I’m 25 and just now going back to school. I’m going to my local community college then transferring to a 4 Year because after 2 years they have a guaranteed admissions agreement for transfers with a 2.5 GPA from the community college. Look for community colleges that have guaranteed admissions agreements with the University you want to go to. Makes it so much easier to get into the 4 year and saves a lot of money

Yes!! The counselor part is so true! I had to do my own research and become my own advocate.

Congrats on graduating soon, it’s a bit intimidating but after your first few classes it should normalize

good on you for graduating early but, if you dont know what career path to go down, i would suggest not commiting to a 4 year and going in debt. if you already know, then truck on brother.

Thanks for the information! I start community college in Michigan this fall for the first time and I’m nervous but excited. There’s specific guides you can follow to transfer to the school of your choosing for a bachelors. So keep that in mind! Ask for a transfer pathway guide if you’d like to see specific classes to take to get you to the school Of your choosing.

- and also depends on your major definitely do your own research on what schools have the better program for you but there should be specific guides at your community college to get you there

I did the IGETC transfer agreement. The counselors weren't of much help to me at community college. Counselors weren't helpful to me when I went to the University of California Santa Barbara. I would rather look at the general catalog for information than go to a college counselor.

Exactly, even at UC Berkeley the counselors didn't help.

never used a community college counselor - i transferred without any issues - the classes that transfer are documented in the college catalog - for me this was back in the 1980's - a lot less online resources back then - so are kids just dumber now with all the online resources?

Everything is online but the problem is people are stuck on tiktok and other apps so they never actually get to googling the things they need to succeed.

@@adamramirez1 Im just wondering your thoughts on what I should do. Im currently a junior and am wanting to get into CS for a top school, but with how unpredictable cs is nowadays, theres a chance i only get into my safeties. If thats the case, would it be wise to go to a community college and transfer or is that too risky?

the prestige isnt all that important unless yorue creating your own company, going to a decent school that has opportunities for you to get work experience and have you stand out amongst employers, thats what matters most.@@eljefedagoat

Cal states are better for transfers cheaper and more affordable and most people can commute to their local schools

Kinda - I wouldn’t rely on college counselors. Most information is easily accessible online, just takes a bit of effort to do the research.
