@@Ryan-jc7qhit's literally a consequence of capitalism... cut corners to make profit and spend an enormous amount of money on things that aren't necessary.
@@spaghettisauce445 the top soccer leagues in the world i would say are better in many ways then any American league. In europe there is no tanking every single win counts no matter what.
I work at a sport's clothing retailer, and it astonishes me that Fanatics makes so many of the real pro uniforms. Their products are consistently some of the lowest quality goods our store receives.
I guess it's like food. Quality takes time. If it is done fast the quality it's going to be lower. So I guess you could either have good quality or you could have fast and efficient 🤷🏿♂️
Do you really think they send your store the exact same material quality/overall quality of the uniforms they provide professionals to use in game? Surely you don’t.
And that’s why people use them Nike wants to save money so they go the cheap route but also don’t care about money because they spent so much on sports companies to allow them go get there logos on shit
I mean hopefully the backlash from MLB fans this year makes them think twice either later this season or for next season… or not. I for one am not buying one of these new jerseys with this quality and appearance in 2024. Certainly not for $100+ anyways
To be fair, I feel like the annoying PR-speak "we dropped the ball on this one" tweet was some disgruntled low-level social media employee utilizing their copy-paste responses lmaooo
Probably not even that tbh. I legit wouldn't be surprised if all those gigantic companies just had an army of bots for tweets like that. If you actually send them a DM, MAYBE then you get an actually customer service guy
Fanatics is simply acting in their best interest based on what's legal for them to do. If you want to blame someone, blame our useless government that is more interested in distracting you with social issues than protecting the rights of consumers and blocking monopolistic business practices
@@EpicwinFTW27 I bought a couple fanatics T-shirts recently. It was a $35 retail Knicks t-shirt and $25 sale ($35 retail) Yankees t-shirt. They look pretty good and the quality is better than expected but it is definitely expensive. Hopefully it lasts long. I remember having a Majestic Yankee t-shirt and that shirt was so awesome and lasted long time. I believe Majestic doesn't exist anymore. If I want some sport team apparel, I am pretty much stuck with the same handful websites that are pretty much charging all the same. The professional MLB players trashing the uniforms are crazy.
@@VoltChips 100 years ago lmao corporate propoganda has so thoroughly rotted the American brain they'd rather die than empower the state to stop shit like this
To be fair. The only reason why fanatics is big is because North American leagues insist on doing their kit manufacturing for the whole league with one manufacturer. Outside North America fanatics basically doesn’t exist (speaking from experience)
@@perfectman3077You can't get deals like that outside of NA. Outside of NA teams have deals with companies, not whole leagues. So if the players don't like the quality or its fans are unhappy, they have a much bigger incentive to switch companies.
@@frosthammer917 What's it like being so confidently incorrect. Exclusive league wide deals absolutely exist. Not in Europe, but across the world you will find plenty of examples. South Africa, India, Australia, NZ. Association Football rarely has exclusive deals as teams get relegated making it impractical. But to claim they "don't exist" is the height of arrogance you based it off of nothing but your own tiny part of the world.
Such a bummer because the majestic jerseys were such good quality and material. Truly worth $300. Stitched and thick. This new stuff is just ironed on crap
I'll never buy a Fanatics/Nike Jersey or any other product they make as a professional replica product. I'll stick with my 15 year old Majestic Jersey till the day I die. The material feels premium and durable without being overly heavy. The Fanatics/Nike crap feels like some flimsy free t-shirt you get at a 5k run.
Funny thing is, before this video I couldn’t even tell you that I noticed a Nike symbol on every single mlb jersey and merch. 😂 People’s brains will just eventually block them out after seeing them so much I guess.
@@colmecolwag I'm option 3 over here. I couldn't unsee them before ever watching this video and it annoyed the fuck out of me every time I noticed. It was to the point that I started getting noticeably angry at Nike for that stupid logo on the chest which now reminds me of this whole Fanatics fiasco so then I get mad at both of them. And don't forget the 3rd party brand each team puts on their shoulders. Whatever it is I hate it and I ain't buying it. Don't ruin the jerseys. Aesthetics and heritage are part of "the show". We're not paying hundreds for seats to watch a winter league scrimmage. This is THE show. Game attire should be top of the line. It should look and feel like something special. Not chintzy knock-off looking manufactured waste.
"Better for consumers" is not a thing in America anymore. You're thinking of "better for shareholders" which might as well be written on the American flag at this point.
@@colmecolwag yeah that part is a win win, except the ability for them to offer jerseys for everyone came from their ability to make them in a few days thanks to the awful quality
@colmecolwag quantity isn't quality. We're just expected to pay the same price for a wider variety of inferior goods. That's no service to us. It's exclusively benefiting the corp.
Each team should have complete control over their jerseys and who produces them. The texture, the fabric, design and colours. Jerseys are such a big part of every fan base in every sport and should be handled with care and respect. But no sports corp is gonna say no to a Billion bucks
San Jose Sharks actually kicked Fanatics out of their pro shop a few years ago because of their trashy products. At the time, the Fanatics/Sharks deal was team specific, not a league-wide contract. January 28, 2021 - The Sharks have parted ways with Fanatics and are returning to running their own merchandising with a new partner, ending the deal with Fanatics just halfway through their agreement. The Sharks will now oversee their merchandise designs and manage their own inventory and quality control. The move returns full command of their own product sold at the Sharks store, the kiosks around SAP Center, and on their website.
I remember when I had to settle for $30 bootlegs because real ones were too expensive, now days I buy the $30 bootlegs because they're the better quality option.
@@redbullsauberpetronas as the video said, its because of the turnaround time. 24 hours after Ohtani was made a Dodger, you could get Ohtani jerseys, in bulk. Thousands if you wanted. If LeBron goes back to Cleveland tomorrow (Friday) by Saturday you can get a LeBron Cavs jersey. Until another company has the infrastructure to compete with that, there won't be any big competitors. I don't know the "clothes manufacturing landscape" but it could be called a monopoly in the US, in some way. There are 3 billion Android phones and 1 billion iPhones worldwide. Google's operating system is on 75% of the market, regardless whether or not its LG, Samsung, Motorola, Ericsson, or whatever. If that number keeps going up to.... 90%+ or so, expect Apple to sue for anti-trust (monopoly) even if only to get bad PR on Google.
Lol no. People buy them, so they lower the quality, then people still buy them, etc.. It's one of the least curious things imaginable. The cycle will stop as soon as people stop buying it.
Oh and that same company (fanatics) now manufactures pretty much all sports trading cards. Which would also be why the Topps 2024 set feels like it's made of fu*king tissue paper. This is also why I now just buy vintage jerseys and older pre fanatics card sets. You should do the same. Unless you like paying 40+ for cheap blasters or 300+ for cheap ass jerseys.
Even fanatics t shirts suck. Bought a Phillies one last year wore it once and after washing it, it started falling apart. Name was peeling off and the threading in the neck started coming out
I bought the 2 Nike MLB jerseys, including a hat. Which is really expensive! However tho, when my mom washes it, the name, the number, and the rest of the design didn't fall apart. Which I guess that means I luckily bought it. Not only just that, but I'm also luckily that I bought it before Nike ruined the best design. That definitely needs to change immediately. Especially when I saw the Dodgers Uniform. The 3rd letter "D" on Dodgers jerseys, is now splitted. That is not how I like it very much
@@bob8776/ I think on October 2023, i bought an 2 medium size jerseys that somehow still fits to me even though I'm XL size. But when I wore Large or XL, it didn't fits me perfectly. It's too damn large....
Great Video! Felt like this deserved a comment for a few reasons, well researched, easy to understand, and also mentions that Nike themselved dont get paid directly while get paid indirectly due to indirect advertising.
Baseball doesn’t exist made Baseball come to existence into my life 😭🔥🐐 wasn’t too interested in baseball until coming across this channel, salute to you bruv🔥
I bought a Manny Ramirez Majestic jersey in 2002 as a kid visiting Boston. And I NEVER would have imagined cherishing it just because of build quality!😭
I also noticed the change of quality once they switched out to Nike, they became thinner and easily out of shape after just a few washes. Bring back the Reebok and Majestic T-shirts!!!!
You should do videos on other sports during their seasons. Love the baseball the most, but similar productions about football and basketball would be super cool I’d definitely watch
Everyday something reminds me I’m getting old. Today it’s this, cause back in my day Majestic made amazing jerseys. I remember ordering a Bret Boone and Derek Jeter jersey with all the stitching and everything. Felt like the coolest kid on the block! Long live the 90s!
