I’ve never seen someone from any state other than California transfer out to any of those universities 😭 which scares me cause I wanna transfer to a CA uni and I’m from Florida

Yeah they do prioritize people from CA, you can move to a California school though 👀

I am applying to Cal, as a transfer with a 3.9 and 7 Honors classes (History major). I am 40 years old now. Are there many students there my age? And do you have any advice? I am also Underground Scholars eligible (formerly incarcerated).
@adamramirez1
@adamramirez1 4 месяца назад
Yes, there are older students and they fit well in school culture but like anyone it’s up to you to get engaged with on-campus organizations. So advice would be to exercise these opportunities to join on campus organizations bc it’s really what makes the experience. Good luck with admission coming out soon!

I had a bad dual enrollment professor and ended up with a C in one of my classes, should I retake it to raise my chances of getting into a top school? I still have 3 semesters left and am at a 3.6 currently.

I'm applying as Business/econ major and one the major requirements for the UCs is Calculus 2 and 3. All the calc 2 and 3 professors at my community college and even nearby community colleges give an average grade of a C, so I was wondering if u have to complete every single major prep and GE requirement as a junior transfer to UCs or if having a couple classes missing is fine?
@adamramirez1
@adamramirez1 2 месяца назад
It’s highly recommended that you have them complete. As long as you have igetc complete you’re good but I’d plan to get it done if it’s required. It’s probably gonna be harder if you wait till UC to take it too

@@adamramirez1 I found some community colleges that offer the calc 2 and 3 classes fully online and they are easy. If I take courses from multiple community colleges will it look bad when i apply?

Hey, I saw your other video of the brutal reality of transferring out of CC into a university. I had a question about having a social life in college because I want to have one just like everybody else but I know it’s going to be hard of course. My question is there any more tips to have more of a successful social life in college, like having fun and stuff? I’m from NY
@adamramirez1
@adamramirez1 Месяц назад
So important to join campus organizations to acclimate to the school and make friends. Join as many as you can and most importantly be active in them. You should be fine socially if you do that!!

@@adamramirez1 Do you think I would be fine if I’m transferring into a university as an athlete because like you said junior already have their groups?
@adamramirez1

@@rafaeliraheta6752 might be better as an athlete because you have a built in friend group. (Assuming your team is close)

I'll be 30 years old next year snd want to go back to school I am aiming for UCI, USD, USC or potentially even something like Harvey Mudd for engineering, physics, or applied math. i haven't decided what to major in but in highschool i took calculus BC and physics C so I'm decent at math and feel i can do those mentioned. Being 10+ years removed, how do i go about starting this process in Cali? Will i even be eligible for financial aid? I'm poor even with 11 years working odd jobs(hence my desire to go to college) so maybe that's proof of poor work ethic snd poor decision making? Please I need tips
@adamramirez1
@adamramirez1 Месяц назад
It’s never too late to go back. I would apply to the closest cc to you (although some cc are better than others) There’s a website called I think California community college where you can get started. Not too sure about financial aid but it’s pretty affordable.
@delgande
@delgande Месяц назад
@@adamramirez1 thanks for the help and sorry if I'm asking too much, but since I'm new to this, does it matter where I go for engineering? I saw the UC website saying that you need lab experience in your required science classes for transferring but I don't know if that'll be available at every CC. I have yet to pick days to take time off work to visit the CC campuses and find my fit Will age affect my transfer? Will being old reflect negatively for a selective school like Harvey Mudd/Irvine or should I keep my expectations low? I'll still of course try as many schools as I can with safeties but Harvey Mudd would be nice
@adamramirez1
@adamramirez1 Месяц назад
@@delgande age does not play a factor in admission. Harvey mudd is a great school but if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck I would like at cal state and UC schools since tuition is more affordable. There are certain classes like biology where you take lab with the class. All community college should offer the classes needed to transfer, for the most part at least.
@mykr14

Don’t colleges want you to take difficult classes so admissions would see that you’re challenging yourself? Or as long as you get good grades it doesn’t matter?
@adamramirez1
@adamramirez1 Месяц назад
Just matters about the grades & fulfilling the transfer requirements at community college
@delgande
@delgande Месяц назад
It doesn't matter if you take some super hard math if your major is something unrelated. Just meet your requirement with an achievable A so that your GPA is as high as can be. Why stress yourself taking every hard class when you can focus extra hard on your major requirements and spend extra energy on things like extracurriculars and the like
