I’ve been asking this same question. Ned’s’ cast seem unproblematic. While Zoey 101 is filled with problematic castmembers. Also, how cool would a Kim Possible reboot be as well? Shame they are not realizing the potential. The Proud Family reboot did well enough to warrant a season 2. That and Kim Possible were the premiere animated Disney series of their day, so that should be proof of concept that Kim Possible would do well.
Doubt we’ll see Cadet Kelly 2 (what would that look like? Would be an interesting creative challenge to figure a good plot out). Doubt we’ll see it because: A) because finding a good plot for an engaging true sequel this many years later seems difficult 2) Hilary has to be upset with Disney over how they killed their vision for an adult-oriented honest-to-life reboot for Lizzie McGuire (how could they make the mistake of killing the Lizzie spin-off a second time after doing so in the early 2000s. Ripped my heart out twice).
They didn't do a Ned's reboot because of the bad press from some tik tok drama in 2021. I'm assuming that's around the time talks about reboots started happening. And as problematic as Jamie Lynn is, nepotism gains the biggest ground in Hollywood, and her proximity to superstars is more marketable to studios. Edit: Listening to everyone talk about how studios still favor Dan Schneider even after everything has come out is the best case in point of how the older generations feel about cancel culture on social media. They're willing to protect the most vile men because their ideas were marketable. So when cancel culture (albeit in this case we can call it more of a social movement) breaks through those protections, it makes sense that they would view a tik tok controversy canceling one of the actors from Ned's as more egregious than the things said about Jamie Lynn.
To be honest, I still do not see it. For two main reasons: there is a lot of content out there, books, movies, podcasts about how to manage your life as an adult. Part of the reason this worked for kids was because a kids show is one of the best way to absorb that content. Second, while Ned's was never a one-size fits all approach, being an adult is definitely more varied than being a guide to survive middle school.
They want to do it because they want to be back in Hollywood making $$. Ned was featured in a news article about how he blew through his money and had to get an actual job lol
@@Iamtheman325 bruuh did yu watch the damn show? or even this interview? how could the same actors play their own kids? they want to do a reboot with the original cast , an adult version bC everyone who watched it is an adult now.
Paramount would be in charge of that. Scott Fellows proves that it isn't quality over quantity. Ned's Guide and BTR never got as huge as Drake and Josh and ICarly, but the quality of their programming was never questioned. Honestly love the 'Live-action cartoon' approach Fellows does.
That's the thing, it's always an issue of can they pull it off. A survival guide for adults sound good in passing as some millennial quip but to actually pull it off and not be cheesy you need some seriously crafty writing. Of course anythings possible, but does it track, a lot of these reboots have been fine at best. Maybe the talking to the camera thing could work to their advantage idk. I do wish more people would talk about how good the show was in the first place.
The lack of a Ned reboot surprises me, because the show's premise is one that truly stands the test of time. There will always be those universal experiences of adolescence (crushes, difficult teachers, bullies, etc.), but each generation has their own unique way of dealing with them (today: navigating the tone of DM messages, zoom classes, online bullying, etc.), and having the voice of reason come from a knowledgeable peer (like kid Ned) or a reliable teacher at school (like, say, grown-up Ned being the school guidance counselor) is one easy way to speak to kids realizing they need help at vulnerable points in their lives. I would think that after covid especially, they would be more interested in investing in shows that address the well being of their viewers.
@@henrypeters5291 yeah that makes sense lol at the end of the day though if you look at how well icarly is doing on paramount it makes sense they would’ve felt confident enough to pitch it the way they did
For the record they did kind of do a reboot it was made by the same creator it’s called 100 things to do before high school the premises were nearly identical it’s an underrated show
@@madnessarcade7447 I've never heard of that before, but just doing a quick search into it, this all makes even more sense now. They might've considered revisiting "Ned" too redundant, depending on when they pitched the show. Ah well. At least we've got the podcast to keep us going~
Personally I liked Zoey 101s characters a bit more, especially the Logan and Michael duo, but you're completely right. We do not need the Spears family back into shit. They probably just want to do it for the Chase and Zoey relationship, but if certain characters don't make the show its gonna suck. Just like the ICarly reboot, without Sam and Gibby it's almost impossible to watch. Even though I always wanted Creddie
@@lotuslife3239 Zoey 101 had some great things, but boy... who cares about the Zoey 101 gang in 2023? I actually thought a lot about this, and realized of ALL the Disney and Nick shows of that time, Zoey 101 is literally the one who would never benefit from a reunion project. Who cares about what Chase and Zoey are up to? They got together in the last episode. That's all we need to know imo. But now.. a Ned reboot, that actually makes sense.
@vitorbastos123 ya fs the only thing I care about is seeing funny shit and Zoey aint gonna get it done. Now Drake and Josh, that's a reboot the whole world would watch, if only Josh wasn't such a pill
My sister and I met Lindsey Shaw at the Costco eye care center. No joke. We were 14 and 10 at the time so we knew her from Neds Declassified but we didn’t want to approach her and interrupt her life. So instead we just whispered and stared then she went back to the doctor and her mom spoke up and said,”You can tell her hi. She loves it. Do you know her from Pretty Little Liars?” And we had to tell her we knew her from Ned’s and she chuckled bc at the time she was huge in PLL. We binged her PLL show after that😂 Also Lindsey was the nicest celebrity I have ever met. So down to earth and kind!💕
Ned's is waay more relatable. You could take their show and place it in any town in America and they would fit. Zoey 101 was just a bunch of rich kids, running around their amazing lives doing incredible thing. The whole vibe was wouldn't you want this to be you? IF I wanted that I'd watch millionaire team house content. If they're making the reboot for kids, fine I guess, but they won't care about characters they don't know. Ned's is the better bet by far, but that's on them.
I was just about to say, I watched Ned's and Zoey 101 when they aired, I genuinely could not tell you what the plot of Zoey 101 was. It's forgettable. It's not special. Ned's was.
I agree honestly Ned's Declassified was literally the ONLY show I could relate to as an awkward bullied middle-class kid. I actually made my own Declassified school survival guide and distributed it among peers!
@@sailorsenshi4504 Ned's Declassified had this 'live-action cartoon' vibe that I adored and honestly love the scenarios that happened. It is the sole reason I 'fast walk' everywhere taking long strides. It also ended on a really-high note after 3 seasons.
Frankly I would’ve loved both a Zoey reboot and a Ned reboot but now as a 30 year old, I kinda need Ned now to help survive this crazy f**led up world.
It's a shame that Nickelodeon isn't doing a follow up to this show, though maybe it's just as well, since the original is fantastic just as it stands. It's great to see Devon, Daniel and Lindsey back again, in the same room.
For the record they did kind of do a reboot it was made by the same creator it’s called 100 things to do before high school the premises were nearly identical it’s an underrated show
@@mirandataylor6385 Usually the executives look at the historical graphs. They should honestly be looking at social media and make the graphs from scratch.
Christy's right tho! Ned's & Christy herself not currently having a re-boot makes y'all stand out as unique! No chance to tarnish or miss step! Frozen in time forever in your fans hearts!! Nothing wrong with that. Positive spin! Big love!
I loved how both Neds and Big Time Rush had that balance of real stories about growing up, and those slapstick stories you’d see in cartoons. Man, Ned’s needs a reboot.
Ned’s always felt safe and connected! Watching them I felt I wanted to be the odd kid or be exactly myself. Watching other shows (Victorious or Zoe) I never felt connected I could feel the mean girl energy through the screen. I couldn’t relate.
I love Ned's show. It's silly and funny, at the same time it taught you life lessons in a weird way. Honestly, it vibes with kids a lot more than Zoey 101 and shows like that which aim at more teenagers. Not saying I don't like shows like Zoey or Victorious etc, just that when you watch Ned's, you know the content is silly right off the bat. It's like watching a live-action cartoon. With the other shows, sometimes they tried to be silly, but they mixing both reality and fiction, so it makes it...kinda cringy at time.
Ned’s stands out because of the rock solid comedic humor & the cast chemistry. Zoey 101 relied a lot on the high budget Oasis-like scenery & the presence of a few strong characters.
Well, whether that’s it or not I loved Zoey 101 and as a kid I didn’t think about these things at the time but it felt like it ended abruptly so, I’m down for the reboot 😂
Let me tell you the power of Ned’s… I loved middle school because I felt so prepared for it since I went into it the year after Ned ended. Then I didn’t learn most people hated middle school until 11th grade lol
I had a harsh reality but these shows were my escape /family. When I think about these characters now at 26 I she'd a happy tear for what they did for me
The reboot has so much potential. It could still be set in middle school with Ned being a guidance counselor, Moze being the woodshop/gym teacher, and Cookie being the tech/computer teacher. It could center around the trio guiding a new set of middle schoolers.
Ned could be the janitor if Daran Norris doesn''t want to come back. My thought is to have Ned be financially pretty sound due to smart investments and side hustles. Most took the janitor job for benefits purposes. But let's face it, It's not a Scott Fellows show without Daran Norris (played the janitor in both Fellows projects)
Your content just keeps getting better, Christy. I admire your commitment to showing these actors' truths and giving them a platform to send their message.
Nice job. Love Kim Possible and Love Ned's. Wish they would reboot it. Never watched the iCarly and unsure about the Zoey 101 reboot. But would watch every episode 3x over of a new Kim Possible/Ned's show.
That period of Nick and Disney was truly magical! I adored both Ned's and Kim Possible. Before I moved to middle school, I literally wrote down all of Ned's tips in my own notebook!
how does zoey 101 reboot even make sense? A college show about full grown adults (because that won't get old fast🤣)? I don't even care what those actors have been up to, they all just like disappeared after the show ended. A Ned's declassified adult survival guide actually makes sense
I miss the old Disney and XD, Nick, Cartoon Network, everyday and Ned's definitely helped me through my school bullying period by making me laugh and giving me a hug through the screen. I will forever be grateful for that and now I get to revisit those nostalgic times with their podcast 🤗
See these are the small things that freak me out lol coincidentally last night I finally finally after years of absence found a means to stream Ned's Declassified. I loved that show when I was in high school and as it happens not 12 hours later this video suddenly surfaces. The timing ... wow
It ain’t that deep. Your devices are all on the same internet. Your emails. All that information is used lol. You think it’s a coincidence? It’s definitely not haha. If you start watching a show. You’ll see more of it in other apps. The algorithm is more then just the RU-vid algorithm or instagram algorithm anymore. It takes your data and shows you what you’d be interested in at the moment
I'm honestly not sure a KP reboot is the best. I mean, i would love to see it happen, but something about a reboot of a series that is timeless just seems like a bad idea. There are so many characters that many want to get to know more about, why not have a show or a mini series about them?
Ned’s was a show I watched as a young teen that made the tuff days easier and made me see other kids going through what I went through. It was a great show. I truly miss the magic and would love to see a reboot. I can’t believe they didn’t want a reboot.
Not a big fan of reboots but I wouldnt mind to see this one . Ned’s declassified was magic ( still is ) because of the time it was given. We were all kids struggling with bullying, mean girls, cliques, crushes becuase we were in that stage of wtf to do and too see it on a tv screen having similar thoughts was helpful and the advice really did have a role
Adulting is hard for everyone.... would love a Ned's survival guide. i don't need Zoey 101. I only watched that for Logan and Chase so..... A whole reboot is not needed.
How tf is Zoey 101 still going through with a reboot with all the fuckin drama between actors saying “their side” of the story I only believe the girl who played Nicole I believe her side no one else who like “oh she’s remembering it wrong” cough cough guy who plays Michael
Couldnt they do a reboot on a different network like the iCarly reboot? I LOVE the iCarly reboot because everything has aged, even the script. They sprinkle in some cuss words and actually funny adult jokes. I would imagine a Ned reboot to be somewhat similar.
Didn't watch much of it, but Ned's declassified is something that can easily be rebooted for any generation. There are somethings that are just true about Middle School no matter what time decade you're in. The crazy teachers, the cliques, social anxiety, etc. Zoey 101 was decent but didn't really have anything timeless about it in my opinion.
The reason I believe Ned's isn't getting the reboot/continuation it deserves is because of Brian Robbins is Schneider's homie from back in the 80s. Robbins is the head of Nickelodeon. Even though Dan may not be involved in any reboots of his shows, he still gets paid because he created those characters. Homies watch out for each other.
@@Josh-wu7kz Because he created the shows, he's always going to get a cut. However, with the iCarly reboot and Zoey102, he does not have any involvement or say on the production or creative direction of the show.
my guess is because the whole jamie lynn drama was so public and big, people at nickelodeon probably saw money signs since controversy sells. Like this reboot feels forced. Goes to show that the people at nickelodeon do not care about their viewers (and actors) but only care about what will fill their pockets. I for one will not be supporting that project. Have y’all revisited Zoey 101 as an adult? Her character is flat out unlikable, there’s a video compilation on youtube. Dan Shnieder sure loved creating bratty and mean characters as the main. I also hate how the studio did not protect Nicole Bristow when she was bullied by Jamie Lynn, the cast, and Dan + producers. It just doesn’t sit right with me, I can’t look at the show the same anymore. I really hope in the future they will give a ned’s declassified reboot a chance. I think it would be so great and I would be curious as to how they would execute it in this era with a genz and gen alpha audience. Much love to y’all!
I’ve been rewatching Ned’s now to keep up with their podcast and I was SHOCKED how well it holds up and how much I was full on belly laughing!!! This show was my favorite for a very long time. Love revisiting it through the podcast
Ned adult survival guide is basically needed considering how little most teens are prepared for adulthood. I turned 29 yesterday and shit man I didn’t figure out adulthood until 25 at least. Side note: didn’t realize christy had a RU-vid channel and yup completely remember why she was my celebrity crush
It just shows that studios still have that agenda. They're too focused on fixing the history they've manifested for themselves because woke/cancel culture is still on their ass about the controversy that happened in the past. Studios really need to move on and just try to be better in the future. Its such a huge problem as to why content has become so saturated these days, especially when it comes to reviving old shows. I honestly think they wanted to use Zoey 101 as another platform to deliver their message saying things like, "oh we're not like that anymore" or "We're only about make progressive shows that are all about representing those that were discriminated by us". Studio executives are so sensitive to their reputation and its extremely sad to watch.
It’s crazy to because I know for a fact if there’s a studio that consistently produces quality projects that ignores woke culture, other studios will eventually try to follow suit and match up with that quality. There’s so many people these days on the opposite side of the spectrum who hate the whole woke thing and is dying for a studio to go against that narrative but no major studio at this point is bold enough to kick start that domino effect. The only way woke/cancel culture will die in entertainment is if studios kill it themselves.
I think Nickelodeon believes that because iCarly has done so well a Zoey101 movie will be just as successful... but I won't be. Also the assertion that Nickelodeon still favors Schneider's content over all others definitely rings true. Zoey101 is the least enjoyable show of Schneider's creation, and revisiting it years later in a rewatch doesn't hold my attention like Drake & Josh, iCarly, and Victorious do. Also the fact that watching it on Paramount+ it's in this terrible old SD format. A Ned's Declassified reboot would do pretty well on Paramount+, grow ups who watched the original as kids plus a new audience would make the show an easy ratings success.
Shows like your and beds helped me grow up and understand challenges and not feel alone. I personally would love ya’all to do a reboot because adulting is a whole other end of the spectrum of challenges. There is no manual for growing up and no shows helping to feel like your not alone. 20s-30s year old is a really hard time in trying to discover who you are as a human. I think revivals of even Stevens, Ned’s, Lizzie, and I’m sure there are more should be so reassuring as an adult not feeling like a fuck up all the time. I know this is all over the place. Thank you guys for an awesome childhood!
Honestly, ned was such a good show and I enjoyed it. Zoey 101 was more my level. At the time didnt realise Jamie-lynn was britney's sister. I mean I was like 6 how could i. As much as I'm excited to see the new zoey 101 coze it's like revisiting my childhood. After everything that's gone on and everything that's come to light. I would have enjoyed to see ned get rebooted instead
No because Zoey 101 was like my favorite show, I always felt so grown up watching it 😂 and I loved zoey and was so happy that Britney’s sister played her so now it’s like idk what to do lol I wanna watch but also ugh
It’s great to see these actors give credit to their show. I feel like when most actors grow up, they regret being on shows as a kid or they’re even embarrassed. Ned’s was one of the greatest Nickelodeon shows so I’m glad they’re proud of it because they deserve to be!
I love how Christy is being so real and helping all the other “child stars” come and tell their story and to let us finally see what really went on behind the scenes. ❤
Looking back.....zoey 101 was kind of very problematic and also more inappropriate, I much prefer Ned's declassified especially now as an adult because it showed specific purpose (the actual survival guide) and not just stupid useless drama like zoey 101 did.
I was just thinking yesterday I wish Christy Carlson Romano & Will Friedle had the rights to Kim Possible instead of Disney because I believed the 2019 movie would have been done 10 times better under their control.
sorry to drag such a a different issue here, but since the zoey revival was mentioned, I thought it was fair game lol i was really surprised that after all the jamie lynn spears bad press (and the whole britney spears thing) nickelodeon decided to do the revival. Also, victoria justice is out, the guy playing zoey's brother is also out and it was low-key confirmed that when they started to talk about a revival PUBLICLY , there wasn't anything real on the table. It was just a "campaign" orchestrated by jamie and looking back it was so bizarre. The cast even did interviews together and there was that awful cover of the intro song with influencers or god knows who! It gave the impression that they were about to go into the set to film, that everything was ready. Maybe it was part of the plan, to get people excited, to get the fans' attention so that nickelodeon would see how much of a real chance they had in making this sequel. But it felt cheap and like they cheated the fans. Then, for more than a year, there was nothing to be heard and suddenly bam! movie revival. I'm not gonna say I won't watch it, but I know it will feel awkward, especially with jamie lynn as the star. I'd much rather a revival of Ned, especially because this cast does seem to be close and has created a good friendship over the years. They have such a good energy among them.
I enjoyed the Ned's Declass show growing up and I would've love a reboot or continuation of the series. Don't know why Nick chose a reboot Zoey 101 over Ned's, but hopefully it gets the green light if not on Nick, then maybe on Paramount +, who knows
In my opinion the zoey 101 reboot isn’t going to last as long as people think, given the fact with everything that has came out about Jamie, from the absolutely relentless bullying to Alexa, using her sister for her money, and the whole Britney and Jamie thing, to me it’s not gonna have any good views. I could be absolutely wrong but I would much rather have a Neds reboot than zoey 101.
I would love to see a Even Steven’s reboot but I completed understand why a certain actor wouldn’t be allowed back and it would be weird without that character.
@@wcthesecret I forget his name but he play REN’s little brother in Even Steven’s. He’s a completely disgraceful person who was arrested for shooting dogs, not to mention he sexually abused his costar.
I mean he's not wrong about Nickelodeon favoring Dan Schneider content they already brought back iCarly but when you really think about it just about every live action show on nickelodeon from All that to Henry danger was created by Dan Schneider in some form he was pretty much their bread and butter.
If you listen to the testimonials of what they expirenced as child actors on Ned's VS other Dan Schneider shows, the expirence between in quality is staggering
I loved lindsey on neds as a young teen its funny the show came out as I was in middle school and then loved Lindsey on pretty little liars and that came out as I was graduating high school
@@thetruej7872 2000 Bash at the beach, Hulk Hogan dropping that line on Vince Russo when Vince Russo told Slapnuts Jeff Jarrett to just lay down and let Hulk count him. Very infamous moment
Much rather have a Ned reboot way funnier. Zoey was cute but the acting was always eh...plus the drama with Jamie lynn just feel like it's a stupid choice
I enjoyed _Zoey 101_ , but I found it weird that Zoey, Nicole, and Lola were deathly afraid of calories given that they were skinny. I've always been thinner than the average person, and I NEVER tried to limit my calorie intake. Having a 30-inch waist can make it hard to find pants and belts that fit. It feels like the clothing manufacturers are skinny-shaming me. I guess the message is that real men eat at Kentucky Fried Cholesterol and The Cheesecake Factory. Then again, I'm permanently disqualified from having a man card because I've watched _Zoey 101_ , _iCarly_ , _Victorious_ , _Lizzie McGuire_ , _Hannah Montana_ , and _The Suite Life of Zack and Cody_ despite being older than the target demographic.
You aren't the only one. I watched because they were good, clean family entertainment - like we had in the 60's. I never thought I would see clean television again in my lifetime, but there it is. Nobody lost their man card in the 60's watching My Three Sons, Leave it to Beaver, Patty Duke, etc. That stuff was mainstream on the three networks, and not thought of as kids stuff. If these new shows were on TV in the 60's, they wouldn't be out of place, and would have been winning Emmys.
Bro all those are classic choices, nothing wrong with watching them as an adult. I still throw on episodes of Full House from time to time. I'm also skinny like you and trust me, a looot of people out there who'd want to be in our shoes
Christy, I just wanted to say that I am a really big fan of your work. You are right about a lot of this new stuff being crap and people's legacies being tarnished. At least yours is and will always be unsullied.
I would much rather see the Ned’s Declassified cast in a reboot. I literally grew up with them. Now as a 30 year old, I would rather get tips on how to navigate life as an adult rather than watch a reboot of a bunch of kids attending a boarding school outside of LA.. 😑
Honestly, I don't want to give Jamie Lynn Spears another platform to stand on after what she did to Alexa Nikolas and her sister Britney. But I stopped watching Nickelodean, because I just can't support them anymore.
I feel like it's due to money. They gotta organize alot of things. Writers sets, staff. Artist, clothing. There's always an agenda and sometimes it's not bad, there's just alot of tasks involved, alot of time. I'd rather see them in new shows. Even movies would be cool.
Zoey 101 and Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide are very good shows. But I honestly want to see a reboot to Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.
Meanwhile I actually did rewatch Ned's declassified recently and that's a show that gives me good vibes and people do care about one another. Some reboots suck but I bet this one would have been great
