Not really. The average viewership is around 135 million people. That means over 200 million people do not watch the Super Bowl.

At my job, Super Bowl Sunday and Super Bowl Monday are blackout dates, and you will get in trouble if you call off even if it’s a legit reason

Even if it did become a national holiday, I still wouldn’t get the day off because I work in retail. The only days I’m guaranteed off are Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Like some people are saying, it may make more sense instead to petition the NFL to change the day of the event to Saturday instead of Sunday, that way you don't have to try to make the government make another holiday for it and people will still have a day to recover before they have to go back to work/school. Either way, I do think something needs to change because of how much it can disrupt schools in particular. Many teachers and students alike may not show up, and those who do are often not in the right state of mind after such events to effectively teach/learn.

The deadliest day of the year is Super Bowl Sunday. We could literally save lives if we just make that Monday a holiday so drunk people could just stay at whatever house their already at to watch the game

It should be a holiday. Everyone celebrates it way more than holidays like Columbus Day Or Memorial Day. Those days are just days off work for 95% of Americans meanwhile the Super Bowl actually means something to people

That is a good point. Some states are already pushing to either get rid of Columbus Day or replace it with Indigenous People's Day anyway, since Columbus is not someone who should be celebrated. So, some other potential solutions could be to either get rid of Columbus Day and replace it with Super Bowl Monday, or enact a policy requiring President's Day to always be observed the day after the Super Bowl since that's also a national holiday that takes place on a Monday in February anyway.

Super Bowl LXI will fall on Sunday, February 14. The next day, Monday, February 15, Is President's Day. This only applies when Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday.

125 million ppl (not counting all the illegal sttreams) watched the superbowl this year. that number keeps increasing year after year. if you count all the highlights on social media, 2/3rds the country saw it

they should just put the Super Bowl on President's Day weekend. all they need to do is start a week later, OR add another game, OR give teams a second BYE week, OR add another round to the playoffs

Sure if we make it a national holiday we’re allowing the NFL and broadcasting channel to make more money, but I honestly don’t care. I want to be able to hangout with my friends without worrying about work the next day and just don’t care about work. I give zero fucks about employers and their productivity concerns. It would also just be nice to have another day off

I am 40 years old, have watched football my entire life and I've never had to miss a Superbowl, or work the day after. If you love football your boss knows, and probably won't push back on you taking a day. It doesn't need to be a national holiday.

The Super Bowl should be on a Saturday. Do you know the amount of teacher absences & other professional absences & unproductiveness on Super Bowl Monday? They have two weeks off before their last playoff game. Making easy play the game on Saturday and 13 days rest instead of 14 days rest. When I was a kid growing up in the 70s the Super Bowl used to be at 3:30pm on the East Coast Now it’s ridiculous at 6:30pm With KC and SF the presentation wasn’t over til after 11pm. If you are attending a Super Bowl party somewhere else and then you have to drive home. it’s no wonder why there’s a lot of call -out absences on Monday.

If the NFL, in their never ending search for more money, adds a Week 19 to the regular season schedule, it won’t matter. Presidents’ Day will become the national holiday everyone’s asking for.

@@zackaryhunt5851 yes Sherlock it’s currently called “Super Bowl Sunday”, but what’s the big deal if it’s called “Super Bowl Saturday” I’d be in a lot of favor for it, because there’s already 11 national holidays. Where government workers are getting paid to be off of. It’s a lot easier than make the game on Saturday instead of trying to make a 12 national holiday.
