It's why the development cycle is likely as long as the first. Improvement of assets, expansion of the world map with the timeline rewind to the past, and running on Unreal Engine for a hopefully more stable core that once plagued in the engine built on Ogre framework. Let them cook considering they have done it in the right direction and want to improve the flaws.
@@Aeretothat said, many mods fix that engine. i play the game almost flawless with ehh 15ish mods.. others were able to fill in gaps pretty good. reduce lag and so on. but yes i feel dev will learn from his mistakes. build upon what didnt work, and what did.
It looks good already, it's just not next-gen level. If you disagree with me, you definitely haven't seen Ashlands or Shem. It's really beautiful places
This games keeps on giving, if you have played it to death, wait 6 months and it will suck you back in time and time again, its the flaws that makes this one shine so well, good vid well done
I support and bought this game when it was still in development. At that time I was an old fashioned guy who didn't trust online currency payment, everything I purchased was strictly cash. Had to borrow my brother's credit card for it. I put my trust in the developer because although he was solo at that time making this game, he was even willing to work part time jobs to make ends meet. That music for the game, it was the first time he outsourced a professional to compose it. It has been a long time. I guess the first ever game I supported is my pride and joy.
Kenshi for beginners is like life for beginners. You suck at everything you've never done before, but with practice you can master any skill or ability you desire. The first time you tried to walk you fell on your ass. Did you spend the rest of your life on the floor? No! You got up and practiced walking until you could walk and run and leap and back-hand spring. KENSHI!
Dude this vid is too good for a channel with only 70 subs so let’s make that 71 also thanks to you I’m more inspired on improving on my last kenshi vid
Wow the part of the video where you offered to listen to the music was a really great idea. I never really "listened" to the music and after really "listening" to it with closed eyes I truly understand how good it is. Great idea!
man, I remember the days wheren there was five cities, paladins carried the only backpack with no stat maluses, and the only way to safely train was to join fighting alongside city guards. Mr. Floppy's Flophouse was a good franchise.
My go to temporary gaming obsession. I don't play the game for months, sometimes a year, but then it pulls me back again. I've installed about 50mods from the workshop and after finally getting the game to run... It's a blast, man. Love this game, excited for Kenshi 2, I just hope to play it in my lifetime.
Man you make me want to go back to my one and only save, I left the beginning of a huge cactus rum empire in the desert all abandoned when the logistics started feeling like too much work
I'm on my second run (First one was my 'How to play' experience). It's been a lot of fun learning how to cheese the games mechanics and build my squad into a death patrol. I settled in Gut and my citizenry exclusively dine on Beakthing meat. Weirdly my base wall ended up with a tiny crack in it just big enough for a person to slip out, but too small for any animals. I'll have to address it at some point, but currently no factions bother me. Probably due to the three nests surrounding my base.
Kenshi has taught me that I am not the hero, I am not the main character, I am not a special boy whom everyone loves and admires. I am no one and no one cares about me. It's beautiful. Also, yes, Beep is obviously best boy, but Ray is underrated. Sure Ray is a cheap slave that literally cannot talk, and so you can't even buy goods with him; but he's carried my unconscious character past Skeleton men, metal spiders, and Southern Hivers, all the way to safety in Catun where they rested for 3 days after almost being eaten alive by roaming Beakthings and 1 angry Gorillo. Why he saved his new master instead of just running away? I'll never know, he doesn't say a word. But Ray is loyal.
my current save is really cool, I'm playing a more european style merc with the unholy chest plate, longsword, and chain mail with a chain hood. So far I've given myself an Edgewalkers Longsword so that I can do my own spin on the holy blade start. Since I've lost my leg to cannibals I am now homies with the floatsom ninja instead of the holy nation.
Kenshi is a beautiful game, I personally have around 450 hours ingame. The single thing I never enjoyed was , once youre a pro and you undersatnd the logic of that amazing world, you spent literally 2 hours of your time with every new character into workout and making them a little less useless.
Music giving "goose-bumps" on the skin. Gameplay being as harsh as ever. World being even better whence all of the lore-dumps fit together... Damn it all, 'cuz I've already played demo from 2012 for hours and hours on the end, gotta go to job to earn some dough for full release and the second one, not forgetting 'bout new steel to handle it, watched hours upon hours of content with it... And still I could've talked about it forever... But the most important thing is the resolve, THE STORY of Chris living his own Kenshi irl just to release it ... TBH y'all have to check it out! Without it, we all just seeing the half of it - yes, even with the mods included in the summary. Nothing beats the man having his own stall on E3 (or other event, idk I live in a cave) all by himself. He got nutts of steel.
wanted to finish the Cyberpunk DLC, but I went back to Kenshi.. Tried Starfield, went back to Kenshi. Bored with any game? Kenshi. It's my favorite game by far, but I wouldn't say it's perfect by any stretch ; ). Giddy for the sequel. good vid.
Kenshi while it has flaws and issues it is a great game with the whole story and theme behind it. The fact for a long time it was made by one person and later developed (formed into it's last shape) with a small team makes this an excellent achievement. The modding for this game is great and while the engine is not the best for this specific trick but usable and to this day new mods emerge even I created some for myself from scratch. It is good for learning to make things too because you have a lot of options which translated in the forgotten construct well so you can trial and error better. The second game will be interesting too and hopefully the engine will not limits you because the unreal using blue print system which makes it different than what I used to it. If they do not add modern day issues into the game and they following the path of Kenshi with story telling and characters then the game will be very great. I am wondering why no one tried to make a similar game yet, there is only few games with some similar aspects but either not marketinged high due indies and limited budget or just flawed games. I have almost 3500 hour but this year may I get the 5k. I like to play it and I like to mod it just as how I like Starsector which is also a niche but great game. All the time I start over the end result is different also the mods keeping this experience fresh.
I have put more than a thousand hours in this amazing game. I love it because it does not hold your hand. You get thrown in a big harsh world and you have to decide what you do there. Not many games offer this much freedom. Great video for a masterpiece of a game.
i think kenshi is the only game ive bought since like gmod, both of which ive had a shit ton of fun with definetly worth the money, just wish ikenshi could be multiplayer and have some type of mounts, but we have kenshi 2 coming so maybe, if not mayeb they will have better mod support cause its not a 20 year old or something game engine kinda want to play wow but in the style of kenshi now for some reason, maybe its the mounts
i love what happens when you free all the slaves, really shows that no faction is really a good option for the world, yeah the anti slavers are virtuous and just, and absolutely fighting for the right thing, but they dont have the economic strength and leadership capabilities the UC and HN have, the world is so ravaged by the last two empires and by recent history that society is nearly entirely incapable of actually existing without a ton of people in chains, so when they win, theres no game plan, all the slaves are free, thats good, but now theres little to no labor force, nobodies working the mines, farming has dropped drastically, all the oppressive militaries that were previously keeping all the violent opportunistic bandits at bay dont have a country to serve or any legitimate way to make money anymore, the slaves are gutter food, the farmers are starving, the shopkeepers are begging, and the soldiers are all bandits, so what now?
These flaws are not features. Bad game performance across the board (insane loading times) Base building is a exercise in tedium. The game crashes, bugs out and you can lose 30mins if not hours of progress unless you are vigilant with saving Base Management is terrible there are many bugs ( such as when you load a game all your men end up in the wall down the bottom or outside, and you have to manually correct it each time) Even with all these major flaws, the game is still worth playing.
i played kenshi, i liked it, but i honestly would rate it 6.5/10 there just is to much left to desire, when it comes to depth of gameplay or general world interaction. (not even talking about bugs, i leave those out completly) the fact that you cant even kill someone when he is downed, is so annoying. a world build around slaves and yet you cant do something like organ harvesting.. the world is insanly big and takes at 30mph like 20-30? min to cross on x3 speed, why is there no other way of transportation? at 30mph no one will catch up to you anyway, which means you are perfectly safe anyway and once you have discovered a place, there is no reason to get back to it ever again why do mechanical races need to train skills? is a metal leg gonna increase in strength?? if the dev wasnt lazy, he could ve made this an entire different skillsystem, which would make robots feel more unique as just having to repair stuff once in a while the base attacks start out way to overwhelming, for no reason. rimworld has a way better scaling mechanism, rimworld also has the overall more complex gameplay, if kenshi wasnt 3D it would just be another lesser version of rimworld (or dwarf fortress)
I was really interested in Kenshi so I watched an extensive gameplay series (The Life of Jeff) to see what it was like. What I saw was equal parts 'great' and 'absolute crap'. The series was incredibly entertaining but there was no way to disguise the fact that the game is bug infested and has one of the worst interfaces ever created. It made me sad to see so much potential destroyed by developer incompetence.
Kenshi 2 next year, plus they suddenly started patching kenshi 1 as i said in the vid so maybe it'll get cleaned up even more. (edit this may be untrue)
