So many of these F2P games end up falling at the beginning but then have a resurgence some point down the line. Apex and Fall Guys are both good examples.
@@TYGERISLIVE When it first came out it was said to be the fortnite killer and did good at first but i think thats around the time fortnite started pumping out all the guest marvel characters and other crossovers so apex was in the shadows for a bit
Definitely one of my biggest issues with the game. 5 stages (I'm not counting variants) with 1 or 2 music tracks a piece is pretty horrible for a platform fighter and not getting a single new one over the entire season is really disappointing. Makes things feel pretty repetitive.
Yeah, this was a big issue for me besides the lack of modes and singleplayer content; the lack of stages makes the already-repetitive online feel even more stale. We didn't even get one proper new stage added this season; Space Jam Court is new but it's incomplete and isn't even available in the online rotation so it's addition doesn't really make a difference, and the roofless Haunted Mansion is just a variant to an already-existing stage. Would have been nice if they added the WB Watertower stage this season but at this rate I don't see it being in until Season 2.
omg yesss the one i really hate is that like mansion stage where the floors and stuff break, such an annoying stage and i feel like i get it 90% of the time, like whats the deal
Hear me out but I super disagree that it was the characters that caused people to leave. I agree that it sucks that they did not celebrate the 30th anniversarys but characters bring people in/back. The real problem is getting them to stay. The reason I did not play that much is the battlepass was meh and once you completed it, there was very little reason to keep playing. The lack of strong characters is a good point but I still think that it is far less crucial then giving people plenty to do. I for one love the addition of silly queue and while it may be a novelty, it certainly sparked my interest a lot.
Agreed! I don't care too much about the roster itself, but there needs to be more actual content, a good battle pass, a reason to play in general! I can't wait to play this game again, but I know that if I do it now I'm going to get bored very quickly, since there's no reason for me to play(and I'm not a fan of this battle pass either)
@@frewrldmusic captain falcon was used as a reskin over models they used when making the prototype for the game before they knew nintendo characters would be used. Best example I could think of for multiversus to use is like if they lost the right to Legolas and Gandalf, so instead of wasting the assets and moves, they did tweaks to make Green Arrow and Dumbledore or smth
I think something people don’t realize is that Season 1 dropped right when school started, and the game was pretty unbalanced, people don’t have as much time to play while in school and the game didn’t have enough content to keep people coming back when they’re busy and the balance was frustrating, also just cuz this is a Warner project it doesn’t mean they can just use whatever character, they still need to get licenses for the characters, so it’s not always the developer’s decision
I think the reason why, wasn't because of character choices, far from it, it was because of the lack of any new modes or stages, and the connection issues Like, they added Arcade on NOVEMBER 1st, may I remind you that S1 ends on NOVEMBER 15, see the probelm? I feel like if Arcade release in September, the playerbase wouldn't have fell off too hard. Not only that, but the most wanted feature is ranked mode, and it still isn't in the game! And it's most likely gonna come out in S2 unfortunately. And they only added the Space Jam stage, which is cool, but again, really close to the end of S1, and when it released you could only play in Lab and custom matches And of course, the connection issues don't seem to have been improved. While there were only a couple times where the lag was really bad for me, I know a lot of other people had much worse perfomance. It also has to do something with Asia not having servers or something And yes, while the character choices also put off some people, I feel like if these other features were implemented sooner, or better timing, it would not have fallen off so hard
Apparently the connection is getting fixed soon, pfg released something that allowed people to try out their new servers and the feedback was extremely positive so they plan to tune it more before releasing it. I agree with everything said though the extra modes were added to late as well as stages. Hopefully season 2 is better.
I'm still playing consistently but honestly in my opinion from the beginning was the servers and glitches needed fixing and that still stands true today, months after release, if you have laggy/unstable servers with glitches ontop of that then you'll have people who wanna enjoy the game losing from faults not of their own and no one likes losing especially on a game they're trying to learn.
You've made a pretty solid point. I hope that the Season 2 roster will gain more interest regarding new characters' choice, although I'd still release like 1 or 2 characters from a less recognizable or even almost forgotten franchise. I'll take Beetlejuice as an example. I don't know if he will be released in Season 2, but clearly he will get into the game pretty soon, and although I'm probably the only one that's hyped for Beetlejuice besides that dude at Player First Games that said "Yo guys I watched this movie last night with this funny man with hammer hands let's put him in Multiversus lmao", I understand that he would not gather much interest in the community. Not as much as other more popular characters like Scorpion, Scooby-Doo or others. Great video, btw!
Characters were not the problem AT ALL. Lack of things to unlock/grind for, short battlepass with no gold unlock afterward and overall lack of gameplay variety (not enough maps and gamemodes) were the true reasons why people stopped playing. I myself got bored many times and stopped playing, and character are actually what made me come back every single time a new character released !
I can totally understand this critique, but I think the main thing is more customization, in a f2p game, very little customization options plus the fact that all the skins are like REALLY expensive, makes the people like me who want to buy stuff, not have anything worth while to buy. Just my take but yeah
I agree with this take let’s be honest most of the casual audience care about the looks and characters presented to them that they recognize essentially when it comes to a platform fighter. Their season one choices for characters were lack luster and if theses leaks are true the Martian and wicked which will be next which baffles me. How we get taz in the roster before Daffy Duck himself.
@@MagcargoMan Daffy Duck is a fourth wall breaking character his move set and combs would be more unique then most characters plus at the end of the day wb is a business they should put there most recognizable characters at the for front to peak a wider interest.
Idk if i completely agree with this, they're trying to make a roster that is more of what warner bros have in general, and trying to focus on other stuff later, and i think is understandable, i think is ok to have stripe, gizmo and some other characters first, other characters are coming later anyway, is just a matter of wait, yeah, it sucks that people are impatience and this affect the game, but i don't think that the main reason the game is like this is the characters, i think is more the lack of modes, the lack of stuff to do, plataform fighter relies a lot in modes, and even smash is lacking in mode nowadays, making people less and less interested to play it. multiversus had nothing but the normal versus mode, and yeah, they're starting to add modes now, but it's still lacking, hopefully this will change eventually and they will add more modes to keep people interested, because, the characters are important yes, but when you have little to nothing to do in the game, how can you like to play the game, even if your favorite characters are there? it becomes repetitive and boring having nothing to do.
Nah. It's a terrible choice to make people wait for big characters. The roster sucks and a lot of people aren't happy with glaring exclusions not getting in. Nobody cares about Gizmo AND Stripe in comparison to Joker, save them for their show it would've been smart. Reminder, games with no modes/bad modes did well because of its roster. Also the broken servers...
@@nuibaba280 It's not a big time waiting, so i don't see much of an issue, it's just being a bit patience, like, joker is probably coming to the game this month still, so, why is such a big issue having stripe and gizmo first? the roster "sucking" is subjective, honestly, i really don't think so, i think they made great choices, although i think some characters should be there since the beggning, and some could be push for later, is not as big of a deal if they're getting in eventually anyway, and is not even that big of a wait for them, also a reminder for your reminder, those games only did well INITIALLY, like multiversus, none of them had to deal with having to keep a consistent playerbase like multiversus and other fighting games nowadays does, so it's not really a great comparasion, if you're saying games like marvel vs capcom infinite or mortal kombat vs dc, did well, and that games need no modes because of that, those games don't have to do with keeping consistent player base, so essentially, it doesn't matter if they have modes or not, however it is important for multiversus. but i agree with the servers problem as well, but tony already said they're currently working on fixing it, so i think it's not gonna be an issue for too long. (i hope at least.)
@@banjo9158 it does matter. If you were a new player. Would you play the game because some random character from the 80's was added. Probably not. But if your favorite character from a franchise like game of thrones was added then 100% you would at least try the game. The main goal of the game now is to build a solid foundation. Not prioritize characters that no one knows about.
@@dayyaanadam2589 i think this is a solid foundation, only having big characters at the start would mean no big characters for later, and having these more obscure characters help giving the roster an unique identity, even if it matters, is just a matter of wait, if i were a new player, i would just drop the game and wait until there's something that interest me, waiting for something is not the end of the world. And even more for this game, waiting for characters is way less time than smash bros. The lack of modes is hurting way more the game than characters, why would it matter if your favorite character is in the game if you have nothing to do? It just becomes repetitive with 1 single mode.
@@banjo9158 no that’s false. Warner bros has a whole catalogue of popular characters they can pull from from the flash, to Daffy Duck and the rest of the looney tunes franchise, to scorpion and the rest of the Mk franchise, to John snow from game of thrones, to Ben 10 and other cartoon network characters, ext prioritizing these obscure picks that no one really cares about or know about is just a bad strategy if you want to build a foundation for a game. And your right the lack of modes is hurting the game but if they added more characters people cared about it would lessen the load.
Don't read this if you care about spoilers from the datamines, but... Joker has voice lines in the files and Raven's had hers in the game since the NDA playtests, I guarantee that at least one of those two will be playable in Season 2.
A lot of factors played into it, lack of maps, bad battle pass, character unlocks being way too grindy, the new characters, no ranked, absurd cosmetic prices. And although this one may be less agreed upon I think that the focus on 2v2 hindered the game a lot. 2v2 is a novelty mode in platform fighters, and in this game it’s way too chaotic. You are actively punished for playing 1s with less XP, less Gold and less Candy.
Character roster choice is a really important topic for this kind of game and deserves to be focused on, but I wish this video was a little more investigative. It's very easy to sit back and do an armchair analysis rhetorically asking "what the heck were they thinking?", but it's a lot harder to go a bit deeper and try to understand exactly why things turned out the way they did. The first thing that we have to remember is that no matter how powerful and far-reaching their IP access is, these projects are still made by just one team, however large or small, and it takes time to negotiate these things, especially in a conglomerate like Warner in which there are clashing rules and cultures because their catalogue is made up of so many different acquired companies. Even in cases where a customer might think this stuff is simple, it's a lot more complicated, such as Disney Television shows needing paperwork done to reference Disney Movies and vice versa since they're two separate entities. Additionally, it's very easy in hindsight to say "why didn't they pick more popular characters?", but I can easily imagine that in the scenario where the Multiversus team did, and the game still didn't meet expectations, there would be a host of videos hypothesizing "why didn't they pick more obscure characters?" People kind of take for granted the idea that these character choices can be used to advertise other projects while forgetting situations such as Corrin's reveal in Smash Bros, in which it was highly unpopular. I think Tony Huynh and his team were very aware of this, and purposefully chose some more obscure picks like Gizmo to help send the message that Multiversus isn't JUST a walking advertisement. I mean, in all frankness, I find it a bit strange that you say every character in Smash 64 "was extremely relevant to Nintendo at the time" while showing Ness on screen. Ness is a great character but come on. In all likelihood, characters like Gizmo were released most likely because those were the characters they had the most development finished on, as a lot of these bigger characters had "paperwork" holding them back. Though I agree with the 30th Anniversary timings, it is way too easy to look at these things that come out purely from a consumer perspective and forget that development on these projects, these larger films and shows which Multiversus "advertises" are planned multiple years in advance, let alone ever come out at all, let alone become a hit.
People who complain about the online are those who don't live in the US or Europe. At launch, when we had a large player base, the online was fantastic. But now, the game is just a lagfest. The problem is the game tries to connect people with the servers that have the largest player base. Which always leads to disaster when you have a small number of player.
So... It's not the lack of ranked... It's not the lack of endlag universally... It's not the hitboxes all looking like Ivysaur Up Air in different directions... It's not the online being so bad that even arcade mode has rollback issues... It's the fact that they put Gizmo in instead of Scorpion? I don't think so... For it to "fall off" it isn't about getting new fans in, it's about retaining fans. It started off really popular but a lot of gameplay issues are acting as obstacles to enjoying it. Getting more people in with new characters wouldn't fix the fundamental issues that would eventually drive them away, too. 6:51 Jigglypuff...? Captain Falcon? Like, it doesn't apply to this argument, but some Smash 64 characters just got in because they were easy to implement, with Falcon using a lot of Dragon King: The Fighting Game assets and Jigglypuff using a lot of Kirby's. Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly having a blast with the new roster, but it's basically the inverse of your taste. Rick & Morty are both obnoxious in so many ways and I really just don't care about Black Adam personally. Meanwhile Gizmo is really fun to play and Stripe seems somewhat interesting too. And I would HATE a Mortal Kombat or LOTR character in this game, no matter how inevitable. The way I take it is that a lot of popular series are just not interesting to me so I'm waiting my turn for a few more fun things like more Cartoon Network choices and some third party picks like a Bloons monkey or two. 10:57 yeah smash is significantly better. there's a few frames of input delay which mess with reaction times but, hey, at least smash runs at a stable 60 FPS and doesn't have intense rollback issues like MultiVersus does, especially since offline modes like classic mode run perfectly fine unlike MultiVersus's arcade mode which manages to have rollback issues offline somehow.
@@strickshot was it? i've never heard of it being popular. plus regardless he'd probably be saved for later as a car character, considering iirc captain falcon himself doesn't even physically appear in F-Zero due to always being in the car. Captain Falcon himself wasn't exactly an "extremely relevant character" regardless of the popularity of the series.
The issue with the game having a declining playerbase is because of its lack of replayability, interest and hype, not the character roster specifically. MVS has an issue building hype for their updates and patches, the reveal for rick and gizmo were not that interesting (despite them being cool). We see with every character reveal trailer that Smash puts out is meticulously well made and gives insight how their characters will play upon launch. However, Multi just puts a character reveal trailer 1 day before the character gets released, that doesn't generate enough excitement in my opinion. Whoever the most significant issue MVS has atm is replayability. Once you level up your main, finish the battle pass and buy all of the characters, there isn't really that much to do. MVS did an amazing call by adding arcade mode and silly queue for casuals to accustom to the game better but once ranked, diverse challenges, rewards after BP, and more stages get added in, MVS will be in a much better place. Games nowadays don't really get launched as a complete product anymore and I don't really fault the devs for following this model but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have faith in this game. MVS has a lot of potential, and the team knows this since they were originally gonna name the game to WB Brawl (something along those lines) but named it Multiversus since there won't be any limits to who gets added into the roster
Imo it wasn't really the characters( though having more hype choices would have helped) I think it was because of the lack of content(which was finally recently added) the weak battle pass which I personally don't care about but I do understand the complaints and the server issues. The servers are the biggest one for some reason they have been wack since gizmo, it is getting fixed though Tony made i tweet about them yesterday and I've seen people on Twitter say that they had better connections recently (myself included). But all in all these were the main factors of why it fell off.
I understand what you are saying but how many games have sub zero and scorpion been in?? How many games have gizmo and stripe been in?? I feel like this game is a breath of fresh air and a new take in a genre I’ve never played with really classic characters I never expected to ever play in a fighting game also this is only the beginning they are testing the waters.
I definitely don't speak for everyone but I know personally after I completed the battle pass I just didn't really have any incentive to continue playing the game ever since I finished the battle pass, and if I DO wanna play the game then sometimes it'll just lag terribly and that makes me just not wanna play. I do think Stripe, Gizmo, and tbh Black Adam are all weak character picks though, and if you wanna get people to actually come back to play the game then a character like Lebron or someone who just hasn't been seen in a fighting game before like Iron Giant are definitely the ways to do that!
With how handcrafted each character feels I will happily wait for new characters for as long as I have to I do hope the studio will grow in numbers or maybe get more budget at some point because that’ll really improve on their output but for what it is now I really like Multiversus and I hope it’ll turn out like Killer Instinct
Terrible take 1. We need to stop romanticizing the numbers, especially in FTP games. Game blew up because it was free, it had to wind down at some point regardless of the quality. It could be a perfect game, it was still going to lose numbers either way. They could have released every character you named and you would still have the same argument of why “so and so” ain’t in the game. The devs dropped a new character every 2 weeks. That’s insane. Characters are FAR from the problem. P.s game of thrones is popular with the masses but NOT with the player base. You think a GOT character is more popular than Rick and morty TO THE PLAYER BASE. U think casual GOT watchers are going to jump into a fighting game. Hahahahaha I haven’t seen a single person wish for a GOT character outside of you 2. This is a fighting game. Fighting games have a high skill floor once the meta is established. And the reward for losing is small. I might lose in fortnite but at least I got 7 kills. That’s not an option here. You either get your ass kicked or you don’t and casuals run from that shit which explains the massive drop off once the good players and casuals were cemented. This is why I think a massive surge in popularity won’t be possible no matter what they add to the game. It’s a niche game. Don’t let the initial numbers lead you to expect more than what they are capable of realistically 3. The game is far from perfect but in my personal opinion, to keep the fans they need to FIX THE DAMN SERVERS. I see more complaints on that than anything you mentioned. They need more stages. They do need ranked. They need to expand the regions available ect. None of these things will create a massive surge in popularity but they will keep us fans as fans and the devs will have enough support from us to continue. Love your channel btw I’m not trying to be mean I promise
I mostly agree with the stuff you said, but, calling multiversus a niche game, is just not true, the game is really popular now, not fortnite levels (it will definetly be eventually, depending on who they add in the game, and how much the game overall improves and grow, both competitively and for casuals) but still pretty big.
Fun idea for a future tier list: Which Multiversus character looks the coolest? In terms of animations, how they look in the game’s art style et cetera Purely visuals no gameplay taken into account
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I said this on another Multiversus channel I follow, but they're being way too caviler, especially with the next few months being the most competitive. Whether it was PFG or Warner Bros, it was a bad PR move to not be ready and have to pushback the Black Adam update. They need to hit perfect and quickly with Ranked, the server fixes, maybe drop some heavy hitters like Scorpion or the Game of Throne characters because Marvin The Martian an Wicked Witch isn't it. With the release of MW2, Dying Light 2 DLC, God of War, Warzone 2.0, The Callisto Protocol in the next 2 months. If there's anytime to pull out all-the-stops to retain some of your fanbase, its now.
Oh yea I’m not touching this game for a while especially with god of war and the Callisto protocol coming out hopefully they add some characters I wanna play
So many people are asking for rank so most likely when ranked drop people will come back and another thing people still doesn't understand that the game is in beta same thing with fortnite is was in beta when it first dropped every since all the collaborations and skins is keeping the game alive multiversus will get better hopefully it's all about being positive
My only issue is the lack of stages, although I do agree they dropped the ball with their choice of characters this season. Dani from GoT and Scorpion from MK would've better than the Gremlins.
Stripe is what made me quit for 2 weeks . It felt rushed and was overpowered as hell with his moveset. The servers also didn't help my case at all with stripe taking over. Moves hitting when they aren't almost every move. I do love the game though very fun
I agree and would also add having more skins. I got back to playing just because of black adam i am a huge fan .. I feel they should focuz on adding more skins and challenges to unlocked skins
I know i'm asking a lot, i would prefer 2 character release at the same time, i play with my pal and it sucks that only one of us gets to try a new character each time without team mirroring the matches. u
I'll have to disagree with you here. Adding characters to the roster for the purpose of promoting something else would only result in low quality fighters since they wouldn't be choosing them by what they'd bring to the table. Addendum: Plus, the characters are permanent additions to the game while the promotional events are only temporary. It'd be a good way of making the game dated later down the line. Adding gameplay features for the sole purpose of advertisement is a terrible idea.
You can give the servers a pass, but honestly I couldn't disagree more about why the game fell off. Of course it has a small roster it's a new game. They've expanded it quite fast for a fighting game. But when I can't even play against bots without getting 4 second lag spikes, why the hell would I keep making myself frustrated? No amount of new characters or stages changes that fact. I don't care how it compares to other fighting games, I care about whether or not I can play a game without the game hanging for a few seconds. I've nearly quit the game entirely due to it. I think you're very wrong about why the game is losing people, and the idea that a small roster does more to hurt player retention than jank netcode is laughable. If that was the case SSBU would have cratered, because it's got notorious online and it also released new characters much less often than MV is. Like your vids but this is a bad take.
My best advice: I started out the game a noob and would constant face way more experienced opponents…so my solution was grabbing a friend who plays the game well, pick your favorite character, learn their moves and just grind. That’s how I got better I went from doing no damage to winning 1v1s. I’m no where near close to being good at the game but I am having fun with it now
It's more salt to the wound watching this video and knowing they did Game of Thrones content time AFTER the hype for House of the Dragon died down in season 2 of the game. And that season will go down in infamy as being nothing but Looney Tunes fanservice and holiday events.
@@NosyBoy dude I feel like they should have AMPLE data by now. I'll lose hope if after like...a year nothing crazy happens to make the game stand out. I give any game the benefit of the doubt especially one in an open beta phase. I say give it some time on that roster. I'm interested to see what happens next! If I'm going off what you said, having some HEAVY HITTERS in season 2 would make sense because I agree that season 1 was.....strange lol ie gizmo and stripe. But nah I'm here for it bro
I feel like the characters we want are coming soon I think they just wanna make sure they get them decent so people like me don't keep complaining about who's OP lol
I feel like they shouldn’t make promises unless it’s 100% confirmed instead of getting people excited for it, then it gets delayed or just not released. Like they said rank and new characters would come out but we don’t even know if we are getting ranked this season and black and Adam and Rick got delayed a few times. Idk I feel like they should just wait and release at least 2-3 characters and few more stages at once instead of just releasing things one by one. Also with super smash bros ultimate they had lost of characters to choose from at its release, then they slowly added new characters. I feel like they should of added way more characters that people actually like and want before releasing the beta. I could be wrong but I feel like if we all waited for the game to release and have many characters and stages to play with also rank and the server lag fixed instead of just having this game with less things people want and then just quitting. Unless they may be doing that for season 2 and just bringing lots of characters and things people have been waiting for at once.
Meanwhile I'm wondering when the first 3rd party character will come, Season 2 or 3? It did feel implied this was going to be a huge draw, bring a bunch of different characters even not necessarily linked to Warner Bros. Hoping Riot will let their characters in or something. Also in response to adding Taz, I'm confident he's added because people wanted Crash Bandicoot in Smash. Taz is another Australian mammal that spins really fast (and can't keep his tongue in his mouth), and Warner happened to own this similar enough character. It's the "Crash at home" thing.
One reason, they are planning and worked hard for these characters before they plan in for more characters are from Warner Bros. Same to Nickelodeon where they made nicktoons all stars brawl.
In my opinion we need Chris McLean to come out in 2023, the reboot of total drama is coming out soon so it could be good to come out for cross promotion and it would be representing a new decade for Cartoon Network even if it wasn’t a cartoon network produced show
I been saying this. How you drop a game with like 10 characters. When smash drops a game with literally 50 characters off the jump. On top of that. You can’t even play every character So from top 10 characters it drops to like 3💀 which instantly kills the diversity in a fighting game
Smash 64 had plenty of less popular / strange characters and missing "big names". Captain Falcon? A random dude who appears in the manual and a couple still images in a racing game? Ness, a niche SNES character anywhere outside of Japan? Fox, another character that functions almost exclusively from a vehicle? No Peach or Bowser? Heck, no villains at all? Jigglypuff over a more popular second Pokemon? Melee went and added Sheik, Ice Climbers, G&W, Marth and Roy, a second Star Fox character, didn't add Diddy, Wario, or King Dedede, made Ganondorf a really odd clone that only got in because he was a really weird clone... Smash has had strange character choices since the beginning, and those characters they added at the start that were strange choices have now become series mainstays and become popular in their own right. It's raised some series far beyond where they ever would have been without being included, and it just keeps things interesting when not every character choice is just 100% obvious. I really don't think character popularity / series popularity matters nearly as much as you think. If that was really the issue then Rick and Morty would've spiked interest while it specifically dropped for Gizmo and Stripe. Rather than just being a steady decline. Steady decline I'd more attribute to things like... game still being in beta and lacking certain aspects pretty heavily (story / arcade, maps, modes), people finishing the battle pass and being OK with stopping playing for a while until the next season, many people trying the game on launch due to being F2P but not hitting home with them enough to continue, that sort of thing. The last part especially I'd say is probably the #1 contributing factor, games fall off after launch all the time, especially F2P games. Also the leaks are definitely not helping anything when it comes to character excitement. There are definitely holes in the roster, but I don't think fixing those holes ASAP is really gonna do much for the overall playerbase and suddenly make everyone come back. And just adding expected characters or sticking with event releases like movies seems really boring to me. Stripe and Gizmo were the characters in S1 I was most excited for personally, and while there are certainly characters they could have chosen that might have had more impact with higher numbers of people, I think catering to different groups and not just the absolute most popular characters all the time is good to keep things interesting. I definitely don't agree with viewing character choice as "Right choice or wrong choice" and treating it as a test grade or anything. Every character is gonna have some fans and viewing it as a black and white "Good or bad" kind of flies in the face of that. Anniversaries in general seem like something that a lot of players seem to view with huge importance but game developers don't seem to see as nearly as important. There was definitely a ton of speculation for Smash over X anniversary happening and that'd definitely mean new character and it almost never panned out. I think people should tone down their expectations for anniversaries when it comes to this type of game and roster because it just never seems to matter nearly as much as people expect it to. And I think that kind of makes sense from a certain point of view actually, for the same reason that "Well, X anniversary only happens once in a lifetime" you can also view it as "It's a one-time thing that'll happen and then pass, and do we really add a character to a game roster just for that?".
There's also the fact that you don't have to wait too long to get more characters, every 2 weeks we're getting a character, is just a matter of being patience, gizmo and stripe being first is not that big of an issue if eventually other characters are coming anyway, just... be patience!
I know why gremlins were added to multiversus, bc when gizmo came out it was gremlins 35th anniversary of the first gremlins film #savethegremlins #gizmocute #gremlins4life
They should've waited to release the game so they could've included more characters and other content in the launch. There's nothing wrong with the characters (at least 26) they chose to put on the base game. We just should've had more. There's nothing wrong with Taz being in the base game but characters like Scooby, Daffy, & Dany should be there as well.
I immediately stopped playing after I finished the battle pass. I realized I was grinding and not having that much fun doing it. I don't think casual fans like that; I consider myself one. New modes are great, but what still turns me off even today is that it was so much work to grind a character up to my level. I played a few characters a lot because I liked them when I first started, so I got comfortable with them and unlocked their abilities. But then I could only feasibly play those 3 characters on the roster because chances are I'm facing off against a Harley main, I need to pick a character I'm good at to have fun competing. I don't have the time to sink hours into it to lab and grind. This feeling just kept snowballing until all the characters I still wanted to try needed so much labbing & grinding to get to where I was comfortable seriously playing them... and then they made it worse by DOUBLING the grind. I don't mind losing, but playing a character I hadn't grinded to my level feels like self-sabotage, and that leaves me feeling stuck playing the same match-ups over and over. And the slowness of progression was palpable even before they made it worse - in my opinion.
Isnt Arya like one of the least played Characters. You put alot of stock in GoT characters and I know why but like everyone I know who watch that show needed help setting up a Amazon stick
I think the main issue with your argument about characters is that you're assuming that characters are quick to make. Don't forget that Morty was only released a month after his announcement, Rick was released a month later and Black Adam was also released 2 months after his announcement. What I'm getting at is that characters take a while to be made, so it's unreasonable to assume that PFG would have characters ready for each anniversary and tv show that were to happen
They have to scrap beetle juice and wicked witch to a later date, honestly it’s like their throwing their game in the trash. They listen to the community, but it’s clear their making their own decisions when it comes to the next character pics. Also Marvin over daffy? It’s ridiculous.
I mean, can't you just wait, to get the characters you want? also, daffy should have been saved for later because they took a long time to think on what version of him to use?
One thing I hate is people expect a new game to hit as hard and grow as popular as prime Fortnite back in 2018. This game is in beta stages with a small dev team.
I think they should have added at a character from loony tunes, Hanna Barbara, DC, Cartoon Network and Warner Bros other projects. Don’t forget Harry Potter.
