Hello. I am in my 70s living far from the madding crowd in the wilds of Scotland. I have been seeking truth, freedom, love, peace, fulfilment for everyone my whole life. I also was a Clinical Psychologist who worked with R D Laing. I travelled east to learn fro the wisdom of the east. Feminism. Communal living. Going beyond the frontiers of the analytical mind. And so on and so on. From my simple life now close to nature I simply want to recognise you as a truth teller. And of course the truth will set us free. Thank you.❤

Totally agree on small goals, small tasks, small steps forward.... the world is just too much sometimes.... learn to enjoy being alone..to work on what YOU would like to be! .

What wise words. I wish I’d had that advice when I was younger. This needs to be taught in schools as important social skills to help you live an easier life. It should be as important as academia.

Good advice really, all this time I'm focusing on getting a gf and getting sad seeing everyone getting families and not focusing on me at all. And I feel way better for working towards my dreams no matter how small they might be. I'm starting to believe were on this planet to make and achieve goals to push others to do so to keep us going.

Would have saved myself a ton of frustration and failures had I listened to Peterson's advice. Forbearance and negotiation was never part of my strategy. Thank you Dr Peterson!

Friendly reminder that time is the most valuable thing we all have. If you feel the person in front of you is wasting your time, walk away no matter what the other individual think, ultimately how the individual frame it, is not your problem, it’s strength to value yourself.

This guy is exceptionally intelligent. When I was younger I didn't use the minimal amount of force to stop a bad situation. I would take it way further than most people would because I wanted everyone who witnessed it to make sure that everyone else knew I was not the one to mess with. I was insane is what I was. I was young and strong but I didn't have enough foresight to see that I wasn't always going to be that strong so I had to learn how to handle things differently. There's is a huge difference between me today and me 20 years ago. I'm 51 and I look at the world completely different than I did 20 years ago. Personally for me reading the Bible and trying to understand it and trying and failing and trying and failing and every now and then getting it right has made me grow as a person. I fight that side of me that wants to get angry and lose my rational thinking. This is not something I've read in the Bible but it's something I was told by Bible scholar. He said in the last days of men we will barely live long enough to fully mature before we die. If you do believe the Bible like I do then you know Adam and Methuselah and Noah and most of the people in the Old Testament lived to be upwards to 900 and some years old. I'll be surprised if I get 65 years out of this life and that's if judgment they doesn't come before first. I was not mature for the majority of my life and I'm still a work in progress. I can only hope and pray that I get it right before I die because for me it's just not getting it right in a mature sense so much as it is getting it right from a Biblical perspective. I've had setbacks but someday there's not going to be room for any more setbacks. I don't want that day to come before I'm ready!

I read a lot of your books and I could really say man you definitely want to be the best human being you can

Because you get to better yourself , master your flaw on a much much better level without everyone and everything else distracting you in one way or another .for me personally being alone always was more productive and made me reach the goal that I had set out to achieve .and honestly when you are alone you start to see things that were not caught by your eyes before , because you were too busy with everyone around and every little distraction there was in your life .perfect example I can give you is that I never was a reader , but now I am and what results does a person get out of reading at the very least? Right you become more knowledgeable that you were before .and that alone is enough reason for me to believe in the fact that being alone has done better for me than anything else period .let's not get into anything else 🙏❤️

Any relationship with any other human is always stressful. But my rescued Dog just gives me peace and joy.

Loneliness its just like messy room,don't pretend that is not,dont do something else to not think about or meditate... Be grateful that is messy now you have some work to do ;-)

Your conversations allow a peace and easiness to my heart. So much to learn but nothing is more important. People including myself have benefited from the years of physical mental work that you provide freely to help build things that are broken and neglected. Compliance to your knowledge much needed and deserved appreciation for your exhausting works and time.

I would make a distinction between loneliness and chronic loneliness. The first can be healthy and allow for introspection. The latter is dangerous and can cloud your better judgment.

I rather be alone than with people who disrespect me and exclude me from groups When you are 'alone' at least is better and also you're never alone but 'with yourself' in certain way that makes me never feel alone when i clearly have myself and my self love

Great compilation! Always good to hear Peterson's talks in different snippets. I do have to say, though, the title is clickbaity -- in my estimation, there's nothing in this video that states, or even suggests, that "Loneliness is Good". In fact, throughout my consumption of hours and hours of Peterson lectures and audiobooks, I doubt that he's ever said, or even suggested the truth of such a statement. IMO, the core material is good enough, and doesn't need distracting, irrelevant titles -- just stick to the core message found in the compilation, and you are golden. c:

Don't lie authentically means the action of acknowledging conditions that limit and distort perception. And doing so until people are not trapped in cynicism and resentment. Jordan's fundamental points in this video are: 1. Be grateful- cover up cynicism and resentment with limitations and distortions of perception. 2. Love means covering up his hatred of his parents' behavior with the ideas and strategies of a dependent and emotionally unconscious child. Jordan's identity was created by a child, that was forced to limit and distort his perception, in order to believe that truth is nested inside of strategies to protect the people he loves, from transparency and accountability.

I haven't watched the video but here are two cents. Loneliness is not good. Being alone cn be peaceful but being loney really sucks.

In order to create "peace and not victory", we have to become more humble and restrict our ego. Since today's society is focused on ego as the main source of self-esteem, it's hard to change that. But when we get older, hopefully, many of us start seeing how unimportant our egoistic tendencies are and how much they have corrupted our well-being. Then the real change becomes possible!

After 30 years of loneliness its not so bad... When you want to feel joy and happiness just remember when someone said a few nice things to you...or asked if you wanted to watch a movie or get some dinner... Just live like that until the heart attack comes then you go to the next place..

It has pros and cons, i don't think it's healthy to be lonely long periods of time though. Like i said there's pro and cons. Being lonely can help you to focus on yourself and achieve goals without distraction. Being with people can help you to have fun and not overthinking.

Loneliness is preferable to being manipulated and controlled. Feminism has taught a lot of women than conflict is a good in itself in that it’s a form of attention. If I have to contend with endless, pointless warfare or loneliness, table for one please.

Remember, using minimal force does not necessarily mean door slamming completely. You want to be able to challenge yourself, stand up for yourself; not for winning, but for something that is truthful, physically or metaphysically true.

I think the title should be why being alone is good not why loneliness is good I would say there are lot of researches published out on the dangerous outcomes of loneliness on physical mental and social health
