Enjoy your vids man and glad you speak your mind! I agree seeing the little made in Indiana on all these "fancy" bottles makes me think twice but you can't deny it's some good stuff. I'll take this over the bullshit games to get buffalo trace products. Keep up the good work!
Don't hate the player, hate the game. haha! I understand where you're coming from, but good is good and that is all I care about in my book. I haven't tried the BK Straight Bourbon blends yet, but I love their ryes that I've tried. Such great stuff. If you've gotten your hands on some Barrel King from Missouri, have you tried out LionHeart? It's a brand new label from Hermann, MO. I went to their place this past weekend and tried their rye for the first time and kinda fell in love with it. Really tasty stuff. I was talking to the creator/owner (Clayton) while I was there, and specifically asked if he was just buying MGP juice. He said no, that he was contracting out the distillation to his exact specification and mash bill (which is a barely legal rye bill) and then aging it himself. Everything is very small, but the juice he's developed is really good and I imagine over time is going to get even better. Keep an eye out if you haven't tried it.
I won't say I am Without my brands that I enjoy but I have been sick of the MGP profile for such a long time once you're able to figure out the sort of velvety kind of plum note that it has it's really hard to ignore and it's very easy to figure out that it's from indiana. I won't turn it away if it's offered it to me but I am less than excited than I used to be
There is nothing annoying about MGP or anyone who sources it until they start claiming that they produce their own whiskey but really they are just tainting mgp barrels with their own new make. J. A. Magnus is MGPs own brand. So is Belle mead and remus. NDPs are supposed to be good at selecting barrels and blending them to taste. That's the reason why MGP offers so many of their barrels and they are also one of the best distilleries out there. 99% of all rye on the Markey comes from them but hardly any of them are as good as contradiction rye. Oh yeah! Smooth Ambler is another MGP house brand!
