Thank you so much for this video. Our 2 year old has been all out of routine due to a bug/cough and sleeping with us. Yesterday i decided enough was enough, revisited this video and he slept 7pm to 7am again! I could dancr, Thank You!!!!
Great! White or pink noise to reduce the external noises is a very rational decision! 👍 By the way, i'm just going to upload to my videos the 8-hour white noise for sleeping in couple of days
I need this video. Thank you. My just 1 year old thinks 445 - 5 is time to get up. We’re in a vicious cycle I can’t get him of it. He’s back in bed napping by 7 he’s that tired. He is in bed by 630 at the latest as he’s exhausted xx
Jade Woodhead we haven’t overcome this. We’ve realised through lots of doctors appointment he has swollen tonsils and adenoids so no resolving it until he has them taken out x
Hello Rosie My 13 month old has recently started waking between 4-5 am before her 1 year old jags she was just up once through the night she is now up 3 or 4 times, I will give her milk if nothing else works. Then she is wanting to get up at 4/5am. Shes not great at self soothing. I put her down asleep. She usually has a good 2 hour nap if she gets up at 6 , nap at 11 till half 1 /2 then bed between half 6 /7 x
Thanks for the tips Rosie. My 13 month old has been waking around 5am for the past month almost. He seems ready to start the day and cries asking for milk. On the odd occasion he has gone back to sleep after a feed. I’ve tried tweaking naps during the day, he still has 2. Should his first nap be shorter or longer than the second? Or is it possible he’s transitioning to one nap? Im going to try foil on the windows to darken the room further as it’s quite bright at that time in the mornings.
Hi Rosie, please do you have any suggestions on breaking the 5am-5pm vicious cycle?! I can’t get her naps right, she’s too tired by 10am to wait till later but then I’m fighting to keep her up by 6pm…
My boy is 4 months old. We start bedtime routine at 6 with bath feed and then bed. He normally falls asleep between 7:30 and 8pm. I rock him until he is drowsy then put him down. He sometimes settles himself or other times I have to tap his stomach and he goes over. We have a my hummy which we use the sleep sensor mode, so it runs for 1 hour then comes on again whenever he makes a sound. He normally stirs between 10-11 and I have to put the shusher on and pat his stomach for few minutes and he goes back to sleep. Then normally wakes between 2-3 for a feed and goes straight back down. He does seem to stir again about 5:30 and sometimes the shusher and tapping works and he wakes about 6:30 but other times it doesn’t. Is there anything else I can do to help him stop waking early?
Just chill baby sleep, can I ask from which age you can call your baby an early waker? My baby is just under 4 months and maybe I should just wait because its normaal at this age? Or should I already be panicking :)
Great video, thank you so much! I have a 7 month old and we are moving in August and will have a month living with family (at different houses) Would I be better just waiting until we are in our new house in September to attempt any changes? Or do you think it’s worth giving it a shot now?
My 14 month old has started waking early now, some days it varies from half 4 up to half 5. She is going through a nap transition from 1 to 2 and we are struggling abit. When she wakes up early is it ok to leave them until an appropriate wake time if she isn’t hysterically crying? I used to go in and feed her and put her back to bed and she would fall asleep by herself. Her nappy is always really wet and puffed up so I think it wakes her but it I go in and change her without feeding she cries. I am unsure what to do.
Its okay to leave her as long as she is comfortable. Maybe consider how much milk she is having during the night? Sometimes it can improve if they have a cup of milk before bedtime rather than a bottle.
Thank you, great video. Do you think an hour and half is too much for a morning sleep with another hour at lunch? Could that be contributing to early waking, I'm thinking I may need to wake my baby from her morning nap early , thank you so much
My 4 year old son is an early bird too wakes at 5.30 🤦♀️No naps after pre school . We live in Greece so 7 o clock is daylight and he knows that “we sleep when is dark outside “ .( obviously has a sense of humor ) any suggestions on that ?
Is there anything I can do about my little one waking early morning to do a poo!?Change them then leave them? They aren’t waking upset but can’t settle back to sleep.
its a tricky one. It might be that they are waking and then doing a poo. It tends to be a phase though. You could try changing and comforting keeping it dark and quiet and see if baby will go back off x
Hiya I purchased your 6-9 month course and it has been a life changer! However after 1 successful week of waking at 630 instead of his usual early waking he has gone back to waking anywhere between 4-6am 😒 your course didnt explain what to do if this then happens as I am following it to the tee. Shall I just continue and hope it changes again? Xx
Amy Smith I’m so glad the course has helped you. Check it’s super dark in the room. 4am is still night time so continue to use settling methods. 6am is an ok time to get up.. Think about naps - don’t give a nap that’s too long or too early (within reason ) xx
Great video would you introduce white noise to an 11 month old? She's waking at 5/5.30 we have reduced her naps but she got worse and woke at 4.50 so she's back to 1 hour to 45 minutes in the morning and an hour in the afternoon we also have a black out blind x
5mo, trying to follow your course and rewatched this for the hundredth time. I can settle her back to sleep after 30ml of food so tiny amount but nothing else currently settles at night. I’ve got this amount down from giving her 120 so going in right direction. Should I still settle her if awake at 5.50? It’s possible she’d only then get 6.30-7 sleep until start of day 😩
hi, it can be a tricky time to crack, but it sounds like you are making progress. I would keep trying to settle her for a bit and see how you get on. Hopefully it will fall into place in the coming weeks x
@@JustChillBabySleep thank you for replying. I hope so! Trying to push first nap a bit later in the day and I wake her after 60 mins so I might make it a tad shorter too. Hopefully that will help? X
Thank you for the video. I have a 5mo and have bought your course. Naps have been on track during the day as well as bedtime and he is self settling. Recently he has been waking at 5.15. Am happy to try tweaks but I don't know what to do regarding naps with such an early wake. He wants to go back down by 7.30 but then can easily sleep until 9.15. Is this too long? Or should I bring everything forward? I know I definitely can't keep him up until 8.45 to have his first scheduled nap. I think this is what might be stopping things going back to normal but I don't want him being overtired with stretching too long but then undertired by letting him have such a long morning nap. Would really appreciate if you are able to advise if possible. Thank you
I would try to gradually push out the nap a little bit each day, and make it a little shorter. Otherwise baby uses the nap to catch up and cements the early wake. x
My 13 month old has started waking somewhere between 4 and 5 after she was sleeping through. She’s been doing it for almost 2 weeks now. Initially I thought it was teething and gave her a little bottle to settle her a couple of nights at the start. Has this become a habit because I gave her milk recently? She is able to self soothe and does so at night no bother and if I give her the milk at 4 and put her in her cot awake she will self settle again and sleep until 7:30-8. But if I don’t give her the milk she’ll scream and cry and won’t go back herself. Have I done this?
I would try to avoid giving the milk if possible. Perhaps give a smaller amount for a few mornings and then try to stop it. At this age you want to move away from bottles and onto cups for milk during the day. I would also check its not something else waking her - the light, or perhaps its a routine issue x
Thanks Rosie. I’ve just bought some of the nuk kiddy/active cups as a transition. We use sippy cups in the day too but maybe we should just ditch the bottle now as it could be the issue. I’ll also look at routine adjusting. She’s doing 1 2/2.5 hour nap which has been working but I’ve noticed this has shortened with the early weakening so not adequate daytime sleep possibly.
I know you can't say for certain, as every child is different, but roughly what times should naps be for 10 month old and how long for? My 10mo only naps for 40 mins in cot and can't get him to fall asleep on his own. Sleep is non existent in our house :(
Hi, thanks for this video. My little girl is 12 weeks old. I start her bedtime routine at 7 30pm and shes usually asleep by 8pm. She wakes around 5 30 for a feed and goes back down till 8. At what time should I make sure she is awake before her bedtime routine starts? (Last nap of the day) x
