The Fender Mustang is one of the coolest designs they company has ever had, and in today's video I talk about the very first Japanese made reissues of the guitar that began shortly after American production was ended and just why the guitar model became so popular in Japan!

Jim, Bought, on your review, a Squier Classic Vibe FSR Mustang and I LOVE IT! I never considered or even gave a Mustang a second look. Being 70 years young the light weight, short scale, diminutive size and outstanding playability you’ve breathed new life into my playing. Thanks for your informative and honest reviews and keep up the good work! 😊

Great video and great playing Jim, glad to see you hit the ground running in the new year. A video on some of the different Roadstars that Ibanez put out in the 80's would be cool. There are some real gems there - saw a video of Paul Gilbert playing a gorgeous reverse burst one with a single angled humbucker in the bridge and a floating trem. That thing was killer.

Thanks Panda, it's funny you mention them because I have never had Ibanez on this channel and have been looking around for about two weeks trying to figure out which model I'd like to give a try first.

I have a Squier Bullet Mustang (Imperial Blue) that I modded with P90s, a white pearl pickguard with P90 cutouts, locking tuners, roller trees and a neck shim to make it easier to intonate. I also ordered the new Squier Sonic Mustang SS in Torino Red that's supposed to arrive today. I'm also putting locking tuners and a neck shim on it as well. I love how the maple fretboard looks with the red body.

I always have a ton of fun playing them, they are so light and the scale length makes it really easy. Didn't expect myself to get so aggressive with it but it really just worked that day ahah

Have to admit I am hooked on the Japanese guitars, especially the short scale! I am an old duffer trying to learn guitar with all my physical maladies so the short scale is very helpful. Been going thru your videos and really enjoying them so just subscribed. Learning a lot and appreciate your videos! Any info on the current Japanese factory offerings might be interesting, maybe the Junior Collection which are short scale but difficult to get new here in the US. Where are they made, etc? Anyway, thanks for your content! Apologies if you have covered this and I haven’t seen it yet.

I bought a candy apple red Fujigen JMG6R (the ones with the "FGN" logo in the goofy take-out food font on the hook-nose headstock) a while back and I love it, but I can't find much information on it or that period of time when Fujigen were producing Fujigen-branded Mustangs and stuff. I'd like to see a video on Fujigen and their branded stuff (especially highlighting the JMG6, though). I also noticed an abundance of cheap red Mustangs on Japanese auction site, so Char not playing red ones definitely explains that. I love fiesta red, so that works out in my favor.

Nice! Have an Arctic White Bullet Mustang that hardly ever gets played. It' s my travel guitar but haven't gone anywhere for awhile so it's been living in It's case. Has a set of Gotoh Magnum Lock-Trad 6-In-Line Tuners on it so there's a little bit of Japan to it. Need to put it out on stand and play it for awhile. Cheers!

thanks man, for mustangs on the bridge pickup 4mm on the bass side from the string, 4.5mm ( roughly ) on the treble side. It's subtle but it brings a little more low end out of it.

Have you tried the FSR CV Mustang that we’re meant for the Japanese domestic market? Those are made it China but came with Fender USA pickups and trem. Amazing workmanship on those. They are just as good as the Japanese Mustangs I’ve tried.
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic Год назад
I do find it funny how in Japan they get runs like that for Squier and for Epiphone (the Shinichi Ubukata 355 for example) that far surpass what we get here in the USA in their budget lines. They simply don't settle and even on lower end models make sure they are done to a standard they are happy with. I'm not surprised at all they are great guitars but I haven't actually had one in my hands.

I have a couple of Mustangs but I really find that their sound is not as powerful as in your videos! What would you suggest, hardware wise (effect pedals, pickups, amps etc) in order to achieve a sound similar to yours in this video? Thanks!!
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic Месяц назад
first try raising the pickups, other than that you gotta really push the amp a bit to open them up. What kind of amp are you using, I can try to give you some recommended settings if I know that. They sound really really big once you dial them in and you don't need to replace the pickups OR hardware to get them to sound that way.

so, this is a 80's reissue of a 60's mustang, but why does it have the 70's mustang body with the belly carve?^^
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic 8 месяцев назад
the answer for that is weird actually - they didn't want people to confuse these early japanese reissues with older american ones. same reason the color choices were a bit off too. really odd time considering all of this was taking place as the fullerton factory shut down and they were opening up the corona plant
