Hahaha when I was in college me and my roommates were all normal pretty girls and 2/4 of us entered college virgins. For boys, I’d say the ratio was even higher. But yeah... it’s not weird at all. I mean, people definitely do that, “YOURE A VIRGIN?!” thing but then they’re usually just like, “Oh, ok.” Lol. Definitely more people ARENT virgins lol, but many are. And to anyone reading this who’s a virgin... have you ever once, ever in your life, even in a movie or a book, heard someone, male or female or etc, say the phrase, “I really wish I would’ve started having sex younger.” Unless if they did it so old that it became a complex for them like 40 YO Virgin, no... no one ever says that. Lol.... there’s a reason for that. Don’t put too much on it, but don’t rush it haha. Or whatever you want to do... just be safe & smart!
@@anelasveric607 Book is bad, but the movie is bad but also boring AF. Cause they cut most of the subplots and they left barely any drama and included way too many clips in silence of hardin and tessa just staring at each other.
the guy's british accent sounds like he's mimicking a non british person's british accent mimicking an actual british person's british accent but it's actually real
the only thing that would've made me find the movie acceptable is if the ending (after the apology) was a shot of him throwing her dead body into the pond, now that would've been realistic and the people watching would learn a lesson...
The thing is majority of the show YOU on Netflix is in the main characters head and it’s a voice over, but it works so well because he’s a literal psychopath. But I agree with you.
What am I doing tbh that's the only time I've seen internal monologue work well. Not only was it hilarious, but it also eased the audience into liking/agreeing with the main lead even though he's doing such fucked up things. It's like the Breaking Bad effect + a cautionary tale of how alluring/likable/ easy to trust psychopaths really are
The only okay adaptation is the show light as a feather.........like it has decent acting and a solid-ish plot 🤷♀️ otherwise I’ve never read any other Wattpad book cause uH- yeah I’m good lmaoo
I feel like the virgin issue is probably even less in in Ivy League schools. “YoU’re A VirGin?” “Yeah, dude, I was too busy in high school getting good grades and working to get into this school.”
@@henrynishimura4104, I honestly don't know because people judge you if you're a virgin but if you're not a virgin they call you easy or use harsher language.
Laerke MA i guess because her father also had her go through that it‘s just supposed to be something that they have in common. But youre right with that
Why do I feel those silent moments were actually moments in books when the main character has an internal monologue with herself and they wanted to put that in the movie but without the internal monologue? I feel like that's what they were going for but didn't know that makes sense only in books.
@@satarupagingerkolay imagine looking soulless into someones eyes for 10_20 seconds and have internal monologue, the guy would be creeped out! that's not how it works those monologues are 2 seconds maximum in they're heads, what were they thinking 😂
In the fanfiction, it's actually revealed that his mom was raped by a group of men who wanted to beat up his dad because he started a fight with them whilst drunk. Hardin witnessed it all and has PTSD from the whole incident, which (surprisingly) can only be numbed by Tessa. But also like, Christian was raped by his mother's friend for many years so there's that. We need to stop making fanfiction into actual books.
Fun fact: the author of the fanfic said that if she would have never read Fifty shades of gray she wouldn't have wrote this. Basically this story is a fanfic of the fanfic of twilight
Really? I never knew about it I didnt love this much as the real fanfic of twilight (aka FSOG)and twilight 😂 This felt short¿ should have had parts or something
Ashima Mathur Yeah, back in 2014 when she published this story she said that 50 shades inspired it lol they are both a little (lot) cringe so that have this in common as well
I feel sorry for the actors, I think they’re really trying. It’s just hard to pull off even a decent performance when the writing is so hopelessly bad. Give them something to work with.
Exactly. It’s like R-Pat and K-Stew with the Twilight movies. They’re not bad, they’re just being forced to work with unsalvageable material. The only two guys who were alright in that series were Billy Burke as Charlie Swan (the dad was actually a good character overall, despite his friends), and Michael Sheen as the big bad guy. He was clearly having the time of his life
Here’s the thing I’m British and his accent is still SO WEIRD. Like it’s a mix of his deep voice and he’s a roadman in real life so he tries to hide that in the movie... overall it’s just weird to hear him talk lol.
Marie P H idk how you can describe it but they have a distinct accent and they’re from London mostly, sometimes up north. Boys who participate in illegitimate activities and think they’re hard.
THANK YOU. I've been saying for the past three years how weird it is that he doesn't close his eyes when they kiss. It's like everyone else got the memo BUT Hardin.
He addressed something so true!! He said and I quote, "Every writer always has their characters interested in literature. In reality, like 15% of people are like really into books, but every main character of a book is so into books because the person writing it is so into books."
But I think it also has something to do with the audience a book tries to appeal to. Because obviously most people who would read the book are into reading in general. So it's not only because the author loves reading but also because it's an easy way for the audience to relate to the protagonist.
I'm a writer too and none of my characters are into books, but that's because I'm not into books either. The correlation appears to be there for a sample size of n = 2 at least xD
love, cleo yes would be hotter if she dressed like his crowd but they wanted to show his Love for her and their “bookish “ vibe connection 😂 as her roommate says about her to her. The whole film is kinda funny now you got me laughing🤣😂
One of the more toxic lines: “I don’t think we can ever be just friends.” That’s why I think it’s most important to have a foundation of friendship in a relationship, no matter how you meet. If someone doesn’t want anything to do with you unless they’re dating you, that’s not a very strong foundation to build on
I literally can NOT believe this movie was made, and now has sequels, PLURAL ahahhahaha. Not to mention, I read the original fanfic and it was based off Harry and Tessa, and the way he won the bet was by keeping the bloody sheets from when he broke her hymen taking her virginity :-) I can’t believe they somehow got the funding to shoot this 💀
@@callahensley7355 there is not much of actual bdsm in 50shades either, and christian doesn't want a sub, he wants a doormat with no personality and easy to psychologically manipulate. so really, it is quite similar
Tessa constantly looks like she's holding in a fart and everyone talks with such awkward long silences. I feel like these silences are supposed to be really deep and meaningful but it just comes out as cringey
The actress playing Tessa (Josephine Langford) is the sister of Kathrine Langford, who plays Hanna in 13 reasons why. And the actor who plays Hardin is young Voldemort in Harry Potter and the nephew of the actor who plays Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes).
The actor has a cockney accent (which is english but doesnt sound anything like the stereotypical ‘posh’ british accent) and so the writers forced him to speak more poshly by getting him to pronounce his t’s but it really messes the whole thing up like i was cringing so hard
Its even worse in the 'books', the bet is actually for Hardin to take Tessa's virginity, he does and then he brings the bloody bed sheets to show his friends - so yeah it's even more messed up, especially since she gets back with him after that
I was apart of the generation who grew up reading After as a fanfiction - when it was turned into books and changed into Hardin it was insane, then turning it into a movie was hilarious but I'm way too sentimental about this series 😅 Anna Todd had the audacity to invite Harry Styles to the movie premiere and afterwards he blocked her, honestly cracked us all up ahaha
I would not have the courage to invite a famous star to the watch a movie made up the weird story I made in my head about them.. I am not surprise he blocked her
@@corvus1374 the person whi wrote it must be a virgin too because actually, is not that normal or common to bleed on the first time. it's more of a myth ( in fact in medieval times women pretended to be virgins by staining the sheets with blood discretely , as in from a cut or carrying it in a phial).
In honor of Dylan finally uploading After 4 Reaction, I’m re-watching all his After videos. I miss the Sour Patches break 💕 but the “No spanking? No spanking?! NO SPANKING!?! 50 Shades of Grey might be a bad fan-fic but at least it knew what it’s audience wanted!” Has me dying!!! 😂😂😂
Okay but is no one gonna talk about how that professor broke ferpa laws? She can get fired for giving another student's work to a peer without written consent 🤦🏻♀️
Well, I think Hardin wanted to get it to Tessa, but didn’t have the courage to do so. I mean Hardin’s paper was literally about Tessa and meant for Tessa, so he most likely wanted her to read it.
Another reason it's hard to relate and sympathize with her, like how am I supposed to side with a character who's blatantly in the wrong? I don't care how much she and the creep are "meant for each other", between the sexism (albeit more in the book than movie) and the cheating, Tessa is just an awful person
That's what I thought the whole time. In the Movie and I think in the Books too, Tessa is always the one who is this poor little thing because Hardin did something stupid when Tessa actually deserved it. She cheated on her boyfriend. But the story made it look like it was Tessa who got betrayed
I didn't watch the whole video and i paused it. I was trying to watch it on Tv just now but i spoiled the whole movie for myself by reading these comments
some fangirls imagine ed sheeran with actual defined abs ( i saw post once from a fanfic writter complaining about that and i don't think i've ever laughed so much) so at this point nothing even surprises me.
Queen Valencia Somewhere in the world an AP English Language teacher is crying at their failed attempt to teach him basic MLA. Tsk tsk what an abomination
Keiairra G I was thinking about that too. I was about 14 when I read the original and I’m sure the majority of the other girls reading it were around that age or younger. And I’m sure she knew the demographics of her audience at that time, so the fact that this adult was writing Harry styles smut for kids doesn’t really sit right lmao
“Hardin Scott got his first rejection”. I refuse to believe that’s the guy’s first rejection in his life. Ain’t nobody in the real world who just straight-up doesn’t get rejected a lot. Everybody gets rejected a lot, and the ones who don’t are lying about it, even though it’s normal and not to be ashamed of
I like how he is a guy watching a movie mostly targeted towards females and yet despite his gender, his opinion about the movie is pretty much what most people were thinking when they first watched the movie. Also I like how they use the tension to pretty much say the entire movie story line
i hated this movie so much. She cheated on her boyfriend and then got mad when he left her. She picked up broken glass with her bare hands and then looked shocked as to why her hands were bleeding.
Ikr? Like, girl, you made this happen. I mean, sure, Hardin was already a piece of work (to put it mildly), but you put yourself in this situation. No one with a good conscience feels bad for you
the author is painting a sociopath as “sexy”? The man is abusive, treats her badly in front of ppl and I’m not even going to get into what happened with the real bet but the 1st thing you use to justify why its bad is the fact that she cheated feel like the toxic relationship is the first red flag maybe talk about the guy's problem too
Hate even the premise of this movie, but I confess I would’ve probably liked it as a teenager if it had been made back then. At that age, hormones are so strong that they can affect your judgment. It’s so bad, you can fall in love with a fire hydrant. It’s an insane time of life. I’m glad it’s over.
@@lilw5653 lots of girls bleed after their first time and apparently Tessa was one of those and because of the bet, Hardin showed them to their friends
15:12 Dylan: *sarcastically* "it makes sense to make out with another guy... as a morally astute person" that's one of the core things I hate about this movie. they completely disregard her whole character through out the whole movie. and she is literally the protagonist!! its like we were introduced to the main character and learned what she is like just to act like it didn't happen and never speak of it again cause now suddenly she is someone else entirely. and why? for sex scenes. that's why. clever story, really clever
I’ve always loved Dylan’s content and I’m not saying he’s terrible or should be cancelled, but the low key sexualizing of lesbians he does in his videos sometimes makes me a little uncomfortable as a lesbian
Agreed, which is why Dylan stopped years ago! Not sure if he spoke about it on this channel or Ooga Booga, but he explained that although it was meant as a joke, he read the comments on how it was making women feel and that's why he doesn't say it anymore. I'm bi and I really respect him for that, men with a big following like his rarely listen genuinely to their female audience and own up to a shitty joke. You can see in the After 5 commentary, there's a similar scene with two women kissing and he's just insulting Hardin instead lol
I was mqd at this line because before that they literally met 2 times, and they haven't talked, the chemistry wasn't there so I don't get why they can't be friends 😂
When you realize that she's been fooling with Hardin while dating someone else for most of the movie. And she's supposed to be the moral, decent, reserved person.
Aaliyah Hammed lmao it’s just a book that I’m writing, lots of thoughts and chapter ideas just not a lot written. Might not ever be published but we’ll see how it goes. I’m only 19 I got a lot of time to write.
i’m very surprised the toxicity of the book made its way to the movie, i thought it was going to be a bit more toned down in this area. it didn’t make sense that directors deemed it sensible to bring it to life, with wattpad i feel like its a zone where every toxic behavior is given a green card, but when i see it in action its just so odd to me
If some guy told me he wanted to show me a place and then he drives me out to the middle of the WOODS that's in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, I would've for sure thought I was dying that day.
My friends and I went on an all girl date and we were laughing our asses off, I felt bad for the people in the cinema with us but jesus...this movie was awful. And when one of my friends lended me the book, I actually wanted to vomit.
Me and my 3 friends watched this movie together and couldn't stop laughing and making fun of it and we were literally told to shut up. I'm curious to what kinda cinema y'all go to.
Omg when I went everyone was laughing and cringing and then there were these 14 year old girls complaining that they can’t even hear what the actors are saying
