Overwriting PoE1 with PoE2 would be disaster. It's only answer you need. People are hooked to PoE1 gameplay, so better make another copy with alternate universe and it's own physics.

they saw what blizz did with overwatch 2 and literally walked back the decision. we're doing both side by side and all previous purchases in poe1 will be carried over to poe2 because we said they were going to be the same game and people bought thinking their content would carry over. good guy grindgeargames.

@@dan-ny2282 exactly. I love that they've decided to run both games parallel with a staggered seasonal. So you can play poe1 season for 1 - 6 weeks and then shift to poe2 for half a season.

Question 2 is actually a really good one and I'm surprised by Jonathan's answer haha. It makes sense though. Can't fix all spaghetti. The foundation of the game engine is what either keeps your options open or limits your development. I can't wait to get my hands on PoE2. Couple more nights of sleep and we are all blasting the undisputed best arpg ever ^^

The worst thing about poe1 in my experience is how boring the campaign feels after playing through it for the 200th time. I hope they add some alternate ways to level your character in poe2. I love delving and would love to level up my character in the mine.

Oof. Why melee is bad (currently)? Cuz its hard to make NEW melee skills. What kind of mazed is that? New skills won't fix current state of melee. Melee was fine before they nerfed impale and block and armor and fortification and bleed and slam skills and dual wield. In other words... EVERYTHING THAT MAKES MELEE MELEE!

It’s the thing that animated the character models on screen. Like a people controller. You give it a script (animation) it acts it out.

Rigging includes setting all the joints and animation points on said skeleton, it is a tedious task that no one likes to do, as such good riggers are well sought out in the games industry :)

The worst part about POE isn't melee... it's all the meaningless clicking. Add: Inventory auto-sort, auto-pick up currency, stack currency instead of individual drops, auto-move currency from inventory to stash. Boom, the game is literally now twice as playable because people get to play the game instead of playing an OSU knockoff.

SSF needs more attention and they need to remember that in d2, we were farming exp in baal bot parties and the rest of the time we were solo. So just add a node or passive that if you are alone you get more exp, rarity, quant, etc. pretty simple

I think another reason would be that PoE 2 will be targeted at a different audience. I know PoE trailers always look slower than the actual gameplay, but I would be surprised if PoE 2 can keep up with PoE 1 in terms of flashy speedy playstyle, which many people love the game for.

I doubt it will get to mach 15 like PoE 1, but will still probably end up being the fastest in the market by far. All the gameplay we've seen is in like Act 1 and 2. Do people not realize that in PoE1 you're still using garbage like Spectral Throw without GMP as a leveling build in Act 2? You aren't 2 shotting Oak or whatever in even the best league start builds.

@@amethonys2798 I have no clue what Mach 15 is, googled it and it says Speed of Sound? I can't remember last time I used Spectral Throw outside of getting to town as a Scion tbh, for 90% of the builds I play its just rolling magma + flame wall, if I lvl a melee character I usually go Spectral Helix which has giga dps still even after the nerfs. Yes the bosses aren't THAT fast in first 2 acts on leaguestart, but definately not that slow either and needing 2-3 hits for a normal mob is not something you'll ever see in PoE unless you specc out of all your skillpoints and use default attack lol

Melee is bad not because they nerfed it to the ground and they have a bad armour system. GGG enjoys nerfing every single skill that is at melee range. The only viable melee build armour stacker got nerfed; RF was something that need you to be at melee range, got nerfed bad 2 patches ago. Cyclone 10 patches ago, everyone is playing slayers, best melee skill ever, they nerfed it to the ground. Buff the melee skills and just redo the calculation for the armour system, what I would suggest the physical damage reduction % from armour make it apply directly to any incoming physical damage, like your resistances

I wish the original D2 team could make Diablo 3 again. D3, D4 are made by posers ->the games dont have a soul and PoE1 has good itemization and talents for end game but.... the 10 act campaign has no story, no cool npcs, no mystery, no atmosphere, 0 cinematics and if every act is 5 hours you need to play 50 hours to get to the end game. So you need to be bored for 50 hours to play some get the best items to kill nothing. I mean PoE is the best yes but its a joke compared to D1 and D2 in 1997 and 2001 respectively.

Poe, the only game ppl deffend the devs selling you bank space for currency and maps (wich makes the game VERY bad to play) but blizzard does it, they bring out the forks. its funny and sad, but if poe would make it that ingame currency unlocks bank space permanent, that would be perfect. but untill then its a huge "pay for not sorting bank/inventory every 3 maps". oh and dont let me start the topic of an auction house (atleast for currency) so that no one has no sit hours upon hours in the hideout spam wsiper ppl and hoping to god you get a trade bot. the sate of trade and inventory management is absolutley bad.

@@VotexforxmeGrinding Gears Game are not a charity. They have to make money somehow and the investment in stash tabs for the majority of players won't be more than 40 USD. That's less than fully priced games and way less to what Diablo IV sold for. And you don't even need to buy extra stash tabs until you have reached maps (endgame) and are farming them. Your point about trade is fair but it is a complex topic that is hard to debate on this comment section.

Ultimately, it feels to me like a businessmen mindset. "we are already remade everything anyway, why not make a whole new game(GGG's inner mind: oh yeah, open up a whole new business route)". It is similar to why mobile games have so many fucking servers, because people would then spend a fortune to try to get top 1. GGG used to said PoE is meant to play forever, but apparently not PoE 1 would never really get as much interesting/insane updates in the future compare to PoE 2. At some point, PoE 1 will just get limited in some way because of old engine, I really hope it can be addressed like how Valve evolved CSGO to CSGO2, otherwise I don't really see how PoE 1 can be played forever or having any truly impactful update in the future.

Because there is no way to get new players, without having them scared of the millions of currency shards, bs all made so you buy inventory tabs, i quitted the game cause item managment and farming was geting ridiculous. They just want a new game to add stuff to buy like crazy with real money, i know they need it, but they already got way too far with poe, this was insulting at the end.

I personally got scared off by the $600 costume featured front and center. If one optional costume is that much I can't imagine how much they intend to soft charge for the game. (Soft charge is the minimum amount of transactions required to not feel handicapped.

@@silverwing4153Ok PoE player here. I can answer that currently PoE1 is free to play and the only microtransaction that it has that could be considered pay to win are stash stabs. But the vast majority of people (like myself) only need to spend around ~40 USD in stash tabs to be able to enjoy the endgame to the fullest. Stash tabs are cheap and they have sales with discount like every 2 weeks. So current PoE is more of a "free to play full 10 hour campaign" and If you like the game enough to give your soul and play thousands of hours on maps, then you have to pay around 40 USD. All the other microtransaction are cosmetics and they are quite expensive. But they don't have any effect on player power. I played the game casually for like 4 years (from 2013 to 2017) without spending a dime. Currently in stash tabs I have spend 45 USD and I have played way more than enough for that amount lol

Dude just play ssf ruthless casually like me and slowly make a true character, it’s fun and satisfying. Normal Poe is for little epeen visa warriors trying to d|ck measure vs each other and cry over any nerfs. Remember…it’s just a game not a competition. People these days forget what real gaming is about.

The worst part of Path of Exile is having to replay the campaign every new season. It is a ludicrous proposition to require everyone to waste 10+ hours every few months on content they've done over and over again, just to be able to participate in the refresh. 10+ hours is the length of a brand new game I've never played before. Why would I spend that time on gate-keeping drudgery instead of just playing a different game?

@@SGIMartin Stupid argument. 10 hours is very much in the realm of legitimate estimate for people who are not speedrunning, and the rest of my point was not addressed. Even if it was only 9 or 8 hours, the point remains, if given the choice between playing several hours of something I've already done several times and get no enjoyment from so that I can play the part of the game that has a chance of being fun, or I could go play a new game that only takes 10 hours, why would I choose the large load of drudgery instead of playing something potentially fun from the start?

My comment highlighted a very real problem that is preventing a non-trivial amount of players from engaging with the new content. Since Path of Exile follows the "Games as a Service" model of content release and monetization, it is a very real facet of the game for long-term playability and user retention. If they are losing user retention due to misguided game design principles, that's a very real problem, with the game.

There is 0 benefit to redoing the same campaign that has received 0 changes over the past decade every single season on every single character in season itself. Hate Blizzard all you want, but adding Adventure Mode to the likes of D3 was the best decision ever made in an ARPG. Let people level up however they want after doing the campaign once because at the end of the day end game is all that ever matters anyway. What harm is there for letting people Delve their way to level 70 or whatever instead of doing the campaign? You already skip the first 200 or so depth anyway so heaven forbid those might get some mileage.

Why POE 2? Because GGG want to have 2 FUBAR games. The worst thing about POE is Johnathan and the rest of the top idiots. Every league POE been catering more and more to the top 1%. Affliction was hope for all to have funny but GGG did a good job in cutting that off with this garbage league.
