Thanks for speaking on this. IVF has always felt wrong. It’s humans deciding we create and get what we want or think we deserve.

What they fail to mention is the risk to the child. I know a couple who had great difficulty conceiving a child so decided on IVF. Due to her age the eggs could not be used. The husband insisted the child had to be biologically his so his sperm was used to fertilize a doners eggs. Still her body rejected these eggs. Finally, they had one more chance with the eggs that were left. The couple told the doctor to implant the "male" embryos (I did not know technology had become this far advanced and I was just listening to this account of what later became a more serious tragedy). There were no more males so the female embryos were used. All four of the eggs implanted. The pregnancy lasted until 20 weeks and two babies died and were expelled. The other two girls stayed another two weeks. They were delivered extremely small and were hospitalized for over 6 months. They survived and are physically and mentally disabled. I realize this is an extreme case and a very sad outcome. What I find personally very disturbing is that the mother wanted children so badly that she was willing to have children created in a laboratory using her husband sperm and someone else's eggs. Dreams don't always come true no matter how much manipulation is used.

No. Vitro means "in glass" it refers to conception occurring outside of the womb. It also requires the creation and wastage of multiple human lives. So, the IVF/Virgin Birth analogy is a poor argument.

I am an IVF-born person and I've always struggled with this. Do I have a soul? Was my existence unplanned and forced upon the world? I've always felt inferior or different to others, like a weak pathetic failure, and I've wondered if it's maybe that I lack a soul and therefore the drive to live a meaningful life. Maybe God has indeed forsaken me my entire life, it sure feels that way sometimes. What I do know is that I will not forsake him. I will live honoring God even if there is a 50-50 chance that I am an empty vessel, that I will shut off like a computer when I pass away.

The Holy Spirit is the Lord and Giver of Life, and HE has given you life. Not only do you have a soul, God REJOICES in your existence, and will for all eternity. You are loved, you are good, and you are HIS. Just think of all of the ways that a human person can come into existence (spouses on their wedding night, rape, incest, premarital sex, IFV, Artificial Insemination, and so on). Is the goodness of a child determined by how they were created? Never. Nor are the acts of conception necessarily good because the children are good that come from them. So, be at peace that you are not defined by something that happened in the past. God willed you into being, and holds you in existence.

God created the universe knowing every detail from its beginning to its end. He decided to create it with YOU in it. He incarnated and was crucified to save you, because he loves you. You are part of creation. You are indeed a child of God with an eternal soul, and He is truly your Father.

What does the bible say about a soul? What is a soul? Genesis 1 says that after God made a person, he breathed in them and they became a living soul, the flesh + life giving power(breath of God)= a soul, So my question is do you have a soul, hell yes you are a living soul!

I went through 8 rounds of IVF. I'm Roman Catholic. What l believe from my experience is that God must give spirit/soul to the fertilisation. Thirteen blastocysts did not take in my uterus. I have given birth to 2 children. My children are gifts from God. Where is the morality of conception from a crime? In truth, how many children are truly conceived in love within a marriage? Are arranged forced marriages forgotten from the past? Christian marriages where there is domestic violence and abuse usually against the wife and children, who is terrified to leave her husband? Roman Catholic priests who have fathered children into the world and do not acknowledge their existence?

As a Christian, i believe god gave us the means to create IVF so we can more Christian babies. So that someone incapable of having a baby can be fruitful and multiply and spread the word of god. IVF is gods hand stretching out, saying, "You can have a child, i have not forsaken you, I'm giving you life where there was no chance of one" I thank god for giving us life and reject the devils attempt to stop it.
@Chastityproject
@Chastityproject 6 месяцев назад
God gave us the means to give life and to take it, but this does not mean that it is morally licit or glorifying to God for us to create a dozen human lives and destroy or freeze them for the sake of creating one that is born. This is how IVF works, and the good child that results from it does not justify the action of destroying multiple human lives. See ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uPM2ebK8V8s.html

“Thank you god for giving us the tools to create life and then kill it in your name” can I get an amen? So it’s ok to kill ten babies to make one baby because God wants you to be fruitful… Never mind thou shall not kill. If you think the ends justify the means at least steal someone else’s baby if you want one that bad and can’t.. stealing would be better than killing

Hi Brittany. Thank you for the comment. All of heaven rejoices with you in the existence of your baby. After all, the Holy Spirit is the Lord and giver of life. With that in mind, we need to remember that the absolute goodness of a child tells us nothing about the morality of the act through which the child was created. Nor does the immorality of certain ways of conceiving mean that those children are any less of a gift. The Church is against IVF for several reasons, but one is that it is a violation of God's commandment not to kill because it involves the deliberate creation and wastage of multiple human lives in order to create one. This is simply how the process works. Also, experiencing same-sex attractions is not a sin. What kind of God would condemn a person for his or her attractions. So, while attractions are not sins, actions can be. However, I encourage you to reconsider the idea of "gay" being a person's identity. Please see: chastity.com/2015/02/please-dont-call-gay/

Thanks for the video. I have a person I know that recently converted to Catholicism. She understands the immorality and issues around IVF, but she is struggling with the idea that artificial insemination is also always wrong. She and her husband struggled with infertility for a long time and resorted to using artificial insemination with her husband's sperm. Ultimately it didn't work for them either, but she struggles to believe it was wrong. Any advice on how I can help her to understand why this is also morally wrong? I know why sperm donation is problematic (separates fathers from the families they create), but this would be slightly different. And if there are only illicit means for collecting the husband's sperm (porn, masterbation, etc), I also understand the problem there. But is there a licit way of collecting the sperm (such as collecting only part of it during intercourse?) that could be deemed acceptable? And, if so, does that mean the only remaining issue in artificial insemination is that the unitive aspect of the act is missing? I want to help her understand and to make sure I understand all the issues in case it comes up again in the future. Thanks!

It would be much better for You to addrsss Etebak Salvation, being Saved by Grace, alone through Faith (the Free Gift of GOD in The FINISHED Work of CHRIST) alone. Roman catholics deny this and twiat the Holy Scriptures adding works. Faith without works is dead. Dead 'faith', belief with works is Damnable. Trust CHRIST, Alone.
@JenniNJeff
@JenniNJeff Год назад
@@Chirhopher the only place in the bible where it says "faith alone" is in James 2:14-24 where James tells us we are NOT justified by faith alone. Paul, when he talks about being justified by faith apart from works is speaking of "works of the law" , meaning the 600+ Jewish laws that had been added over the centuries. Paul says himself that what we do (our works) matters. Look at Rom 6:1-2, where he says "Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? " Or Phil 2:12-13 where Paul tells us to "work out salvation with fear and trembling" or Eph 2:8-10 that says "we are created in Christ Jesus for good works" or Gal 5:4-6 nothing counts but faith *working* through love" or again in Rom 2:2-8 where he talks about "eternal life by perseverance in good works". Or let's go to the words of Jesus himself. In Mt 7:21 he says, "Not every one who says to me, 'Lord, Lord' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who DOES the will of my Father in heaven". Or again Mt 19:17 where he says "if you would enter life, keep the commandments " and similarly in Jn 14:21 "He who has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me ... and we will come to him and make our home with him." The Bible is clear and consistent, we must have faith in Jesus who alone gives salvation as a free gift that we cannot earn, but with that free gift, God expects us to live that faith in our lives through or thoughts, words and actions (aka our works). If we do not then our faith was never real. James 2:18

I am a single charge devout Catholic women about to undertake the iui/ivf and U couldn’t be more happier. Truth is Caucasian Christian men do not want to have children and are forgoing marriage. I am turning 39 this year and taking matters into my own hands. God gave us free will and children are a gift from God- whether created in ivf or through sex. The Church judges so much yet knows so little what goes on in the lives of everyday Catholics like myself. The Church does not treat infertility like a disease because infertility does not impact the Catholic hierarchy, but things like cancer, chronic health issues do. So henceforth ivf is a sin, but a hear transplant isn’t evethough a person must die so someone can get a new heart because the priest is saved but the priest doesn’t need ivf to save his life so renders it evil. Very few Catholics are willingly to confront the Hierarchy on this issue.
@Chastityproject

I understand your very good desire to have a child, and your understandable frustrations with the lack of men who want to begin their vocation to marriage. This is a VERY painful cross when you have a very GOOG desire: for marriage and family. Children are indeed a gift of God, but this is precisely one of the reasons IVF is immoral. It requires the creation and wastage of multiple human lives. IVF does not save a life, but does the opposite. Heart transplants would be immoral as well if they required a person to be killed in order for the transplant to happen.

The issue is whether the baby is created in God's image, given that genes are able to be spliced and altered. Parents can specify desired features. Since splicing is made possible via CRISPR, what makes you so sure there aren't foreign substances introduced? Anything can be added. Do these creations even have souls? Who knows?

This is why so many people are leaving the Catholic Church. All those very judgmental rules. You can’t go to your own gay child’s wedding. You can’t go to parties for IVF babies. Bishops are coming out with videos saying the Pope should be removed from his position because he allowed priests to bless people in “irregular relationships .” The critics, of course, have Bible verses on hand to spout in your face if you dare question these rules. But my belief is that Jesus would be front row center at all these events because His life was dedicated to reaching out to all kinds of people and showing love not making them feel beneath anyone else.

Becasue Life begins at conception. If you make life and then discard the Precious Souls that You considered 'extra' and decided not to nurture, as Commanded, that is murder. Life for life, Says The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. And Yes, GOD even Gives the Example of killing a Child in the womb, and then Says, "they shall pay with their life; life for life". Besides, when Ya get to this point You really are Blasphemously trying to play GOD and puts the tower of Babel to shame. GOD Opens and GOD Closes the Womb! Kiss The SON or Perish. @Chirhopher I have had 8 rounds of IVF and given birth to 2 children. God gives spirit / soul at fertilisation. Children conceived through IVF are no less human than children conceived through sex. Indeed, God is the ultimate IVF creator. Mother Mary was a Virgin when she conceived Jesus through God's spirit. No sexual intercourse.
