nutan though it is true military pay and pensions were downgraded in comparison to civil services ie ias and ips by 3rd pay commission which was constitued in 1970 and gave its report in 1973 and during this time field marshal sam manekshaw was the chief of indian army. But it would be not fair to put all blame on Manekshaw as he did as much he could within the limits of his power. The real culprits were the bureacrats especially the then defence secretary K.B LALL and the pay commission chairman Raghubir Dayal.

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw would have tossed Modi and co into a dustbin. He was a man of class unlike these ragtag BJP mamus and goons.

Hello Cyrus, I understand your feelings completely. Having served myself, I would admit he was the finest general Indian Army could ever have. As a matter of fact, his finesse turned against him. A general whose only wish was to fight a war on his own terms.. And so he became a thorn in every bureaucrats eye. So much that the bureaucrats didn't even deter insulting him over his deathbed. It has been after General Sam Bahadur, a tradition to hand pick generals of the same quality as bureaucrats themselves are. And hence today's state. It is the very reason Netaji Subhash Bose was removed, because his motive of keeping a military rule was to create a Unified mindset of Indians through military training. After 350 years of gulami culture, a strong military training would have made every citizen mentally strong and resolved enough to fight future 'exploits' in a better fashion. But he too was labeled a traitor and the people were brainwashed. So basically, any Govt you put and any guy you put on the chair today, will open a shopfloor next to his chair. The only hurdle to stop them is military, which has been an untamed horse for ages now. It is not like the pot bellied police who can't even cock their rifles when 26/11 happened, neither it is like IAS cadre making money on every licence they sign. Military is the ultimate curtailment to all sorts of Nexus with vested interests. It has always been for the people and not for any individual alone. Now, something can definitely happen if the citizens call out for it to take over through a complete no-vote campaign. And that is sure to happen. Some people have asked for it!!! Jai Hind!!!

Gen P C Katoch is a legendary Special Forces officer who fought in 71 war, op blue star, Sri Lanka etc. and even the current crop of SF officers r in awe of him. As to him not speaking up, I don't if there is another officer who has struggled and fought so much to improve our SF as much as him! Even in service, he was as outspoken and a no-nonsense man as he is now. While he was a brigadier he wrote a blistering letter(which is unthinkable in the army echelons) to the then Vice Chief of Saff Army abt the step-motherly treatment of Special Forces and had the audacity to tell him that "it's better to disband the SF than continue the sorry state they were in". Oh yeah, Shaurya Chakra also is also a Seva medal!!!

Kalicharan2009 the reality is that we are a poor country and have very limited resources. We are actually very rich but we have lakhs of leeches draining our blood. Anyhow now we are reaching the scenario of compromise. So we are now losing some things to gain some other things.

abhinav singh I am not saying that. Whatever things we lack in, we will have to pay our dues. Maybe we will lose more territory to China and will be forced a negotiation because we are not powerful. But why are we not powerful. Why cant we see the bull running towards us. We don’t have that much of resources. Our budget has a lot of problems in front of it to solve. So we are now compromising on some things (defence) to other things (corruption, election, housing, toilets and roads and jobs, aka mnc slavery).
