You can get the Japanese perspective here ► ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d89JU5Efi6Y.html The views and opinions expressed in this video are those of individual interviewees alone and do not reflect the views of Asian Boss or the general Korean population. If it hasn’t been clear to date, our mission is to provide you with as many ordinary people’s opinions as possible on any given subject. It usually takes our team over 5 hours of standing on the streets to be able to interview roughly 10 sets of people. 9 times out of 10, people will refuse to be interviewed. We never claim to be the most objective news source - we just bring you a diverse set of opinions and let you make up your own mind. Do your own research and fact-checking. Use our videos as a tool to engage and discuss with others who have different opinions. Thanks for watching and stay curious.

Exactly! Can't wait to see the next one!! But I think there could be something that the video won't be able to capture. I suspect there will be many people (in Japan) who basically don't have a strong opinion, or don't really understand what is going on, but in your videos you can't just show a bunch of people saying "I don't know." It would be interesting to know statistics on how many people you start to talk to but who end up not saying much (and therefore are cut from the final video.) Even though this is big news in Japan, I think a lot of young people won't have an well-informed opinion about it.

At one point, a large number of orders for fluorine-related products were placed in a hurry, and after that, a Korean company went missing. The fluorine related chemicals can be used to produce toxic gases and chemical weapons. The destination is "North Korea" There is surprising information to support this. Please listen carefully. The following information was obtained from Japanese and U.S. intelligence officials. "The U.S., led by the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency), has been thoroughly scouring North Korea and Iran for sources of strategic materials needed to develop nuclear and biochemical weapons. the White House is enraged by the emergence of South Korea"

[illegal export to Korea] It has been revealed that South Korean companies illegally exported goods that could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction to North Korean allies such as Syria and Iran. South Korea's lax awareness of the illegal international distribution of strategic goods has been highlighted.

People who are commenting on anime and kpop are missing the point. Relations between countries is an important issue and if such problems don't get solved the citizens of both countries are going to suffer. [EDIT] I wanted to add that from what I personally understood after watching the video, the boycott isn't happening as retaliation for what Japan did during the war but that's part of history that cannot be forgotten. (AsianBoss has a great video on Comfort Women that I highly suggest you check out if you haven't already.) Japan made the process of exporting goods to Korea more difficult and that's why Koreans are, for a lack of a better word, rioting. Liking anime and or Kpop is completely irrelevant and I do understand that people use it as a joke but when I watched thr video nobody was addressing the actual issue and that's what lead me to write this comment.

Nah but "reparations", these people don't care about the impact it has on their fellow Koreans. The people getting in on this boycott fit in only two categories. 1: angry spiteful people who hate another race and can't move on from an atrocity which happened before most of us were born, and want to milk that guilt for everything they can. 2: entitled millennial Koreans who believe doing so will make their peers view them as morally superior.

I have this burning question. Some online documents / infopage mention the 1965 treaty between Japan and Korea. Where it ended up in Japan giving $800 million as soft loan and Korean government promised to not demanding further compensation on national nor individual level. It was also said that Japan previously offered individual compensation, but Korean government refused. How about that?
@aabbdd3800
@aabbdd3800 Год назад
1965 was a military dictatorship, and the dictator ruled Korea by force for nearly 16 years. There were also big protests against these conventions at the time, but they were violently suppressed. The dictator was also assassinated by his subordinates, and Korea was not democratized until the 1990s. In other words, the agreement was signed by the military at the time, ignoring the will of the citizens, and the compensation did not return a penny to the actual victim. Therefore, the government recognizes the agreement, but most Korean citizens do not.

I am Japanese and I’m always pained over all the ugliness between South Korea and Japan. We rely on each other economically, we are close geographically, and we have incorporated parts of each other into our own popular cultures. And yet there is this giant rift. I personally love South Korea and its culture, food, history... I am planning a trip to Korea Town in Tokyo with a friend and I am so excited for it. And I’m not the exception. What I want to say to people on both sides is how important it is to remember that what is going on is going on between our governments. Please lets not hate each other as ordinary citizens? I also want to note that I am ashamed at how little objective information is readily available to Japanese people in our own language about the atrocious war crimes we committed and the attempts (arguable) at reparation that have been made, and why our government refuses to make a proper apology. I love my country, and I love South Korea. I apologize if this comment has offended anyone in any way.

What makes me lost for words the most is that japanese ppl are never ever aware of and endeavouring to know what's behind the scenes, what became the catalyst for all these conflicts and stuff. I see that most japanese ppl are disinterested in the political issues, but koreans are. Koreans are at least trying to face up to the ever-present historical and political issues, at the core of which they initiate discussions on what best to do with the jpns government for the betterment of the national relation between korea and japan. But jpns ppl as well as their government haven't put any efforts on gleaning such information but just neglecting all they need to do. Like Ordinary jpns say 'i like korea, so i hope both countries should get well together with no hatred. We both should go forward to our bright future, nakayokushimasyo~' But hey It actually sounds quite annoying. It might sound like koreans are always whining or sth. But hell no Remaining in a good relation is not based on only grining and pleasing each other ostensibly but authentic understanding and required efforts for getting to know what pissed the other off and not only saving one's face, knowing how important it is to respect, not calling a country like a tourism country full of confort women(what the jpns govern called naughty prostitutes lol) for sex tour *i have jpns friends and i can speak fluent jpns too. Dont get me wrong mate. It feels so clueless that jpns ppl sometimes seem so ignorant of the politics but only their daily fun.

yohan jeon I think I understand what you’re saying, and you’ve pointed to my fatal flaw, which is that I am not an activist. I am interested and I look things up online, but that is about the extent of it. Am I out on the streets protesting, demanding our government make changes? Am I actively trying to make change? No. I am on RU-vid anonymously whining. You’re absolutely right about most general Japanese people being completely disinterested and frankly ignorant about political issues. I spent my formative years in the US so I notice the difference in general interest and activism and it disturbs me too. If you’ll allow me to talk so much I think it is partially if not fully rooted in Japan’s values. “Heiwa,” the kanji of which suggests “flatness” and “peace.” Don’t disturb the peace, don’t disrupt other people’s sense of peace. I am guilty of adhering to this norm. I have tried to talk about political issues with friends and colleagues and I can feel their boredom and even annoyance. So I don’t talk about these things with these people. That perpetuates the problem. I just wanted to say, I understand where you’re coming from, and I agree with you.

Rumi Maehata "the atrocious war crimes we committed and the attempts (arguable) at reparation that have been made, and why our government refuses to make a proper apology." ...But I see many people saying that Japan has apologized "11 times" - what's the true history there? And I see a huge problem when a country avoids confrontation and wants above all to "Save Face..." As much as I love Japanese people, that's a recipe for lying, obfuscating, and suppressing the truth...

In Korea, the use of exported chemical products is not accurate. The usage of 30% sent from Japan is unknown. Although hydrogen fluoride can be diverted to chemical weapons, there is an obligation to explain it, but South Korea does not explain it at all. What's more, every meeting once a few months since Kim Jae-in became president has been ignored. South Korea is said to be illegally exporting hydrogen fluoride to other countries. This is one reason why Japan removes it from the white list. Koreans make too much noise without understanding the correct facts. Always emotional.

@@thibaud75014 Japan still denies comfort women existed. They also don't teach their students about the war atrocities they have done. Most countries like Canada admit their faults. I had to learn about what Canada did to first nations every history class extensively. Japan can do much better.

@@thibaud75014 i don't mean to start beef, but for just a little context: there HAVE been past administrations in Japan that apologized, but the current Abe administration changed the stance by denying it. It's not the opinion of Japan as a whole; just Abe, but that upset a lot of Koreans because he's more or less a representative of the country. Japan also change/omit historical facts in their official school history textbooks, and that upset a lot of people too. They have indeed apologjzed and gave a lot of money in the past, but it's the current administration seems to have a different opinion :/ (from what i know at least)

In that case the UK should apologize with... pretty much every continent, Spain with half the world, US with Vietnam and middle east, and so on. It is better if this terrible parts of history teach us how to prevent suffering of the weak instead of making new wars.

Cez Infante I agree. A world apology committee should be formed by people representing each country willing to be kind to the country previously has harmed (most likely won’t be the government of most places). Lots of history is being pushed down in favor of patriotism

I think why Koreans have such a big problem with this lack of apology is because this isn’t something that happened 100s of years ago but it was quiet recent. There are comfort women who’re still alive today. So, it’s still a fresh wound and it seems the Japanese (government) are refusing to address the issue and apologize for it.
