It is pretty amusing in the story how Harren the Black essentially enslaved the Riverlands to build his castle. So when Aegon went out to attack Harren he called upon the Riverlords to defend him they instead rallied around the Tullys who then sided with Aegon lol
A slight correction: You got the order wrong. The Tullys sided with Aegon, then the other riverlords followed. Because House Tully was the first to support the Targaryens, it became the leader of the riverlords.
Well it makes sense and he had dragons but the thing is her and hell was built with black stone and perhaps the same black stone that valyria is made with but how did he knew is a good question unfortunately he died with the knowledge But luckily For aegon all he has to do is bring the blackest night dragon and breathe black fire upon heron Hall not only would he destroy the castle but he will do so without getting a scratch
@@thomasdaywalt7735 That is not the blackstone of Valyria, it’s charred black because of the dragonfire. Stories even say that stone melted with Harren’s family inside. The only blackstone within Westeros would be the Hightower of Oldtown which existed long before the Andals crossed the Narrow sea. That is a much bigger question.
@@tiringsarcasm there seems to be two types of black stone: Valerian melted stone and the mysterious oily stone. The later is theorised to have something to do with the deep ones
Aegon truly was the embodiment of conquest. I loved the dynamic between him and his sisters and I could never forget the moment when Visenya cut him in the face to teach him an important lesson. My favorite trio 🔥❤️
For some reason, I kinda don't want that to be the case. It takes away from the aspect of "might makes right" that Aegon and his sisters had, and instead gives this "we're actually heroes, saving you all by uniting you"
@@99Bobson you have to admit it's weird though..they stayed on Dragonstone for 114 years and now, suddenly they decided to conquer Westeros ? I don't buy it... Something must have happened. Apparently in House of The Dragon, Martin said Viserys will tell Rhaenyra a secret, a secret that has been in House Targaryen since the Conqueror himself. We don't know anything yet however..so we shall see
@@stefanciocan1605 Aegon didn't wait tho? He claimed Balerion, started getting involved. First with Volantis, a test run, essentially, then he started conquering. It's not like the whole dynasty was warmongers and conquerors. The way it always looked to me was, that Aegon got into the Dragon riding business, fought against Volantis, saw exactly what Dragons could do in a field of battle, and started burning Westeros away.
@@99Bobson then why aegon did it ? Why didn't Gaemon the Glorious do it ? Why didn't HIS son..Aegon, or Aerys, or Meagon.. My point is, if this theory is true, it doesn't break the lore and it actually..give us some motivation for his actions. That's why I never believed the fact that Aegon saw Westeros and said "Let's burn shit to the ground and take it ! ".
I wish HoTD would start with Aegon's Conquest. Balerion aside, I would have loved to have seen Visenya slay with Dark Sister. I wouldn't be surprised if Aegon himself had received some sort of prophetic dream leading him to conquer Westeros.
George Matin himself has hinted such prophecy in an interview, claiming that Aegon could even have had somehow predicted the great threat that would come from the north 300 years later, and that a united realm would be much better prepared for such an event...
@@VictorStarchild Id argue that because GRRM is working closely as a show runner on hotd, stuff that updates (note-not changes, updates) things from the books should be cannon
Aegon and his sister wives praying for seven days in the sept to ponder their conquest is probably just propaganda from the faith after the fact. The faith of the seven and Targeryan family fought many times over their incest and right to power, so this to me reads as when the faith had accepted the targs they had to retroactively make the targs faithful to the seven
Also, Aegon had some knowledge of the Others/White Walkers & he wanted to unite the kingdoms for the coming fight. Maybe he had visions when he was sleeping, dragon dreams.
@@db4517 No, it’s not in the books. However, after Fire & Blood first came out GRRM did many interviews bringing up the idea that Aegon may’ve come to Westeros cos of the pending doom of the Long Night. You can find them on RU-vid.
i think he helped stop Volantis from conquering essos because they would've been a hassle to deal with if they decided to look at westeros as the next land to conquer
I honestly had no idea that Argelac had killed a gardener king in his youth, that makes him so much cooler in my eyes now, but you’d think that a man like him would try to have sons to secure his lineage, but all he had was a daughter in pretty sure
How is it "cooler" he killed a Gardner King? Wasn't Argelac a lot more arrogant and bull headed than most in his time? Maybe not as much a much as King Harron but... if the Gardners are anything like their Tyrell bannermen of the time then, I can only imagine what the fight was over
@@thalmoragent9344 the reach has a history of pushing into the stormlands, it was almost 100% a defensive war, not only do the stormlanders not have the men to go on the offensive towards the reach but it would also be a stupid idea considering they’d be leaving their lands open to raiders from dorm and the river lands controlled by the ironborn
@@billychops1280 Interesting, wonder what the Reach would want with the Stormlands that they don't already have back home. Fo the Stormlands have a decent amount of fertile ground as well, or was it just a "habit" they had, for some reason? And in that case, yeah I suppose it would be cool he defended, fought off, and killed a King who invaded his lands for seemingly no other reason than just "muh conquest", although surely there was more to it, no?
@@thalmoragent9344 the reach wants the land and to vassalize the storm lords because not only would that make the reach the superpower of westeros (which they already were but it would be non disputable after the taking of the storm lands) and also after taking them over they would then have the strongest soldiers (the stromlanders) and most marshal lords (the marcher lords like carron, Selmy, swann and dondarion on their side, which would make them the strongest military forced on the continent, their army would stand at around 130K and they would also cut Dorne off from the rest of the kingdoms which would then make it easier for the reach to conquer them as well later on if they wanted
@@billychops1280 So they'd strongest, largest, and most well fed Military, as well as tons of land to mine if needed... Yeah, I can see that. Although it makes you wonder why Dorne wanted to fight the Stormlanders, maybe as retribution for all the times Dorne has been dissed by the other kingdoms for being "a bunch of foreigners", so maybe they wanted to prove themselves.
Idk who rivals Aegon in coolness Harren the black who made Harrenhall come to life or Argillac who literally killed a gardener king ? Bunch of madlads all of them if you ask me
Imagine spending all this time on this video and then having GRRM come out and say in episode 1 of House of The Dragon that Aegon had a dragon dream of the White Walkers effectively ending this theory forever😂😂 that’s tough bro should have waited to release this one haha
My little head canon is that Argilac and Aegon knew each other well, due to the close proximity and wars. The relationship between them would be by far not friends but respected Allies. So when Argilac offered the marriage it was in a genuine desire to save his kingdom.
Aegon joined the fight against Volantis because he simply didn't want a new Freehold, a new empire in essos that could rival the future seven kingdoms, best to keep the free cities separated
What Argilac was offering wasn’t actual that bad of a deal, actually historically empires did this pretty often Take down a hostile opponent with outside help Give the help much of the spoils Maintain relationship It generally works pretty well historically at least in the short term
I've watched a video on his conquest and how it started a few years back. I was shocked when I found out the Targaryens were in Westeros for about a century before he decided to take over. This made it much more interesting to me. I wish they said this in the show.
spoiler : According to George Aegon also had a vision of the white walkers and he wanted the 7 kingdoms to be united against that threat. @Whycreate I would love for you to make a video on the what you think the contents of the letter sent to Aegon by the Martells was
Would Aegon be disappointed on how his decedents turns out and what they done to the kingdom after his death? Probably regretted making the iron throne because to me a king is more than important just a stupid iron chair.
We make sense what he conquered the stormlands and the riverlands they're the closest to him then taking out the green hand and the lion next and only has to do is take on the North and then run the Erie and Dawn will be the last one but Dawn does not bend break or kneel even was struck by a spear it still remains that way as high as the sun
It’s just a tv show dude he is a good actor with black skin of that makes you uncomfortable to the point of asking why, then I don’t know where your biases which appear to be racially motivated are coming from to be asking such a question
Plot 🐉 Rhaegal finds Jon snow beyond the wall where banished in the sequel because they bonded during the ride and becomes king beyond the wall news travels through All the lands and unites the unexplored lands in the series with only goal of defending humanity from future white walkers and creatures who dwell beyond the wall .. now that Jon and Rhaegal are bonded he grows bigger to the size of Balerion due to bond being as strong as balerion had with aegon . 😁 one can only hope lol
Ffs. Roberts rebellion really was a lie! We were lead to believe the 300 year Valyrian dynasty came to an end in Westeros.... but that's wrong. House Baratheon is a Valyrian/Targaryen house in all but name! Just the bastards branch of the family tree. It's thanks to Cerceis cucking Robert that put Lannisters on the throne (still using the name Baratheon though...). The Targaryens started and ended with incest. And Aegon had a brother? That means his brother watched awkwardly as his siblings f*** each other.
That brother became sick of it, And just went his normal ways then again Robert's rebellion is mostly a stark centered one, stark men die and the sister kidnapped, Robert's is just the guy who took initiative to rebel
