Los conquistadores españoles lo llevaron a Europa en el siglo XVI, donde se fue popularizando gradualmente. Hoy en día, el aguacate se cultiva en muchas partes del mundo, pero los principales productores son México, República Dominicana, Colombia y Perú. 1) Mexican avocados were allowed to be imported in small numbers beginning in 1997, to meet growing demands not met by US growers. 2) Mexican avocado industry is largely controlled by Cartels. Yes, the same ones as you are thinking when I say that word. 3) 2007 "arsonists" started large "wildfires" in San Diego County, destroying 90% of the largest US growing region of the US avocado crop. 4) Later that year, restrictions on the importation volume of Mexican avocados was lifted, as we could no longer meet a growing demand with domestic production.

Well, It's very simple: 20 years ago guacamole and avocados were a Mexican restaurants tradition, mostly. Nowadays it has expanded to the entire world as a delicacy. Especially in USA. I heard even guacamole and tortilla chips is the most consumed dish during the Superbowl, 5 de Mayo and most holidays. In fact, there are three things you can't never get rid of your life: a Mexican, a Mariachi, a shot of tequila, tacos, and a tasty guacamole.
