I was just thinking about how insane it is that so many natural hair products do not contain protein when our hair literally needs it. Keep on educating!
@naturalnadinee
@naturalnadinee 2 года назад
Honestly it’s difficult to find products that contain a good amount of protein ☹️
@semoneg2826

Because not every hair need protein so if its added to every product we would be on trouble... But yes we need protein....
@cfoster6804

And if they do contain protein it's not the good stuff aka hydrolyzed.

I’m relaxed and even when I’m natural I require more protein. I notice that protein helps the hair to retain moisture.

Thank you for this video! I’m low porosity and most videos say be careful with protein, but since I started listening to MY hair and not what everyone else was saying, the extra protein has done wonders for my hair. Your video has been very validating

I have always equated your hair not liking protein to a pig saying it’s allergic to pork. It’s like listening to myself!🤣 Keep speaking these facts!

I use Joico. All of their products have keratin protein in abundance but it's hydrolyzed. I think that makes all the difference.

So diverse! I am Zimbabwean born both parents and grandparents. Allegedly there’s some Caucasian somewhere down the line too guessing as a result of slavery/colonialism so honestly I would love to get to the bottom of how that impacts this but for me the bottom line is that I’m black. How do you balance protein with not getting protein overload? Been struggling with lower scale porosity hair breaking and drying. A protein treatment damaged the hair. I am not anti protein just trying to understand how to use it without it breaking the hair. And I do get balancing protein with moisture. Thanks!! Love your information. Science works for me! Just trying to find a balanced moisture / protein/ moisture training routine on fine, high density, hair.

@poetinmyheart94

All of my hair products are moisture based with pretty much no protein. I do have a protein treatment which I use once or twice a month though. Is that enough? I think my hair is medium porosity. My hairdresser told me not to use protein in my hair because it's curly and 'dry/damaged' but that occurred without any heavy protein anyway...
@naturalnadinee
@naturalnadinee Год назад
Hey xx A protein treatment once a month is good practice but I honestly think a “little and often” approach works best with protein because it can address damage sooner and preventatively rather than waiting to do one big treatment to get all your repair in. Eg using olaplex every wash day has worked wonders for my length retention because I’m constantly strengthening my hair every wash day where I manipulate it a lot etc xxx
@poetinmyheart94
@poetinmyheart94 Год назад
@@naturalnadinee Thank you! I might give that a try and incorporate some protein into my regular routine. I've just been on the strict CGM and 'no protein!' train for so long, I'm scared it's going to cause more damage. 😅

You used the Lador LPP treatment so I thought you'd probably know. There are no black ppl reviewing it on youtube.

You are right. Please listen to your hair. The curlier your hair the more protein you possess. The looser the curl the more protein you need. Don’t find out too late when your hair is dry and breaking off. It’s amazing how protein is pushed on every hair type. Use common sense on what your hair needs. This is said with much respect to all.
