It can happen again. The most imprtantly I have learned is planing, planing, planing. You need a good plan. You can't just go out and shoot. Wow... this was a long comment! 😅😅
@TheFilmLook
@TheFilmLook 4 года назад
Thanks for sharing Vegard! It sounds like you made it out alive which is the most important thing! Your mistakes will only make the next film stronger! Great stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Please send it over when it is published!

Thanks for speaking a truth about filmmaking that no one speaks about... more goes wrong than goes right. That the art of filmmaking is really problem solving... dealing with so many obstacles and adversity, both in the field and in our lives, until we solve as many as it takes to get that final edit and all the post work done and say, “YES! It’s Done!” And taking a beat to enjoy that moment before we beat ourselves up picking apart the imperfection of what we have just gone through in that entire process, so we may learn from it and apply those lesson in making a BETTER Film the next time! Glad to have you guys back! Keep up the GREAT work! 👍

👏👏👏 Such an insight on producing content! You show how you make your decision on which content you decide to make. So many times you want to work on bigger projects, but they take more resources and time. You also you have to balance it with content that "pays the bills" and the ones that take less time to produce. This is so important to keep in mind when your favorite RU-vidrs pause/stop making content. It's not always] because they don't feel like it, but you have to find answers those answers that would otherwise be less obvious. I took an unplanned break similar to when you guys did. Took up painting to have a creative outlet, that would be totally for myself. I was able to post more now, but I'm still learning how to balance the content I make, products and the personal projects. It always about choosing what to focus on. I often think about what films are worth making, maybe a bit too much ... (ahem ha cash grab..) Someday that will happen lol I can see how much work went into this video! You made a good one! Excited to see your studio grow. Maybe there's enough room for The Film Look Cook Book ;) You guys have come far sense I stumbled upon a 1k sub channel at the time. Would love to talk to you more about this!

We are loving your most recent videos. Dope or Nope is a wicked idea, and it also gives you the chance to let your personality shine through, which is just as important. It's the "You" part of RU-vid after all! How's the new job going? You must be coming up to 1 year now? We'll get the cook book sorted some day. We wrote like 3 episodes for it, but binned them years ago. We might bring them back!
