One can learn so much information from this video, except "the real reason behind the conflict between Iran and Israel".

"He wrote several books on a particular topic in two languages. So he really knows what he's talking about..." , This is the most superficial thing I've heard in a while. What an insult to the audience's intelligence.

I love the way it starts by jumping from 1948 to 1979, completely ignoring the US/UK coup of 1953, the seminal event in the history of modern Iran, on which everting in today's Middel East has pivioted. Jesus ! This passes for journalism ???

As an Iranian I would like to thank DW for its comprehensive report on this. However one thing that was not mentioned in this report was the internal problems within Iran as there have been many bloody protests and riots against the government within Iran over the last two years, so other than the fact that the current government has been trying to spend billions of dollars to fund its ideological goals, it has also been trying to use this conflict in the region as a means of distraction and diverting the attention of people from real internal issues facing the country.

Incredibly, you did not mention the recent agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia brokered by China that led even to an exchage of ambassadors and put and end to Iran's isolation, nor did you mention Syria position nor the fact that Israel owns 100-200 nuclear bombs. More, you reported and used the US and EU definitions of IRAN as they were "the truth", while they're obviously negative. So your storytelling is very partial, in my opinion.

This is not what I expected from this video, seems it's trying to manufacture consent for something against Iran, putting all the blame on them

This video is not good enough to explain how much the issue is complicated. The Israelis-Iranian relationship is far more complex than this document briefly mentioned. For example, the Israeli ambassador to South Korea once said to Koreans "One day, we will have a peaceful relationship with Iran, I am sure. For we have no issue or argument with Iran as a country. Maybe around that time, the Korean peninsula would be united." The Israeli diplomat might have lied to Koreans, but I believe this comment shows that the Israeli foreign policy establishment sees their relationship with Iran in a multi-dimensional way. And Iranians are not as simple and homogeneous as this video describes. They have a sophisticated and institutionalised governance system. Some may be religious and ideological but others must be practical and competitive. That is why the Iranian regime managed to survive even though there was and is a lot of pressure to destroy it. To sum up, my point is this: do not underestimate how far both Israelis and Iranians are capable and how complicated each of their internal societies are. It's not that much simple. If it were, it would have been much easier to deal with this issue.

My Ex-Wife is an Iranian expatriate. She was lucky enough to *escape* from Iran in 2010. According to her, the majority of Iranian people do not hate the Israeli people. They hate the Regime and resent the of funding of proxy wars over helping Iranians citizens. The Mullahs-Regime have destroyed the Iranian economy, and forced its citizens to fall into line.

So.. What was the "real reason"? I somehow missed that.

Two formerly friendly countries turned into enemies. We pray for peace.

Israel without the U.S. is insignificant

Does Azerbaijan have an adversarial relationship with Iran? If not, it's hard to imagine it would allow Israel to launch strikes from within its borders, which could result in retaliatory attacks on its own land.

You mentioned that Israel and Saudi Arabia were close to start deplomatic relations before October 7th and Iran didn't like it but you forgot to mention that Iran and Saudi Arabia had already normalized their relationship before Oct 7th

Cyrus is remembered in history because of his political philosophy of tolerance and respect toward non-Persians and his demonstration of mercy on his defeated foe. After establishing his empire, Cyrus allowed all subjects to participate in governance.

This is not the "real reason" behind the conflict. This is just an explanation of how the conflict is progressing. The disabled pipeline is a consequence not an underlying cause.

I had a respect for DW from my childhood that they will publish news or report based on truth but in this report should be more research based. You just give the responsibility to a specific country on behalf of another. I wish news and media should be free and fare.

You are right when you conclude that the October attack on Israel is a desire to cross out the possibility of establishing relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. But Retelling a story from small pieces and at the same time the way you draw conclusions is terrible. Simplifying history and relationships between countries leads your audience to ignorance and, as a result, misinformation. Please, if you do journalism, do it professionally.

I believe it is dangerous to assume that Iran won't get involved directly, it might even come in with Turkey, Russia, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Brazil, and other countries.

For What its worth. My Dad was in the middle east in ww2. In Syria. Palestine and Egypt. Now. For what? Thankfully. Hes now in heaven.

The real reason is that Israel regime is a lagacy of the colonialism and it is an apartheid and occupier regime. After the 1979 revolution, Iran announced that it does not recognize two regimes, the apartheid regime of South Africa and the apartheid regime of Israel.

The nation of Iran doesn't oppose Israel or America. The demonstrations you showed are filled with the minority of people who support the regime. Less than 10% of the people. The heart of the nation of Iran is with Israel and the US.

Can someone recommend a video about the history of this conflict. I will be completely honest I see this topic come up in the news alllllllll the time but I swear I can’t tell you who is who or even point these countries out on the map.

The video starts wit the iran pipeline but selectively decides not to mention that the shah isntalled by the west for western interests to take oil out of iran.

I am sad to say that Germany is turning right, perhaps even gradually extreme. Yes I understand the German historic context and its "need" to support Israel. Thus Germany has chosen to take sides based on guilt/shame and not on humanitarian grounds.

I would addressed why no one seems to like the Palestinians. Yes, many people are protesting the war in Gaza but the response from other Arab countries has been pretty mild given the devastation. Beyond rhetoric, there has been virtually no response from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States. Iran doesn't seem to doing any thing more than sticking a finger in the eye of Israel and the United States. Even Hezbollah who one would think would rise up has only launched a few token missiles. It seems as though most would like the Palestinians to just disappear. It took a non-Arab country, South Africa, to bring forth a charge of genocide to the International Court of Justice.
