Why narcissistic mothers hate being ignored 

Thank you for focusing on the family dynamics of narcissism. I know the relationship dynamics sells more books and garner more views and likes on RU-vid, but dealing with narcissists in a family setting is more difficult to handle than in a relationship! You helped me a lot since I walked away and cut off contact last January 13!

That explains a lot of my mother's behaviour. When I figured out her ways and strated to ignore her manipulations, she moved out to my sister's. She literally cannot stand being alone. She needs to be around somebody to manipulate them. It's creepy. I still cannot get used to this knowledge that my mum is a covert narcisist. I had thought of her as a saint victim till recently. It is CREEPY

Boy - I can't even begin to tell you how timely this video is! So - I'll be 55 in a few weeks, and today I got a text from my mother (we've been n/c for almost 2 years) reiterating how much I was acting like a spoiled brat; that I am misinterpreting that everyone who allegedly "loves" me (I think she means my equally narcissistic brothers) is out to get me; that this probably results from all of us siblings "... just being dumb, naive, easily taken advantage of by opportunists, and not knowing how to fix it"; that we don't have the empathy required to make life as good for each other as we can; that she's come to the stage where she doesn't really care anymore; that we should live our lives and she will live "what's left" of hers; and that strangers have been kinder... Other than that, it's been a lovely day... 😆😆😆

My situation at the moment is, I've just left a marriage of 20 years after realising I was in a covert narcissistic relationship. Her and her family tried to cause me physical harm just before I left the relationship. She's been syphoning money from our joint bank account for years. I'm starting again financially. I've moved back home. From what I've learnt regarding the characteristic's of a narcissist, I now know that my mother is one. I've reflected on my life wondering why I had such a low opinion of myself and had weak boundaries. This has all happened in the last 5 months.
