Not all wattpad novels are stupid. The good ones just don't get noticed because Wattpad is filled with teenaged girls who are not interested in mature writing
It’s kinda wild that Lee drove her to and dropped her off and that date huh. I didn’t even think about how gross that is, he literally witnessed the assault
Laurie Amber can relate, we had three flights of stairs between every other class. On the other hand, I really can run a marathon like a boss tho so thanks, school, for the physical abuse on my muscles from age 12 on lol
@@_gblume hi! That's my university too :D I laughed so hard when he made that comment because walking up those stairs really is just as bad (if not worse) than you would think 😂
Kaylucky 77 it’s based on a Wattpad book that got professionally published so there was really nothing they could do other than not make the movie 🤷🏽♀️
I really don't understand what's the best friend's (Lee?) deal. He has a girlfriend, his own life, but he gets all pressy when his best friend likes his brother? Man, I'm calling THAT self-centered.
Nora Girl it's because supposedly his brother has always got everything in life and the one thing he has that his brother doesn't is Elle. So when she gets with him, he feels like his brother literally wins everything (bit stupid but if your best friend started dating your sibling wouldn't you find it weird. I would!)
Laura Spillane right! it also sort of implies that he treats the friend as an object to be ‘owned’ and ‘used’ for himself and no one else- which is highly frustrating
I agree that I think he’s jealous of his John Tucker brother, but that he also believes Elle deserves better than his bro because he thinks his brothers just some player who’s a douchebag with no heart.
Janaki Actually the first interaction with Lee , Elle , and Noah together was when they were all talking by the pool when Noah came home and that was fun banter . When Elle got hurt Lee still had no idea at first that Elle & Noah were a couple . As far as telling "us" something about Noah..... Noah mentioned to Elle about his temper a little bit after they started dating . It was only after Noah admitted to having a bad temper when Lee walked in and assumed Noah might have hurt Elle .
@@hippiechic6772 which is the right thing to worry about because temper problems do not justify abuse and Lee knew that and genuinely thought that he was abusive You completely missed the main point trying to justify the wrong things, that, by the way, weren’t even pointed out. No offence.
Exactly! If your boyfriend's (or girlfriend's) sibling automatically asks if they hurt you when they see you're injured that is a HUGE red flag. *insert red flag parade with marching band here*
It was actually written by a teenager when she was 15 years old at Wattpad in 2012. She wrote it, it became famous, it happened on paper and then they decided to make it a movie.
@Joel Katumba you sir...have obviously never saw the mind of a 12-16 year old girl on wattpad...there are millions of stories by little girls where you put yourself in the character's shoes and you get sold by your abusive mother for drugs to either a hot rich guy or the hottest boyband out at the moment(usually 5sos or 1D) and they use you as a literal sex slave until one or more members fall in love with you and starts treating you like a human....this is literally elementary.
Joel Katumba heh yeee. but the earlier generations were no better. i got an inside look of the teen fangirls life in korea in the 90s...they wrote a lot of gay stuff... women are weird...this is coming from one 😂
"Huge house, everyone's rich, everyone's attractive, and the biggest problem in your life is that you dont know which hot brother to choose." That's some foreshadowing to Episode right there
I think my favourite part is still how noah, who is skipping school, getting into trouble, beating up students, getting suspended etc got accepted to harvard😂😂😂
to be fair Elle is a dramatic brat. It's so cringe how she always accidentally falls down and Noah catches her and she always runs away when the situation is heated. A girl in shorts should run in LA at night so he was right to yell at her. And she slept with him an hour later so it wasn't like she didn't like it
That scene where that boy yelled "GET IN THE CAR" was really scary. Because think people he is a controller, abusive boy and I really thought something gonna happen to her in that car. Glad didn't happened something I thought and there is that scene when she got hurt in her face and Lee came and he thought Noah(?) did it. It shows even his brother thinks that he is dangerous. Like did he beat up one of her ex girlfriends? That's why Lee gave that questioning look? I don't understand how people can like this movie. This movie is the defination of trash, abusive relationship and a lot of assault. Another reason to stan Dylan.
RIGHT?? Like I don't understand how the writers or literally anyone thought that any of that was ok to be put in a movie, that just normalizes abuse...
it really feels like that's the main reason no one casts actual teenagers to play teenagers, cause then these creeps would get into more trouble for all the softcore underage porn they're making
And then the fact that he yelled at her to get in into the car just makes it even worse. This dude has all of the red flags in the world attached to him.
I like that when Elle was drunk and taking off all her clothes Lee sees and does nothing, but when she keeps talking compliments in the second film about Marco he runs like it's the end of the world, he seriously has to review his priorities.
“You’re cute when you’re bossy” is such a demeaning phrase. Elle was trying to set a boundary, and he instantly changed the subject. If I could read a text copy of the script of this movie, I think it would **only** be the word “YIKES”
This is kinda unrelated, but I really your profile picture. By the way I agree with what you are saying, it is really annoying when people say that, the best noice to describe it is really “YIKES”
That line where Noah says “I don’t start fights I finish them” reminded me of that little white kitten with a pink bow from the Aristocats who said “Ladies don’t start fights, but they can finish them”
Right as a best friend it makes me mad. Hell in a group of like 6 people i barely knew they didnt let me drunkenly strip. (I knew 2 of them fairly well)
Not enough Noah slander. There's so many red flags with him, starting with his anger issues and how Elle was so obviously scared when he yelled at her to get in the car. Like I actually believed he would've hurt her if she refused. And the fact that Lee saw Elle with a cut and his first instinct was that Noah hurt her shows a lot about Noah's character. Of course Noah just gets even worse in the second movie.
Fun Fact: They filmed the school scenes at the University of Cape Town .The stairs are called Jammie Stairs and trust me everyday is leg day on campus 😂
"I cannot feel sorry for any character who goes to a school with that many stairs. You are too rich for sympathy" I go to that school (university) and I think I deserve sympathy just for climbing up and down those stairs (and more) everyday 😭 I wish I was rich tho
"I know we don't really see eye to eye on things" sis.. the height difference. That's a long distance relationship 😂 (coming from a 4'10 girl dating a 6'6 guy 😂)
Holy shit dude, I just looked this up. Damn, apparently majority of the movie was filmed in South Africa, and so is the sequel. I've never felt more conflicted before.
I hate how wattpad markets itself with these stories and makes a brand and stereotypes with these, while there are some freaking masterpiece books which hv like 50 votes and 200 reads. like whyyyy
Dylan making fun of Byron's voice, like... 😂 He doesn't have anything stuck in his throat, he's just a South African trying to fake an American accent. Cut him a little slack, my man.
Honestly it's one of the reasons I didn't watch the film. Their height difference makes me uncomfortable and the kisses aren't even hot. No chemistry at all
Every Deserves rights people are rich because they worked for it. If you’re talking about the inheritors then they still have to work to keep money coming and if you’re talking about their kids then yeah they also deserve rights because it’s their parents money and they shouldn’t be stripped of rights just because the rest of us just think of them as lazy douches with golden goose that provides them wealth
Dylan: Don't yell at him! He didn't do anything wrong! Noah: *yells at her, threatens guys to not ask her out, controls her life, acts creepy, disrespects her continuously, doesn't listen to her...* Dylan: hE diDnT dO aNyThiNG wRoNg!
To all my lovely Troublemakers, please DO NOT feel the need to get into someone's car who has known anger issues and is pressuring you...no matter how well you know them. *Most known cases of assault happen to people that know their aggressor.* Trust your instinct. If you don't feel safe and you feel uncomfortable, get out of that situation ASAP. Do what you gotta do to leave and don't feel bad for leaving. I've had to do this before. I was uncomfortable with the driver so I found another ride. I called a friend. Glad I did. Please be safe everyone ❤
@@youngfunny1824 I mean, you're not wrong but I almost went into an spiral when I read class 2010 and "too old", pls, we are only 26, I am crying. But yeah no one my age should play a HS student.
Elle: I know we don’t always see eyes to eye Dylan: WHY IS HE BITING HIS LIP?! - What Dylan should have said: OF COURSE YOU DONT SEE EYE TO EYE, SHE’S LIKE HALF HIS HEIGHT!!
I know this is 2 years late, but I'm so glad someone felt the exact same way about that yearbook guy as I did. I hated that guy, he was a creep and a half
"This is like a 40 million dollar house" one minute later "You live in like a 30 million dollar house" Dylan decreased this houses value by 10 mil for rich boy tears
@@tintedcherry yeah there are so many better books on Wattpad but they are usually longer like characters have more time to develop through more scenes that can't be easily compressed and made into a movie.
Honestly so glad Jacob Elordi got redemption in Euphoria. Euphoria really shows a part of Jacob’s great acting abilities compared to The Kissing Booth.
OK.... I seriously have read quite a few references to a movie named "Euphoria" in here and will have to give Euphoria a try now. Although I do believe I have seen that awhile back I do not remember Jacob Elordi being in that movie ; I find it hard to believe I would have over looked him in Euphoria . Since people in here seemed really impressed by Jacob in that movie compared to The Kissing Booth . I am off to give Euphoria a watch now .
I was forced to watch it when it came out because it was my last day at school, my teacher was showing it, and I had nothing better to do, I still regret that hour and a half.
coming back to watch this after watching the kissing booth 2 commentary just to see how far dylan has come and i am so proud of him and this community. like honestly, these videos are a light in the darkness that is life and im greatful for this :)
@@chloewatson7847 A little late of a response, sorry! But he's constantly being violent throughout the movie (including towards her - he slams his hand on his car to try and convince her to go with him which is a threatening act), controlling who she spends time with (he's been 'keeping guys away from her' for years), and basically says all the lines he knows a girl would love to hear (and being a known player) to win her over after years of not being interested in her while also encouraging her to hide their relationship. While not ALL of that is immediately signs of abuse, it is all red flags of a situation that could easily and quickly turn abusive.
@@sophiags4240 Honestly I was so startled when he hit the hood of that car and I was like "yeah the last thing I would do in her place now is get in the car, drive out somewhere into the wilderness and then have sex with him" :D I would have RUN
Dylan: Never date a guy who- Me: sexually assaults you? Dylan: -after he gets your number does this **proceeds to do that** Me: Yeah no okay he's got a valid point
not only is this a wattpad story but it's 100% *every* story on that app 'episode', packed full to the brim of teen movie cliches and the only thing that makes me happy about this film is that jacob elordi and joey king are happy together ... i hope the god awful movie was worth it for them.
