I just finished a three-day fast for chronic eczema on my face. My eyelids cleared up completely! Nothing helped before, and doctors just say it can't be cured, only managed. I will do it again but not mention it to other people, who say ignorant things such as "It's dangerous." I felt and feel great. Best wishes to anyone embarking on a fast.

@@kageoashj2912 I only weigh 100 pounds! It's just a few days, so you should be fine. After fasting, I avoid sugar, wheat, and dairy, but I don't know if that helps my skin. I just feel better. Your mileage may differ. Best of luck to you.

That's amazing, great to hear. FYI I suffered from eczema my whole life, about a year ago I went vegan for 30 days as an experiment. Cutting out all animal products and eating fully plant based and whole food. To my amazement my eczema completely cleared up, my skin was healthy and clear. Since then I have remained plant based and from time to time I slipped up and had some cheese and junk foods and my eczema immediately started coming back. So if you are not already would really reccomend trying it. I went to dermatologist all my life and not once did they ask my diet, lifestyle, just gave me steroid creams that only act as temporary fix. Also i take cold showers, the hot water is very bad for skin. Lots of nuts and veggies are best for skin! Good luck
@TerriblePerfection
@TerriblePerfection 4 года назад
@@iestooo Thank you for sharing your story. I find it very interesting, especially the part about getting a flare-up when you deviated from your vegan diet. This will sound really lame, but I'd find it very difficult to go vegan because I'm married and do the cooking (he does clean-up). He's already pretty agreeable to my many salads, but he won't go vegan. Yes, I could prepare two different things, but my meal prep is already so labor-intensive. I'm having a flare-up right now, almost certainly because I added some wheat and dairy to my diet in the last few days. I like some cheese (goat or sheep) and occasional bread, but neither agrees with me, and my skin is letting me know! Yes, dermatology is in a disgraceful state. Hard to believe they can't do better, but there's no money to be made if you tell people they don't need drugs, only a better diet. Best to you too.

@Rist001
@Rist001 6 лет назад
Hello, Phoenix Rising In responds to your question at ‘the stoic body’, I started after reaching 88kg And hitting a plateau resulting in being ‘skinny fat’,no muscle tone. I eat healthy and watched my weekly carb, protein and fat intake with the Lifesum app. As I hit that plateau my goals changed and I started working out and gained muscle tone but didn’t lose the stubborn fat around legs and belly. I’m now Intermittent fasting (18/6) for about 2,5 months and lost a significant amount of fat and retained my muscle tone (i use the athlean x inferno shred) I mostly follow their dietary advice but in my non fasting window (small meals, I get druzy eating large meals)

A metaphor occurred to me while watching this. You know how some people, when they are bored, feel an urge to clean their house or repair stuff? Well, animals are eating machines : the main activity of the body is to digest food. So when they have nothing to digest, they go into maintenance mode and they start repairing stuff.

Man, Thomas ... thanks so much for putting this info out here. I usually try to be quiet about when I fast (I started fasting for religious purposes), but I've been noticeably losing weight and people ask what I do and when I tell them intermittent fasting and prolonged fasting combined with a super disciplined diet and exercise, people are all about the diet and exercise part but really, really quick to "inform" me that my discipline of fasting is "unhealthy" and that I need to be eating 3+ times a day (kinda funny when you consider that most of these conversations are started from the place of, "Wow, you look great! What are you doing?"). Because of your videos not only do I continue to have confidence in what I'm doing despite all the naysayers, but I can also re-educate them using facts and science. I really, really appreciate that you include references as well that I can provide the more stubborn naysayers. I kind of hate how much I have to defend myself, but eventually the results will speak for themselves, right? Thanks again!

Very surprised, fasted for 24 hours, 2hr morning intense workout , black coffee and water, not to much, thought for sure I would get lethargic due to low blood sugar, took a tablespoon of olive oil and a pinch of Himalayan pink sea salt, the opposite happened, fantastic endless energy, almost went to gym for a PM workout. Tomorrow I going into a 12hr. 8 heating window and consuming clean, no junk, can't believe this, thank you, going to do this maybe 2x a month. I found during the fast you have to stay occupied, this helps tremendously as opposed to just sitting and thinking about it. Your more apt to eat when your bored or stressed

I made a life style choice over 4 years ago by fasting every second day of my life. I lost 17 kg in about 6 months. (stabilised weight is now at 71kg). It was a bit unusual at first but after a couple of weeks it felt normal. I will never go back to my old life that's for certain. My overall health has improved dramatically, my energy levels are much higher and I feel much younger than my age would suggest. Intermittent diets or occasional fasting have not worked for me. I was grinding my way through the first couple of weeks by combatting stupid habits but the early effects were so encouraging that I stuck with it to this day. Sometimes I throw in an extra day of fasting and that seems to boost my brain function even a little more (clarity). On my eating days I can pig out on everything I want but my stomach has shrunk quite a bit so my food portions are fairly small these days. I also enjoy fast bicycle riding and I have the energy to do that now.

As of right now I'm on day two of my fast. I'm fairly new at fasting, but every time I do it I become more of an advocate. There is a reason fasting has been a practice for thousands of years i.e. Christ, Buddha, Mohammed. Besides the internal cleansing, it cleanses my mind and I achieve laser beam focus, increased energy, and a myriad of other benefits. Arthritis pain GONE, Emotions STABLE, focus ON POINT, feeling accomplished, CHECK. It is important to give our bodies some love and respect and a rest from all the junk and poison we consume on a daily basis. Im committed to flying the fasting flag to everyone I know and to educate as many people as possible. Thanks Thomas for all your videos and commitment.

I just finished a 96hr fast. I had some previous 16:8 - around 2 months, lost 30lbs - experience. Doing the 16:8 started at - 5'8" - 190 lbs - dropped 5 lbs a wk first 3 wks - ending by going 12 days in a row under 160. Surprisingly the weight loss turned into a side bonus. My mental mood went from a 5 out of 10 to like a 9. Total attitude adjustment, I couldn't believe the positive mental energy I obtained.

I have a very physical job as well and I've found that 24 hr fasts are no problem, once I get to 36-40 and am doing hard physical work my body really starts to break down and I have to eat. I think you need to find some time off/less physical stuff to do longer than 36 hrs

@@ssimon64 True. If you physically stress your body and fast regularly, you lose muscles. My advice is that you take some whey, trust me. Then do 48 fast, growth hormone works for you, though you lose some muscles, but with whey, you replenish it quickly. I started doing that.
