I have a 2018 ecoboost, man I love that car. Insurance for the GT was way more and the price for a base model was more than a premium. The ecoboost is a fun car to drive. 310 hp, good gas mileage, and it’s a mustang! You’re not always racing so why would you hurt your pockets constantly for gas and the extra insurance. Not to mention I’m only 18.

I bought a 2108 base model Ecoboost Mustang with a 6 speed manual in black back in August, 4 months ago. List was 24.8 and I got mine for $21,500. And I have seen ads on TV here for $20,000 for them since.... I didn't want any extras, it comes with so many nice goodies already any ways. And I didn't see any sense in spending 40-50K for a V-8 with 400-500 hp for driving around town. I've got a little over 5,000 miles on it now. I love it, the car totally rocks and it's pretty hard to find any faults in it. Get the six speed manual, it's just fun to play with. It cruises on the highway at 90-100 mph and it's just loafing. I just took it up to the top of the Sandia Mountains (10,500 feet) Albuquerque, NM a couple of days ago to push it hard. Happened to go up behind two 2004 Mustang 5.0's, and I was able to reel them in. And yes the 4 banger Mustang has higher hp and torque numbers than the '04's V-8's. It's a very tight road, lots of switchbacks and I have to say the '18 Mustang was a complete ball to hammer up the road. Totally planted and corners great. I talked to a guy who had a new '19 in black with a manual and I asked him what he paid for his....he went a little green when I told him I paid $21,500 for mine, he paid like $6,000 more for the exact same model. Oh, OK he got Sirius radio (which you have to pay a monthly subscription for) that I don't have. So if you are really serious about getting a new Mustang I'd suggest looking for a new 2018 at a dealers with a manual six speed transmission. And a base model is just fine, there would not be much difference in performance in an option laden one that costs $10,000 more. I can do a lot with 10K. For $21,500 I think it's pretty darn hard to find more bang for the buck than you get with a base model 2018 Ecoboost Ford Mustang. OK, the leg room for the rear seats suck, but then I am not riding in the back so I just don't care:):) Tom Rolland

@@andyrt69 I'm in this hood and at a mile high coyotes lose alot of power and ecoboost don't. Here at abq dragway a 18 pp2 10 speed gt only runs 13.7s, while my boost with a ford performance tune runs 13.50s on street tires.

The best Mustang EB review I have seen. I have my EB and sure I like the 5.0 but I'm 65 yrs old and I truly look at the EB Mustang as a Gentleman's Mustang to enjoy the handling the ride the rich heritage of the Mustang. Plus there are so many simple mods to make this car your own. Go out and Enjoy your Mustang.

Just about every car or truck that you review makes me wish I owned it! I have always liked Mustangs and until now I wouldn't have given the EcoBoost Mustang a second thought and would instead opt for the 8 cylinder but after watching this video I would definitely consider the EcoBoost. I still have my 2002 3.8l V6 Pony and just bought a brand new 2020 Bullitt. My first brand new Mustang I bought was the '02 Pony. Still runs good and has great compression after 18 years. I'm keeping it for my daily driver/commuter car. Don't worry guys, you'll get to the GT level or higher eventually. To be honest, if I had this 2020 Bullitt back in 2002 I probably would have killed myself the way I drove when I was young... LOL
Looked seriously at the Ecoboost Mustang last year. For someone like me who prefers the driving experience of a European sports car or sedan to an American muscle car, it's an excellent choice, especially with the performance package and enhanced suspension. I ended up purchasing another vehicle for a variety of reasons but the Mustang was a strong contender. The GT appeals to many but a Viagra prescription would be a better (and less expensive) solution aimed at the same objective.
I just bought the base 2019 3 days ago, I'm in love with the car. Plenty of room for different mods. I just wish I could hear the woosh from the boost like I did on my Subaru. Might switch out the valve.
Hey Joe, thanks again for another great car review. As a huge mustang fan, I’m not doubting that the new EcoBoost isn’t a good car, but I really wish Ford wouldn’t have killed the V6. The 2018-2019 refresh looks amazing and I would opt for the GT in a heartbeat but I just can’t afford it. At the same time, I can’t justify buying a 4-cylinder Mustang and living with the awful sound, even with an exhaust mod. So people like me are basically SOL and I’m betting there’s many others who feel the same way.

could not afford the V8 at this time but got the 2020 2.3L ecoboost for just over 23000.00, that I could afford and it looks and drives great. Love it.

Two things about the glovebox: -Click the yellow tab to release the drop down compartment for the owners manual. -The passenger airbag is actually IN the glovebox door which allowed the designers to increase legroom

I HAD BOTH THE VERY FIRST GEN. TURBO AS WELL AS THE 2ND GEN. SVO TYPE MUSTANGS , THEY WERE A HELL OF A LOT OF FUN .NOT AS MUCH HP/TORQUE , BUT IT WAS ONLY 2700 LBS , BESIDES WE TWEAKED OUR BOOST CONTROLS AND RAN ALMOST OPEN EXHAUST SYSTEMS--THE TURBO ATE MOST OF EXHAUST SOUND . THEY WERE QUICK , LIGHT , AND COULD KILL ANY PRODUCTION CAR AROUND . BUNCH OF MY BUDDIES HAD V8 CAMAROS AND ALWAYS TALKED SMACK --AT LEAST UNTIL ME AND MY BUDDY WITH ANOTHER TURBO RAN CIRCLES AROUND THEM , STRAIGHT LINE AND ESPECIALLY CORNERING . DAMN I MISS THE 80'S AND ESPECIALLY MY TURBO 4'S .
I am not scared at all. I am enjoying these different Mustangs and feel the EcoBoost is a viable option for people not wanting a V8. Thank you for your input and for watching1

He even tells you right in this video what he likes and doesn’t like about this ecoboost Mustang. IMO Joe is one of the most honest and entertaining car reviewers on RU-vid.

You don't have to agree with him on what he thinks, he's just giving his opinion and showing the car off so if your in the market than I tead of you driving to the dealership he already has a video so you dont have to go anywhere
I agree with Joe that the variety of engines and equipment is what makes the Mustang so great. While I love a V8 as much as the next guy, I think there is a lot to be said for powerful yet efficient cars like the ecoboost Mustang! I don’t like the exhaust note though, Ford should work on that. Acura, Honda, and Fiat know how to make a 4 cylinder that makes you want to put the windows down. Fiat 500 Abarth sounds wonderful!
EcoBoost is a great little engine its just the Coyote has so much more potential for us guys who can't leave anything alone. If you just want a Mustang driver to occasionally play with I can see the Eco being a great choice. But if you want a traditional pony/muscle car that can be ramped up to crazy power get the 5.0.
I own one, it's a blast to drive, not under powered at all...I only upgraded to the GT350R brembo brakes & Staggered 19 inch wheel & tire package to stop this bad boy once I upgrade the tune
I owned a 2016 eco boost mustang. I replaced the Down pipe with a mishimoto catted downpipe, put in a JLT cold air intake, turbosmart wastegate actuator, Wagner intercooler, then got a dyno tune. It ended up with over 325 hp. To the wheels and 400 foot pounds of torque. It was almost as fast as my old 2013 5.0 gt mustang with 373 rear end and easier to drive around corners because the front was lighter. I could really feel the torque. Launching it was easy, no wheel hop like the 6 speed manual gt mustang. Loved it but traded it in for the 2018 mustang gt.
Hey great review the features you are pointing out are part of the Pony Package. New for 2019 you can get the Active Valve performance with dual quad exaust on an Ecoboost and the car sounds awesome with it.
I don't understand haters and never will. I don't look down on someone bc of the trim level of their vehicle that they paid for! I think it's cool that this car can keep up with my 5.7 hemi and in reality destroy it on a long trip due to the mpg.

I just bought my 2018 gt. Ironically my insurance went down by $20 bucks per month lol. I had the ecoboost. Was an enjoyable car for a year but I couldn’t help but to always feel guilty when i see a mustang with the gt badge. But it’s all up to you. Get a gt if you can. Or a ecoboost if you really don’t care about speed

Nice Review! I rented an EcoBoost Premium recently & was totally surprised by how fun it was to drive! Just curious.... which package adds the chrome window trim... I actually like the way it looks
I totally get why ford and gm are putting 4-cylinder turbo's in the mustang and Camaro. for someone like me who is in the market for a daily driver car that's fun to drive there isn't a lot of options. civic coupe has front wheel drive, piano black interior pieces everywhere, and just doesn't appeal to me at all. the mustang and Camaro has rear wheel drive, nice interior and exterior styling, horsepower for pleasure drives on weekends, and good gas milage while driving to and from work. its 2019, things have changed if you want your v8 manual its there, if your like me who doesn't like any modern car but these mustang and Camaro types like I explained earlier its available too. so good on ford and gm for making a car that isn't boring but can still be a daily driver.

This reminds me of the 1984 4 banger mustangs. My dad bought 1 for himself and 1 for my mother. Coming from a family with v8 Nova’s, Mustangs, Camaro’s and Challengers...I literally secretly wished for those two 80 stangs to disappear! Unless it’s a GT ecoboost or Raptor’s I wouldn’t look twice at this thing. Nice review once again sir!

Thanks for another Mustang video. I also like the option of dual controls. I use Android Auto with the touch screen and like the option of using the buttons to change climate contol settings without using the touch screen.
This is going to make a lot more sense than a gas-hog V8 as fuel prices head toward $4 @ gal and beyond. The only issue with the Ecoboost is its resale value, especially within a year or two of buying new. The last I checked you could purchase a low mileage 2017 for approximately 25% less than the original purchase price. GT's on the other hand don't depreciate as quickly--about half that. Still, if you like this styling, handling ability and a vehicle that can get 30mpg on the highway--that goes from Zero-to-most-speed-limits you'll be driving most of the time at around 1 sec slower than the V8, it's a smart choice.

I can't say for sure about the 2019 EcoBoost Mustang, but one of my biggest problems with previous years of the Mustang EcoBoost was the exhaust note. I realize it is hard to make a 4 cylinder engine sound like a V8 but the Mustang 4 cylinder sounds like a Japanese 4 cylinder powered sedan that has been tuned to within an inch of it's life....not very Mustang-like.

I think you are confusing wheel horsepower with crank horsepower. All of the vehicles in the 60’s measured horsepower at the crankshaft. That’s why it seemed like “wow, those cars were so powerful!” In the 70’s the government mandated that vehicle horsepower be measured at the wheel of the vehicle, because the crankshaft measurement was misleading. That’s why it looked like so much less, not because it actually was
I bought an EB performance pack in 2015. Loved it, sold to one of my kids. Car has been flawless, 24 mpg and fun to drive. I now have a GT350, but it does not steer as well as the EB with100+ lbs less on the nose.
Mustang ecoboost achieved 22 gas mileage in city better than many suv V6 in the market and better than my Hyundai Santa fe 2014 V6 3.3L 260 hp. It will be nice to have Mustang ecoboost for daily driving 🚘 but I have heard there's an issues with 10 speed transmission
The ONLY problem with the Ecoboost Mustang is that we've become spoiled by massive horsepower and torque numbers. It's a stigma in the mind of every pony car buyer that they HAVE to have the V8. Honestly, there was a time between 1972 and the late 90s that Mustang GT drivers would have killed to have the power numbers that this Ecoboost has. That said, if you want to save money on gas and insurance, go for the Ecoboost. Price wise, as I type this out (December 2018) I can find dealer closeouts and get a new 2018 GT for $30k.
310 HP in a car this light is high-end sports car by the standards of my youth. If you're driving around town and the suburbs I don't see that you'll ever be able to use the V8 power but I suppose it's nice to sense it and hear the growl.
At this point, the GT is out of the question since the insurance would be so high for me. The ecoboost may get joked on, but you gotta weigh the differences between the two.
The one thing that has steered me away from the Ecoboost mustang is the curb weight. 3500 pounds on a 2.3L Turbo??? Ford did a good job, but they have a long way to go with the ecoboost mustang. Most turbo 4's are coming with low 3000 curb weights, GTI is 3000 flat, focus 3200~. Mind you they are hatchbacks and can afford to lose the weight. At the end of the day, unless ford shed's some serious weight off the Ecoboost it's going to end up like the 2.0t genesis.
it nice to see we get different flavors of Mustang like Baskin Robbins XD here in Singapore we have Swensen's as the more popular brand to go for ice cream Jokes aside How was the shifting behavior of the 10 speed? Other RU-vid car reviewers and review sites complained that the 10 speed and Ecoboost combo is bad idea They mostly complained that the 10 speed is confused and is searching for gears in Normal mode, Sports mode still does the same but tends to hold the gears more. They suggested going for the 6 speed manual, but heard many horror stories of the MT-82 6 speed shift fork breaking or ticking Seen some suggestions of swapping the gearbox for the GT350 Tremec TR-3160 for a peace of mind but will be a costly time consuming swap. The Ecoboost Mustang is actually wearing the Pony Package option because of that front grill and wheel package, with a wing delete and that side Mustang Pinstripe. It does look nice on camera. The fully kitted out Ecoboost would be the Performance Pack which has the 3.55 rear diff, Strut-tower Brace, Upsized Rear Sway Bar, Larger Radiator, Performance springs etc. if i remember correctly, while the brake calipers on the Ecoboost Performance pack are smaller than the GT, 4 pot vs the 6 pot Brembos on the GT I believed they are OEM unpainted Brembo 4 pots calipers, the base Ecoboost uses a 2 large pot units. In the interior side, the center air vent is omitted and in place will be the Performance gauge pack which shows oil pressure and boost gauge Fully kitted out with the 10 speed and Performance Pack, the sticker price is almost 41 grand which is pretty steep when the GT Premium starting price is 39 grand minus the options. The main issue with the Ecoboost is the price tag, you kinda pay a steep price for it. Even in Singapore which has the Ecoboost Mustang from the authorized agent costs around 230 grand for me. Yikes Also as mentioned in the previous video. The word Ecoboost is an oxymoron because of the real world MPG is pretty bad esp in city/highway driving. Anything turbocharged be it an old school turbo system and the newer turbo system will drink more petrol than a NA car In my previous Subaru Forester 2.0L turbo requires me to head to the gas pump every 2 weeks, now with the Subaru Crosstrek 1.6L I could stretch at least 3 weeks and almost 4 weeks before i need to refill if i am light on the foot. Also the manual for the Ford Ecoboost states it can run on 87 fine, that blew my mind because my turbocharged Forester states only to use Pump gas 93 in the US or RON 98 in my country strictly. There is even a label on the fuel door cover itself saying only 93 or RON 98. That is really low octane rating for a turbocharged car IMO, the modern car with an advance ECU and sensors can prevent knocking by lowering turbo boost levels and retarding ignition timings, etc. But I am pretty sure you won't be getting all 310bhp from the engine and fuel economy will suffer as well. Also there is an infomative video on why the Ecoboost 2.3L block is bad for high power and high boost applications. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CuGodKdRLpE.html It seems that Ford overlooked bracing on one side of the block hence under high power loads it cracking the block on cylinder 2 The only major advantage going for the Ecoboost is with the lighter nose, the turning response of the car is better. Which is great for autocross and track uses Or someone who wants only a Mustang but could only afford the Ecoboost route But I would still suggest going for better cars for around the same price tag. Yeah EcoBoost is a total marketing gimmick! There are tons of other cars that don't have a turbo that get better gas mileage than this Mustang. I personally would be all about the Performance Pack on it. I think that may be coming down the pipeline! Thank you so much for being so great!
I bought a new 83 Mustang GT 5.0 and it was advertised with a whopping 175 HP - it was fun, peppy but really nothing compared to today's power levels and refinements. Even still, given the choice a V8 Power pony car would be my only choice.

I own a 18 Mustang 5.0 and if my Bravado didn't get the best of me I should've test drove this bad boy. My 5.0 is getting some warranty work done but they put me up with a Ecoboost Mustang with the 10 speed and it feels lighter handles better and is just really fun to drive. Not to say the 5.0 isn't fun but it can be a handful with the 6 speed. I feel as a everyday driver this is a legit ride.
My 1st V8 and I was a 17yo. It was Zircon Green. It started off stock and the first mod was a 500 2 barrel holley, a mild improvement. I acquired a 4 barrel windsor manifold and a couple of 600 vacuum secondary holleys, which made 1 good carby, and a dual exhaust system from FORDHAM spares. Happy with this because I could now "Lay Rubber". Joe I miss all my old cars.
