If that was a T6 thermostat they had on there, then the w1 terminal gets energized in cooling mode for some reason. Heat strips need to be on w2/aux on those stats
I use to run a bar on OSU campus in Columbus. Was introduced to the Michigan/Ohio rivalry pretty quickly. I moved there from Nashville. Now a licensed hvac technician in Connecticut. It’s a funny world.
Down here in the south I have seen a thermostat do this for dehumidification runs the compressor to pull the humidity out of the air and heat strips to keep the building from being a refrigerator. 👍👍👍👍
That’s what I believe had happened to one of the units…calling for cooling and then heat strips kept tripping on, and somehow, ruined the compressor. Thankfully it was under warranty since it was a brand new carrier unit from 5 years ago. I need to make sure the heat strips r kicking on or else the new compressor will be bye-bye soon lol
What is the RIB relay doing? Why is it there?Wired incorrectly/backfeeding, like another person said. Seems like someone who had no clue what they were doing was messing with/installed this unit!! SiteSage thermostat installed by someone that knows just enough to be dangerous!!
