Kanan Jarrus was living proof that Attachment was not inherently bad. We even witness as much with characters such as Ezra Bridger, and how his attachment to Lothal lead to its liberation from the Empire.
"Attachment" as Word of Lucas defined it was never about not loving people or things, it was always about jealously and possessively holding onto things. Think the difference between Anakin being willing to burn down the galaxy just for the *possibility* of saving Padme from a death that *might* have happened and Ezra giving up the chance to be with his parents again for the sake of the galaxy. It's basically the exact same temptation but because Anakin was "attached" to Padme (i.e. couldn't let go of her, couldn't stop clinging to her, couldn't accept the possibility of losing her) he Fell, whereas Ezra let go, in spite of how much it personally hurt him, and thereby saved everyone.
And ahsoka showed it too, how much she cared about all her friends and innocent people, proves that those 3 were great Jedi and force users that can have attachments and show affection
Agreed. It has a lot of filler and it’s flaws, but when it gets it right it knocks it out of the park. There are so many good story arcs over the course of the show. One of my favorite arcs is Sabeen with the dark saber.
@@madelinegarber7860 Rebels has very little filler, because it was planned from the beginning. Details in previous episodes that might not seem important at the time turn up again in later episodes and really impact the story. It was planned from the start to be four seasons, and in retrospect almost every episode points toward the finale. It was very well done.
Kanan proved that attachment is not solely a path to the dark side. Anakin loved selfishly, nothing was too great a cost to sacrifice to cling on to what he loved. Kanan Selflessly loved not clinging to those he loved but just wishing to guide and protect them through his own means, not sacrificing others to do so.
When you talked Kanan and his destiny being on Lothal it immediately reminded that based on the hieroglyphs on the wall during Kindred Spirits, plus Filoni’s and Freddy’s hints. Kanan was actually born on Lothal, but was taken by the Jedi shortly after that. Which only further deepens his and Ezra’s outstanding bonded then it already was. Knowing that the reason _why_ Kanan kept coming back to Lothal not only because of Ezra, not only because of Hera but also because that too is his home even if he never realized it. Adding on, something I feel a lot of people don’t talk about is when Kanan is about to die and he’s given his eye sight back he not only sees Hera, but he also sees Ezra. Hera and Ezra are both within the same frame as they watch him make this sacrifice, meaning that Kanan is seeing them both. His wife and his surrogate son, the two most important people in this life, one last time. One of the devs plus Filoni explained the reason why Kanan gained his sight back and that was simply _Clarity_ Kanan is at more one with the Force when he’s holding back that explosion then he’s ever been before. He’s sacrificing himself for his family and the Force gives him back his sight. As a gift. Kanan is just such an outstanding and amazing character and I will forever mourn his death. 😭🥺
@@emeraldcity789 on the scene when the Bendu gets angry at Kanan and says to him "perhaps it was the will of the force that the jedi be destroyed" that really stuck in my mind. The prequel jedi were caught up in their dogmatic views and hubris that they had essentially abandoned what the jedi were supposed to be. And whenever there were jedi who spoke out on this they either died like Qui Gon, cast out like Ahsoka, or fell to the dark side like Count Dooku and Anakin.
Canaan's death was the most powerful and heartbre ak scene I have ever seen in Star Wars. It hits me so hard I cry every time I watch. According to Canon he was born on coruscant but he was definitely a surrogate father to Ezra. And his journey from Padawan in exile to loving master sacrificing himself for his family and the people of Lothal Make him more of a complete Jedi night than any we've seen on screen. And that includes Luke Skywalker, mostly because his character was ruined by Rion Johnson in TLJ.
@@JenniferKokoski actually it’s implied by Freddie and the hieroglyphs on the wall that Kanan was born on Lothal, but he was raised on Coruscant. It’s why the Loth Wolves connect with him so much not only cuz of the Wolf Dume but also cuz he’s connected to the planet in the same way as Ezra is. It’s also why he always kept on coming back to Lothal, he was drawn to it cuz he was born there. It also explained why Ezra and Kanan formed such a strong connection to one another compared to other traditional Jedi and Padawans, not only did the Force bring them together but also cuz they are from the same planet so that makes their connection even stronger.
Qui Gon was really ahead of his time. If he was allowed to continue his work and train Anakin the Jedi may have reformed without Order 66 and the galaxy would have been spared from the dark times but non the less All the teachings of Qui Gon echo in Kanan, Ahsoka and all the other True Jedi so it Wasn’t for nothing
In the documentary about the making of the Mandalorian, Dave Filoni pointed out that in calling the music for the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan/Maul fight "the Duel of the Fates", it shows that the duel is to determine Anakin's "fate". And when Qui-Gon dies, Anakin's "fate" is sealed. Because Obi-Wan only takes him on as a padewan as an obligation. He later comes to try and relate to him as a brother.
The Jedi should have sent Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Sassi Tiin, and that other guy to fight Darth Maul. It’s not like they were doing anything else at the time. Even if Maul didn’t show up (or fled) they still liberate Naboo.
Now that we know Ezra and Sabine are returning for the Ahsoka series, I fully believe Ezra is going to be the one to train Grogu. They already have a connection through Ahsoka, and both Ahsoka and Luke didn’t train Grogu because of his attachments. But Ezra’s whole arc is about his attachments making him a better person and Jedi, as taught by Kanan.
Honestly the fact that Ahsoka DIDN'T suggest calling the ghost crew in the first place was the thing that pissed me off watching that episode, like HELLO? They've literally already had a jedi/mando family just fine
@@thegoldman25 you suck I want to stop lying rey power come out nowhere in i you stop lying cause it better live a lie than tell the truth guy with no friends
5:30 Season 1 - Episode 15 proves everything you said about Kanan's insecurities about training Ezra. As the Grand Inquisitor fake kills Ezra, Kanan says: That was a mistake. Grand Inq: Why? Because you have no one left to die for you? Kanan: No. Because I have nothing left to fear.
as an adult, rebels as a whole is a beautiful show, writing, characters, music, animation style, and the big arcs over a few seasons is great. Filoni and Co are wonderful story tellers
Not that Star Wars needs to be dark and dreary all the time. But this show really could have benefited from Streaming day one. I love the first season. But I just think of the possibilities if minds like Tim Minar or Joss Weadon. I just with it wasn’t so E for everyone with the action. And more Kanera is never a problem. Also I’m a big Kallus fan. There could have been more opportunities to fresh out his motivations.
I feel like it was to ig child orientated and Ezra really ruined a lot of the show. Kanen should’ve been the MC imo and Ezra would’ve done well as side character or maybe not even a character at all
I started rewatching rebels again the other day and recently just finished the luminara episode. It really hit me hard because Kanan thinks he isnt the right master for Ezra but in reality he is the PERFECT master for him.
Man. look. I am a HUGE fan of Star Wars. I live and breathe this franchise. I have watched tons and tons of SW videos, fan fiction on YT etc. But this video, it always gets me. It is THE BEST Star Wars video I have ever seen. The music selection, the narration, your voice. They hit a spot in my heart, and make me emotional. You did an outstanding job on a character that I, thanks to your video, now value more than ever before. THANK you so much for making this!
I agree, I haven't even watched Rebels or finished TCW but watching these videos on characters from Rebels, Kanan (Caleb) made me cry. Beautiful work on this video.
When I was watching Rebels and it’s finale, I truly and hard fully cried when I saw Kannan died😭!!! But I was surprised to see his Force Ghost, his son, and later when I was watching Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, I was shocked to hear his voice while he and other Jedis were vocally encouraging Rey to a stand at Emperor Palpatine.
Had he lived, Kanan would have been a perfect choice for the new Grandmaster of the Order. He slew the Grand Inquisitor, has Yoda's approval, has already mentored one Jedi to Knighthood in Ezra, Ahsoka liked him, he had a family and lived amongst the regular people of the galaxy, and was part of the early era of the Rebellion. And had Luke shown up and met him, Luke would have latched onto Kanan and been trained by him very quickly. And Jacen would have grown up with his father in his life. No one else would have had his resume and street cred. Now, no one else does. Luke's training was more limited than Ezra's or Kanan's. Ahsoka quit when she was a student. K'kruhk or Kestis were not a part of the Rebellion so far as we know. Are they going to wake up Ood Banar and have him run the show? Are they bringing K'kruhk or Ood Banar back into canon? The Jedi, as of Feloniverse canon, are poised for a Sectarian crisis. Ahsoka is ironically the new Orthodox wing but Ezra and Luke are the new Reformed one.
Dude I'm saying the exact same thing. He's literally the perfect jedi. In some ways he's even wiser than master yoda. Plus he's extremely humble. And understands the benefit of love and family.
After several re-watches, I realized that Kanan healed himself in the last moments to keep his word to Hera. Before he went to Malachor, he promises Hera they will see each other again. He's blinded and can't see her after that, not until moments before his death.
The more moving scene was episodes before when he confessed wishing he could see her. She removes his blinders and tells him lovingly that he's always been able to see her. I didn't catch Canaan getting his eyesight back on my original watch. I was crying too much at the time. I think it's pretty clear that the force gives him back his sight. It's a gift to a very special Jedi knight he be able to see his family one One last time before he leaves them. (Not that I believe the Star Wars lore that when one dies their spirit disappears. That's just nonsense. Life never really dies. It just transcends. As we saw when Kanan appeared as the loth wolf. I hope we see his spirit someday watching over or interacting with his son. A great reminder that Hera had this beautiful love at one time in a state of war and from that came a family.)
I agree. I think when he decided to sacrifice himself to save his loved ones that he put all his faith and trust in the force that with it he would be able to save them. By doing that he became more entuned with the force than ever before and that brought clarity and understanding that through the force all the things that he once thought where impossible or maybe out of reach for him were actually well within his power. That allowed him to wield the force with such mastery to simultaneously put up a force field, slow down the time for the explosion, force grab Hera to stop her, then force push her onto the ship, force heal his own eyes so he could see his loved ones one last time, then finally doing a massive force push on the entire ship to launch it out of the blast range. This is a HUGE feat cuz usually a force user has to fully concentrate to use one force power and we've never seen anyone do so many different things with the force at one time!
Kanan was so perfect because he was so flawed. He did face so much fear and even ran from it for awhile (something myself and most people can relate to). But eventually he found that he had something worth staying and fighting for. He didn't always follow the rules perfectly and was sometimes wrong, but he fought the good fight. And Jedi Night is forever one of the most heart wrenching moments in Star Wars.
Kanan Jarrus is one of the greatest embodiments of what a real jedi is. I know attachments were forbidden but holy crap this is what made his character and arc so much better. A kind, protective, supportive family man in a way. I know not a lot of people liked rebels early on but he was one of the most consistently great things about this show and as the show got better so did he
In stuffing down their emotions, and refusing any attachment, the Jedi showed how controlled by the very thing they were trying to run from, being fear. Kanan is not a Jedi because he has chosen this as well, but because he has made the harder choice; to recognize the inevitable truth that we all fear, love, and attach. He doesn't run from it. He recognizes, and rises above it. And ironically, his love for those around him, the thing so often cried out against by the order, is what made him such a great Jedi.
That's a caricature. The Jedi aren't anti-emotion and attachment isn't a necessary part of emotion. For example, love without attachment (which is possession) was always a known possibility. Further, fear is a proper biological response to danger. Proper biological responses don't control, so the Jedi can't be controlled by a fear of attachments. The fear that leads to the dark side is fabricated fear.
This was beautiful and it sums up why I named my 3 week old son Ezra. Kanan's and Ezra's story is so powerful and moved me so much. I am a 6'1" bodybuilder, but to my son I will always need to be a jedi like Kanan 🥺. This video brought me tears, thank you.
Now that the Ahsoka series is coming out soon, we'll be seeing more on the ghost crew. I can't wait! Also wanted to mention the Mandolorian "Jaig eyes" worn on his blindfold, which in Mandolorian culture symbolize a high rank and loyalty, like with captain Rex's helmet.
My family and I are huge Rebels fans, and we were devastated, and deeply moved, by the death of Kanan. To us he represents all this is best about the Jedi, including and especially his selflessness.
I agree with everything you said in this video. I have thought about Kanan a lot. I think it is fair to say that he is my most favorite Star Wars character ever. (I have seen all the movies and TV shows. I have not read any books except A New Dawn and I'm not a gamer.) Kanan's growth and development over the seasons was incredible! I agree that he does embody the best of what the Jedi should be. Not because he is the strongest with the Force nor because he is the best lightsaber duelist but because he was selfless and he identified and overcame his fears w/o becoming arrogant, detached or judgmental. And yes, his death was overwhelmingly tragic.
LMFAO he's your favorite????????? Your a trash SW fan then idc how tuff that sounds you are a disgrace to us true fans who like characters who are actually interesting and important
Amazing video Gold Man. Kanan and the show are truly unique within the Star Wars universe. His and Ezra’s relationship is my favourite master and apprentice relationship in Star Wars 👌🏾👌🏾
i just finished Rebels last week and i definitely feel like we didnt get enough time with kanan, the growth the doubt and insecurities, i didnt expect to like him starting out but he became one of my favorite stories in the star wars universe, he was probably the most relatable Jedi and how he handled things and dealt with things you could just see yourself in his shoes which made his departure even worse, absolutely gonna give this series another watch to see his beautiful story arc again.
Kanan's sacrifice hit me hard in the heart region... His last act was to protect his family and as a single parent believe me, I CAN RELATE... As Superman once said, " Ahero must always be ready to make the ultimate sacrifice "
Order 66 made the Jedi reflect and connect with the beings in the galaxy allowing the new generation to grow beyond the mistakes of the Jedi of old. The Jedi during the prequels were in their high towers while the new Jedi lived among the beings they swore to protect
I realy like passage from Revange od Sith (novelization), When Joda finaly realized, he did not have what it takes to best Palpatine, that he never had it, that he lost that final battle before he was even born,... Since meanwhile Jedi was preparing to fight last war over again, Sith evolved.
Yes.... Kanan was the best Jedi... 💔💔💔 And they killed him 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 It totally broke me. It broke my heart. It took my heart away from me 💔💔💔 He.... Didn't deserved to die.. they could have resurrected him 💔💔💔💔 it's just.... The unimaginable 😭😭😭😭
I just discovered Star Wars rebels this summer. The relationship between all the characters is reminiscent of the original trilogy. I remember being a little kid and watching princess Leia, Farmer Luke and Pirate Han Solo battle the evil empire in a space fairy tale and being completely enamored. The character of Kanaan jarus is my favorite of the Jedis. When Lucas released the prequel trilogy and the Jedi Order had this stupid rule against forming attachments I knew it was bullshit. No way could anyone maintain and balance with their own emotions if they weren't allowed to feel. I loved how kanan and Hera were the mom and dad of the ghost crew. Their last scenes together before he died were filled with so much love and hope for the future. When Kane and dies it broke me. I've never felt so much pain at a Star Wars death. I literally cried. Now I've enjoyed Star Wars all my life. Return of the Jedi was my favorite of all the movies cuz of those last battles. How good finally triumphs over evil. Love and friendship are more powerful than the force.
There is enough reason to believe that Obi Ean knew that Anakin was in a relationship with Padme. In season 7, he overhears a conversation that the two are hearing where they express their love for one another and all Obi Wan says is 'tell Padme I said hi'. Anakin gives him a look and then they walk away from each other. I would personally lump Obi Wan with the surviving Jedi, as he isn't as Orthodox as his colleagues within the order.
Obi-Wan knew. Its written in the book Revenge of the Sith novelization. ----------------- “Senator--Padmé. Please.” He gazed into her eyes with nothing on his face but compassion and fatigued anxiety. “I am not blind, Padmé. Though I have tried to be, for Anakin’s sake. And for yours.” “What do you mean?” “Neither of you is very good at hiding feelings, either.” “Obi-Wan--” “Anakin has loved you since the day you met, in that horrible junk shop on Tatooine. He’s never even tried to hide it, though we do not speak of it. We . . . pretend that I don’t know. And I was happy to, because it made him happy. You made him happy, when nothing else ever truly could.” He sighed, his brows drawing together. “And you, Padmé, skilled as you are on the Senate floor, cannot hide the light that comes to your eyes when anyone so much as mentions his name.”
Half through video and I agree with pretty much everything (even though when watching rebels I give it a tiny bit less thought) Happy 100th video Thrawn, Kanan and Kallus are my favourites from rebels in order (although the more I watch your video kana could overtake Thrawn, my mind could also change if Thrawn is used more in the Ahsoka show)
Also I love the affection between Kanan and Ezra. They hug and speak warmly to each other. They comfort each other in dark times. A beautiful mentor/mentee bond.
Kanan was a great master and the best father i didnt have in a very long time. Im going to show everyone what he taught me. And hopefully my own apprentice.
Not enough people talk about how perfect Kanan's knighting scene is. Go back and rewatch it, once you know whats happening it all takes on a double meaning. Kanan fights "Is this the limit of your knowledge?" "I learned enough!" "I think not". Kanan reaches for a second sabre - its red, and the fight becomes more difficult as more guards show up. Kanan STOPS fighting, accepts he has done the best he can and is knighted. Something disney gets right consistently I think are what I term 'Peak Jedi' moments, which almost always involve the jedi putting aside their weapons, because you don't reach Peak jedi by hitting something with a glowing stick as hard as you can.
I love Kanan's Zen Buddhist decision to "set the blade down". He lived a life where he was able to experience the complete spectrum of human experiences, gain a deep understanding of the universal nature of fear, and transcends them. My favorite quality of Kanan is how he still chooses to raises and encourages Ezra to be kind and compassionate despite both of them understanding the reality of living in a cruel world. It reminds me of the inscription tomb of the ultimate swordman, Dugi Qiubai, in the classic "Return of the Condor Heroes": - The first sword (present): "My first sword was so sharp, strong and fierce that none could withstand it. With it in hand, I strive for mastery by challenging all the heroes of the Northern Plains in my teenage years." - The second sword (not present, represented by a wooden tablet): "My second sword was violet in hue and flexible in motion. I used it in my 20s. With it, I have mistakenly wounded righteous men. It turned out to be a weapon of doom that caused me to feel remorse endlessly. I cast it into a deep canyon." - The third sword (present)"My third sword was heavy and blunt. The uttermost cunning is based on simplicity. With it, I roamed all lands under Heaven unopposed in my 30s." - The fourth sword (represented by a wooden sword): "After the age of 40, I was no longer hampered by any weapon. Grass, trees, bamboos and rocks can all be my swords. Since then, I have developed my skills further, such that gradually I can win battles without reaching for weapons." There's a similar scene at the end of Hero where the Qin King gazes at the calligraphy and realizes the height of swordsmanship: (Qin King to Nameless): "I have just come to a realization! This scroll by Broken Sword contains to secret to his swordsmanship. What it reveals is his highest ideal." "In the first stage, man and sword become one. Here, even a blade of grass can become a lethal weapon." "In the next stage, the sword resides not in the hand, but in the heart. Even without a weapon, a warrior can slay his enemy from a hundred paces!" "But...the ultimate ideal is when the sword disappears altogether. The warrior embraces all around him." "The desire to kill no longer exists. Only peace remains."
youre right. look i hate the st but disney has made good stuff. i love rebels not as much as TCW but i love it and will defend it.Kanan is an awesome character who was a true jedi. he is a role model we can learn from
Kanan is one of the best Jedi and one of the best Star Wars characters, really hope his story won’t be over after rebels and he can somehow someway return to his friends and family
@@thegoldman25 maybe but maybe not, what if there could be a chance that ahsoka could have saved kanan after learning about his fate early by heading to lothol in secret after she found answers on malachore or one of the hidden Jedi worlds and she uses the force to protect kanan from the explosion but fake his death until the empire falls
For some reason and totally unexpectedly this jedi became my favorite. I don't count Rey or those films as legit star wars. The Sequel Trilogy came from people that seem to be nonfans of star wars but people that needed a franchise to leech off of, to sell their crappy storytelling and directing (mostly rian johnson falls into that description). I think Favreau and Filoni are good guys and true fans though. They add to star wars, not destroy or take away anything.
I hope in the Ahsoka Series i will continue what after happens to Mandalorian Sabine Ren After the Purge and maybe meet The current Dark Saber Holder Din Djarin to finally have he blessing to become the new mandalorian and create a new mandaloria as well as set up Ahsoka for the probably search they will do for Ezra hope Ezra has now a ne colored lightsaber
Yes! Exactly! Right down to the matching poses, this is what I think and feel about the story of Kanan and Ezra in Rebels. Excellent job! Good to see someone speaking so well on behalf of this series that I love so much. Thank you!
I see others sharing the same belief as I do, that kanan would have become the Grandmaster of the newly formed Jedi council. His understanding of the force and experience are unmatched by all others at the conclusion of the empires rule. He is also extremely wise, with teachings from both the former Jedi order as well as the Bendu.
Kanan’s death is still the most powerful moment in all of Star Wars, nothing else has actually hurt me as much as that moment That’s why I wish we had more content like Rebels, it’s just peak. If Rey goes on a path of exploring the mysteries of the galaxy then that would be awesome, a much older Ezra tagging along would be very cool as well
In my opinion when it domes to love for the Jedi what makes it bad and turns them to the dark side is not being able to discuss it with other and get help, cause anakin wasn’t really able to get help with the dream he had since he had to hide it, cause that fear to stack up and allow the Vader in anakin to mentally overthrow anakin almost completely
Not sure if you're ever gonna see this but I have a supporting argument for the comparison of anakin and padme's love versus that of kanan and hera's, that being that beyond just being forbidden, padme and anakin clearly weren't right for each other. Anakin was possesive, didnt trust padme, and padme was always rushing headlong into danger and stressing out the worried anakin. They fight and argue a lot throughout the clone wars.
I like how Kanan was knighted in the Jedi temple, but i never liked how the canon did the knights trials. So here are the knights trials that were depicted as legends. As a fun note I decided to use the canon trials for the Master trials cuz it seemed more appropriate . Kanan Jarrus (Caleb Dune): Jedi Knight Trial of Skill: Defeating the Grand Inquisitor Trial of Courage: Reveal himself as a Jedi to the Empire Trial of the Flesh: Surviving Order 66/Surviving Imperial Torture Trial of Insight: Disguising himself as an Imperial to report Count Vidian to stop a planet's destruction (A New Dawn novel) Trial of the Spirit: Learning to trust Ezra in his Lothal Temple Vision Jedi Master: Isolation: Closing himself of to his friends and the Force when he was blinded Fear: When he lost his sight he gives into fear Anger: He is anger with himself when he losses his sight Betrayal: Being betrayed by Darth Maul Teamwork: Working with the Rebels Focus: Regains his sight with the Force Instinct: Trust the Loth Wolves to lead him to his destiny Forgiveness: Forgives Kallus and let's him join the Rebellion Protection: Protects Ezra and Hera from a explosion
Filoni uses a lot of biblical allusion. You have the name Kanan (Cannan) like you mentioned but he also has a Saul of Tarsus transformation. He loses sight, has a supernatural experience and becomes Caleb Dume like how Saul was blinded, had a supernatural experience and then started a new path as Paul.
An interesting thought I've obtained recently, was that after the events of Return Of The Jedi, there are no living Jedi. Of course, Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin all become force ghosts, but there are no LIVING Jedi Knights OR Jedi Masters. Now I know what you're thinking: What about Luke, Leia, Kanan, Ezra, Ahsoka, Cere, Cal, Quinlan? Well, let me present my argument. Luke: Luke never finished his training, even though he might have continued it offscreen, but we don't see him being Knighted or ever referred to as a Knight. Leia: Leia never became a fully fledged Jedi Knight; she stopped her training under Luke around probably 5 years after ROTJ. Kanan: Kanan was knighted during a Force Vision in the Jedi Temple on Lothal. It appears to me that being Knighted by THE FORCE ITSELF kind of surpasses Jedi and becomes, for lack of a better term, an "Avatar of The Force". This theory is supported by the fact that Kanan doesn't become a Force Ghost when he dies, he actually reincarnates as a Lothwolf. Ezra: Ezra never had the chance to be knighted, because he sacrificed himself to space-whales to defeat Thrawn. Ahsoka: Ahsoka left the Jedi Order before she ever became a Jedi. Cere: Cere is a self-described "Non-Jedi" Cal: Cal was knighted by Cere, who is not a Jedi. Therefore, does not have the right to Knight people. Quinlan: From what I know, Quinlan Vos turned to the Dark Side about 10-15 years after Order 66, therefore, he is no longer a Jedi. This entire ramble is supported by -NordVPN- I mean the fact that the way a person is Knighted is with the saying "By the right of the Council; By the will of the Force; Rise, (name), Jedi Knight." Now if the qualifications to be considered a Jedi is knighting by the council, once the council no longer exists, no Jedi can be knighted.
Ive battled some demons lately and I watched Star Wars Rebels from the beginning. I saw the episode where Kanan and Ezra visit the Jedi temple of Lothal for the first time and I cried when they were facing their fears, it resonated so much with me and it was able to release my anxiety and stress. Thank you so much for this video, Kanan is truly the character who I mostly identify. As I'm a young adult concerned with being able to face my fears and protect those who I love. Thanks to Dave and of course, George Lucas for this marvelous universe. Thank you
You know honestly this video sparked my love for rebels again, I was a child when I first saw it as it aired (weird to think in the not so distant future it will be 10 years) but I really enjoyed it, but whenever I looked back on it I just remember all the terrible jokes and Ezra being a brat, and it soiled my memories of the show I loved, but rewatching this I start to remember why I loved it so much and saw it as a good successor to the clone wars as a kid, thanks for that man. Im probably gonna rewatch it at some point now.
dude this video had me crying bro truly a work of art. I want to start making videos like these but i dont even know where to start. thank you for the motivation
It's a shame they killed off his character, I read a fanfic in which Ezra decides to go back to the world between worlds and he rescues Kanan. This is after he is rescued by Ahsoka and Sabine some 5 years after he disappeared. Plausible scenario since Ezra would even be stronger in the force and more capable of rescuing Kanan. The reunions brought out in that fanfic were really good especially when he really gets to meet his son and reunite with Hera. Not a totally impossible idea but one I doubt Lucasfilm would ever do. All they seem to see is one tragedy after another but if they bring back Maul from the dead why not Kanan?
I get where you're coming from, but Kanan's death had tremendous impact. He sacrificed himself for the love of his life and his family, bringing him back would completely undo that. Mauls death did not have that impact so it doesn't bother me
I have to say Kanan was truly a Jedi I also wanna say some other Jedi as well Plo-Koon and Qui-Gon would also fall into this category if you look at it I also say Yoda and Obi wan but only after they've exiled themselves do they become true jedi
Can we PLEASE keep getting these kinda vids? Looking at characters (especially those that are not mainstream) and analyzing their overall importance and journey? Like Rex, Cal (once we get the next game I guess), The Bad Batch (either as a crew or each individual, also once we get more content from them) and just even more. I’d also love to hear your ideas for what Rey does post TRoS. How she goes about the Jedi life, if she seeks out anyone to help her along her way, if she even wants to attempt building her own order or if she wants to adopt something like the rule of two where she takes on an apprentice after traveling and helping out across the galaxy, then travel around and help out together and train the apprentice to adopt her traveling heroic path and let the cycle live on. I only just now, while typing this comment in fact, came up with this possible lifestyle but I think the cycle would look like this: 1 Jedi travels the galaxy and helps out by doing good, the Jedi will eventually find a force sensitive individual to train in their ways of the traveling Jedi, they spend the rest of their life helping the galaxy as a pair, and when the master passes on to the force then the apprentice becomes the master and they repeat the cycle. Now I can easily see how this could end in the Sith returning if the apprentice turns out to be too involved in the path to the Darkside but I think the writers of such a story could write up a way that prevents this, like perhaps the master must search far and wide for the most pure force sensitive, and maybe they have many ways to test this purity and maybe even have it where the master seeks out their equal in the force, they must make a dyad in order to adopt the apprentice so that they are connected on a deeper level than just friendship. Maybe the dyad connection will keep the cycle pure. Thoughts, anyone?
You mentioned so many ideas I would love to explore! I actually made a video about what I want Rey to do post TROS, it’s a 40 minutes video titled something like “my pitch for an animated Star Wars series”, check it out!
This is amazing REBELS NEEDS MORE LOVE. I literaly thought Lukes hallway scene in the mandalorian was Ezra showing up and the purgils in the newest episode made me freak out thinking it was Ezra.
Kanan is a great jedi, my 3rd favorite jedi in Star Wars, Kanan is the living proof of what a jedi must be, attachments aren't a weakness, and Kanan is a true jedi .
If only obi wan understood for anakin what kannan did for Ezra, that he wasn't eligible to train anakin. This whole debacle could be avoided. He should have led Yoda train him. I wish we could see kannan meet Luke. I wanted him to be alive, happy and become master of the new jedi order.
At first I didn't really like him but man I was so wrong. Rebels is by far the best animated series I've watched and one of the best star wars stories. I hope that the Ashoka series will give us more from the rebels.
you have the: first Jedi (per old republic + time on Tython) old Jedi (old/high republic) ruff time, started to loss their way fallen Jedi (prequels and high republic) ruff time Surviving Jedi (order 66 survives + OG) ruff time the new Jedi (OG and sequels) ruff time i would argue that the new Jedi are closer to the first and Old Jedi, its almost like a cycle get lost and return, this is a simplification because of how long the old/high republic era is.
