Why Mid-Day Is The Best Fishing Time… 

Early morning not only adds a mystique of watching the sunrise and terrific fishing, especially during shad spawns, but you also beat a lot of the wakeboats and knuckleheads out just burning gas

In the middle of the day the lake is so busy tho it’s hard to enjoy it

During the hot summer here , if you go in the middle of the day here down south you will not catch much , it gets too hot for em , if I do fish during this time you have till about 10:00am in the morning and the evenings you have a few hours before dark that they will only feed in the month of June , July , and August

I'll agree to that, I like going early because it's cooler and less boat traffic . But I definitely understand what you mean.

I would love to fish mid day so I could sleep in, but here in the Phoenix area, anything after 9 am your being tossed by the swells and waves that ski and wave boat make. The lake gets like a washing machine.

I always fish in the morning I’ve never got something because I just started fishing 3 weeks ago I got. A bite or two but this is really helpfull

As a kayak fisherman, from dawn until 10am is the only peaceful time to be on water. After around 10, you gotta find a no engines allowed lake, or risk death

Honestly the main reason I fish at sunrise because there are a lot fewer people. My home like is crowded with live bait users all day between noon and 7pm

it depend about alot of things, where i live there is so many different spots, swamps, lakes, rivers. in one spot i can get the fish on the morning and at dawn, in other spots in midday, after rain some spots got really muddy and some swampy place got the crystal clear water. i go from one to the other because in some place i cant get any bites but 3miles aways they bite like crazy. its hard to pu a general fits all thing on this in my opinion

Great points! You need to know your body of water, eg your ‘varies lake to lake’ comment. My PB LMB was 4:45am mimicking early morning baitfish (needless to say, no one else was on the lake yet).

Great info Randy! I follow Prime Times from Rick Taylor and what you are saying is in alignment with Prime Times. The bite window in the high sun seems to be 11:30AM and 3:00PM according to Rick. I have experienced this bite phenomenon first hand. I never miss fishing this time of day!

Couldn’t agree more! We quit trying to get out to fish at anytime before 10am. In fact, we never usually catch any bass before noon here in western NY…best bites start around 3-5pm. 🤷‍♂️

Early morning is so overrated. I've caught a lot of my best fish during the day, or at night. But I've noticed a lot of the bite depends on available cover. If they dump herbicides into the lake to kill weeds, they don't bite well during the day. But if there's good available cover, the fish usually feel secure and bite well when the sun is up.

Yeah, just on Thursday water. I caught more during full light, fishing the shadows at 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. When the evening shade came, I that is when I expected to get better bites.....nada. With that said, this lake used to go off the hook in last 20 minutes before sunset when the sun went behind certain trees. I don't know what changed. But I find myself getting to the lake later afternoon and get a surprising amount of fish in full sun but fishing the tight shade exactly like you said.

I’m in Texas and this summer is dedicated to my big swim baits. I usually just throw XD8 and 10 in deep water. But I’m going to try big swim baits.

Just got off the water and only got 2 but one was 23.5" and about 8.5lbs

Dawn/dusk is the "magic hours" for a reason. Just feeding habits and biology. Bass are non eyelid fish, in bright sky situations they don't like moving as much because of bird strikes. It's science, bass feed most at night so dawn/dusk isn't made up, it's just the best transition period

Man our lakes are great first 2 hrs then there is the 10 to 12 dead zone but once the sun gets high it's a whack fest

Yeah , in Florida in the middle of the day in summer . It's 90 degrees by 9:00 . You can barely stand to be outside .

yeah there's no way. It's too hot, too many pleasure boaters, and all the fish are hiding from the sun like i should be. I'll stick with night fishing.

I prefer mid-day fishing. Most people are off the lake by then. Even in the heat of summer, I still catch fish.

Ninety percent of the bass of cotton has been in the morning or in the afternoon to evening.... I've caught big bass in the middle of the day, traffic but I definitely caught more fish in the morning an evening. It was funny that you say it's because we can see better during the day because at night they still eat food and they can't see better then
