4:31 THings to do to make hair less porous (if you're short on time like me - lol) 8:52 Apple Cider Vinegar does close the cuticle (i did last night, and followed with OLIVE OIL while wet) 9:28 Keratin protein (careful don't use frequently, or your hair will become like straw aka protein overload)

I washed my hair yesterday, shampoo(which contains colloidal oatmeal so some protein), ACV rinse followed by deep conditioner (containing biotin) and my hair was left feeling like straw. Tried applying my leave-in but my hair was just not ''accepting'' it, no matter how much I applied it still felt like straw, would that be a sign of protein overload?
@RightToFreedomGirl
@RightToFreedomGirl Год назад
@ROZIEEEE yep, 100% prot3in overload but ut will go away Try not to manipulate too much. An Old fashioned light hair grease is needed when manpulating it Did u dilute the Acv with more water than acv?

@@ROZIEEEE Ili forgot to ask, doea yo deep conditioner emphasize "streghthen or stonger" hair or "moisterizing?
@RightToFreedomGirl

@ROZIEEEE what ia needed is a highly noisturising conditioner ( NOT deep condish bc most have keraton, which u need to avoid).Wet hair, let a moisyerizing condiah sit on hair for a couple of hours under a plast cap/bag. It wont be solved overnight but it will help. Do not drink any protein drinks or smoothies. Take vitamin E tablet and eat salmon or foods with omega fats

Adding ACV to my roots when taking down a protective style, or into my pre poo to increase slip. Adding ACV I’m my deep conditioner and/or final conditioner to ok premade slip and close the cuticle. Being mindful about how i am adding moisture to my hair when protective styling bc too much water can lift the cuticle and create dryness and frizz. Now i only do 2-3 times a week. Using heat to style my hair. All these things helped my hair so much, i learned it on this channel. ❤

Wow I love that ACV was honestly a turning point in my hair routine🫶🏾🫶🏾 I’m glad it’s helped xxx

I _immediately_ saw improvement after including the ACV on wash day but that third point is what I'm a little unclear about. I'm very prone to hygral fatigue so I also want to be mindful of how I moisturize between wash days and eventually ween off like Nadine says. Would aloe juice + water be a better way to "wet" the hair and help keep the cuticle more flat instead of just spraying water alone before adding more lightweight leave in mid-week?

I am so happy your channel exist. I have mixed hair and have been trying to grow to tailbone for years but keeps breaking off It never seems to grow to much past my waist. I tried the apple cider vinegar and it made softer.

Thank you for your informative videos. You are one of my favorite RU-vidrs because your content stands out from others and is always supported by science. I have a question regarding the pH value of hair gels. Are synthetic hair gels not optimal for hair health, because their polymer structure is only stable at pH value>6? Would this mean that using gel as the last step in a hair routine is not recommended because it can prevent the hair cuticles from closing up? Or could this effect be prevented by doing an ACV rinse (or low ph leave-in) beforehand or even afterwards? Or do I not have to worry about it, if I follow all the other tips from your video? I would appreciate a response. Greetings from a viewer from Germany🥰
@naturalnadinee
@naturalnadinee Год назад
thank you!! & Heyy Germany!! That’s so cool && yes Gel PH tends to be 6-7 which can definitely knock off the PH balance of hair but doing ACV before would help to offset this. Also naturally the thick consistency of gel forces cuticles to remain sealed which is why it can make hair appear shiny and take longer to dry when you use thick gels, so for me I wouldn’t worry about PH alteration/ my cuticles raising using gels as the last step to styling xxxx

But isn't ACV a clarifying agent? Which is why most people say to use it BEFORE deep-conditioning (to help remove all build up & allow for max penetration of conditioner). So now i'm quite confused cause if you were to use it after you deep condition then you'd be removing all the conditioner you just applied to your hair and sealing the cuticles with your hair un-moisturised, no? Would really appreciate an answer.

Ok so I've been binge watching your videos and came across your "The Danger of using ACV" one and in there you perfectly answered my question lol!(which is something I'm really appreciating about you, nice, clear & informative/science based). Was gonna delete this comment but figured I'd leave it to contribute to your engagement.🤎

Hey Nadine, to my understanding, all the tips given in this video should be applied after moisture training my hair for 3 months. Pls is this correct?
@naturalnadinee
@naturalnadinee Год назад
Yes definitely! If you’re not moisture trained and start to lower your hairs porosity you will struggle to moisturise effectively definitely moisture train first xxx

can you do a video on The Ordinary’s hair care products? I would love to see a review on natural hair from a scientific pov. Also could you do a video for treatment of color damaged hair 😭😭 i’ve been watching your videos and seeing that you recommend bond builders for damaged hair. I can’t afford olaplex, but Inkey List has a PCA bond building spray and i’d love to see your thoughts on that! And curl salve has one as well, but some ppl say it’s a protein treatment and not a bond repair treatment.

To clarify when I am moisture training should I do the entire wash day or just add some water and leave in. And I do this before my hair is even dry. Once my hair is optimally moisturized, lower the porosity by using ACV Rinses.
