I love Jim Breuer. I once wanted to order a DVD from the US with his stand-up, but because of shipping costs was unavailable due to the fact that I live in the Netherlands. He sent me the DVD for free with a personal note. Thanks again Jim.
Wow, that shit is actually really cool!! What a great guy, most people wouldn't do that. They wouldn't even reply or open any message or letter that gets sent to them. That's really dope though, cool to know
The guy does a brilliant job of describing the way you suffer as a human being when you’re in a toxic environment at work. It’s beautiful to see he kept his integrity. And all the respect to his wife for being supportive yet tough “look at you, you’re miserable… this is not Jim. Where’s goofy uplifting Jim” All the respect for his honesty. I bet there are people that this helps them feeling like someone else knows that sort of misery but got out of there & how good it feels when you look back knowing you’re ok now
Honestly while watching Jim Breuer go through the pains of working in that environment at SNL I could relate. When you show up everyday and you look around to people who are so sullen , barely even socially aware, just ignorant ,that is my current reality at work. Going to take the advice and move on...no job is worth the b.s
Jim did a meet-n-greet at my record store promoting his album (on Metal Blade records). He was so nice to everyone that came in. Told stories and was so personable. I had 4 tickets comp'd to his show to give away at the MNG but he gave me n my wife two tickets for ourselves. He also sent a msg to meet him after the show and he thanked me n bought me a beer. Just insanely nice. Thanks Jim. Fuckin class act.
"If any job makes you that miserable...." word! These are words to live by! And for him to give a positive shout out to his wife is very admirable (so said all wives who watch this, haha) Totally salute him for walking away! That is a normal and healthy response to the bullying that goes on in many jobs.

They probably shaped my sense of humor more than anything else in my life. I probably saw every episode three times before finishing high school, just because it was always on Comedy Central.
I met Dave Foley once on the set of Kids in the Halls "Death Comes to Town". My son was the baby that played baby Ricky/ the test baby in the abortion clinic. Dave made a special point to personally come meet us in the trailer, make sure everything was great and the crew was treating us well, and then held my son for about 2 hours as they set up just to get to know him. It seriously doesn't get nicer than that dude.
Man I’ve always loved Jim Bruer, but within the past three years he has really shown himself to be a solid dude with a good head on his shoulders that doesn’t just lie down for people. Utmost respect
I've been in a sorta similar workplace environment. Your idea gets shot down at one meeting. A month later, someone else brings up the same idea, and "Gee, what a great idea!" It was great relief getting the hell outta there.
My ex used to do this to me. I could say something interesting to him about the rainforest. Like how many inches of rain it gets a year or whatever. And he'd pretend like he was ignoring me as if he didn't care. Then a week later he'd tell me the EXACT thing I said about the rainforest as if he is educating me on it. Lmao. Weird as hell. It's a form of gaslighting.
Jim is not only really funny, but also just a really nice guy. It's not often that you get that combination. Usually when someone is really funny it is because they have serious boundary issues.
@@derrickseals3862 been there but best decision i made was to quit and found a new job that i ended up loving. Just gotta envision what you want and it will come.
Cameron Diaz (whom I was not a fan of) walked away on top from eight digit paychecks to raise a kid and family. They’re out there. Not many. Hollywood is dead, they just don’t know it.
When Breuer was one of the funniest dudes on SNL back in the day. I taught myself how to do Goat Boy as a twelve year old. When I took an improv class twenty years later and we were animals I let out his goat sound, it crushed every time. Pretty sure I owe him royalties on those laughs.
He's a funny guy but his body language is the very definition of annoying. The constant flopping combined with that flat look probably gets him in fights everywhere he goes.
I never knew this about Jim. I photographed him when he was on Sirus and he was really great to me. I was in the studio with him while he was taping his talk show with his 2 co-stars and it was a great experience thanks to Jim.
I remember when Jim was on SNL. Goat boy, in my opinion, is the absolute most hilarious skit/s I've ever seen. The "free drinks at the bar" story, whether true or not, is pure comedy genius. Between SNL, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Price is Right which one has been on TV the longest? Does anyone wanna take a guess at when will SNL end if it ever does end.
If you keep your ideas to yourself, how would you ever do anything in entertainment? This is a dumb comment. Yeah people try to steal but how could you ever make a movie or a show without telling other people your ideas so they can all make it like any complex production does. You must be like 14 and naive or something because keeping your ideas to yourself will give you literally nothing in life lol.
Just listening to how they treated him was very well said . I have been treated like I didn't matter while ppl were getting credit for my work. It's an insult to know what they're doing, yet they try to hide it or act like you're crazy. They will rip you up and make you out to be crazy, like they've done so many times before.
I absolutely love the chemistry between Jim and Joe, I'd love to see more of them just rambling and riffing off of each other, Netflix if you're paying attention!
I met Jim Breuer at Newark Airport a few years ago. He was super cool, friendly and minding his own business.. he took the time to give me advice on being a father and how to get my life together. I was going through some shit at the time. He's a real one and I'll never forget him. Edit: a word
Ive always liked Breuer he seems like a genuine guy......i feel like when he tells a story hes telling it how it happened, instead of telling it in a way to make himself look better.
So much respect for Jim...Calls it like it is, will always have "real people" around him as long as he keeps using his own mind...He a luckier person maybe than he realizes...🙏
I used to smoke weed like it was going out of fashion but stopped abruptly as it wasn't enjoyable anymore but after six months I came out of the weed-bubble and I now think more coherently and positively.
This was all Lorne Michaels. Even if he didnt actively encourage he sure as hell didnt do anything to stop it. It's his own little comedy sweatshop. With cheaper and cheaper product as time goes by.
I feel the same way, He must be a tyrant and he used the old 'divide and conquer' method to further his career. SNL has been a joke for the last 30 years or so and not a good joke either.
I love how he's trying to be nice and not name names in the story about how somebody stole his sketch, and then from the impressions you can clearly tell it's Kattan ;')
I used to love SNL, but haven’t watched it in years. I never had any idea that writers had so much pull there. Jim is hilarious, went see him perform locally a few years back. Was a great show!
Yeah, I was under the impression the cast wrote most of their own skits and made up their characters as well. That the writers were there to tidy up the loose ends, right?
omg, I love Jim, man, and I've been watching the guy for quite some time and he's so chill and to bring this dude on the brink of violence is something...
To me, it goes back to Tina Fey pushed up the ladder while an NBC big shot bullied Norm out of SNL over OJ Simpson jokes. It's always been political on SNL. Chevy Chase admitted they were all liberals using the show politically, actually trying to affect real-world outcomes in US elections. He mocked the nonsense obsession they had in destroying Sarah Palin, where the motives were obvious. These aren't nice people. This is also New York, so the scummy elitism is off the scale.
That rant is scary good!…….I mean, he switched on a dime, to that moment of anger……..he transported to 1998 !……. It shows his passion….his heart……his honesty……..his incredible acting chops…..but it wasn’t acting…..he went to that emotion better then a Brando or Bale…..🫡🎩
@@corbydinzen5356 The point being, that after years of hearing their absurd statements in award shows, their disdain for many average people in the US, and hatred for anyone that disagrees with them politically.... the fact that they are terrible coworkers "made perfect sense".
Also, they have about a 10% hit rate on actually being funny. And I mean since the VERY beginning. These days it is more like 1% are funny. Compare that to something like Key & Peele. Consistently funny, rare misses.
always thought he was ok, but HUGE fan now! has the balls to speak honestly in this day & age. hope more & more celebrities see that there’s a huge market for real comedy & patriotic normal entertainment !
One of my favorite things about Joe is that he’s a good friend to his friends. He had so much respect for Phil and he makes sure to keep his memory alive with his audience. A true friend.
@@norm-fy5mo Chris idk but the kid will always be his brother. Is it just me or are these new attempts by Chris trying to make a comeback a little weird?
I only watched SNL in the beginning so i do not know the newer cast members.. The name Jim Breuer is familiar but now I'll know his face. Love he thinks for himself!
Had the pleasure seeing Jim live a few years back. Dude did a skit about bringing his family on an African safari and he was doing all the animal noises and how freaked out they were. Shit had my and my wife dying.
I actually went to Dan Gables wresting camp when I was 10. Him, Tom, and Terry Brands were awesome coaches. Not only did it make me a better wrestler it gave me good fundamentals and a lot of discipline that I still use in every aspect of my life. Really cool to see him on Joe’s podcast.
He refused to detach himself from being a loving human being. That's what it takes to make it in the fame game. The higher up, the more miserable they become. Much love and respect to Jim! I just watched his other JR appearances and yeah, he's just a good human being with a good logical head on his shoulders.
If you're ever driving or just have some time to yourself, you can the absolute best Breuer stories are of him on Opie and Anthony, ones called Pizza Man (about his mafioso neighbor) the and his crazy elderly mother secretly abusing his father who had dementia, whom had to move into Jim's house whilst his mom lived alone but had like day nurses /maids over. Sounds dark but Jim's so funny and has a heart of gold.
He has always come across as such a down to earth guy. He’s likely pushed to an unreal stress level - heard him say on his podcast his beloved wife is battling some scary health issues. love him so much as a comedian and who he seems to be as a person.
Listen to any of his stories on his family and father on O&A, Breuer is probably THE best storyteller on that show, if not, one of the best, and doesn't shy away from most things either, tells it pretty much like it is, he's a very good dude.👍
@@johnabillz4457 that's cool, your dad's a lucky guy 😁I'm going to one of Breuer's show this year hopefully,if I can find time, been watching him since his SNL days, very funny then and very funny now, one of the very few celebrities I look up to 👍
Jim Breuer endured the toxicity of SNL, and gave the world Goat Boy. We are forever indebted to you Jim. When it comes to stand up, he is legit the G.O.A.T
Well what do you want him to do, stop the guy and tell him to calm down? He let's his guests express themselves how they want to and he reacts as respectful as he can. But who the fuck am I? Lol
@@RouxRouxRingo That, and he probably figures an audience hearing a celebrity emotionally going off about toxic behind the scenes stuff on a TV show a lot of us grew up watching, makes for good radio. Why get in the way of that?
@@sainters7 exactly, thanks for adding that. Your input was appreciated. I'm loving the conversations I've been having through RU-vid comments lately. One great thing this pandemic has done for me!
I'm sure it's always been like that. You're in a business with tons of individuals who have giant egos, then there's favoritism and kissing ass. I had to deal with the same shit in college when I majored in art, it was garbage. Most businesses environments are the same, especially when it comes to creative decisions and projects.
I kind of think today's backstage isn't nearly as competitive with the greatest comedians in the world striving for their material as it used to be....
@@aus-li and that's why media hate youtubers and social media creators, and try to show them that the next step over social media is Hollywood or Mainstream media, at the end all is BS.
"If any job, no matter how much it paid, makes you a miserable human being, and changes the person you are, you aren't gonna work there." FANTASTIC quote, and something everyone should take to heart. I have left horrible jobs in my career and never realized how miserable I was until I moved on.
I was on a different Tab looking up how much time is left on Joe's spotify deal and my Speaker went nuts with Jim screaming that shit. I love you Jim but FFS bring it down a notch Jim.
I like how Jim gave us the real stories behind the scenes at SNL. I always wondered why some really good sketch artists always seemed to leave at some point from the show. Sounds like it ruins a persons love fir the craft.
I saw Jim live and it was hysterical! You’re watching him, and you’re like, “He has got the whole magilla figured out!!!” and within 2 seconds, you’re thinking “This is the most hysterically unhinged kaaa-RAZY guy I EVER saw!” I think he’s one of the most underrated comic geniuses out there! Mucho love to Jim and please keep bringing your comedy to fans everywhere!
I got a borderline panic attack listening to Jim. I know what it’s like to be in a toxic workplace. It’s agitating just listening to and knowing that feeling.
That sucks. Is that usually with work thats competitive? I'm scared of having a job like that because I'm so sensitive lmao I would probably cry everyday. I've always just kept to myself, been cordial but thats it and it seems to work against me if I want to "climb the ladder"
I dont remember if I watched it but ima check cause i definietly fukk with him as a overall guy man. always wish He got a bigger paltform a show or something......Im 7 minutes in and this dudes impressions are causing pain in my kidney.....and i like it lol
I love all his old stern interviews when he imitated Tracy and Dave. So so funny. One of the best guest ever on stern along with Tracy Morgan. Treat yourself to a old Tracy Morgan stern video then watch jim on stern after. He sounds just like him.
@@seanwilks7712 I can see why....the impressions and just the consistency of him its hard for me to say it not one of the better specials ive seen. Just naturely good stuff and its very relatable
In 2011 I picked up some part time hours on nights and weekends at one of those pop up Halloween stores and Jim came in with his daughter and was super friendly and respectful of people talking to him and asking him questions! Really down to earth human being! He’s too nice for hollyweird!
Harold Ramis had a chance to work on SNL. When he saw the environment, he didn't want anything to do with it. Crazy hours, drugs, the competition. He head wrote SCTV. The essence of great comedy is collaboration, not competition.
I went to hospital with a infection. It went septic. After 4 days they told my family I had had strokes and was having 6 to 9heart attacks a day my kidneys and lungs no longer function on their own and the heart sttacts have left me brain dead. They call my family and told them I was no longer viable, what do you wants is to do. Well they scheduled a zoom unplugging on a Friday. Fortunately my youngest Daughter and my youngest Brother couldn't make it. They rescheduled it for the following Sunday. They lowered the narcotics they were giving me on Saturday I woke up for an hour.
I agree. I personally can't stand it when people do this ish in front of me. Joe held it together well considering the confined space, volume, and his own hot head. It's transparent tough-guy bravado with a captive audience and it's gross. I love Jim, feel his pain from the story, but still, this is insane and rude especially while they're mic'ed. In the end, you are screaming at the wrong person and you probably didn't even yell that loud when you wanted to, so quit your bs and maybe smoke more weed than you do.
Love his honesty about weed having suffered the exact sad moment with cannabis and still to this day but yeh just cool to hear some one else talk about the sad loss of weed not being like it use to be RESPECT THE BUD as taught in Jamaica 🛒👍🇬🇧❤️😎👌
You also keep getting the daily notifications that Spotify has deemed old episodes now acceptable to watch again? Are there any seriously die hard fans who have put in the effort to see if anything has been edited out of these "new" episodes?
