The moral conundrum comes when the IVF facility offers the fertilization of multiple eggs and then the couple will choose which embryo is the "Highest Grade" with the least likelihood of genetic malformity. The IVF facilities rate the embryos on a numeric scale. The excess embryo's are not stored indefinitely and if unused are obviously terminated.

@hebrews11vs5 2 года назад
For some reason people are unable or unwilling to realize the logic of: if an embryo is a human, then discarding a less desirable embryo is discarding a less desirable human. And thus, IVF is passed off as being some harmless exercise to help people get pregnant.

@@KristenOckertFineArt question for you, well I pray you can ease our minds. So we are older, but in the final stages of IVF. They fertilized 6 eggs as was their policy so I told them from the beginning a year ago, if we fertilized 6 and got 6 that made it to the blast stage which is making it to be able to transfer, then if all 6 made it this far, then we would have 6 children to raise PERIOD. so we found ourselves in the strange position of in some way not wanting to have that many if possible but still prayed that each one would make it if that was God's will. Now we just got the news that of those 6, there is 1 that is ok. So we get 1 chance. This is the outcome we kinda hoped would be the result but would leave it in God's hands. So now, the scenario worked out to only one and that is a blessing but my question is what about the 2 that didn't quite make it to day 5, or the other 2 that didn't make it past day 2, or the one that didn't ever fertilize. Are those lives that we created and are now gone
@donstevensii7293
@donstevensii7293 Год назад
Oh and we also made it clear we were NEVER going to do the genetic screen on ANY viable. This is because it would not impact our decision in any way so why do it? I feel anything we create whether started in the lab then transferred on Day 6 to Mommy, any life was indeed alive and our child. I just don't know if I should be relieved that we have only 1 of the 6 we tried to fertilize that made it to Day 5. Should I have a feeling either way, I mean if all 6 made it we would no doubt have 6. That would have been a strain but qe are the ones that chose to play the numbers game to get at least one .

I'm not a doctor, so take this for what it's worth, but I can't help but think there may be very good reason that a woman's body is not able to get pregnant. If we are bypassing our own body in this way, it makes me wonder if that alone is a reason that would make it unethical and/or sinful. For me personally, it would be a violation of my own conscience to do IVF for this reason, but also because having embryos in a lab somewhere seems wrong. Having a bunch of your own children most of whom would never be birthed stored away in a freezer somewhere...no, I just can't agree with this. Instead, adopt the children who are here and need our help.

The IVF argument is incomprehensible to me. Here, two people who are unable to have a child without it, are able to bring children INTO the world because of it, but that isn’t good enough. This argument has no standing because if we wanted to truly see every woman’s egg as precious and life giving then women should not even have periods, because we lose that unfertilized egg every month for at least 35 years. That is 12x35 = 420 eggs in a woman’s lifetime that get ejected from her body and are never used except for those 2-3 times she *might* get pregnant. I had IVF, I only got about 20 eggs out of it. 10 that were viable, 5 that ended up being fertilized and 2 embryos in the end. One has been born and baby #2 is patiently waiting to be awaken soon. IVF has been a miracle for those unable to produce naturally. My baby truly is a miracle because my husband was going to lose his fertility after chemo treatments for a very rare and quick spreading cancer he had. I will stand by IVF all the way!

Can women be pastors, elders, bishops...according to Scripture? Why or why not?
@eMtotheeF
@eMtotheeF 6 лет назад
Michael McDaniel Actor, Voice Actor, & Clean Comedian Many today are thinking through and discussing the issue of women in leadership in the church; and many churches are even ordaining women for pastoral ministry. Some of the largest Christian denominations believe Scripture permits church leaders to be either male or female. Perhaps you attend or have visited one of those churches and are wondering what the Word of God teaches on this topic. Knowing specifically what ministries God intends women to perform in the church can be a challenge. For instance, can a woman teach the Bible in a high school or college Bible club meeting? Should men read Bible-study books, commentaries, or theology books written by women? Is a woman permitted to lead and teach in the church youth group or lead the singing in the main service? Many people also wonder why women who are just as gifted and productive as men shouldn’t be allowed to use their abilities in the church. Some women are able to teach, preach, and lead better than many men. Why should we not let them bless the church in those ways? These are important and challenging questions, and Scripture gives us clear principles to follow as we answer them. While the ministry of women is essential to the church’s proper working and health, only men are given the responsibility to serve as pastors and elders. Although Scripture is quite clear on this point, there are many individuals, churches, and denominations that choose to disobey the Lord’s will in this regard and allow women to function in pastoral and teaching roles. But God’s church will be blessed and will honor Him only as it follows the plan He has revealed in the Bible. The clearest biblical teaching on this issue is found in 1 Timothy 2:12: “But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.” This command comes in a section of 1 Timothy which teaches about the functioning of a local church. Some people believe when the apostle Paul wrote that a woman should not “teach or exercise authority over a man,” he was conforming to a unique situation in the city of Ephesus or to the cultural value system of the time, but that is not the case. Notice in the next verse Paul refers back to God’s original design for man and woman: “For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve” (1 Timothy 2:13). This proves God wants His created design of male leadership and female submission in the family to extend into the functioning of the church. On certain issues, the concerns and goals of the modern feminist agenda are in agreement with God’s standards. For instance, they agree women should not be discriminated against in the workplace but should be afforded equal opportunities with men. They also rightfully condemn violence against women. At the same time, however, the modern feminist movement frequently contradicts Scripture regarding the roles of women. For instance, some of the key goals of feminism are to protect a woman’s right to abort her baby, to affirm lesbianism, and to promote the idea that there is no distinction between men and women’s leadership roles in the family and the church. These contradictions with God’s Word are not incidental but evidence a fundamental error in feminist philosophy which can be traced back to the original fall of mankind into sin. The events recorded in Genesis 3 explain how the feminists’ opposition to God’s plan began. When God created Adam and Eve, He designed a productive and perfect balance between the nurturing leadership of a man and the supportive following of a woman in marriage. After God created Adam, He said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him” (Genesis 2:18). A few verses later we read how God created Eve: “So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’ For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:21-24). When Adam and Eve sinned, God’s perfect plan was perverted by the depravity in the hearts of men and women. Adam sinned by stepping out from under God’s authority when he ate the divinely forbidden fruit, and Eve chose to reject the authority of both Adam and the Lord. One of the consequences of their sin was the corruption of the complementary relationship between man and woman. Genesis 3:16 records what the Lord told Eve: “Yet your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” The desire Eve would have toward Adam is not a good kind of desire but a desire to conquer or overcome. You can see this in Genesis 4:7 where the same word describes what sin would do to Cain: “Sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it” [emphasis added]. From that time on, one of the expressions of sin in women would be the tendency to break out of God’s intended supporting and following role. At the same time, men’s sinful tendency would be to neglect their responsibility to love and lead their wives, dominating them instead. God’s perfect plan can be implemented and enjoyed in marriages and churches only when sinners receive new hearts of humility and obedience. It is only when men and women submit to God’s way that they will experience the greatest blessing. The differing roles of men and women in marriage and the church should not lead us to believe there is any kind of inequality personally or spiritually between the genders. In the Word of God the principles of gender equality and women’s submission exist side by side. Genesis 1:26-27 reads, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Men and women are created equally with a likeness to God. They share dominion over all creation and are both commanded to rule over it. The second chapter of Genesis contains a more detailed recounting of the creation of Adam and Eve in which we see the divinely ordained functional ordering of leadership and submission between man and woman. Adam was created first (2:7), and Eve was created later in order to be a complement and helper to him (2:20-23). It is this creation order Paul mentions to support God’s intention for male leadership in the church (1 Timothy 2:13). This is the reason why the roles of pastors and elders are limited to men in the church.

I agree with everything he said, except for one thing: "only fertilize the number of eggs that you will use". There is NO WAY that the IVF team can know/guarantee that even ONE of, let's say, 7 retreived eggs will get fertilized at all! It is all by chance (or GOD). I know a case where 12 good eggs were retrieved (1 single treatment), 7 eggs were successfully fertilized but only 2 embryos survived until the day of transfer into the woman's uterus. Not ONE embryo survived in the womb, so no pregnancy despite 12 good eggs in the beginning to fertilize.. So humans cannot "play God" and "decide" how many eggs will get fertilized! You are basically saying that some retreived fresh eggs should be thrown away, if there are too many to use during an IVF treatment. That would be very risky because it reduces GREATLY the chance of conceiving a baby at all. If you do IVF you are challenged regarding your fertility and cannot "afford" ANY risk-taking. Why not just say that IVF is probably wrong/not Christian to begin with. Just my humble opinion, God bless.

Blessed are the womb that never give birth, and the breast that never feed. All things are not for all people. Nothing is wrong with either. But when if you’re praying or trying to conceive a child and God says no. What gives one the right to take it upon themselves and do it their way. Nicely said, but once you permit something, adding fine print is a way of saying that humans can play God and do it well. History proves that isn't possible. Being opposed "in principle" is a pretty good reason, if the principle is based on God's Word. Something being a strong natural desire (lust, in other words, if you just gotta have it) is not reason enough to indulge or approve. Not taking God at His Word and submitting to His Creation is the essence of Genesis 3. Delusion. Rationalization. The natural human desire to marry, to share a life with someone, and to create a family is the reason gay marriage is the law of the land. Perhaps this speaker endorses gay marriage as long as certain criteria are met? If God wants a couple to conceive, they will. That being said, I have no power to decide what's permissible and what is not. That's God's business. We read His Word and ask the Holy Spirit for enlightenment. The way I understand it, there is no argument for IVF other than "I want." The Israelites wanted a lot of things, but when they acted outside of God's will, it didn't go well. Food for thought.

@@rebekahboswell6430 they might be tested in their faith. remember Abraham and Sara? and then again, when God does not want some couples to conceive it is His will. His will is based on knowledge of many things. He knows something you cannot know. And you must accept His will. If not, then that is the point where your Christianity stumbles and falls. Remember, at least Abraham had a first child with a woman, naturally. IVF is something else. IVF is playing GOD. And the price is huge. Because when someone mingles into His creation, God stops it with infertility and sterility. That is how all plants and animals that are not conceived according to its kind and seed end up. Sterile. And that is what will happen to humans. Apart from the fact that these babies, could have in them, apart from 3 dna s if you do not know (which cannot be according to God s creation), who knows what some people, can put as dna in these embryos. I really do not wish to know. I would never accept to have IVF. But god made us all free in our will, yet, the price to pay for our disobedience will be paid bitterly.

Actually, there's a significant adoption movement among Christians, but adoptions are often cussedly difficult, involving tons of paperwork. In addition, international adoptions are becoming rarer as more and more countries restrict adoptions to parents from other countries. Personally, I think adoptions should be made easier, because there are so many orphans out there who need families, and there are so many wonderful couples out there who are willing to provide orphans with the love and care they need.

It would seem this guy said adoption is wrong. He said that marriage is “one flesh“ and that you should not use a sperm donor or a donor egg to conceive A child because it would only be the biological child of one parent. So wouldn’t it be worse to adopt when the child is biologically neither? That would make sense. This guy’s views are completely inconsistent. He’s taking his own beliefs and he is shoehorning it into the Bible.

@@S_u_n_Flower_ No, Christianity is a theory with little, to no, evidence to back it up. A book for man, written by man, is not evidence. God did not write it. You also can’t even get your hands on the original books of the Bible. A lot of the originals are missing, some books only have parts, others are so worn and torn that it’s nearly impossible to read and translate. So, that means there is almost zero proof that anything said in the Bible was actually said. And god didn’t write the Bible by speaking to man... If he did, some of the disciples would not have been contradicting his age at death. If God were speaking to them about what to write, all their stories would be the exact same. But all the books explain things and stories differently. You also can’t claim it as proof when the original text was lost in translation hundreds of times over the years. Meaning, what you think it says could mean something extremely different. Let’s also not forget there are many denominations who use many different versions of the Bible, and they can not all agree on the proper translations and what is taught. With that said, If the Bible is your evidence, it can not be trusted. So what other evidence is there? God hasn’t spoken to anyone like her did Mary or Adam and Eve. Or when he spoke to Moses? Or Noah? Why did he only do stuff like that then and not now? There’s zero evidence or logic.

How about starting this answer with: adoption. I'd like to hear Christians tell each other to walk the walk about the enforced carry of a fetus to term. You want birth control via non-implantation or termination to stop? Then you take your turn raising adopted children.

@mach7476
@mach7476 4 года назад
Martin Růžička Truth by nature is exclusive. And by the way, if you ask other religions, each one will say they are true and others are false. Each one claims exclusivity. Jesus Christ said “ I am the the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to God except by me” He is who he truly claims to be. He confirmed it by the nature of his birth , the life that he lived, all the miracles he did. He predicted the nature of his death and that he would rise again, which he did. To top it all, all of these were predicted by the prophets over centuries before his birth. No other religion can measure up to these facts. PS: Christianity is really not a religion but a relationship with God through Christ. May God reveal to you the Light of the Knowledge of His Glory in Christ Jesus, Amen.

@@mach7476 I agree with most of what you say, but Christianity is a religion. Christianity practice correctly & biblically is true religion. One of the more oblique reasons I find Christianity superior to other faiths is the fact that the Bible is way more impressive than any other so-called "holy book" out there. Most if not all holy books I'm aware of were written by one person over a period of a few months or years while the Bible has about 40 different writers writing over a period of about 1500 years and yet is very cohesive and consistent in its overall testimony.

All of this is 'intentionally destroying and redesigning the body'. So is a stent for a heart attack, lens implants for cataracts, joint implants for hips and knees. All IVF is doing is replicating a natural process - just like a hip implant . God gave us the ingenuity and the desire to be healers. If that weren't so, then Jesus would never have healed the sick. He would have told them to be content with their leprosy, their lameness, their blindness. dear pastor, what you are not saying, that IVF is not just making the egg and spermatozoid to meet in a petri dish. usually there is something wrong with the egg, it misses something, and that something is taken from another woman s egg. this ... is a donor woman, who donates her material for money. the healthier, higher educated she is, the most money she gets for her eggs. the problem is that these IVF children are hybrid. because they bear DNA from three persons (mother, father and donor). and this is against God s Creation. when God sees this, because this is the reason He destroyed Earth through the great flood, he makes a stop, and the offspring is infertile and sterile. just look at modified plants, modified animals, and now, modified humans! trust me, I know what I am talking about. praying is the only power to open a womb! when people think, no problem, I will solve it with money, and gets passed His will, when maybe they could have adopted, it becomes a real problem for all humanity. because less and less people will be able to procreate. and this will lead tp more Hybrid humans. When it says in the Bible in Genesis 6, 12 all flesh was corrupt, and corrupted his way, it means the genetics of His Creation was altered. Once altered by the union between fallen angels and women, which led to giant offspring, who were a great pest for humans, and also altered by altered animals (different species made to mate, since God said all should be according to its kind only). Have you ever seen, since the beginning of the 19th century, hybrid animals? Have you heard of Liger ? they are HUUUGE compared to their parents, which are a male lion, and a female tigress. is like a horse! weighing over a ton! yes, that is how giants appeared too! the Bible only tells the truth! Now, we have corrupted plants, corrupted animals, and corrupted humans. And that means that soon, God will intervene. Amin!

If no result and you are very desperate, then your last option could be the adoption of some children for this purpose too you need the guidance of the Lord.
