Again, video isn't made to be inflammatory or be uncritically hateful of Nijisanji EN. Don't treat it as such, and watch the video before making that impression.

I mean, you're just stating facts. We can't say Hololive isn't doing well, cause Regloss and Advent are both strong waves. We can't say Vshojo isn't doing well, they've pretty much undone the drama that came out around the departing trio. Nijisanji has a way of doing things that is different from Holo or Vshojo, as you say. Business-wise, what its doing is working for it and its not having these issues on the JP side. Its just that its business model doesn't bode well for the corporate success of subsequent EN waves, and the company has had a number of controversies of various sizes this year.

Honestly Nijisanji could, and should, tone down the frequency of new talents. Clearly adding more talents into the pool with an already ineffective management would just worsen things. If you ask me, NijiEN was at its peak after Noctyx debuted. At that point, they had 10 female and 10 male members, a perfect cast if you ask me. Even though Iluna had good debut numbers, I remember thinking back then that the cracks were beginning to show, that the branch was becoming engorged and oversaturated. Even now, it feels like Kyo is the only member who has any relevance out of that group. I think the agency should have put things on hold once Noctyx debuted and they had reached and good stabilization point, but instead they got greedy and overstretched the management and fans attention spans.

I do wonder if a member dropped out pre-debut given the small wave, the very sudden debut rush/short notice, unpolished marketing items, and the lack of the usual accompanying group debut like a song that Niji tends to do. Even if I'm wrong, something certainly seems to have happened behind the scenes. It's a rough start for a new wave for sure and I have to think there was SOME reason for the apparent time crunch beyond the VShojo debuts, because even beforehand it would have been obvious that a rush job would only make the embarrassment from those worse.

That poor new wave had so much against them. Not only did they only have 2 days to get any sort of hype at all, but they were announced like a day or so after three ID members graduated and only a couple days before that, Matara and Kuro talked about how bad their former managers were. Not to mention the new wave has like no real name, or no new group song like the rest. The audio being scuffed isn't really anything that crazy, but it is a sign that they were rushed out. Part of their problem is that not only does Hololive debut fewer waves so debuts are more of an event, but the waves are often filled with notable talents. Advent is full of humor of different stripes, and Regloss has an actually cultured person, and Regloss members do regular karaoke streams cause music group. Even though the two waves came out pretty close together, they each have distinct enough members to where you don't get much overlap. NijiEN would benefit from slowing down the release schedule a bit and trying to bring in talents that really add something to the dynamic, or at least can make a strong impression.....If it wants to compete with hololive. Funny that the reason why Niji releases new EN gens, is the same reason why Hololive does it as well, to maintain engagement. But Niji does it following a calendar, while Hololive watches their own numbers, waits for the current gen to be stabilized in rock solid grounds, and then decides when to start a new group. Then you have the fans who live a paradox of both wanting Niji to slow down and Holo to pick up. It is probably too late for Niji, and it would be the wrong move for Holo.

Even if they would get new members, and Japanese members actually doing well (cause it's their main favorite branch), the negativity came out more globally cause most members that having problems and graduated are non Japanese. Nowadays people probably already expect bad thing would happens i.e: "Oh new wave? Meh they probably gonna graduate after 3 moths or so" etc2. So they expect their talents to generate the most profits to them and reaching the KPI/target. And you must copy exactly how they wanted you to behave, speak, etc. Even if you clearly cant/dont like it at all. If you cant do that, you will be pushed out from stages, shut down, and eventually released/graduates. High turnover rates bcs of this stressfull management is part of JP work culture that dont respect psychological/mental damages(you can find it a lot of info on youtube about this). Yeah... when Hololive's ReGloss debuted, I didn't even bother checking them out, since they debuted only like a month after Advent. And yet Niji is doing that all the time, debuts don't feel special, so not many people care. In that matter, Vshojo has the best policy of adding one member once in a blue moon, only speeding up recently, and it's probably not going to be a speed they maintain. Basically, Vshojo debuts feel like a sequel. Hololive debuts feel like an expansion pack with a proper new story that intertwines with the rest of the game. Niji debuts feel like a DLC that adds a bonus character that doesn't fit into the story.
@jack90054

And Holo management realized that and they (and their talents) went out of their way to help promote ReGloss (A-Chan clarfying what their branch does, old members co-streaming their debuts, inviting them to participate in the Minecraft Sports Fes...etc.) Now, two months into their debut, all ReGloss members are either approaching or already over 200K (with Raden over 300K already). This type of "on-boarding" process/help is what's sorely missing with new Niji talents

For Regloss, maybe for us, EN sphere, doesn't do much because we had Advent recently. But for JP, It's been i guess 2 years ish since HoloX with no new gen. The thing with Holo, they might debut some gens close with each other but within different branch. Like Holohero from ID > Uproar from StarJP > Tempus from StarEN debuted close to each other. So the said gens still feel fresh and won't cannibalize the market because different branch and market.

I think Niji's model of throwing as many VTubers on the dartboard as they can like AKB48 has always going to amount to fan fatigue for the company as a whole. I didn't even know there is 30+ NijiEN talents now - I only care for Pomu, Millie, and Selen. The rest to me have for the most part been largely forgettable or total fangirl bait that I have zero interest in as a guy. What's even worse is that I can feel the neglect toward the female members of NijiEN, mainly because on my recent trip to Japan - I dropped by Animate Ikebukuro. There was literally a floor and a half of nothing but Nijisanji merch. Of all that merch, I would say roughly 2% of it featured members of LazuLight, Obsydia, and Ethyria. I wanted Pomu and Millie merch. The only thing I bought was a Millie plushie. Most of the NijiEN merch I could find was of the guys, namely Luxiem and Noctyx, I don't think I even saw merch of any NijiEN outside of those 5 groups. Nijisanji's merch game is honestly pretty poor. Actually, if I had a complaint in general about the merch I saw in Japan - there used to be far more selection of cool things such as Coin Purses, Luggage Tags, Dishware, etc back in 2020 before the pandemic (I had gone to Japan early Feb 2020 before the shutdowns). In every Anime Merch store I went to in Tokyo last month (end of Oct 2023), it was dominated by Acrylics and Can Badges - which while they're cool, it's not so cool if that's literally the only things on sale. I hope the diversity of Anime products come back eventually - especially for VTubers. Most of the Hololive stuff I saw in Japan were Acrylics and Can Badges, and most resale stuff were Birthday Bromides - this is despite the fact there is more variety of Merch if you buy on the online Hololive Store after there is a merch drop announcement from a talent.

Though I did hunt down copies of the La+ & Chloe Leader Cards from Shadowverse: Evolve - both of which will likely never come to the EN version of the game. (I couldn't find the Koyori Leader Card). But yeah, I found that I had more of a variety of goods in my first trip to Japan in 2020 then I did in my trip 2-3 weeks ago. If Nijisanji wants to turn around their reputation they will need to do a lot of restructuring. Several if not all executives will have to be laid off and replaced with people who give a shit about the talents. Those people would also need to be able to convince shareholders that better treatment and pay for the talents would be good for their profits and brand. They would also need to improve the quality of the merch they sell. Maybe it is just something I feel right now because after already debut rich October we jumped into November with 4 generations in 10 days or so (V&U, Eien, V4mirai, Project F... dang, had to look it up), with Niji Oct debut it's 5 gens in 2 weeks. (And we had more debuts, like Kawaii etc. late summer/early autumn.) It just feels like companies discovered money could be made through VTubing and now are clearly set to get as much customers as they can. And while I am struggling to catch up to all the new debuts (I am not an agency fan like some people, although of course I do have a kamioshi and one who streams quite a lot), I am wondering, how will the new Vtubers find their spot in the sun? I am wondering how well they're doing and I must admit, occasionally I get doom thoughts on how it is possible for some fat trimming to occur. Of course, my next two favorites would be Mika and Mysta mostly because I loved their dynamic together and I also loved seeing Mika interact with the Holo ID girls (there was one especially awesome UNO stream that they did which I would tell ANYONE to check out) and now they're also either out of the company or on their way out. The first 5 debut waves were hired within the first 2 audition waves and debuted roughly within the same year, only 2-3 months apart between each wave. As such, the first 5 waves had time to get to know each other predebut and helped create the foundations for Nijisanji EN. That said, various controversies happened between the time of Luxium's debut and the hiring wave for Iluna and Xsoleil. Meaning that a lot of people who could have joined up during that hiring wave didn't do so. And the same could be said for the later hiring waves as well.

The comparison being made here is Vshojo specifically poaches known Vtubers to add to their repertoire, well known ones only at that. OP isn't saying that an "unknown talent" is someone with no experience, an "unknown talent" is someone without a noticably large following online already and yeah the vast majority of them do not hit that mark. All of them had some sort of following before yes, but not a big enough one that they were really well known outside of their own following or communities they live in. (Nijisanji has a very good example within theirs of someone who was a well known youtuber, but only within certain circles). Vshojo has never debuted a fresh talent, they always get talents that everybody already knows very well for the most part. Hololive doesn't aim for people with clout they aim for people with proven experience and talent.@@lucasLSD

Nijisanji tried to apply the same model they have in Japan, but failed, because the western public is used to Hololive' style. Let's be honest, vtubers got more well known in the western side of the planet, because of Hololive. Nijisanji treats everyone equally bad, but in Japan it doesn't seem to be a problem, probably because they know the principles of Nijisanji (Make every person in this planet have their virtual avatar; Give everybody a vtuber they can relate to or like; etc.), that's why many started vtubing in Nijisanji as a side, some even did it as a hobby. They aren't an idol company, they just use the idol concept in some of their livers, but they really are just a company that provides vtubing entertainment, they don't even pay a salary to their livers, they earn what people give in superchats and merch.

Honestly the only reason I had any interest in the new Niji wave was because I recognized one of the members as a content creator I had already been watching for years, so I joined to watch along and continue supporting them. Krisis and Xsoleil I had no interest in at all. They've somewhat grown on me now, but I'm not new to the scene anymore. I've been watching vtubers for years at this point, and settled into my place as a casual viewer. I think maybe if I was as hardcore as I was when I first started watching, it would be different, but it gets tiring trying to keep up with the new personalities all the time for me, personally. I look forward to seeing the path that the company decides to take; I really hope they look into stepping into new territory soon, or at the very least slows down with the new talents. I was always a big Nina fan, but I was honestly never someone who watched Mysta that much. Aside from the Company's perspective, I think one of the things to take into consideration when we talk about new gen is their senpai's exposure. In holo, when new gen debut, their senpai from all branch will try to hype them up and try to reach out to them privately (like when advent pre-debut, some senpai slid into Bijou's dm's and X's post. Presumably other member's too). While on niji (EN atleast), the only senpais that I could think of doing this is only LazuLight. I don't really watch vtuber these days, but seeing this I feel like nijiEN talents are on a race now. It's every man for themselves. Very different than the earlier days when Lazulight hyping up Ethyria and Luxiem and being a proper senior. Idk, I'm probably just not caught up on anything to justify what i said. So, my opinion probably wouldn't matter. Still, I hope the talents are doing okay from here on forward and the Company could really reflect on their decision making (huge copium).

Speaking of past graduations (Exclusive to EN branch) two went back to indie due to their silent graduations, but the other two who graduated a month from each other only to have the latest one be in a new agency close to one month after his graduation is not only mind blowing, but to then have another ex-niji member to debut in the same agency??? (I can’t comment about the hype of both debuts since I stay away from twitter) but I’d expect that they’d have ample hype within the vshojo community with their prominent members like mouse. Niji can’t seem to get timing right. It isn’t a matter of putting new people out right after a few members graduate or even debut from another company, but knowing when to hold back and plan properly. (This applies for AR live too) Management seems to continuously disappoint talents and overload them with little resources for things they want to pursue to bring more audience with them. I remember feeling extremely iffy that the new wave had their debut announcement and their debut date so close together? I remember Iluna’s one being about 2 weeks and Xsoleil being 5 days? W days feels way too fast and not having a unit song and a unit name? Are they just like Krisis part 2? They all seem to have a more warrior type jrpg feel than heroes though.
@ausgod538
@ausgod538 6 месяцев назад
Iluna never had two weeks wtf are you talking about. Iluna had 5 days, that's the maximum. Every bigger wave gets more days while smaller get less, lazulight and obsydia were both 3 days same as krisis. And unit name and song has nothing to do with being related to krisis. I implore you people to try to learn how Nijisanji works and the history of the agency because this is just how niji always worked, no song or name, from 2018 to 2023 in JP KR and id. En still had a song funded by anycolor, just not debut song anymore but theme song, since krisis who also didn't have a unit name and logo. That's how niji works, unit name is picked by the own members, en had official unit shit picked by members pre debut but historically 99% of Nijisanji isn't like this and en is just becoming like niji has been for 5 years with their waves not being officially named but getting named post debut, only difference is en getting theme song now

I think my biggest issue with this new NijiEN wave was the compounded problems they kept having. The scuffed audio tweet, the supposed "fix" that still had bad voice mixing, the 2 days notice... not to mention, if you go back to their debuts and look at them, all of it just seems really low budget. Which doesn't make sense from a 10-figure company. The lore, the overlays, the stream assets... it just seemed like they finished their auditions, picked their people and said "Okay now YOU pay for your debuts." And then the talents were left scrambling to either find people within their budget or create it themselves. Even looking at Kunai's lore, she was clearly not taking the voice acting aspect very seriously. (Not to be critical of her tho, I usually don't enjoy insane, overblown lore. I really enjoyed that part of her debut lol) It gets even worse for me when you consider the inconsistencies of the talent management team. Sometimes the management is good, other times the talents get no support? Like you would think a company that big has checks in place to ensure your front facing employees are satisfied with their jobs, and that the management team in charge of them are being consistent with their work. NijiEN doesn't like hearing criticism and will censor it to the best of their ability, but then why is it even a taboo to give constructive criticism when a project comes out sub-par? The best example being when four talents sang the song "Cage of Desire." There was a part at 2:30 where Enna sang the lyric "salves of their own, of their own endless desires." In the context of the lyric, it very clearly should've been "slaves" but I guess no one checked the lyrics beforehand to make sure it make sense, and Enna just recorded it that way to be accurate to what she was given. Even worse, the song lyrics in their entirety were way too complex for this style of singing. There's no way I would've heard of half of the words they sang, let alone understood the meaning, if not for the lyrics being stated on screen. The singing was really good, but the songwriter needs to chill, and proofread past the second draft for god sake. They also don't allow their talents to talk about certain things, even if they're not that big a deal. I understand sometimes it's to avoid drama, or not dox themselves, or keep the shareholders happy. But that's honestly part of why I started watching more of the Phase Connect girls, which started with Pippa. I have memberships to a few of the NijiEN girls i rarely watch anymore, and my two closest timed superchats with them will be my Membership SCs. Sometimes it's just cuz they're playing a game I don't really care about, but other times it's cuz the Phase girls can just fuckin say whatever's on their mind without so much worry. Pippa going off on an MK Ultra tangent or watching car dashcam videos is SO much more interesting than watching yet another Honkai stream. The JFK game she did last week was hilarious, despite it being scuffed as hell. And that led to me watching Airi, Lia, Ember, Shiina, Uruka, Erina, and even honorary Phase member Kirsche lol. Last major point, the CEOs of all these bigger companies I watch: Holo, Niji, Phase, Vshojo... only one hasn't been on stream. The CEO being on stream, and actively participating, really goes a long way. It's not just some big guy at the top anymore, they're participating in events, collabing with their talents, and all-in-all just making themselves much more relatable as people. Yagoo is kind of a goofy guy, and we all love him for it. Prime example: him modeling the merch, and being on streams from time to time. Gunrun actively helps his talents (and even his talent's friends!) if they're having some tech issue, or picks them up at the airport, or chaperones for IRL events, and quite a bit more than that really. Sakana sometimes streams with the girls, doing Q&As or zatsus, but he also just replies with funny shit in chat or on the company discord. I remember the moment he got on my good side: The clip where Airi and him were doing a Maro Q&A collab (where Tenma jumped on the call and berated him, what a legend lmao). When asked what he sees the company becoming in 5 years, in the most non-chalant tone: "We're gunna be idols man." Like what normal CEO says that? His homie level went to the moon instantly. And then there's Tazumi... other than the occasional praise and mentions from talents, I have no idea what the dude is like. Tazumi is a complete mystery to me, despite being the forward facing representative of the company as a whole. Never seen him on a stream, never seen him on a twitter video, never seen him come into chat to interact with talents, never seen him even try to defend the companies actions when they did something that some people didn't like. If I don't know the person who's making the decisions a the company, it makes me want to find ways to make sure the talents gets as much of my donation as possible, and avoid the agency cut. That all being said, the new wave are all nice people, Claude is pretty funny... but I'm probably not going out of my way to watch them unless there's nothing else interesting, or they have some cool collab going. I swear, if I had the equipment and wasn't such a pussy about getting too much attention online, I could make my own videos. I've basically written a baseline script lmao. Feel free to use any of this in a future video if you'd like. Sorry for the novel Nousagi

Obviously, first Nijisanji need to solved their management problems first in order to attempt to fix their reputation in the west (i dunno how their reputation is in Japan), after that i thing that they need to stop releasing waves that close to each other at least for teh EN branch, one of teh main reaosn i belive Advent did so well is because i took Cover 2 years to debut new talent, people were starved for new members, and when it happened it was just wild, also the all of teh new members feelmdiferent that previous EN members, and one of the problems with Niji EN is what you said after Iluna pretty much it seem that they are releasing members with really similar personalities, the most different member was Meloco but that;s because she's a Japanese person that wasn;t even a fluent english speaker when she debuted and that was interesting, but i don't really need another Aia or Scarle with a different model, i will just watch Aia and Scarle. Also it will take time for Nijisanji to recover the thrust of people, probably years, and with how knew the vtubing industry is we really don't know if Niji or any agewncy really has that amount of time, new industries can collapse fast when the interest dwindles and a solid base wasn't build.

You can see how some of the livers was uncomfortable to try out new things and often cite JP rules whenever their ideas got shot down. @@akira8393 Too bad Nijis standards are so low that they will take anyone as long as they ain't expensive and can make them money, only person who would want to be in Nini are Clout Hungry Indies or people who wanna be big but Hates Hololive and what it stands for. I believe that the Blue Triangle brand is a Seal of approval that this talent deserve to be with them even if you don't follow Thier content because what's important of being there is the Journey a talent is gonna undergo to not what they are now.

you know i'm little envious with anikara CEO Mr.Riku, he is what i called an Egotist like Ego jinpachi, except without the jinpachi and all Ego. his bussiness is very good for him and the investor cuz it brings them money with fast rates and cutting off with the unnecessary one and bring the new one for more consistent cash flow to them.(yes i'm complementing his method)

I mean arent all vtuber and streamer viewership stagnating in the west outside some exceptions? Is advent doing better than council? Not sure if niji went all out on idol corp money spend would have changed anything. But yea seems like they got a lot of stuff coming up in the next few months so hopefully exciting positive stuff can improve there vibes. Still not sure why ppl assume its all bad there. Like a huge majority of ppl are still there right. Gotta be doing something right.

Advent is slightly ahead of Council in terms of subs growth from when they debuted and get roughly the same viewership. The problem is they all stream with the same 3 hour time period with 5 to 8 streams going on at once.

It's just everyone streaming at the same time, nothing upset me more watching their debuts than realizing they will all be streaming in American time zones, meaning I can't watch any live. I just whist they would add a couple English or European talents to spread the content out over.

@@bradybunch4707 Have to get used to it, because that's how it is in JP. No getting around it as you add more talents. But the number of Hololive viewers have increased when you add the total viewers, compared to months ago. When Gura was streaming with the debuts it was consistently over 65k total viewers concurrently. As for the hours they stream, that's up to the streamer to choose a different timeslot other than primetime.

@@JackdotCi'm curious how much Vtuber culture is present in Europe? I'm pretty sure hololive likes to set their foot in Europe but maybe the market is not big enough like in Asia and the USA? But even before that i think we really need some talented people in Europe to join their audition and get accepted in hololive for a starter.

At this rate I feel bad for Niji. Whatever they do now will be subject to initial dismissal and skepticism because of the things that happened before. New hires at NijiEN will never ever get the same level of attention, praise and hype that new HoloEN hires will continue to enjoy. One mistake in the past and its over. You cant just return back to how things were before.

TBH, I didn't even know NijiEN was releasing a new wave. I'm not really a niji fan, although I do enjoy watching Elira, Pomu, Salen, Petra, and Rosemi every now and then, so I guess I fit pretty well into how you described the state of things. I also tend to not find out about new NijiEN waves until after they debut. The last one I knew about before launch was Maria, because her waiting room was reccomended to me like an hour before start. And before that was Luxium. I hope the new talents can find some niches to do well in though

For me, it seems like NijiEN doesn't care about the donation and /or viewership as an individual but just sees it as "how they perform as a gen and racked up as many as possible", It is like a rat race where they put as much people as possible, hoping they gain fans as a gen and giving the company money, not giving a care who, how and can discard individual as easy as they came.

If I have to put my honest opinion in this matter it would be that I don't hate Nijisanji in the beginning I absolutely despise them, when some of their members were announce that they were graduating. Because I blame them for some of their talents are leaving, but after my emotions settle down and the empathy settled in. I started to feel even more sorry for anybody else joining in because they want to show off their talents what they're good at while being entertaining for people to enjoy. But it looks like they're having trouble getting the new people coming in any chance to develop into something that people would love to enjoy watching. I didn't even know they were releasing a new wave I was watching Kyo's Minecraft stream when he decided to look on Twitter for something so that's how I first found out about this new group. And from what I learned after watching a couple of clips from different vtubers they didn't get much time to interact what the people in their group either before the announcement or when they go live. I just wish that they could spend a little more time promoting their groups a little bit more or in the very least better, because the models they create are always very memorable and the people behind them too. So I hope they can make a comeback soon because it is way too depressing seeing so many fan favorites graduate this year alone.

Niji models are technically inferior to indies and holo. To me, this says the corpa cares little for each talent. all the drama and black corpa behavior kill my interest. Beyond that, up and coming small and medium sized EN companies are out competing niji for my time.

Hololive general strategy seems like to let the talents cook, and support them all the way. They encourage the talents to interact with other braches through inter branch events and proving revitalizes the career of the talents, for example Peko-moona revitalized Moona and introduced her to more viewers. This strategy proves effective because it breeds more content for us, through wholesome and funny moments despite some cultural differences. While Niji particularly EN side refuses to let the talent make an inter-branch events or community focus events, making the popularity gap even bigger and thus favoritism ensues. I think Niji should do some inter branch events, and encourage the talents to interact with those outside of the branch. If Gura and Shion, or Pekora and Moona, can be best friends despite language barrier, Niji livers can too.

i think niji is very active on branch collabs. if anything, the issue i think is that it felt like watching a typical niji content where with hololive, you have sometimes miko say the funniest stuff to gura and we'd be dying laughing
