Except its not accurate. Vox says the Palestinians only claim East Jerusalem. In fact they claim ALL of Jerusalem. That is why they are angry when the US puts an embassy in WEST Jerusalem. If they only claimed East Jerusalem then it shouldn't bother them, if there is an embassy in West Jerusalem.

But the groups don't have to have exclusionary ideologies. Hell as you can see the Palestinians are basically offering a compromise and only want the part of Jerusalem that isn't particularly connected to Judaism. On the other hand Israelis want everything. It's a bit sad that an ethnic group that has been persecuted for years around the world now does the same to another ethnic group that has also fought for independence even years before the modern Israel was formed. I understand that Palestinian territories may hide terrorists or other factions Israelis may not like but giving them independence would actually be a better choice since it would ease the tensions and allowing the people in those areas to focus on building their own communities would limit the aggression. I don't understand why Israel polititians are so stubborn, not only they are hurting thousands of innocent people but they are hurting their own citizens who are also victims of the violence cause by the absurd politics they follow.

Its much easier to make promises on the outside, but when you're in that position and able to get much more information about the situation, you now have a more informed view on it. Saying presidents have to stick to their promises from a year ago is basically saying, you can't show growth or development when in office. If I promised to end world hunger, but I found out after being elected that it would cost the US trillions of dollars, I'll break that promise. Of course most would be upset, but as the president, you have to what's best for the entire country and our allies, not just your voters. You gotta make the tough choices, which often means breaking your own promises.

I support the idea of a two state solution, but Jerusalem entirely belongs to Israel alone. Before being exhiled by the Romans, Israel had it's capital in Jerusalem. No cutting Jerusalem in half and leaving the city COMPLETELY in the hands of Israel ALONE, and the West Bank should be declared the new sovereign state of Palestine, free of Jews, entirely the property of Palestinians alone. That's the only way I can see this ending correctly and fairly.
