showing the repair to our keel stub, our mast re-rigg, and all the work associated with us getting back afloat. This was a really stressful period of 3 weeks, as a result of a light grounding, and it shows the extent of repairs that may have to be undertaken if you hit a rock , even a glancing blow. We are planning a trip across the Atlantic to the Caribbean so can't afford to have any defects in our boat either above or below the waterline. At nearly 4000 miles the various stages , crossing Biscay, Gibraltar to the Canaries and the actual Atlantic crossing are serious passages, any defects will be exposed to heavy sea and wind conditions , and failures could result in loss of boat and lives, so we have to get this fix correctly - hence the high stress levels.
