Narcissists don’t know how to love or be a friend; they can’t afford to spare the energy to learn, because they’re always in a state of high emergency, cataloging potential threats and redoubling their defenses. When they claim to love you, it means nothing. They may even think they mean it, but they don’t understand the concept - they can’t feel it. They never attach to you or anyone else. Other people are paper cut-outs to the narcissist, like those cardboard figures of celebrities you pose next to for a selfie. Narcissist value their own children only as mirrors of themselves. When they destabilize you or attack you, it means nothing. They are stuck in an endless conversation with themselves, in which you are an inanimate object, to be assigned their own faults and used as a surrogate punching bag for their hatred of themselves. When they toss you out, it’s no more meaningful than a junkie tossing away a needle; when they try to reel you back in, it only means that they tired of the new drug and need a hit of the old. None of this is personal. They’re too terrified to have personal relationships, opting instead for extraction of admiration from a subservient partner whose range of action they strictly constrain. This is not personal. None of it. The narcissist does not know who you are - it doesn’t know how to know other people. Like the vampire or the chainsaw-wielding creature in the horror film, it’s from another world, bereft of the concept of human connection. He thought that he was going to be able to somehow convince me to become one of his side pieces after we divorced. He kept asking me over and over to be his friend. I kept having to tell the dumb dumb, "NO, I can't be your friend." I finally asked him, "Why would I want to be friends with a liar and a cheat that stole 32 years of my life that I can never get back?!?" It is NOT on my list of things to do. I will NEVER allow that creature to be in my life or near me EVER again....
It's been 2 years since I went no contact with my ex. She tried to hoover me back in Feb through FB but I remained silent even when she tried to guilt trip me. I stayed silent. What helped me was the Parable of the Wheats and the Tares. Also, in Matthew 12: 43-45. There were times before the reverse discard I was talking to more than one entity. I got that order of protection. So while he’s dragging this divorce out, the assaults I have documented and his vitreal is more than well-documented. He will die alone and scared. And it’s not my problem! The Good Word has set me free! I’m gonna move along in peace. Praise Jesus!
I left the narc on January 1st 2015 and have not seen him since; however, he has ingratiated himself into my family and has driven a wedge between me and my elderly grandparents. He is invited to family events and I’m not. We were never married and I do not have any children with him. He has not made any direct contact with me because he is a ‘vulnerable’ and very insecure narc, but I think he is waiting for the opportunity to cross paths with me at my family events. I have stopped attending altogether because like you just said, I have an unwanted fan, and it’s annoying to say the least. How pathetic. I don’t know what woman is dating him, knowing that he is still close to his exes family members. What a weirdo 😳
Dealing with this now. He doesn't want me back but continues to email during times he shouldn't, keeps mentioning his partner in his emails what they are doing. I don't give a damn what he's doing. Just want him to stick to the parenting plan. And leave me the hell alone.
This is what I'm dealing with -set the boundary of only speaking if it's regarding our daughter & he'll call to ask something about her then the convo begins fr there ...I caught on this is what he's doing to be able to speak to me ...he is involved w/someone & yet tells me when I'm finally with someone is when he knows he's lost me & worst is that he knows me daughter tells me things so he'll tell her stuff for that reason-now you don't even know what's the truth or not
I’m dealing with this now. Sadly, I’ve had to cut my adult daughter out of my life. I’m trusting God and leaving it in his hands. Protecting my peace, healing, and living a good life is top priority. I know one day she will see the truth but it’s not my place to force it on her. Patience is essential to make it through this storm.

I will remember those words all my life Our main brake up was 2 years ago and until this april she came back many times playing yoyo's between me and other supply.... I've been her main grade A supply for 7 years....

Long before I started hearing npd words describing a Narc and ever hearing videos on this topic, one of the things I used to say to him was, you collect people, bcuz he always had ppl, esp women around him. He referred to these women as his friends even all during our 10-year relationship. All these women had to do was ask him for a favor, he was there. They knew he and I were together but that didn't stop them from asking for favors. When I hear the word collect, I smile bcuz I was on o something and didn't know it! That's only one of a million things I was on to but kept forgiving over n over. I'm now 2 yrs Narc free and he's still hovering. Never want to see his mug again in life. I think my ex narc will attack- my head is on a swivel. He was driving yesterday in my building parking lot- private property- thank God I saw him quickly and there were people around.

Yeah I’ve met more then one narcissist in my life until I finally learned my lesson from the most high (Jesus)…. I finally got b back on Facebook after years later and all of them spied on my profile 😅 saw all my exs popped up as suggestions hmm I don’t have the same number I changed my number more then once 😂 I haven’t even checked up on any of those birds 🐦 I could care less I’m single, dependent on my father up in heaven don’t need no narcissistic or toxic exs
